About a month ago, I read 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' based on a recommendation from a friend. It had some good points and bad ones.
Good points:
It is super important for me to have discussions with my kids about how to handle money, what their options are with the money I've given them, and what that means for standard of living, activities, etc.
It is very important in people's lives to have someone advising them about money, instead of just leaving them to fend for themselves and figure it out on their own.
If you already have money (like tens or hundreds of thousands of unencumbered cash), then there are a lot of relatively low risk, low labor means to put that money to work for you and generate income. It's a lot less tedious than, say, working for a living. But you have to have the money FIRST.
The various principles laid out in the book caused me to move my money around. Now instead of retiring in 4 years and leaving nothing to my kids in inheritance unless I died early, because I'd need everything to fund my retirement, I'm going to retire end of next year and leave millions, assuming I live that long. And if I don't, then there will still be a nest egg. Same standard of living for me either way.
Bad points:
Gotdamn does this guy undersell how hard it is to get your hands on enough money to start with to do this. It takes generations and he doesn't acknowledge that.
He also undersells the value and rarity of someone giving you good advice at every turn, feeding you opportunities, and picking you up when you fall ... and never victimizing or abusing you in the process.
He makes almost no mention of the severe adversities many people find in their lives, like chronic health problems, useless or abusive partners, addiction, expensive hobbies, terrible families, bad luck, accidents, legal problems, and the like. Some of these you have a little control over; a lot of them you don't; and even with barely controllable things like partners and family you don't know its bad until its already bad and its not exactly too late at that point, but it really sucks.
So anyway, I tried to get my kids to listen to the audiobook. No dice. I found it on YouTube for free. No doing. I bought the guy's Cashflow board game. Huzzah! They played it a couple times. This let us talk about things. (I mean, I'd already tried talking to them, but trying to discuss the relative merits of savings account vs t-bills vs etfs was not making much progress.)
We talked about:
What's a mortgage and why can't I just be homeless and not pay that
Why are my expenses so high
Why are children expensive
Why do I have to pay for a loan (I was surprised and shocked they only barely understood interest rates. My inability to communicate effectively about investments made sense now. I have failed as a parent. But I'm trying to fix it.) also: why is a credit score important
What the fuck why does this boat cost so damn much?!? (the boat is the most expensive piece of shit doodad you can get saddled with in the game; I talked to them about the dangers of expensive hobbies)
OH MY FUCKING GOD I ONLY MISSED ONE PAYCHECK AND I AM RUINED (because ... yeah. that's real)
What does 'yield' mean
What's a trading range
And a bunch of other things. I also talked to them about the things the game does not include, those things I mentioned earlier like accidents, addictions, lawsuits, and health problems, or the same happening to anyone you financially support or feel beholden to, like a partner or child or possibly parent. I talked to them about the mentality of 'my savings always gets wasted on emergencies so why bother having any', which is valid and real, as well as a rational reaction to a maddingly irrational situation.
An interesting thing about the game - there's no rule for or against giving money to each other. And it makes a huge difference in propelling someone from the rat race stage of the game where you're working for a living and into the cashflow part of the game where your money is working for you instead. In the two games we played, I ended up ahead early each time (half of this I credit to good decisions while my kids were making dumb ones, even after I told them they were dumb choices; half was probably luck). But each time once I had my position secured, I started giving wads of cash to them and it was remarkable how much that improved their situation.
Kind of like real life.
I also read Bullshit Jobs a couple weeks ago and it ends with a lovely piece about the social value of universal basic income. Which, yeah. We need to do that.

LOOKING FOR A VERY INVOLVED BETA READER
Looking for a beta reader for:
Title: If We Never Make It Back to California: I Want You to Know I Love You (First of a series, unfinished)
Fandoms: Gravity Falls, Invader Zim, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (The second part involves The Owl House but the second part isn't public yet)
Other info: Before you ask, I don't have Discord.
Rated M, because I curse so frequently and there's some pretty involved angst and violence, but sexual material is kept to the absolute minimum because I'm NOT very comfortable with sexual content involving characters that are minors in canon. There's also very in-depth discussions of eating disorders, gender dysphoria, and slef-harm. Warnings include Graphic Depictions of Violence and Major Character Death.
The fic is intended for those who have seen Invader Zim in its entirety, and know important context from lost/deleted episodes. ETF and the comics, however, aren't really brought up in the fic. It will likely be confusing to those unfamiliar with Gravity Falls. You could possibly read and understand it if you haven't read JtHM or it's spinoffs, but it probably would hit a little harder if you're at least somewhat familiar with JtHM, Squee, and I Feel Sick. Lots of references to other cartoons.
Genrewise, I'd consider it a mix of just straight up fluff with angst. It has an underlying murder-without-much-mystery plot but it takes a backseat to some mundane, everyday things at times. It's a future-fic that I try to make somewhat trope-aware. It has a crossover ship (Dipper Pines x Dib Membrane) that very much started for Crack Purposes but at this point I'm extremely invested.
Summary (directly from AO3): "Featuring my horrid music taste, eighteen-year-old Dib Membrane drives across states to visit West Virginia, home of his future college. Professor Membrane doesn't approve, and complications arise after his mysterious and conveniently-timed death. But there's always a pair of paranormally-disadvantaged twins across the country for Dib to rely on. They always have their own problems, though, and the involvement of some of Dib's interesting extended family isn't helping his relationship with Dipper Pines- or maybe her relationship? Not even Dib knows. Either way, there are many possibly murderous road trips to be had, body insecurities to be unsuccessfully avoided, the occasional romantic drama for shits-and-giggles, and a coffee-shop side plot here and there.TL;DR: Dib and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Summer"
Common problems you may find: This is my first big fic and I'm not an experienced or "good" writer. I try to keep my spelling and grammar intact, though. I get ranty and occasionally stray out of character, though I try hard to keep it in character, because then what's the point of fanfic? I use crutch words like "smiled" and "sighed" a lot and I feel I may have pacing issues. I'm asking for a beta because I have no idea where these issues actually are, if I use them too much in certain parts, etc. I'm a panster and I tend to DUMP text on the page, accounting for the hefty word count I may need help knowing how to combine scenes or plot points. I also generally like knowing when I've accidentally done something rude, had a plot hole, or made a stupid/juvenile mistake. I also need new chapter names because I started the fic a long time ago, and chose exclusively lyrics from really cringey songs and haven't bothered changing just about anything. Plus I need to get some good foreshadowing in for part two.
