In my Hero is Back sequel idea, I'm debating whether or not to make "Zhanshi" (aka the HiB Six Eared Macaque/Liu'er Mihou) skinny like her counterpart, or a Big Lady.
Like I'm leaning towards the latter cus of the adorable idea of Sun Wukong, the Havoc of Heaven, being this tall, muscular, and skinny guy - and his wafiu is shaped like a Venus of Willendorf statue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Said waifu is also considered a scourge of Heaven and should not be underestimated just because she's Mom Shaped™
Or...
Dasheng *remembers* his right-hand warrior being more lithe and taller than him.
When he finally returns to Huaguo, new troop members in tow, he discovers that his thought-to-be-lost mate's body has changed - but their desire for eachother has not.
Zhanshi is as soft as she is still is deadly on the battlefield.

Smokey and Liang have one kid who's the reincarnation (of sorts) of a powerful Energy based being, five kids who have strong nature powers as well as Guan Yin's blessing, a mini me of Smokey himself, two rambunctious Werewolf kids that probably have Celestial powers and (future) twins who are Liang's mini mes.
No wonder the Gods are scared, that's some army. I'm amazed any Demons even bother to mess with the pilgrimage. 😅😅
Though if there's anyone who needs to send a S.O.S to their counterparts/allies, it's the Reborn!Jade Emperor. 😂😂
referencing this post XD
Just multiple Jade Emperors on call with eachother asking for help with the monkeys.
Tumblr media
Reborn!JE: "Please, their first born is the manifestation of positive chaos. They've adopted two of Revati's children." Netflix!JE: "You think thats bad? My monkey destroyed my palace! And now he's back on earth Multiplying!!" HeroIsBack!JE: "Sun Wukong got out??" NewGods!JE: *dial tone* 2000scartoon!JE: "Can't be too bad. I'm getting harassed every other week by demons, rogue celestials, my own rebelling staff, and Wukong himself." Reborn!JE: "Guys please. He has like nine..." *someone updates* "Wait they're what!? Oh sweet Pure Ones! They're having twins!!" LMK!Azure Lion: "Wow, I took a bad time to pick up the phone huh?"

Wait...thought...we only have figured out allergies and how to stop them in the past century...have any of those old-timey monkeys even seen an anaphylactic reaction?
...I'm not saying anything bad, but...
...Xiaoyun getting stung by a bee and having a reaction, while his parents are losing their minds in panic - he's swelling and struggling to breathe, what can we do, we can't do anything - only for Peach to rockstar slide in on his knees, uncapping the epipen with his teeth and jabbing it quickly in Xiaoyun's thigh.
Then everyone from the past sits through a whole seminar made by Tang about allergies and reactions and get some epipens for safety's sake.
oof yeah, offical synthetic epinephrine was invented in 1904. There was an idea of allergies as far back as Hippocrates-time, but mostly for "seasonal asthma". Anaphylaxis was known at least to occur when some people got stung by bees or jellyfish as early as 1811 - it was considered the same as being envenomated.
The "Hero is Back" gang would have no clue how to respond to immuno-compromised (a new phrase Dasheng makes sure to remember) Xiaoyun having a Bad Reaction to something like a bee sting. They're panicking and crying cus it looks like the kiddo just dropped after a little bee landed on him.
Peach: *rockstar-slide epipen injection* Xiaoyun: *getting better* Dasheng & Zhanshi, in shock: "What." Peach: "Looks like your Little guy is allergic to bee stings. Luckily, we've neen making sure to have an epipen on us since Bai He turned out to be allergic to lillies." Dasheng, hugging Xiaoyun with relief: "What's an allergy?" Zhanshi, also hugging Xiaoyun: "And what exactly is an *epi*? Does it require an alchemist to make?" Peach, realizing: "Oh yeah... modern medicine."
After a brief Tang-seminar, the monkeys from the far past def grab a few epipens for safety reasons. And maybe one accidentally invents synthetic epinephrine in their time way earlier than they were supposed to.

