(more…) “”

Video
So I've finally got around to uploading my music (I'll have to do it through several videos because the time limit on Instagram is stupid) About the music; Well most people know I have an extremely diverse taste in music. This is also the first real piece of music I've ever made and completed. (I tend to just come up with riffs and stuff on guitar or piano) I did this for a course I was doing at college back in June. I got to work in a studio in the Symphony hall in Birmingham. I got to work with some great people and really open up and show what I could do. I became more confident in performing in front of people. It was fun. I was pretty much left to do as I pleased, in saying this we all had to create a piece of music using this app. Now personally, I'm not one for digital or technology created music. Being an aspiring musician/artist I much prefer stripped back raw music. The feel of real instruments, skill and talent. However, I was surprised at how fun it was to make music this way. Being able to fit instruments together easily, especially ones I can't play and having so many things to play around with and try. Anyway, I knew I wanted to go down the country/indie kinda path for this. Even though (and I shall point this out now) I don't limit myself to one genre of music. I like to create all sorts as that's what I enjoy. I drew my inspirations from artists such as #JoeJaniak (who I'd LOVE to work with some day), #TomOdell, #TheShadows and R.E.M. I greatly admire the work of such artists, especially Joe as he has such a unique sound and if I could follow in his footsteps then I'd be a very happy person. The first part (as shown in this video) came to me fairly easy, I'd say the middle and the bridge was the hardest part to figure out. That's when I used Tom Odell for inspiration and I found what I needed to make it fit. Overall it took me about 72 hours straight to finish this. Although, even though the music itself is finished (despite it's unconventional structure) I never did write or add lyrics to it. I did work with a creative practitioner on that but it didn't feel right, it wasn't me and I felt it took away from the music so I never recorded it. Oh I forgot to mention, in my college version of this some of the guitar bits have been taken out and replaced with my raw acoustic guitar to give it more or a raw and natural vibe. I was happy to do that as I felt it was making it more my own and I got to add real music to my piece. I recorded a mix of strums and slaps to give it that real acoustic vibe. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of that version :( I also didn't entitle my music anything as it has no lyrical content (not that that necessarily matters, but it helps).