Word Count/Update Info: Word count is 104,965 on AO3 but I will send you the link to my Google Doc, where it has the ongoing word count. You will see part two on the doc, but I am only concerned with part one for the time being. I update at least once a month, but sometimes two or three times. The fic is VERY close to finished and my projected word count for part one is 110,000.
What I'll do in exchange: My pretty exhaustive list of fandoms (both past and present) is: BoJack Horseman , Creepypasta , Daria , Doki Doki Literature Club , Five Nights at Freddy's , Gorillaz , Gravity Falls , Happy Tree Friends , Helluva Boss , Homestuck , Invader Zim , Johnny the Homicidal Maniac , Moral Orel , My Little Pony , Percy Jackson/Related R Riordan Books (it's been a while though) , Phineas and Ferb , Saw (Movies) , South Park , Team Fortress Two , The Amazing World of Gumball , The Owl House , Undertale and Deltarune. The only things I'm not comfy with are pornography specifically of real life people, pedophilia, incest, or underage. But otherwise that's alright. My max word count is 150k but other than that I will beta read anything in those fandoms.
Thank you!

Hey remember when I gushed about that columbo episode? forgotten lady? thats still my favorite episode, god damn i love it. but today marks the discovery of my least favorite episode, the first one i activley did not enjoy watching: Last Salute to the Commodore!
Where do I fucking begin. You can tell theres something off right off the bat, cuz it starts after the murder had already take place and the clean/cover up phase had begun. that wouldnt be too much of a bother, just perhaps leaving a little room for the viewer to speculate how it really went down. But it continues on a down hill trend. The guy who thought was the murderer ends up murdered halfway thru the episode. This also could have made for a cool switch up of the formula, a cool subversion of expectations that leaves the viewer puzzled. But it was not at all earned, and its so sudden. It just cuts to a shot of him dead, no build up. And when you find out who the actual murderer is, it still is not earned. There was no foreshadowing or hints that alluded to their true identity, nothing that you could pick up on a second watch through and clock as an allusion to the big reveal.
Usually when columbo is walkin himself or someone else through evidence, it makes sense, and makes you go "oooooooooo... good catch main". But instead every time those moments come up i go "dude what the FUCK are you talking about!" Instead of sounding like a deep thinker solving a puzzle, he sounds like a bumbling moron trying in vain to comorehend the simpliest of things.
And you know who directed this shit eater of an episode??? Patrick fucking McGoohan! etf dude!!! stick to acting, chuckle fuck!
And columbo felt so grabby the entire time, to the point where it made me uncomfortable. I felt bad for whoevers neck he had in his clutches at every moment. Theres this one seen where he leens up so close to this meditating girls head. I was expecting him to take a deep sniff and go "you smell beautiful my love...". Columbo shouldnt be creepy! He should be a bro! with some gay undertones sprinkled here and there! Fuck!

Even though rates are going up, municipal bonds are doing well
Even though interest rates are going up, municipal bonds are still doing well. The yield on tax-free municipal bonds is now at its highest level in more than a decade. Many munis are not taxed at the federal level, and some are also not taxed at the state or local level. This could help investors in higher tax brackets because it could increase the amount of money they get from the bond.
Tax-exempt bonds give investors a lot of benefits, like the chance to invest in low-risk, high-return investments that usually don't have to pay federal income taxes. They also let you avoid paying state income taxes or capital gains taxes on dividends you get from investing in these bonds.
Even though interest rates have been going up, municipal bonds have done well over the past year. This is because they are generally safe and can also help protect against inflation.
Investors can buy municipal bonds in a number of ways, such as through a bond mutual fund or ETF (exchange-traded fund), a bank, or an online brokerage account. Also, many funds offer a range of maturity dates and quality levels so that investors can choose what works best for them.
Tax-exempt bonds are an important way for the government to pay for a wide range of projects, including schools, hospitals, water and sewer facilities, and public power utilities. But the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 made a big change by getting rid of advance refunding. This was a key tax exemption that let issuers refinance their debt when interest rates went down.
When it comes to risk and return, high-yield municipal bonds are a great choice for investors who want tax-free income that is often less volatile than Treasury bonds.  With the Federal Reserve on a path to tightening, now is a good time to think about adding to your portfolio of fixed-income investments.
Even though more money has been leaving the market this year, the municipal bond market has been strong with good returns. It usually gets back on track the year after a bad year, and its 4.1% gain this year suggests it may be on track for another good year.
Even though interest rates will remain unstable, municipal bonds should give good returns this year. Their yields are pretty good compared to other fixed-income sectors, and since the Fed is likely to keep raising rates, they'll likely be better than Treasury bonds in 2023. A low supply of municipal bonds and strong credit fundamentals should also keep municipal prices and yields high.
Even though interest rates are going up, municipal bonds have done well, which shows why tax-aware investors are putting them in their long-term portfolios. With a history of low default rates, municipal bonds are also a safe investment with a good chance of making money in the years to come.
The credit rating agencies have given them a grade of AAA, AA, or A (see Exhibit 1). These ratings show how strong the issuer's finances are.
As federal stimulus spreads through the economy and boosts revenues and cash flow, the demand for municipal bonds stays strong. A lack of new issues also helps to keep demand high.
Higher interest rates are still a worry, though. Consumer Price Index Swaps are one type of alternative investment that can help investors make up for losses. A well-balanced municipal bond portfolio should also include opportunities in mid-grade and high-yield credits, which may offer more ways to make money.
Diversification means putting your money into many different kinds of investments. This helps lower risk and makes it more likely that you will be able to ride out the ups and downs of your portfolio.
A diversified portfolio is made up of different types of assets, like stocks, bonds, commodities, and cash. This can also make the chances of a recession less likely.
Diversifying your investments can also help protect your wealth if you lose one of your investments. For instance, if you put all of your money into stocks and the market crashes, your whole portfolio will lose money.
Even though interest rates have been going up recently, municipal bonds have done well and continue to be a good deal. The yields on municipal bonds have gone up less often and are smaller than those on taxable bonds. They also have low correlations with other asset classes.

Buy Silver or Gold - Gold Well Live
Buy Silver or Gold?
Tumblr media
Precious metals like Silver and Gold hold a special place in many societies. These valuable commodities have been used as art, jewelry, and currency for centuries. In the modern age, they also make popular alternatives to traditional Investment assets like Stocks and Bonds.
But as investors, knowing how to fold Precious metals into a modern Portfolio strategy is a bit tricky. As with all Investments, it’s wise to consider the advantages and risks of purchasing and managing these unique assets.
So, is it better to buy Silver or Gold?
The answer isn’t so simple.