If Ace and Joker are grandpas, then their MK is some suburban dad that's glad his parents made up after the divorce. His kids love playing with Ace's little monkeys, but they're scared of the little hellions that are constantly chasing them. Especially the baby, who keeps trying to eat whichever one she gets her hands on.
Oh gosh now I'm imagining that NewGods!MK never actually *had* a "hero origin story" other than his unusual adoption. Ace and Joker gave him a decent upbringing and are good, if not unorthodox co-parents despite their breakup. Weirdly normal childhood up until all the reincarnated gods/entities started causing trouble.
Legitimately has no idea what/who is once was.
He's married in the suburbs with at least three little kids, one has to be kept in the baby sling or else she starts biting like Sunny Baudelaire. He's the most shocked to find out about the New Gods version of Luzhen, and any future Jackpotshipping kids. Li Yunxiang gets introduced to him on complete accident while looking for his mentor one day.
Yunxiang: "Uh..." NewGods!MK/"Xiaozhēn", making pancakes: "Dad's not ready yet. He's still in the shower. Sit down, you'll need fuel for your training." Yunxiang: *sits down, very confused* Ace, stepping into view: "Oh yeah... Forgot to introduce you to the kid." Yunxiang, even more confused: "Kid!? He's as old as my dad." Xiaozhēn, serving food: "I'm not that old! Baba and Bama found me like... 35 years ago. Either way, I'm just visiting cus the old man lives like a hobo when Bama's not around." Yunxiang: "Whom?!" *has mental blue-screen moment* Ace, nonchalantly sipping coffee: "A-Zhēn, I've told you about being too honest with strangers." Xiaozhēn, sheepishly: "Ah, sorry baba. I forgot." Joker, walking past not even trying to hide himself: "It's true though. He stops wearing shoes and pants the second I'm away." Yunxiang: Σ(゚口゚;)// One of the grand-monkeys: *steals pancake from Yunxiang's plate*
NewGods!MK dresses like he's seconds away from starting up the grill. He's got light beer in the fridge. He wears a phone/belt clip.

@dorothygale123;
Olive aka my idea for Netflix Monkey King's version of the Six Eared Macaque/LEM, has a backstory similar but different from his Cherry/SWK counterpart.
A monkey is hatched from a Stone Egg. However, instead of Flower Fruit Mountain; Olive was "born" on the Moon. Technically in the world of Immortals, Olive originally grew up around them before becoming disgusted by their gluttony and frivilous nature.
Pulled a "I don't want to be a royal/prince(ss)" and escaped to Earth... where they immediately got harassed into living on the outskirts of FFM by the superstitious local monkey demons. A certain red-furred Monkey was the only one that seemed to think Olive's ears were "amazing/awesome!" instead of something to be feared. But he left sometime afterwards for some reason... something about 100 demons?
Olive spent a lot of the last 500 years just travelling, falling into different bad crowds, tricking unwise humans, and getting tangled up in a current celestial uprising.
Olive is mistaken for the Monkey King by people & demons who've only heard stories of Cherry's exploits. A macaque demon with weird physical traits/abilities? Must be the Monkey King.
Olive initially approaches the Pilgrims for a devious plan, but quickly finds himself way underestimating how fast he falls for the red-furred super-powerful himbo. Hopefully these feelings wear off before his boss's plans come into play.
It also gives the pair interesting conflicting ideals of; "wait you rejected living the Celestial Realm/a quiet life on FFM?!"
As for the SWK/LEM child of this verse Xiaoshi ("little rock" cus pebble); Originally I thought to make his creation a "natural" one (wink wink) bonus an accidental prayer to Guanyin. But now Im considering if theme of "rocks" could play an extra part in his creation.
It probably occurs sometime after the initial "betrayal-to-forgiveness-to-maybe lovers?" plotline.
Something like...
(The Pilgrims are staying at a temple of Guanyin. Cherry is trying out this whole prayer thing Tripitaka has been teaching him)
Cherry: "...Amitabha. Hope I did that one right." Olive: "You really think a silly sutra is going to convince the gods to give you what you want?" Cherry, shrugs: "Its a start. If I do enough of them that might let me take this stupid gold headband off." Olive: "Then what?" Cherry: "What?" Olive: "When you get the headband off - what will you pray for?" Cherry: *thinks for a while* Cherry, quietly: "...a family." Olive, softens a bit: "Just... that?" Cherry: "I never had one before. Would be nice to start one. Like, I wanna be the kinda dad that hugs their kid and tells them how much I love them everyday! I wanna start as soon as possible!" Olive, fond laugh: "You might be missing a few steps there, hero." Cherry: "Like what???" Olive: "Like, do you plan on making this family with anyone?" Cherry, confused: "Anyone? No probably- OH. You mean like-!" *blushing snort of laughter* "You mean like with a mate!" Olive: "Yes, my king. Unless you plan on making one out of clay. Or adopting." Cherry: "...you can just do that? Make one out of clay?" Olive: "Huh? No, it's a joke. It's said that the goddess Nuwa made the first humans out of the clay." Cherry, disappointed: "Oh. I still would like to though..." Guanyin, listening in: >:3 *blesses* (later when the gang are camping on the road) Olive: "What are you doing?" Cherry, forming wet clay around a pebble: "Trying to see if I can do the same thing Nuwa did." Olive: "Nuwa was a literal creation goddess, I don't think you could-" Cherry: *has sad hopeful look in his eyes* Olive: *sighs* "Ok, move over. You need something for the clay bind together too." (later) *An "Egg" made of clay, road dust, and whatever they could find is made, and hardening in the sun* Both Monkeys: *covered in filth* Cherry: "That was fun!" Olive: "Surprisingly so." The "Egg": *suddenly starts giving off a weird energy signature* Both Monkeys: Σ( O_O) (O_O ;) Stick, humming: "oh you dum-dums."
Cherry and Olive have an awkward time explaining to the rest of the Pilgrims that they may have accidentally made a new Stone Monkey together. Tripitaka and Zhu Bajie gets grossed out looks on their faces before Sha Wujing whispers that they meant literally - hence the weird clay/stone egg they have wrapped up in a basket.
The Clay Egg bares witness to a lot of weirdness on it's travels with the Pilgrims. Eventually it hatches in a dramatic fashion - only Olive noticed at first cus of super-hearing - and the fight/conflict they were in was immediately forgotten.
An infant monkey falls out of the clay shell, chirping and reaching for a hug. As you can imagine, Olive and Cherry nearly crash into one another answering the baby's request.
Xiaoshi is named for the fact that he started out as "just a pebble".
Also I find it funny if the little monkey known for making art, started out life as a clay art project between his parents. XD

