Since requests are open can I request a f!Paladin Ilmater Tav with Astarion, preferably with a happy ending for them both. (She joined the church after having seen abuse firsthand no thanks to her dad)
One more devoted Tav, now in the domain of Ilmater!
Ilmater, also known as the Crying God, is a patron of opressed, suffering and persecuted.  He is a willing sufferer, bearing the pain of others to spare them from it, and it is said that if he had his way he would do so for all the suffering in the world. His symbol is a pair of white hands bound with red cord. More about Ilmater Church of Ilmater

Astarion x f!Paladin!Tav

Headcanons
Your oath is self-sacrifice.
Abused and beaten by your father, assaulted more than once, you became pregnant at the age of 14.
A drunken healer terminated the pregnancy, but you nearly died from blood loss and injuries.
Afraid to face the consequences, the healer and your father left you to die in the streets, hoping no one would ever find you.
Whether it was pure luck or Ilmater's will is unknown, but you were found by a passerby who brought the bleeding and dying child to the local Ilmater monastery.
The Reverend Father took care of you and made sure you felt at home.
You have grown up among the Ilmateri, helping the poor and unfortunate, in places plagued by poverty, plague, or war.
You know much about the suffering of this world and have an open heart.
As you reach adulthood, you gain a vision.
Ilmater, The Crying God himself, appears to you in human form and presses his bleeding hand to your chest.
"Protect the less fortunate in my name. Choose your oath, paladin."
The only thing you manage to whisper is "self-sacrifice."
You tell the Reverend Father of your vision and receive his blessing to leave the monastery.
You wander the Swords Coast, living up to your faith and vows.
But one day, you are kidnapped by the Mindflayers.
Your oath dictates its own will. Save your friends from the Tadpoles, destroy the Absolute.
You are selfless and caring to all your companions. Especially Astarion, for he may have suffered the most.
You forgive him, care for him, trust him.
Astarion can't get enough of you - you are his knight in shining armor who has finally come to save him from his misery.
Thanks to him, you are learning to think about your own good, too.
Maybe choosing comfort isn't so bad.
Or thinking for yourself for a change.
But when the time comes to save the world, you make your choice.
You have to sacrifice yourself - to let them turn you into a Mind Flayer. You are a martyr, a paladin.
Astarion rushes towards you and holds you back.
He begs you not to do this.
For the first time in two centuries, he has something. He has a future. He has you.
"I have an oath to Ilmater! I must sacrifice myself!"
"Where was your god when you were raped by your own father? Where was Ilmater when I was beaten and tortured for two hundred years? Ilmater was the first human god I ever prayed to! And to him, I prayed for decades! And he never listened!"
"He did listen to you, Astarion! He... sent me."
A realization comes to you.
Astarion is the embodiment of all the suffering a mortal can endure. Everything that could be bad has already happened to him.
You are a savior.
But you're not saving the world, you're saving a man.
And the whole world he is.
Karlach willingly takes your place because it's the only way for her to survive.
You leave the city hand in hand with Astarion - he wants to see the world, and you know there are many people who need your help.
Over the years, you notice that Astarion's attitude towards Ilmater and the whole idea of "saving the less fortunate" changes.
Sometimes he prays with you.
He has read all the sacred texts dedicated to the The Rack-Broken Lord.
He won't admit it, but he recognizes himself in the image of Ilmater.
You, too, have changed.
You are more selfish now, for you need to save yourself before you save anyone else.

7, 12, 30 for the Tav ask!
Tumblr media
30 Questions for your Tav
Anna - Half-Elf, Artisan, Warlock (Arch Fey) & Light Cleric of Tymora
7. What circumstances led to your Tav becoming their Class/Subclass?
Anna entered into a pact shortly after fleeing an abusive lover. It was not the best of plans, to just leave him and Baldur’s Gate as fast as possible for another city where she could start over but she feared for her life. How she met her patron one could say was a whole lucky meet-cute story. She literally stumbled over them and profusely apologized. Charmed by her sweet nature, good manners and also finding out why she was in such a hurry, the fey extended to her a bargain for power and also taught her how to enchant her goods. However, all of Anna’s enchantments always turn out to have a tiny bit of chaos to them but nothing her customers will ever notice… usually.