Tumblr media
Table of Contents
Pros and Cons of Precious metalsPros and cons of buying GoldPros and cons of buying SilverIs it better to buy Silver or Gold?Whether it's better to buy Silver or Gold, consider how
Pros and Cons of Precious metals
Before we dive into the merits of Silver vs. Gold, let’s look at what Precious metals as an asset class bring to the table.
Tumblr media
Pro: Tangible - and portable - assets
When you buy Precious metals, you’re actually investing in tangible assets you can see and hold. That level of physical involvement appeals to many investors who prefer “real” assets. Not to mention, you can take them anywhere in the world – even if you don’t have internet access.
Con: Added costs
Tangible metals incur extra inconveniences, including:
<li "="" =""=""The time, financial, and spatial costs of transporting, storing, and insuring your Investments/lili "="" =""="">The commissions dealers charge to cover distribution costs <li "="" =""=""Potential premiums on collectibles like Coins/lili "="" =""="">Up to 28% in capital gains taxes on any profits from selling your Gold and Silver
While some Investments like Gold IRAs and ETFs can circumvent or minimize some of these costs, doing your research first is crucial.
Pro: Inflation hedges
Inflation occurs when the price of goods and services rise over time, diminishing the dollar’s spending power. To protect against souring economies and decreased purchasing power, some investors turn to Silver and Gold. As physical commodities that are in limited supply, these Precious metals provide “safe havens” to store value and hedge against Inflation.
Tumblr media
Con: Speculative Investments
Unlike paper assets like Stocks, Precious metals don’t inherently produce income. The only way to profit is to sell your asset for more than you paid. Additionally, their limited supply and uses expose them to unique price volatilities.
These factors make Silver and Gold speculative Investments – that is, buying them involves speculating on their future price movements. While this isn’t inherently bad, it can be risky, and should prompt investors to be clear about the purpose of Precious metals in their Portfolio.
Pro: Diversification
Precious metals can bring diversification to any Portfolio by spreading your dollars into assets that don’t move with regular Financial markets. In doing so, you can prop up your Portfolio when Stocks, Bonds, or Real Estate crash yet again.
Tumblr media
Con: Less liquidity than "traditional" assets
Another risk of investing in Silver and Gold is the relative lack of liquidity. Finding and dealing with a buyer requires more time and energy than trading paper assets like Stocks and Bonds. Plus, Precious metals markets often face higher transaction costs and pricing inefficiencies that eat into your profits.
Pros and cons of buying Gold
Now that we’ve established the advantages and risks of Precious metals as a whole, we can scrutinize the specifics. Here, we’ll look at the pros and cons of buying Gold compared to Silver.
Tumblr media
Pro: Gold Has More Limited Supply
In 2019, some 27,000 tons of Silver were mined globally, while just 3,300 tons of Gold were produced. For investors, this limited supply means that Gold tends to hold its value higher and more resiliently than the more common Silver.
Con: Gold Has Less Short-Term Growth Potential
Precious metals investors often look to the Gold-Silver ratio to compare the value of the two assets. Historically, this ratio has stayed between 10:1 and 15:1, indicating that Gold is usually 10-15x more valuable than Silver.
In the last few years, however, this ratio has fluctuated between 65:1 and 121:1, suggesting that Gold has gained value far faster than Silver. Unfortunately, that leaves Gold far less room to grow in favor of Silver’s undervaluation. In other words, Silver may have more short-term growth potential than Gold.
Tumblr media
Pro: The Gold Market Has Greater Liquidity
Silver is easier to obtain than Gold – and yet, due to these enormous price differences, the Gold market boasts greater price liquidity. Though Gold moves slower, leading to smaller short-term gains, it also tends to retain its value better in various economic conditions.
Tumblr media
Pro: Gold Sees More Growth Over Time
In the last century, Gold and Silver haven’t enjoyed the same growth as Stocks or Bonds. Though they hold their value well, they tend to experience less upward-trending price volatility.
However, when compared to each other, Gold sees much higher long-term growth than Silver.
For example, between September 1922 and 2022, Gold experienced an Inflation-adjusted increase of 347%. In contrast, Silver grew just 57% in the same period. While both assets saw periods of volatility that produced greater returns, as long-term Investments go, Gold takes the cake over Silver.
Tumblr media
Pros and cons of buying Silver
So far, we’ve covered the advantages and disadvantages of Precious metals and Gold. Now, let’s consider the pros and cons of buying Silver.
Tumblr media
Pro: Silver is More Affordable
Because Silver is far more abundant, it’s the cheaper of the two metals. While higher supply somewhat depresses prices, it also means that investors can more easily afford an ounce of Silver. Plus, Silver has more use cases, so when it’s time to sell out, you may have more options.
Con: Silver Has Greater Global Supply
Tumblr media
On the other hand, Silver’s higher supply means that the metal will likely never achieve the same enormous gains Gold has seen in recent years. The higher supply also leads to greater physical liquidity, meaning that the market has more wiggle room for volatility.
Pro: Silver Has Greater Short-term Growth Potential
While Gold is potentially overvalued compared to Silver according to the Gold-Silver ratio, that means Silver is undervalued compared to Gold. Effectively, this leaves Silver with enormous opportunities for growth to catch up to Gold’s massive gains.
Con: Silver is More Susceptible to Economic Activities
Both Silver and Gold can diversify your Portfolio and hedge against Inflation.
However, of the two, Silver is more correlated with the markets and economic activities. (Partly because Silver offers more industrial utility, and partly due to its increased supply.)
As a result, the white metal is more likely to suffer economic-induced volatility. For investors, that makes Silver a riskier bet that’s more susceptible to downturns and speculative investing.
Con: Silver Requires More Storage Space
Because Silver is less dense than Gold, a one-ounce Gold bar is almost half the size of a one-ounce Silver bar. At the same time, Silver is less valuable than Gold, meaning that purchasing an equivalent dollar amount leaves you with more physical Silver.
Or, in concise terms: no matter which way you slice it, Silver requires more storage space than Gold. And as your Investments grow, that inevitably contributes to increased storage and insurance costs that eat into your potential profits.
Is it better to buy Silver or Gold?
So far, our comparison makes it appear that Silver offers fewer upsides and greater risk than Gold. To some, that might suggest that Gold is always the better bet.
Tumblr media
However, it’s important to note that we haven’t weighted these pros and cons – merely laid them out for you to see.
Tumblr media
True, for some investors, the hedging potential and lower global supply of Gold makes it the more obvious choice. The metal tends to encounter less volatility, hold its value better, and is more popular among some investors.
But for others, Silver’s increased affordability and short-term growth potential outweigh its higher volatility and increased storage costs.