[Good chance of them being; the cutest things in the entire multiverse ever, much better than the fruit twins; according to Dawn.]
Oi, them be fighting words. If Dawn's not careful, he gonna end up looking like Eben Byers otherwise.
[Canon!SWK/Dawn is just sobbing from the cuteness of their daughters. He def ranks them higher on the cuteness ladder than any of the au! kiddos.]
Like, the other SWKs get it, they too find their own kiddos the cutest amongst the cubs, but still - "Oh, put them up, buttercup!"
[Jackpotshipping is unlikely. .. Unless they find another freebie in the trash .. Street orphans are negotiable.]
Ace coming to visit one day and leaves with a new kid he found in Megapolis, calling 'dibs' XD
[Canon!Red: "It will keep our parents off of our backs regarding children at least. For at least for a few months."]
Hehe!
A few months later, in the restaurant, MK and Red are sort-of being cornered and asked about the future kids, only for SWK bust through the door, an absolute manic grin on his face, tail wagging at speeds comparable to a jet engine, while holding Macaque in a bridal carry.
There is no sight of the nimbus, so the group wonders if he ran here...
"We're pregnant!" SWK announces, before backpedaling, "Well, not 'we', not like our alts, but we are, well, Mac is, ugh, I helped!"
"Give him a minute. He is so excited he left his brain back on Flower Fruit Mountain." Macaque laughs softly at that.
So much excited screeching incoming.
And relief, from Spicynoodles now that the group's attention is diverted again.
Even if Canon PIF and Mac are not more than begrudging allies, I could see them looking up things for the babies, for the former to see what's new and useful for rearing children since she now knows what needs to be done to make more.
Though, the best advice must come from those who have raised multiple kids by now:
"Color code everything!"
"Huh?"
"Kids will argue about what belongs to whom. Especially twins - and triplets. Color coding saves your sanity. Can't argue the teddy bear is yours if it has a bandana of your siblings color, right?"
"Also, just because you're craving it, don't nonstop indulge. The weight makes the birth worse."
"What do you mean by that?" Gets shown the image of the Nodelets after birth, "Holy shit, she's huge!"
referencing posts about the Canon LMK Shadowpeach having kids in the Wukongverse.
["Give him a minute. He is so excited he left his brain back on Flower Fruit Mountain."]
Ok thats gotta be my favorite way to describe how Wukong reacts to such good news. I love the mental imagery of his tail going at the speed of a helicopter rotor as he tries to figure out how to announce it to the gang. Canon MK is def the first to start crying with proxy happiness.
[Though, the best advice must come from those who have raised multiple kids by now]
Aww, I love the thought of the other parent LEMs giving Canon!Macaque/Dusk baby advice. Like a moms club.
And ofc Plum using Yuebei's baby photo as a warning not to indulge. He jokes that the little girl "needed her own room" or else neither he nor Peach would have been able to move from the baby weight. Dusk shudders at the thought.
Liang tells horror stories of the 5 stone-fruit monkeys fighting over whos things are whos. Colour co-ordination is such a must to avoid in-fighting.
Zhanshi has softer advice on how to take care of a smaller/weaker baby (Xiaoyun hatched prematurely). And Olive just says "You are gonna feel like crap sometimes. Its normal."
Meanwhile in the next room, Canon!SWK/Dawn is getting roasted by the whole SWK gang for his worrying + his brain stuttering from happiness.
[Oi, them be fighting words]
I can imagine all the other SWKs letting Dawn have his moment of new-dad-pride when the twins are actually born, but you know the fists and staffs are flying the second Dawn tries saying his kids are the cutest of the whole multiverse. Smokey argues for Xiao Qi, whos so cute he literally heals the world. Dasheng in turn argues for Xiaoyun, his scrappy little cloud. Cherry is then like "nope, you're all wrong. your babies can't out-cute my pebble army."
Its worse than the time the other DBKs met and went full soccer-dad on eachother.
The LEMs come back only to see the living room completely destroyed. Someone has been tosed through a screen door. The table has been broken in half.
Only the ones that stayed out of it are the SWKs who don't have any kids + Ace ( s laughing up a storm).
Plum: "What in buddha's name happened here!?" Peach: "A matter of pride. Dawn tried saying his kids are cuter than ours." Plum: "...thats dumb. You know babies look ugly as frick to anyone not the parents. Simple biology." The Other SWKS, regaining conciousness: "Huh?" Plum: "Observe. I was just showing the other Macs a certain newborn photo of Yuebei. Does this look like a cute baby to you?" The Other SWKs: *looks at photo* Photo: *newborn Yuebei being weighed on a kitchen scale. Her face is super wrinkly, and her fur is really wispy and wet-looking. Looks like a little angry gremlin. Her smaller brothers are right next to her in the bassinet.* Smokey: "Sweet buddha..." Cherry: "Thats a HUGE baby!" Dasheng: "...did you say newborn!?" Plum: "Yup. Why did you think I warned Dusk not to give into cheese cravings?" Dawn: "I thought that was just photoshop..."
The argument is immediately forgotten, as now the SWKs are just glad that they didn't get a mega-sized 9-pound potato baby. Its all in good fun though, as Plum and Peach consider Yuebei to be their little ice lily.