Unlike Wyll, Anna and her patron have a mostly respectful, sometimes chaotic, very protective, and loving relationship. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Anna is well aware fey can be fickle, easily offended, and therefore dangerous. For starters, she suspects her patron is behind her abusive lover’s untimely and grisly demise. Something she found out years later after her patron coaxed her into returning to Baldur’s Gate with assurances that with her new powers, she would not need to leave and she could disappear easily enough in the large city.
Currently, her patron on occasion only asks her to do some odd and seemingly harmless things to set off a little chaos in the world. What seems like a few setups for pranks or displacing a stone from a circle of them in some forest. Some of these things lead to disastrous results but nothing fatal for anyone… usually. Her patron loves chaos like most fey and was tickled pink when she stole the Blood of Lathander mace. Anna is also obligated to help other fey in need from the Seelie court like the pixie in the lamp. Killing fey from the Unseelie court such as hags and redcaps also delights her patron as well.
As for her becoming a Light Cleric of Tymora, that happened later. I guess all those prayers for luck and in offering gratitude along with her boldness when it came to adventure caught the goddess's attention. With it came some of her divine favor.
12. What opinion does your Tav have about the Gods?
It all depends upon the god or goddess. Although she leans towards good-aligned deities she doesn’t give a hoot who one worships so long as it doesn’t cause any harm to those she cares about, herself, and any nearby innocents. She's not deeply motivated to convert anyone. However, she did think Shadowheart was naive for worshiping Shar. A thought she kept to herself for the most part as she gently guided Shadowheart back to her original goddess Selûne.
To most deities, she’s not about to push her luck and be rude. Any stranger that crosses her path she strives to always be polite because one can never know when one will show up in disguise. If they offer her a boon for completing a task she would rarely pass the chance up.
Out of all of them Tymora, Anna prays to the most followed by extending respects to Jergal, Lathander, Ilmater, Loviatar, and Corellon Larethian too.
30. What are your Tav’s intentions/goals after the end of the game?
Besides, scold Dammon for treating her like a carrier pigeon and then promptly seduce him if she hasn't already? She wants to go back to making jewelry, drawing, sculpting, and painting. She wants to wallow in luxury at least for a few months after roughing it for so long and have a few kids. More adventure? Naw… well not unless it’s to help Dammon, and Wyll find a solution for Karlach's heart. Or help Astarion find a cure or some solution so he can walk in the sun again along with helping keep seven thousand spawn in the Underdark in check.
Thank you for the asks!!! <3

Doctor notes, entry 36 Book 2 of the Goldenfields group
summary things of note since last entry alleyway, hallucinations, morning in triboar. performance of omricks tale, leaving triboar. Stone giant fight. Lyms loss her holy magic/powers. realization of the cause / why: bane turning the spells into powerless illusions. why are we going back to Triboar. staying in a different fancier tavern. Lym talks with Baras and omrick about faith and possible deities, and about what to do. my prayer to the gods. lym’s dream? mystery patron. what are we gonna do now that lym has no divine magic? sneezing she is gone. but she is still here. i did not sleep. i found the others by the tavern and spoke with Baras and Lym. omrick wasnt present thank the gods. but I Still. See. Her. though others dont seem to notice her, but she is there, she always there, even when she isnt. Im keeping my distance from Omrick for now. he "seems" upset but, there is no telling what he'll do. need to keep my distance. he needs to stay away from me. he tried to tell another story, but is wasnt as good as the last time. I'm not sure if its actually omrick There havnt been any other signs that something is different about him. but i cant be certain. i have to keep my eye on him. we uh.... fought a stone giant. considering our luck with that one hill giant we spoke with, Baras was curious to try and converse with it. it uh... only “spoke” with its intricately carved stone pillar or.... mace. and the an5wer that Baras received was mostly in dents. ( note to self , help Baras fix the final few dents he sustained ) Omrick managed to land the killing blow, towards the end of the fight the giant told us to leave and threatened to launch omrick like a boulder into plains. we lowered our weapons and backed up, but omrick didnt seem to agree and kept fighting in its grasp. Baras decided to explode it with fire in the end after seeing that retreating was proving difficult. and Omrick smote the giant down. I think that was a relatively Omrick thing to do? More importantly after the battle it became apparent that Lym’s div1ne magic has stopped working. it seems that all of her spells become self imposed illusions, and