In other words, we’re going to repeat the advice you’ve probably heard a thousand times before: whether it’s better to buy Silver or Gold depends on you. Ultimately, you alone can properly weigh your needs, goals, and financial situation against the potential risks and benefits of adding Precious metals to your Investment strategy.
How to buy Silver or Gold
Tumblr media
After you decide if, when, and how much Gold and Silver to buy, there’s another question to tackle: how should you add these metals to your Portfolio?
For some investors, the ability to physically own and touch their assets is important. But, as we’ve discussed, buying tangible Bullion increases your costs, not to mention the risk of theft.
Another avenue involves purchasing Gold-related equities, like Mining stocks or ETFs. While these assets offer potential appreciation value and even dividends, it’s not quite the same as buying Silver and Gold outright.
That leaves one of our personal favorites: Gold IRAs, also called Precious metal IRAs.
These tax-advantaged Retirement accounts allow investors to purchase physical Precious metals without breaking the bank with added costs. Plus, their tax-advantaged status means that you may not have to pay taxes now – or, in a Roth IRA, potentially ever – on your capital gains.
To learn more about Gold IRA accounts reach out to one of the companies that offer these unique Investment vehicles. They have representatives available to answer your questions and they can provide you with resources that will explain all of the details.
At Gold Well Live we have evaluated numerous Gold IRA companies and determined that the Augusta Precious Metals IRA is the best overall. As we explain in the mini-review below, Augusta is dedicated to customer education. On top of this commitment to education Augusta has the distinction of receiving zero customer complaints at the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or any other rating agency.

About Me
After the dot com bubble popped I started researching Financial bubbles - how they evolve, how they pop, etc. I quickly realized that Gold is the only real money on planet Earth and in 2002 I bought my first Gold Coin. I've been investing in the shiny stuff ever since - both physical Precious metals and the Mining stocks. I've also studied the Financial markets, trading, Technical analysis, and the endless games that central banks play with fiat currencies. I do my best to share what I've learned with others - that's what you'll find here on Gold Well Live.

why do you think most folk DON’T really analyze the tallest or consider their pov in relation to ETF or just the florpus hole in general? do u think it has something to do with their “karmic justice” or w/e, the ooc-case to be made, or hell, the fact other characters might’ve outshone them
or none of these factors really who knows. Just. Why do u think they arent a popular topic of discussion despite suffering in that hole to an unknown fate even IN fan material that has them survive
oh god, uhm... i think its a combination of a lot of factors, honestly? i wouldnt really narrow it down to one factor, its this convergence of factors that ended up making a really shit ass soup that ended in this dismissal of the tallest
and in the latest installment of Me Not Keeping My Damn Mouth Shut, this is gonna be talking about The Fandom (derogatory) and things like the portrayal of acceptable vs unacceptable neurodivergency that i did in That One Post that got really big so i doubt this response is gonna be Very Popular but . without further ado lets Get To It
so i think the main problem, the thing that everything can be traced back to, is the separation between old vs new fandom
i wasn't too into the show before florpus, but i did have some peripheral observation with the fandom. the tallest were liked back then, not to the level of zim and dib but they were liked and had their own fandom. rapr as a ship was pretty widespread where it wouldnt be considered a "rarepair" if you were to seek content out, the tallest in fics were focused on more than they are today, all that good stuff.
and then florpus happened, and with it, a mass arrival of a bunch of new fans
which isn't bad!! it isn't bad at all
but a lot of these new fans know the tallest from florpus. they watched florpus first and from there formulated their favorite characters. to them, florups!tallest is the standard and show!tallest is the deviation. since they were so bad in florpus they discounted their characters in the show when they went back to watch it. its not their fault but its what i think happened
that in of itself isnt a bad thing but then.... a lot of the popular fandom people are new fans, who focus more on zim and dib. coupled with the zim fandom being pretty self-contained for a little while with no real New People showing up, then florpus happened and then we got all the "ZADRS DONT INTERACT!!!111!!" 14 year olds/maladjusted twentysomethings and then nobody wants to interact with them other than other self-proclaimed antis, 'cause zards dont like them and old fandom people dont like them. but theyre the ones making most of the tallest content (which still isnt.... much.)
so with this "fracturing" of the fandom, an already small fandom was split up into multiples of itself, each following a specific Big Creator (or a few specific ones) and having their own types of content. but the thing is with this new introduction of Those People, they started to push old fandom people out.
like. we all know what happened to recapkid, no?
the more insular communities are, the more they worship at the feet of a couple specific creators, the more and more "pushed out" anyone who isnt those creators feel.
and then they leave.
and then the popular creators get their shit spread more because of the lessening pool of fan content
and other people making fan content take inspiration from the popular creators who in of themselves only focus on the same characters (dib, zim, and maybe skoodge)
and then new people take inspiration from those fanworks and then it just becomes a circle and it makes the tallest be pushed to the side
back when the tallest were a bit more popular, about a year ago, all the people making content were anti-zadrs that nobody really wanted to interact with. i remember this one user's tallest stuff being on my dash until they went OFF about how zadr was disgusting and immoral and ew ew ew ew nobody that ships it should even come NEAR them and then boom. never fuckin' saw it again my guy
and another thing is... and i know this applies to a very small yet vocal minority but its still influential.... some people in this fandom have a very... odd view of neurodivergency headcanons
they only have certain headcanons that fit a narrow definition of "acceptable" and anything outside of that is discarded and discounted. i brought this up in my other post, dib is headcanoned as autistic and when certain people do that they also erase all his lil' creep tendencies or portray them as "not that bad" or the fault of others in his life Because He's Autistic And Has Such A Hard Time.
now i know autistic people struggle hard, believe me i know, but certain autistic people... use that as an excuse to get away with fucking anything. have a problem with their behavior? well, they're autistic, thats just how they are, get used to it!