For CherryandOliveStones;
After the birth of Pebbles 1 and 2, the pilgrims are extra alert for any sign for baby monkey making. There's at least one of other member near the monkey couple to make sure things stay PG friendly and no clay making sessions that involve oval like objects. Three is more than enough.
Fast forward, Netflix!Luzhen gets drop off.
The monkeys (all five) are like; Mine! New son/brother.
Everyone else though?
Really?! ANOTHER ONE?! By the Gods?! 😤 A MINI CHERRY?!? 😳
(Bonus.
Heaven/Jade Emperor : Why have you forsaken us, oh great Buddha? 😭😭)
referencing: this post about extra fan kids.
Tripitaka wondering why its taking his monkey diciples/bodyguards so long to get back from food gathering like;
Tumblr media
Sha Wujing even sees one of the monkeys looking at river mud and is like, "Don't even think about it. The pebbles are enough right now as is."
Cherry and Olive don't see what the big deal is. Humans and demons are creating babies all the time. ("Yours come with built-in lazers, guys!")
Then cue the Luzhen drop off!
Cherry and Olive are freaking out with happiness. The little guy looks almost *exactly* how Cherry looked as a baby. Little ball of scarlet fur with curious green eyes. He's immediately showered with hugs and kisses from his parents and older siblings.
Meanwhile, Tripitaka, Sha Wujing, and Zhu Bajie are all groaning "why???". The pilgrims can't even blame the monkeys this time. Clearly the actual gods are out to get them.
(Upstairs in the Celestial Realm, the Jade Emperor's office gets hit with an extremely familiar zap of lazer eyes from a baby monkey. Every immortal in heaven starts crying.)

Red Girl: "One time i accidentally burnt a bouquet of flowers Xiaoshi gave me, and his gut reaction was to hand-craft me a flower made of literal quartz. That man is a treasure."