that Bane is no longer providing her with actually divine power. the only thing she seems capable of casting is the sending spell that her mystery goddess is providing her. Baras and I theorized a bit more bit that was pretty much the conclusion we came to Lym seems worried about her lack of divine magic, she is still a very capable fighter though. But the loss of her magic se3ms to have lost her quite a big part of her identity. atleast to herself. Ive been trying to think of someway to help our out. combined with that, and... omrick, I didnt really pay much attention during the rest of the day. I did think of something stupid and unlikely to perhaps help her out? to help maybe help myself a bit, and the others. But i highly doubt its going to be of any use. or thats it even gone work at all Not happy with the fact that we are back in triboar, Lym had a discussion about deities with Omrick and Baras but i want really paying attention. been distracted and, lack of sleep is catching up with me ever since the priest of Ilmater gave me the amulet, ive been contemplating religion a bit more... maybe some of the conversation about Lym and her gods did seep its way into my subconscious. 6  I uh... wouldnt really consider myself a religious person. or someone with a lot of faith. Especially considering all thats happened to me. including yesterday... but i'm hesitant to admit that the thought of it does provide some comfort. so erm.... i thought why the hell not. try to pray sometime. see how that works. I did and have done do some studying on it, i mean considering the... issues im dealing with it could provide help. solutions.  i should stop beating around the bush, i tried praying. i send my thoughts to whomever it may conern up there. in hopes of receiving any sort of help, including my friends. i think thats what you include in prayers from my studies. and uh.... i actually got a reply... i think?  It very much startled me at first, I thought that.... She was nearby. ( i mean it still might have been her. i dont really know for certain. i hope not) but i did hear a reply of sorts. from somebody atleast. and after I calmed down a bit.... i felt a lot more... i dont know. calm, reassured. im not sure. at the very least i slept quite well. very good actually two.  I had another dream however. it seems that the unicorn pillow is providing dreams about horseback riding? quite a bit. which is still a very welcome relief 4nd change of pace from the nightmares. dont get me wrong I did wake up with a bit of a cold the next morning. dont know if its hay fever ironically enough. but... the sneezing was a bit odd

Would you be willing to answer 1-3 for your other characters too?
(in reference to these posts)
I admittedly don’t have as much lore for them since Bell is my only character so far to have been used in more than just a oneshot campaign, but I’m up for trying!
(Under a cut due to length)
For Saurivir:
1. why did they choose their class(es)? their subclass(es)?
Saurivir is a simple lizard with simple motivations. Her tribe needed a hunter and she was good at tracking and shooting things, so she became a hunter. Things didn’t last with her tribe, but after being banished to survive the wilds alone, her skills as a ranger only became more vital.
2. before they met their party, what was their main goal?
Survival. Independence. Her first venture as leader of a hunting party was cut short by a Bullywug ambush. She was injured and two of her subordinates were killed, which quickly led to gossip among her people that she was unfit to lead and a danger to the tribe. By the time the elders came to deliver the news she was exiled, she was already tired of the rumors and ready to leave. Saurivir then spent several years traveling the land, seeing what wonders impartial Nature had to offer while she did was she needed to keep her hide intact and her belly full.
3. what is their goal right now?
The preservation of the Material Plane from forces of chaos.
Saurivir was part of a oneshot campaign run by my brother. It dealt with powerful champions assembling to fight a series of escalating battles with various Giants. If memory serves, it ended with a Storm Giant, the daughter of the King of the Giants, granting the party boons and then essentially declaring them worthy of fighting alongside her people in a coming apocalyptic war with entities from other planes/universes/something. My brother asked if he could have our characters make cameos in a related campaign he’s running for another group, and I said “HELL yes”, so I think Saurivir now sits on a council of extremely powerful warriors and is preparing to eventually kick some Beholder ass.
For Luzon:
1. why did they choose their class(es)? their subclass(es)?
Luzon was orphaned at a very young age and was raised by the acolytes in a Temple of Ilmater. As he grew, so too did his devotion to the god whose followers had become his family. He took the teachings of Ilmater to heart and vowed to use all his strength to protect the meek and heal the broken, no matter the personal cost. (He’s a Life Cleric, if that wasn’t clear lol)
2. before they met their party, what was their main goal?