(yes other people do this too. people with adhd and bpd are also the biggest culprits of this, and again, a vocal minority of them so dont get on my ass for Being Ableist)
so when people with that kind of mentality towards neurodivergency make ND headcanons, it really strips away a lot of the agency and nuance of a character.
and, in terms of the tallest.... what happens when a character can't fit into those boxes?
they're discarded.
i said in That Post, zim is headcanoned as autistic semi-often but (in my opinion) hits all the checkmarks for npd. so theres an overlap between "people that r Like That about neurodivergency" and "people who discount zim's role in the story to focus more on dib, the "good" neurodivergent character, as opposed to zim the "bad" neurodivergent character with the "bad" culture."
with the tallest, its kind of hard to make the argument that they have much of anything going on, at best. at worst you can make an argument, but its not an argument most want to hear
i gave the first chapter of anarchisma to a friend to beta, and they asked if i was going for an npd/aspd portrayal with red. i honestly wasn't, but seeing as i have those disorders, it seems pretty likely that id do it by accident
except i know someone else that this happened to, too, and they dont have those disorders. they just realized they were portraying red to be Like That unintentionally
the undertones are there and i think theres a lot of subconscious bias that turns people off from really doing a deep-dive analysis on someone like that. it all comes back to the idea that only Good Characters "deserve" things like introspection and Bad Characters don't. and since they watched florpus first, where a) the tallest were blatantly jerks just to be jerks and zim's bad traits wrt his relationship with the tallest were never touched upon and b) dib was the protagonist to zim's antagonist, then in their minds, dib is a "good" character, zim is a "good" character (but to a lesser degree than dib), and the tallest are "bad" characters, that don't deserve to be looked at under a lens
their traumas aren't looked at because, to some people, their traumas don't count.
its the "angry abuse victim" principle: generally speaking, everyone is sympathetic to you as an abuse victim if you're anxious, soft-spoken, and what i call "acceptably broken." this comes with its slew of infantilization dont get me wrong, but people for the most part believe that you were abused.
if you're angry, always were angry, fought back, never had nice words about your abusers, and developed "bad" disorders or the "bad" kind of PTSD what with the irritability and all... people don't believe you. you're never a victim, it's always "mutual abuse" or "you won't think like that when you're older" or "but its so hard to deal with you" or "maybe you're abusing us, fourteen year old child?"
if you can't be pitied, can't be seen as a frail little waif, then the general public wants nothing to do with you.
the tallest are not easily pitied. they're not frail little waifs. they're not "good" people, and they'll never be "good" trauma victims.
purple reacts with blind anger, blind detached anger, to a general concept rather than the exact event that traumatized him. he wants to fight it, and he wants to win. he wants to crush whatever hurt him under his heel, and then he'll be happy. then the nightmares will go away, then he'll stop being plagued by the thought of it, then he'll go back to being normal. and if it's something intangible like a florpus hole, he'll take it out on anyone around him.
red shuts down, emotionally. he goes and he goes until he can't go anymore and explodes into a violent display of self-mutilation and despair, a despair deeper than anything anyone's ever felt. then he snaps at you if you ever try to bring it up again. he doesn't want help, he laughs at the mere idea of help, because in his mind, he's both completely fine and utterly unfixable. what would a therapist do for him, that he couldn't do for himself? he was always wrong, how would he ever be corrected to exist as he should? there's no point in anything, so he'd best resign himself to the noises, the pain, the sheer depths of terror he'll have to relive over and over 'till he dies. he's braved his fair share of horrors through his life, he can just ignore this one like he did the rest. if he snaps, it'll be in a fit of rage, tears streaming down his face as his vision goes red and when he comes to, he'd have done something horrible, something he knows he can get away with because of his status, but does he even deserve to?
nobody wants to face that reality. nobody wants to see broken people being broken in a way they can't immediately empathize with.
it's easier to pity the pitiable, and ignore the rest.
so that's what they do.
and thats why nobody does tallest content anymore.

Income Purchasing Fantasyland: High Dividend Equity ETFs and Mutual Funds
Several decades back, while fielding questions at an AAII (American Association of Individual Investors) meeting in north east NJ, a comparison was made between a professionally directed"Market Cycle Investment Management" (MCIM) portfolio along with any of several"High Dividend Select" equity ETFs.
My response was: what's best for retirement readiness, 8 percent in-your-pocket income or 3 percent? Now's' answer would be 7.85% or 1.85percent ... and, of course, there is not one molecule of similarity between MCIM Programs and either ETFs or Mutual Funds. I simply took a (closer-than-I-normally-would-bother-to)"Google" at among those"best" high dividend ETFs and also a, similarly clarified, group of high-income Mutual Funds. The ETFs are"marked-to" an indicator like the"Dividend Achievers Select Index", and therefore are composed of mostly large capitalization US companies having a history of regular dividend gains. The Mutual Fund managers are tasked with maintaining a high volatility investment vehicle, and are anticipated to trade as market conditions justify; the ETF owns every collateral in its underlying index, each one of the time, regardless of market terms. For more details click here factor investing.
In accordance with their published numbers:
The four"2018's best" high volatility ETFs have a mean dividend yield (i.e., in your check book spending-money ) of... pause to catch your breath, 1.75%. Take a Look at: DGRW, DGRO, RDVY, and VIG. Equally income unspectacular, the"most useful" mutual-funds, even after marginally larger management fees, yield a whopping 2.0%. Now how can anyone hope to go on this level of income production with under the usual five approximately million dollar portfolio. It just can not be achieved without even selling securities, and unless your ETFs and funds proceed upward in market value each month, dipping in to chief merely has to happen on a regular basis. Imagine if there is a lengthy market down turn? The capital described may be most useful in a"total return" feel, however, not out of the income they produce, and I have yet to ascertain just how either total return, or sell value for that matter, can be utilised to pay for your own invoices... without selling the securities.
Far as I enjoy top quality dividend producing equities ( Investment Grade Value Stocks are volatility payers)they are only not the answer for retirement income"readiness". There is a much better, income focused, alternative to those equity-income production"dogs"; and with less financial risk.
Notice that"financial" risk (the possibility that the moving company will default on its payments) is substantially different from"market" risk (the chance that market value may move below the purchase price). For an apples-to-apples contrast, I chose four equity focused Closed End Funds (CEFs) by the much larger world I have now been watching quite tightly as the 1980s. They (BME, USA, RVT, and CSQ) possess a normal yield of 7.85 percent, and a payment history extending back an average 2-3 decades. There are scores of others who produce more income than any one of the ETFs or Mutual Money cited at the"best of class" Google results. Although I am a strong believer in investing just in dividend paying equities, high volatility stocks remain"growth purpose" investments and so they just can't be expected to create the sort of income which can be depended upon by their"income purpose" cousins. But fairness established CEFs come very close.
Tumblr media
When you combine these equityincome critters with similarly handled income purpose CEFs, you own a portfolio that may bring you to"retirement income readiness"... and this is about two thirds the content of a controlled MCIM portfolio. When it comes to income production, bonds, preferred stocks, notes, and loans, mortgages, income realestate, etc. are naturally safer and higher yielding than stocks... as intended by the investment hubs, should not by the"Wizards of Wall Street". They will have been telling you for nearly ten decades now that yields around two or three percentage are the very best they have to offer. They are lying through their teeth.