If all versions of Sun Luzhen love apples and hates peaches, what about the other Wukongverse kids? Any favourites? It'll be funny the peach loving Wukongs have half of their kids not liking peaches. The betrayal of genetics.
At least Heaven's Peach Gardens are safe from them... Or are they...?
Referencing this post about Luzhen loving apples and hating peaches.
LMK Xiaotian/MK has canonically expressed his love for stonefruit, so he probably loves peaches. I've seen hcs that he absolute fave though is apricots ("Not too big, not too mushy, just the right amount of cronch!"). This gets his Au counterpart the nickname Apricot.
Mei would love any fruit thats brightly coloured - kiwis being her fav for flavor alone, but dragonfruit is a close second.
Bai He is in the kid phase of "fruit is gross", but Macaque has managed to get her to enjoy frozen blueberries and strawberries.
The Eclipse Twins devour any fruit offered to them like little piranhas, but especially melons. Give them a red watermelon, and the end result looks like a crime scene.
Yuebei is a peach fiend like her baba. No stonefruit left unturned. Her twin brothers Jidu and Luohuo are a little different since they loudly prefer plums and mangos like Macaque.
Hib!Liuer is a peach-fiend like his adoptive dad/mentor. Fa Ming probably convinced the little monk to eat his fruits by telling him how much the Monkey King loved peaches.
Hib!MK/Xiaoyun has a predicament... he does like peaches and other stonefruit - but his fave fruit is pomegranate, a fruit that requires a lot of dexterity to enjoy. Dasheng only found out Xiaoyun had this issue when he caught the one-armed kiddo trying to peel a pomergranate with his feet. Pre-peeled pomegranate fruit/seeds are aa god-send for him.
Shui Lian (the white vixen in the HiB verse) loves most berries and tree fruits, but her favorite is cider apples (like irl foxes) which confuses anyone who eats one and gets a mouthful of super-sour rotten-tasting apple. More for her then :3
In the Reborn verse; Qi Energy/"Fruitie" is a little fruit glutton. As shown in the film; the little nature spirit noms on what appears to be breadfruit, longans, and apples while in the village market. He also eats to replenish his powers. In the reborn au; as Xiao Qi he's even worse. Ever since he's been introduced to stonefruit, he ravages peaches like they're going out of style. The parents still joke that he's a fruit cannibal.
The two wolf siblings (Zhu Yu and Ku Ai) that Reborn!SWK & LEM picks up are used to forest fruits like berries and the rare crabapple. Their favorites are blueberries, which they will literally jump into bushes for. They don't see what the big deal is with peaches.
And ofc you got the 5 Stone-Fruit Monkeys, who are all named for said fruits. More cases of "fruitie cannibalism" the pilgrims joke; as the five babies have declared the fruit they were named for to be "their fruit". Fights will break out if you attempt to feed anyone other than Xiaotao/Little Peach a peach. They all agree that dates are a neutrally-enjoyable fruit however.
Netflix!MK/Xiaoshi loves peaches, but Netflix!SWK actually doesn't care for them that much - bad experience with the poisoned one.
The twin pebbles love cherries, and again, crime scene occurs when left alone with a basket of them. They also love raw tomatoes.
The Heavenly Orchards may breathe a sigh of relief for now... until the different MKs get into the celestial realms and start getting hungry. Xiao Qi and Yuebei probably give a few immortals pstd flashbacks with their snack runs.

So are Pebbles 1 and 2 are the Netflix version of the Eclipse Twins? They do have some similarities.
Does this mean they are like Olive's mini me?
Pretty much. I feel like the Eclipse Twins are like MK in that they've caused a dimensional rift so great that every SWK & LEM couple is destined to have at least one set of twins.
The monkeys with no kids, or just their MKs and/or Luzhens are all very nervous when Cherry busts on in with two mini-Olives in his arms. Fuzzy black fur, grey-white face markings, and six ears, with Cherry's big green eyes.
Cherry: "GUYS! Did you know these things came in multipacks?! And they look just like my Olive?! I love them so much." *starts sobbing with fatherly pride as baby pebbles hugs his face*. ·°՞(≧□≦)՞°·. The Other Monkeys: *look between the twin pebbles, + the canon! and the au! Eclipse Twins* Dasheng: "...I'm suddenly very nervous." Smokey, praying: "Please merciful Guanyin, we've already had multiples!" Shihou, oblivious: "Aww! I didn't know they could come in pairs either! They're so cute!" Ace and Starfruit: *both staring blankly off into the distance* Sugar: "...well it's nice to have a warning."
The LEMs are more like "guys its just a coincidence." Except Liang, who's quietly praying to Guanyin to knock it off for a few years. And Zhanshi, who loudly proclaims "YES!!" with excitement.