Luzon had always been a kind and empathetic soul, and thus his only possible response to the pain and suffering of the world was to venture out on a pilgrimage to help where he could. His travels were often aimless, guided only by the intuition granted by his patron deity until he inevitably stumbled upon someone in need, whom he would stop at nothing to heal, protect, or otherwise aid in whatever way he could. He had no grand ambitions or long-term goals--his only wish was to alleviate suffering in the here and now.
3. what is their goal right now?
So, this character was a part of the SAME oneshot as Saurivir (I played 2 characters simultaneously). I also agreed to let my brother use him as a cameo in the other campaign, but I don’t know as much about the details with him. I think instead of being part of the council like Saurivir and their other party members, Luzon was sent out to recruit/spread the word about the upcoming invasion/war. So it could be said his current goal is to raise an army strong enough to carve out a decisive win, reducing the overall bloodshed needed to end the conflict.
...So yeah. Neither is as fleshed out as Bell, but I’m surprised at how much I still love Saurivir’s backstory after all this time. Luzon especially was always pretty bare-bones and just kind of acts as a party healer with a martyr theme. I also have a centaur druid named Callisto but she’s even less developed since I didn’t really give her a proper backstory--she just lives on a forested island with her clan and doesn’t trust outsiders. Maybe someday I’ll use these guys in something else, give them a little more substance. Especially my aloof lizard daughter. I love her.

Goathead the God // Psycho Killer
Tumblr media
I was so excited when I found this picture was it’s basically what I imagine Hal to look like. Love the wrapping. There could definitely be some kind of deadly magical hand shenanigans going on beneath them. Handsome, but his features are not that readily identifiable. I do, however, imagine his clothes to be much more understated--more a peasant’s Sunday Best at the most. His modus operandi is to be unmemorable, to blend into a crowd with his Mask of Many Faces and do as he pleases. Nobody seems to quite have the same idea of what Hal looks like or what he is. Cheerful, charming, a fantastic performer; or a cruel and calculating entity with sinister intentions. Everybody remembers Goathead the Great. Nobody remembers Hal.
Persephone was created with the intention of being a foil to Goathead. Certain differences are more overt than others. F/M, Pure Melee/Pure Magic, Quiet/Loud, “Mean”/”Nice.” Their true dichotomy lies in their distinct similarities and how they have actualized in disparate directions from them.
Even longer post b/c I got high and went on tangents about Goathead because he’s apparently my little Satan baby.
Intent
Zapp Branigan was the inspiration behind Goathead. Good people, long to be seen as the hero, but chaotic and selfishly clinging onto dear life. There was always that seed of selfishness in him, even when I intended for him to be the wholly good hero, but the more they explored the Abyss, the more he shifted from Chaotic Good to a purely self-serving Neutral Evil, and then to whatever he has been up to since he left.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand was the initial inspiration for her characterization, but if my only memories of the show is some vague recollection from ten years ago of cheering, then Spartacus fucking the hell out of someone. Which raises the question: what does a person like that do when they leave their Colosseum?
With that in mind and her being a foil to Goathead, I intend for Persephone’s story to be that of redemption. From a purely hedonistic Chaotic Evil to a Neutral Good that does what they must for the greater good. Just like Goathead’s, who know’s if what I intend will actually come to fruition.
Identity and Goals
If one were to ask Goathead how he got his name, he would feed them some bullshit about how as a precious babe, neither the elves nor the humans wanted him so he was left to perish in the wilds, but was saved by a gracious Tiefling woman who said that he clung onto her like a little goathead, and from then on he named himself Goathead to honor his new mother.
On a meta-level, his name comes from me forgetting to pick a name for him until the very last second, panicking, looking out the window and thinking of the goatheads in the driveway, and deciding to roll with it because it sounded cool. I’m sure his first time going by Goathead was spurred by a similar incident. Not a lot of Wisdom, that one. Although, upon searching for any kind of symbolism for goatheads besides clinginess, I was reminded of the fact that goat heads have a significant symbolism behind them. A lot.
Tumblr media
Baphomet is a symbol that is meant to represent the sum total of all things in the universe, acting both as parallel and paradox, showing the observer and student alike that concepts like “good” and “evil” exist only through perspective, and that all creatures, things, and ideas have a dark and light side within. Through Levi’s description we find that Baphomet is a symbolic representation of balance and necessity, in all things.