Here's an illustration, as mentioned in a recent Forbes Magazine article by Michael Foster qualified "14 Funding that Crush Vanguard and Yield up to 11.9 percent"
The report compares both return and total yield, pointing out pretty certainly that total yield is moot once the rivalry is generating 5 or 6 times longer annual income. Foster compares seven Vanguard mutual funds using 14 Closed End Funds... and the underdogs triumph in every category: Total Stock Market, Small-Cap, Mid-Cap, Large-Cap, Dividend Appreciation, US Growing, along with US Value. His decision:
"When it comes to yields and one-year returns, none of those Vanguard funds triumph. Despite their fame, regardless of the passive-indexing craze and also despite the feel-good narrative many wish to trust that the true-Vanguard is a laggard." Hello! Time to get your retirement readiness income program in to high gear and quit worrying about total returns and promote value changes. Time to Place your portfolio into a position where you can create this statement, unequivocally, without hesitation, with full assurance: "Neither currency markets volatility rising rates of interest are likely to have a bad influence on my retirement income; in actuality, I'm in a ideal position to benefit from all market and interest rate moves of almost any magnitude, at any moment... without invading chief except for unexpected crises."

Being Known is Being Loved
Tumblr media
Years ago a friend of mine had a dream about a strange invention; a staircase you could descend deep underground, in which you heard recordings of all the things anyone had ever said about you, both good and bad. The catch was, you had to pass through all the worst things people had said before you could get to the highest compliments at the very bottom. There is no way I would ever make it more than two and a half steps down such a staircase, but I understand its terrible logic: if we want the rewards of being loved, we have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known.
- I Know What You Think of Me by Tim Krieder
We have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known.
This line, which came from a 2012 New York Times essay, then became a meme in 2018, always has resonated with me. The core idea of the essay could be summarized in an equally as powerful statement brought forth by another Tumblr user:
Being known is being loved.
Both statements frame a visceral feeling that is hard to properly explain but is almost immediately understood in the comfort and complexities of knowing someone, and the emotions that come from that journey.
To know someone is to understand their inner workings. It is to know the foods they hate, the ways they deal with stress, the goals they have, the secrets they keep, the time they spend, and hundreds of other smaller things that define someone, and your journey with them as you get to each other's cores.
If you’ve ever loved someone, Natasha’s writing will make you feel this deeply:
“i know your pizza order” “you have freckles on your ears” “you make this face when you’re tired” “you order green tea on a good day black on a bad day” “you always make that face before you try something” “the tips of your ears turn red when you’re angry” “i knew you’d say something” “you must be exhausted to miss the class” “your favorite pie is pumpkin, right?” “i know your phone number, don’t worry” “you miss me, i can tell” “you fiddle with your pens when you’re bored” “you don’t like converse unless they’re high tops” “your favorite cereal is cinnamon toast crunch and you first ate it when you were 8”
The fog of being known, & volatility
Tumblr media
I sometimes think about knowing someone as a Fog of War map. For many parts of someone, there are areas that you uncover and don’t expect to change, ranging from seemingly inconsequential preferences to deeper personal values to lifelong pursuits. And then there are parts of people that do change, and these more volatile areas you have to revisit, check in with, and explore to continually know...and to continually love.
As we uncover more of this map, “mortifying” really is a perfect word to describe how we feel about being known in the 21st century. The satisfaction, emotional exposure, and time investment that comes from being known is non-trivial and high risk. It requires you and another person to embark on a journey together that theoretically is high ROI, but more likely, just high volatility.
Over the past 10 years, a lot of the dynamics have changed surrounding what it means to be known, for better or for worse. Especially this year these dynamics of what we qualify as "knowing" someone has been top of mind for me across both personal and professional contexts.
Our world has turned into one that inflates to a minimum viable aesthetic. We want to show a version of ourselves online that is most attractive, most agreeable, most interesting, and most admirable. Perfect pictures, curated stories, high level tweets designed to garner likes and RTs, and a catering to the masses of our minimum viable audience. This is the seemingly agreed upon dominant strategy whether seeking influence, capital, or something else.
We string together fragments of various selves, but rarely do we see the entire self, because what’s the incentive? There’s just too much risk in being known. By being somewhat known we are effectively minimizing some of the beautiful human volatility I mention a few paragraphs above.
Maximum vulnerability = maximum volatility = maximum upside.
Tumblr media
(tweet source)
In investing, higher volatility usually equates to higher possible returns. In today's world of online expression, we settle for lower expected value, market-level outcomes so as to not ruffle any feathers and not take any outsized risk. We're basically hoping to allow people to know us enough so that they include us in their passive index of humans they hold in moderate regard, like that vanguard ETF that their finance friend told them to buy and never think about until they were 60.
As I write that sentence, I think that perhaps we go back to the parable of humans being viewed as commodities or indexes. We can debate this at a societal level but on the professional side, I think this is entirely true within my bubble of venture capital and startups.
When we think about the products that venture capital firms offer the talking points are either the people (which partner do you work with) or the capital. The capital is a commodity today. This pushes seed round dynamics into sprints measured in days in order to get to a decision of who to partner with for the next 7-10 years of your company. One could make the argument that founders should take their time and be more intentional, but let's be real, that isn't net dominant for a founder or their highly optimized process.
As an industry we like to equate picking a co-founder to marriage and draw similar comparisons when picking a lead investor/board member. Despite this, we have yet to figure out the solution for understanding these relationships in a newly compressed timeline outside of social capital (how does an investor reference), shotgun weddings (was great to meet you yesterday, give me the highest price and get out of my way), and brand network effects (firm > people). But this information is sparse and humans are....say it with me...VOLATILE. So you never really know.
This insight is what led various VCs to become content marketing machines in order to increase exposure and surface area. I heavily adapted this playbook early in my career (as many have) and it certainly helps people get to know you...sorta. I should say, it gets people to know a part of you.
And I feel like we've conflated the idea of knowing someone with having an idea of someone. You can't know someone after 9 days (if Kopelman is correct) but you can get maximum context by understanding the corpus of their being on the internet...or at least that's the best attempt I can muster up in my reality.
My reality is that I can't buy my own bullshit/sell my soul enough to tweet out tech proverbs or repurpose old parables for likes. My reality is that I don't have the skill to transactionally aggressively network and I can't sustain the energy from social interactions to exponentially scale deep connections to the tune of 25+ meetings/week I care about. So instead, my only option to be loved is to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known. To wear my heart on my digital sleeve, a proverbial sleeve that's threads are made up of a sum of all of my writing, social media accounts, in-person interactions, and more, not just a curated feed of minimum viable story filled with dopamine-inducing 280 character lines.