[I imagine the pair would still get blind-sighted by the news - and yelled at by Pigsy who at first believes its another fruit-baby situation XD]
Ooh, wait, just occurred to me…assuming it’s just Liang whose preggo and not both of the Fruitiedads – cuz not sure even Buddha wanted to know what those two were up to XD – then he’s pregnant, while on the Journey…all the morning sickness, weird cravings, pregnancy brain, bouts of exhaustion…those would be fun times.
While not scientific, imagine if Liang got DOUBLE pregnancy because he’s got twins – so, he forgets things he has on him, making him look for it, but he also forgets what it is he’s looking for, which often means he just wanders off.
Reborn-ZBJ getting so sick of it, he ties a rope around Liang and Tripitaka’s waists – “So, when Master gets kidnapped again-” *Offended Monk Noises* “-you know it’s true! Anyway, Monkey then will find them thrice as fast, because he’s also attached to his mate and kid. And likewise, if Liu Er starts wandering away, Master won’t be far behind to let us know where to find them. Simple!”
sequel to Smokey and Liang's possible Eclipse Twins.
Liang being like "Eh we've made kids before, can't be too hard" when he finds out about incoming twins, only to get spells of fatigue and nausea almost immediately.
Frequently confuses the names of the kiddos with one another (anyone with multiple siblings will tell you that this is a Mom Thing), and panics when he think he's misplaced one of the babies. He didn't, turns out Ao Lie was being used as a horsey ride and he forgot to say something.
Smokey is a protective guy at the best of times, and now that his mate is vunerable He's like a guard dog ready to snap at anyone who comes close to his little troop. Liang thinks he overreacts, but he finds it sweet.
The kiddos all def crowd around Liang, both similarly protective and curious. Xiao Qi doesn't know what to expect - Bama isn't a tree, where fruit coming out? The wolf siblings frequently fall asleep with their heads resting up against Liang's stomach, both poised to growl at any potiential threat.
Liang does have ways of using his condition to his advantage however...
Smokey and Xuanzang/Tripitaka: *arguing over Smokey's violence/the monk's naiveity* Sha Wujing: "We should really intervene." Liang, pregnant and holding one of the fruitie babies: "Don't worry, I know how to get Wukong to stop." (Liang waddles closer to Tripitaka and Smokey) Liang: "Love, my feet hurt. Can you help me settle the cubs down for a nap?" Smokey, immediately forgetting Tripitaka/the fight: "Ah. Sorry, moonlight." *picks up Liang bridal-style and walks away as some of the kids cling onto his back* Sha Wujing, pleasantly surprised: "Ah. That did get him to stop." Zhu Bajie: "...I'm terrifed of that Liu'er Mihou. Any being that can get Older Brother to behave himself has power rivalling the Buddha himself."
Meanwhile, Tripitaka is just left mid-lecture just like ( •̀_•́) cus he's still got stuff to say, but he knows its useless to snap SWK out of dad-mode.
Of course now demon and celestial kind are convinced that Smokey and Liang have been doing nothing since the king's return except multiplying. His FFM subjects are thrilled, while the gods shake in terror.

[Cherry and Olive will no doubt over take them eventually or at least try.] + [So yeah, the moment any empty-nest feelings kick in .. Xiaoshi probably gets slammed with the news of a baby sibling(s) when he's like... a toddler cus his parents could barely hold themselves back.]
I get this is a cute and funny image, but...I kinda worry that-okay, so, some years back I was reading through subreddits about terrible families and one person was telling about their mother, nicknamed 'The Babymaker', who would birth and adopt kids, get bored of them once the cute baby stage goes away and makes/gets more, like, how SWK goes through peaches (except I feel like even he couldn't match the amount before calling it quits).
OP had never said how many siblings, obviously for identity protection, but given the world record of the most kids being born to a mother is 69 - I imagine it is a lot of kids.
So, my worry here, is that, like Babymaker, they get tired of the kids when they're older and make a new cute one, which would lead to a bunch of neglected kids.
Referenced posts about the netflix monkeys wanting lots of kids.
Aww, I'd never do that to the pebbles :(
But I def could see a Rugrats Movie situation occurring upon the birth of Pebbles 1 & 2 (Hupo/Hǔpò/"amber" and Zhenzhu/Zhēnzhū/"pearl") with Xiaoshi. The parent monkeys dont intend to be neglectful, they just underestimated the extra time needed with double the amount of the baby.
Cherry and Olive eventually have a an "oh shit we're doing a Bad"-realization when they find Xiaoshi cuddling up against a pair of lumped-together pillows and blankets one night. They mutually agree to try and "focus on what we got now" before trying for anymore kiddos, no matter how strong the cuteness of new infants is. Also the novelty of "adorable new baby" starts to wear off after a while.
Cherry already knows what it's like to be an ignored child, and he never wants his kids to feel the same way. Olive also isn't that kind of superficial about having kids, he just wants to have a big loving family with Cherry since they were both denyed one growing up.
They probably also have an extra parenting epiphany when they and the Pilgrims encounter a Big Mom (One Piece)-esque villain with an army of neglected super-powerful demon kids.
It be more like the parents from Cheaper by the Dozen or Yours, Mine & Ours, a lot of kids, but nonetheless dedicated to raising them all.
Also the novelty of "adorable new baby" starts to wear off after a while.