In reality, Goathead grew up with a loving family with a steady income, a nice home, a loving family, and no real problems in the city. On a whim, he decided to learn how to play the lute, found he was really talented at it, and started playing in local taverns. He was enraptured by the stories more well-traveled performers and patrons would tell him until he managed to persuade a bard to let him tag along with them and teach him their ways.
Hal had so much fun roaming the countryside town-to-town. Although the city was vast, he never ventured too far from home because not all people took too kindly to half elves. And his teacher was also a hero! They would often save merchants from bandits or travelers from actual monsters. And sometimes these people would give them rewards for helping them! Delicious wines and cheeses that were heaven after begrudgingly getting used to hunting game and chalky rations, gold pieces, beautiful trinkets, and even promises. One grateful traveler even gave him a ring made out of platinum. He had never handled anything bigger than a sickle back home, and now he was just wearing platinum. Even better, that man didn’t seem to know that this plain band of incredibly expensive metal could let him look like whatever he wanted (Ring of Alter Self; how we retconned him going from a halfling to a half elf).
Getting the ring was the beginning of the end. If this ring could make him look even more handsome than he already was, and their songs could charm people, what else could magic do? Could it give him castles full of riches? Would everyone learn his name? Better yet--a different name. He was sick of the stupid nicknames, people calling him “Hunky Hal” and pinching his high cheekbones and thin arms. Even better: could he make them comply to his whims? What power could magic give him?
Goathead was a sheltered city boy that left home to travel world, play his music with his pals, and save a princess or two. On her (maybe floating) mountain, Persephone also had everything she could possibly want. But it was torn from her, where Goathead willingly left it. The pleasures of the world sustain Goathead and leave him starving for more more more from wherever he can get it. Persephone lived in hell, ate from its fruit, is still trying to purge herself of it through her good deeds.
Secrets
Both characters are incredibly secretive. Goathead is obvious: hiding his identity, creating the persona of a really genial and upstanding fellow when really he is malevolent and calculating. Goathead is defined by his shadiness and will take his many secrets to the grave.
Persephone also has her secrets: her homeland, her angelic ancestry and relationship with Ilmater, her time with the monks, and the many missions she must fulfill. While she has mellowed out a great deal from dying all the time, she’s still an asshole. Just more aloof. She doesn’t see the point in getting close to people that will probably just die. If you open up, you get attached, then it hurts all the more when they don’t come back like you do. Despite this, she is just more guarded than straight up shady like Goathead. Her secrets are more of omission because no one asks too many questions of the dumb brute, and she knows this.
Suffering
I made Goathead’s playlist way before I made Persephone’s, but since they’re foils and I’m extra, I decided to have one song that’s in both of theirs. The song is supposed to be Wave of Mutilation, but I already wrote a bunch there and didn’t want to change the order of the playlist. It works because they’re both Psycho Killers, so whatever, but I don’t think it really works for him because there’s a hint of regret or remorse, but Goathead does not feel those emotions.
Both of them lost their minds at some point: Persephone in the monastery and Goathead when he lost his hand. Suffering drove Persephone to be stronger for her god and be better. Losing his hand and indelibly marring his person was the final breaking point for what remained of his good will. Nothing would tarnish his perfection. He would find a better hand and stronger magic and ensure nothing would ever hurt him again. From then on, the basis of his characterization became less Zapp Brannigan and more The Count of Monte Cristo Without a Cause. Persephone spends every moment of her life knowing she will suffer and that each moment may be her last.
Tumblr media
Freedom
Again, Goathead is a creature defined by his desire for the freedom to do whatever he wants. While not quite inherently malevolent in nature, he is to those that get in his way, or that he believes are beneath him... which is most people. Goathead had always been free, up until he made a pact with some unknown Great Old entity. Probably many unknown entities at this point. Now he owes some of his much-coveted power to something he cannot even comprehend.
In contrast, Persephone has lived most of her life in service to others; first her slavery with the monks, then enlisting with the Dragonborn Confederacy to escape from them. She doesn’t quite know what Ilmater and her Angelic Guide expect from her besides cryptic statements about suffering well and home, but she trusts that what happens is his bidding and it will all be worth it one day. I believe that they have a genuinely good relationship, but I may be wrong.