I write about the areas I care about, founders I partner with, my struggles with my industry, my lessons of growing up, my allegories for friendship or love, all to be known. I tweet to be known, I joke to be known, hell I sing to be known.
And in writing this my only goal is to express my disinterest in what passes the bar today for "being known" in our communities, and to ask others to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known.
So here’s my sleeve where you can start to get to know me. I look forward to descending the staircase together.

hey its me again wall of text sorry not sorry
k i saw your little treatise justifying zadr and yknow its a cartoon its not the worst thing ever of course nobody is gonna sue you for reblogging fanart or burn you at the stake or w/e and im glad you decided to open yourself up to a differing opinion but zim IS portrayed as an adult. there was even an unfinished episode where zim’s childhood and growing up training from start to finish would be shown so by the time of the pilot he is definitely a full grown developed adult by irken standards especially if hes a former member of an elite military force like the invaders. jhonen has said that the irony and sad comedy of zims character is that hes a grown ass man and a war veteran to boot who VOLUNTARILY goes to an elementary school every day and throws hands with an 11 year old boy who should be well below his notice because he’s that pathetic and desperate for validation that he’ll stoop to seeking it from a child. it also sets up a dynamic between them where dib is CHALLENGED by having to go up against an adult with way more experience than him while dib is just a child, so when he wins its more meaningful, which is a common trope in childrens fiction that an underdog young hero has to take down a powerful adult villain.
jhonen might joke a lot but he’s serious about this part of the characterization of zim and dib and he even went to great lengths to make dib look and act more like a kid in ETF (more emotional and naive, designed to look smaller/softer, going in depth with his relationship to his dad and sister and needing his dad to protect him at the end when he’s too overrun to fight alone) just to drive home the point of how young he is. it was a very deliberate move and jhonen knows what hes doing ESPECIALLY since he also left zim pretty much unchanged and also includes gags about zim’s relative maturity like animating him briefly grimacing because his joints are sore and the part where he pretty much gestures to his crotch and goes “theyre afraid to look at ALL-A THIS”. like you would not see jhonen do that sort of joke with an underage character ok. dont confuse his social awkwardness and self deprecating/trolling humor for not knowing the difference between right and wrong and not acknowledge when he means something sincerely because he doesn’t just clown on people and troll ALL THE TIME 24/7 hes a human, and times have changed with more awareness on issues such as the grooming of minors so he can go back on things he may have said in the past that he doesn’t agree with now or said by mistake. he has said enough times that zim is older than any human alive that its safe to take his word for it by now. judging by the one strip he did in JTHM about johnny murdering a pedophile who was about to prey on squee i think his stance on protecting kids is pretty clear. also i wouldnt put it past jhonen to have redesigned membrane to be more chaddy looking to divert the adult fandom’s attention away from dib and throw the fangirls a bone but thats a whole nother can of worms lol.
and the justification that zim is immature so hes essentially on dib’s level is a reversal of something lots of kids hear from either creepy or ignorant adults who tell them theyre “so mature for their age”. no matter how emotionally mature you are it wont ever compensate for the number of years youve been alive so that’s not very sound logic, and even in fic where theyre both adults it’s still pretty weird because it doesn’t erase their history where zim knew dib as a kid. that’s sort of like a grownup waiting with bated breath until a kid is “legal” so they can start dating. kinda like when jacob imprints on bella’s newborn daughter in twilight then having it handwaved away by saying he’ll wait till she’s grown up, which understandably drew a huge amount of criticism. it’s a loophole that might be mildly acceptable in some cases but the context leaves it colored with a residual ickiness that sets off some red flags for me and a lot of other people.
also you said zim is an alien and therefore the situation itself is unrealistic, but the reason invader zim’s writing resonates with people is because zim is written with very HUMAN emotions and motivations and part of the humor again is how irkens despite being aliens from another planet mirror some of humanity’s worst flaws such as being petty, gluttonous, willfully ignorant, arrogantly believing they are special and better than everyone else, easily manipulated by propaganda, all too eager to greedily colonize other societies etc making them not so different from us at all. so the premise out of context might not seem realistic but the idea of a sad burnout adult who doesn’t realize how humiliating it is to be consistently outsmarted by a kid less than half their age IS realistic and applicable to human interaction since we’ve likely all met someone like this before at one point in our lives for example a schoolteacher who has a personal vendetta against one or more of their students and has nothing better to do than antagonize them, or a really dumb parent that you fight with a lot.
another thing, i know you and other fans probably have a lot of sentimental value and nostalgia attached to zadr because you probably shipped it back when you were a kid yourself and you cant be blamed for something you liked as a kid, but youre an adult now, and you have to listen to the portion of kids in the fandom who dont like zadr and say without question that the age gap makes them uncomfortable. those kids ARE the priority. we’re grown up now and we have to put our feelings aside for them because that’s part of being responsible and mature. i feel like zim himself is a pretty good example of how not to act at our age [shrug emoji]
and anyway a lot of the same elements of zadr can be explored with zadf just as well with just as much potential for cute moments and as a bonus is it’s not creepy
You do bring up some good points, and I’m not saying you’re wrong...  But honestly I’m still not convinced.  I mean, stuff that Jhonen said, the thing is even if it’s the author saying it it’s still outside of canon, that’s the reason why Neil Gaiman got flack for Good Omens because they didn’t write an actual kiss or hug or hand-hold between Aziraphale and Crowley yet Neil Gaiman went on Twitter saying they were queer representation.  I still don’t really put much stock into what he says because the unfinished episodes and Jhonen’s commentary don’t really change the dynamic that’s actually in the show.  And again...Jhonen said if there were going to be romance in the show it would be Zim/Gaz, so he’s either a huge hypocrite or doesn’t view Zim as being incompatible with Gaz.
I do think it’s much better when Dib is an adult and it just makes more sense, and I actually do prefer zadf to zadr and if i were going to ever write fanfiction or make fanart it would probably just be zadf, just because i know this does have some stuff to think about and I totally respect that you have a different view of it, but i honestly just don’t see it that way.  The analogy with Jacob imprinting on Bella’s child in Twilight isn’t really the same thing honestly.  The author in that situation tried to make it not......that....by saying that imprinting isn’t always a romantic relationship thing, and that Jacob would be more of an older brother, but honestly that doesn’t really negate the impact of grooming that kid would have with Jacob around.  The idea that Zim would somehow be grooming Dib seems really silly to me although you’re right, I think his characterization in Into the Florpus has evolved somewhat especially with regard to Dib wanting to get his father’s approval, but again Zim has parallels with that in trying to please the Tallest.  the world-building and characterizations are inconsistent and scattershot at best.  Like no, zim isn’t waiting for him to turn legal, that’s absurd, they’re nemeses coming at each other then learning to be friends.  You’re right that that doesn’t have to be zadr but I still tag it as zadr so people can block it if they want to.