Cherry gets one colicky baby (Luzhen) and he re-thinks his entire self-imposed challenge.

Since Dasheng had a nightmare over the thought of having multiples, how does he feel about the twins? Zhanshi and the others sounds excited about it at least.
Referencing: Dasheng's nightmare. >:)
This monkey is Terrified.
By this point he's babysat the Gold and Silver Demon Twins, and he still has the calabash burns from the incident. So this monkey dad scared at the possibility of more than one chaos infant at once.
The HiB fam have also experienced Xiaoyun's tense hatching/first few years. The preemie cub required a lot of attention and extra care in the first months. When news of the twins comes about, Xiaoyun is about three years old and finally starting to run around on his own. The fam are very proud and very tired.
Then while chilling around Kingdom of Women on an adventure, they notice something off about Zhanshi's reflection in the river water...
Dasheng faints when the explanation clicks. Zhanshi shrieks with joy.
More so because they didn't know they could make kids. Being "outside the natural order" (as the Buddha explains in Jttw) doesnt really give you much idea of how you're *supposed* to reproduce. Both monkeys thought it was randomly-spawning Stone Eggs only.
Then again, considering how *ahem* amourous ReboundedHeroes are on eachother, Dasheng is relieved only one of them got pregnant. (Except Pigsy when he fell in the river, but that was resolved).
Dasheng is scared. But more for his mate. Zhanshi has always been his right-hand warrior - and to see her experience the unpredicable symptoms of pregnancy freaks him out.
Zhanshi: *starts sobbing* HiB fam: *all in attack-mode* Dasheng, ready to murder: "WHO HURT MY WIFE!?" Zhanshi, sniffling/laughing: "Sorry love. There was a dead wasp inside this fig and it made me sad." Dasheng: *picks up the discarded fig and glares/eye-lazers it to dust* Zhanshi, cravings activated: "...now I want barbeque." Pigsy: *concerned squeal?!*
She also gets very fatigued, a far cry from her usual self. She essentially spends the last few weeks bedridden from tiredness, bored out of her mind while her mate paces their home like a guard dog. Pigsy is a surprisingly great help during this time, pulling out the pipa for some music and stories whenever the warrior feels too tired to read.
At the end of the day, Dasheng would be happy with any number of infants if it they and Zhanshi come out of it healthy and happy.
The twins come out, surprisingly not as copies of their LEM, but as a duo of little coconut macaroons. Like their baba, their baby fur is a messy mix of white and brown streaks. Its only when they get older does their hair darken to a deep red-auburn. Their six ears and deep violet eyes still give clear indication who their mother is.
They're both curious and chirpy, and are already trying to climb over their big siblings (Liuer and Shui Lian were delighted). Xiaoyun is introduced cautiously, and immediately curls around the new babies in a mixture of wonder and protectiveness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dasheng cries (and faints) with relief that his twins are not Jin and Yin-level monsters. Like Xiaoyun before them, The Twins have their dear baba wrapped around their little fingers the moment they reach out and grab at his face. Dasheng can do nothing but pepper his growing family with kisses. X3
I feel like these twins end up named after nuts/trees because of their furs. Or maybe the themed route (Liuer = little flow/floats, Shui Lian = water lily, + Xiaoyun = little cloud), and their named them after water phenomenon like rain or snow depending on how chaotic Zhanshi's magic made the weather XD

What does Netflix dbl&pif think of their baby girl's little boyfriend. Do they like him are do they think he's not good enough for there darling princess.
A how do the monkeys like there fiery soon to be daughter-in-law
Welll....
Since both this version of Red Girl and her Dad/DBK have just escaped the Underworld and the Bull family want the Monkey King's head on a platter...
It takes DBK & PIF a while to warm up to their daughter's little "friend".
DBK sees child Xiaoshi for the first time and his first thought is; "That blasted ape reincarnated!" and nearly destroys a mountain range trying to catch him.
Red Girl has the slightly more reasonable first impression of "Ah, a fellow wild child. Lets bring chaos to this world - Together!" And Xiaoshi meekly agrees.
Princess Iron Fan is just like; "Eww, someone tracked ink and charcoal dust all over my throne room- is that a monkey!?" She initally freaks out like she's seen a wild animal in her house - using her fan like a broom. Red has to interject to say that Xiaoshi is her new friend/playmate. PIF isn't happy... but her little firelily has so few friends as is... she allows it.
Then the parents learn that this messy simian is the son of the monkey who sent both DBK and Red Girl into the Underworld?! Hatred. Kicked out of the cave with a fair warning.
Red and Xiaoshi continue their friendship in a more discreet way, far from the view of her over-protective parents. They still greatly discourage it, but not much will let Red Girl obey that kind of order.
So the s-storm that occurs when Red shows signs to her parents of falling in love with the monkey?
Might just cause a kaiju battle between both sides of parents.