Like, I’ve seen people ship Zim with Professor Membrane instead of Dib.  That seems very weird to me.  that professor membrane would have a relationship with someone who literally goes to his son’s elementary school and who doesn’t know anything at all about human behavior and emotions.
I feel like with this discussion people don’t really understand the problem with age gaps. With age gaps, it’s not a matter of mature/immature, it’s about development.  A ten year age gap sounds like a lot right?  a 25-year-old and a 15-year old would absolutely have a predatory “relationship.”  But a 35- and a 45-year old, that’s perfectly fine.  Having a difference in age doesn’t automatically make the relationship unhealthy.  so if Dib is 25 and Zim is [whatever the hell aliens years i still don’t really take Jhonen’s word for it bc he’s not consistent], that’s doesn’t mean it has to be bad.  The thing about telling minors they’re “so mature for their age” to try and convince them that a person interested in them isn’t a pedophile is that we know a human being who is 15 isn’t developmentally at the same level as a 25-year-old regardless of their behavior.  What is Zim?  All we have to go on is how he acts, and he acts like Dib is an equal match, it’s not “he’s immature for his age,” it’s very unclear.  Raw number of years isn’t the ultimate decider, for example in DnD lore elves reach maturity at, like, 100 years old so a 25-yo human trying to get with a 50-year-old elf would be predatory to the young elf even though the “younger” one is technically twice as old as the human.  Do you see what I’m saying?
I also don’t really buy the idea that Invader Zim’s writing resonates with people because Zim is ~~so human~~.  The guy steals a bunch of kid’s organs in one episode and flies into a tantrum over the slightest inconvenience.  You have to be reading really deeply into it and dig into some old internet archives of things Jhonen Vasquez has said to paint it as realistic.  You can do some interesting things with it wrt like, Zim being defective and starting to experience human emotions but that’s mostly fanon.
Well, you’ve given me some things to think about, thanks for explaining your side to me.  I’m still going to tag things as #zadr so people can block if it can’t plausibly be categorized as zadf.  I’m not actually making any fan content for Invader Zim so the point is kind of moot, but if I ever do I’ll definitely take this into consideration.

Easy Explanation about Mutual Funds in the Cricket way
Most Indians like cricket but all Indians love money. In cricket, it is each player’s hard work and self-belief that leads to success. Fortunately, in mutual funds, investors rely on the hard-work of mainly companies and countries.
Investing in mutual funds can be complicated and cutting through complex details is scary. This makes investing look like an expert’s work.
How would you feel if someone simplified Mutual fund aspects through cricket? Here is a description of Mutual Funds by attributing cricket to it.
Mutual Funds & Cricket are the same in spirit
1. Only a well-diversified team leads to victory – a team with 11 batsmen or bowlers will not win. All sorts of players are required like batsmen, bowlers, all-rounders and a keeper.
Similarly, a well-diversified portfolio is required to win. Mutual Funds are these pre-constructed diversified portfolios or teams.
2. Horses for courses – it is no shock that specialized T20 players cannot perform in Test matches.
Similarly, if you wish to invest for a long period of say more than 5 years, then investing in debt mutual funds which are good for short-term investments, will not give you the benefits you want.
3. Consistency and Patience are the keys – To win means scoring runs in all situations. Giving away wickets by careless batting will make the team lose a match.
Similarly, a bad performance by mutual funds for a few months might encourage you to exit. But you should bat along and rotate the strike for singles. Good years will take care of these bad months.
Mutual Fund Portfolio = Cricket Team
In an overview, a mutual fund can be thought of like a cricket team. A cricket team consists of players with different abilities. In mutual funds, each mutual fund has various stocks and bonds which make the team.
In Cricket, weather and pitch conditions influence team composition. Similarly, market conditions decide the composition of portfolios.
When pitch conditions are good you take hitters but balance it out with all-rounders. Similarly, under good market conditions, you may take in more Equity funds along with some balanced funds.
The team as a whole will perform even when one player gets injured. Likewise, the MF portfolio will perform even if one stock gets hammered.
Defining Mutual Fund types based on Players
1. Large Cap Equity Fund – are like the main batsmen. It is their responsibility to put the maximum runs on the board. Similarly, these funds have the biggest companies under them which are major drivers of growth in an economy.
Large-cap mutual funds are like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
2. Small-Cap Equity Fund – are like hard hitters. These types of players are explosive. If they start hitting they can pile-up runs like no one else. But there are chances of getting out.
Small-Cap funds are like Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi and Kieron Pollard.
3. Liquid Fund – are like 2-down batsmen. These are known for their reliability and consistency. They also provide much-needed support in bad times.
Liquid Funds are like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.
4. Balanced Fund – are like all-rounders. As the name suggests, they can bat and bowl well. These mutual funds have a good balance of equity and debt investments in their portfolio.
Balanced Funds are like Kapil Dev, Jacques Kallis and Ben Stokes.
5. Exchange-Traded Funds – are like team captains. The captain is active throughout the game, even when they are not actually batting or bowling. Similarly, these funds are traded in stock markets actively.
ETFs are like Ricky Ponting and MS Dhoni.
Mutual Funds have a Coach
Any team is only as good as its coach. It is the job of a coach to select team players and to unlock the team’s full potential.
In the case of Mutual Funds, the Fund manager is the Head Coach. He has few subordinates with defined roles like in cricket where a team has a different batting and bowling coach.
Moreover, the Asset Management Company (AMC) is the organization which is responsible for all activities of the fund. The Fund Manager is the chief of AMCs.
Umpires regulate Cricket and Mutual Funds
In cricket Umpire’s call is the final word. Umpires are the authority to check that all laws of cricket are followed and nobody resorts to any type of cheating or malpractice. The 3rd umpire is called upon only a few times in a game to review decisions taken.
Likely, Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the Umpire that serves as a watchdog. SEBI has investor interest at heart and does so by ensuring that no cheating occurs. Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) is the 3rd umpire in the world of Mutual Funds.
Conclusion
Cricket provides you with happiness and enjoyment. But Mutual Funds can provide you with something valuable. It is increasingly important to become self-sufficient.
If you show even a little enthusiasm in investing that you show in cricket, you could get set for life.
After reading this, whenever you watch a match your concepts about Mutual Funds will improve automatically.