So how's the reunion between Silly Girl and her parents like?
During an adventure with HiB family, they bump into them? Or her parents saw her strap to one of the monkey's back and thought they were the ones who kidnapped her?
The HiB family never stop trying to the find Silly Girl's origins post-film. I imagine took a while to reunite some of the stolen children with their families/guardians. Even with the assistance of minor gods and a dragon with a great sense of smell, it would take a few days to fully determine which infant belonged to whom. And of course there's orphans that the trolls likely stole first, needing to find homes in their own right. The HiB group accidentally end up running an orphanage for a brief amount of time as prospective parents come to adopt the parent-less stragglers.
Leaving only 1 child left out of the 100 taken by Hundun and his forces.
A certain familiar giggly little girl with a big secret that makes all possible adoptive human parents turn tail and run.
Silly Girl is discovered to have a very strong glamour affixed to her that finally started to wear off around the time Liuer was still bed-bound & healing from the battle with Hundun.
Pigsy: "Hey monkey! The little one's grown in her baby hooves!" Dasheng: "That's nice... wait."
Quickly they identify that Silly Girl is definitely not 100% human, and was likely given a glamour by her kidnappers to hide her true origins. Combined with a sudden growth spurt in her magic leading to a lot of tiny fires, the gang really want to find out who her parents are.
About a another month passes before reports of a pair of rampaging demons "ransacking" orphanages around Chang'an, but never taking a soul, reaches Mount Huaguo.
Dasheng gets a hunch and decides to bring the gang over for a look. Zhanshi agrees to keep Silly Girl hidden until they can get a confirmed motive from the demons.
Landing in the ruins of a yaoguai-torn village, the gang barely have a moment to breathe when a magic whirlwind suddenly snatches up Liuer - danging him many feet in the air. Before the adults can jump to assist, A mighty bellow fills the sky as a massive creature comes into view, flanked by his air-light mate.
The Great Sage raises his staff to the creature, ready to cave it's skull in if it means the safety of his charge. The kaiju-sized ox suddenly pauses and huffs with surprise;
The Demon Bull King, pauses boss music: "Wait... Xiandi [worthy little brother]?!" Dasheng, lowering his staff: "...Brother Bull??" Princess Iron Fan, using her magic wind to bind Liuer: "Sun Wukong is here?" HiB!DBK, delighted: "Wukong you old Sun! I had no idea you'd escaped the Buddha's grip! How did you manage that?" Dasheng, gritting his fangs: "I did with the help of someone very important to me. Someone your lover is currently danging 50 chi in the air." HiB!PIF: *looks at the boy dangling in her grip* Liuer, terrified but starstruck: "Hi! You're Princess Iron Fan, and The Demon Bull King; the Great Sage that Pacifies Heaven! You both abandoned heaven cus you fell in love during the Havoc! Are you both still together?" HiB!DBK, chest puffed out with pride: "She is my wife now." Dasheng, growing more frustrated: "And she'll be your widow if she doesn't lower him to the ground safely!" HiB!PIF: "Why should I? All the information we gathered points this little thief as being the last one to see our baby girl alive!" HiB!Pigsy: "Baby girl? Wait, Monkey. You think she means-?" Zhanshi: *arrives on scene in her own furious whirlwind. Silly Girl strapped to her front in a baby sling* Zhanshi, ready to murder: "GIVE ME MY CUB OR- Tieshan?" HiB!PIF, haven't seen eachother in centuries: "Liu'er Mihou!?" Silly Girl, arms outstretched towards PIF: "Mama!" HiB! DBK & PIF: *immediately drop their weapons/kaiju forms to rush forward and reunite with their little girl. PIF lowers Liuer safely into Dasheng's arms as they do the exchange* HiB!PIF, sobbing and clutching her daughter tight: "Oh, Hong Hai'er! My little firefly! I'm so sorry I let you out of my sight for a single second! Did those terrible trolls do anything to you?!" Silly Girl: *delighted giggling and playing with her mom's hair* Hib!DBK, not even trying to hold back tears: "We're so sorry Xiandi! We were following leads to where our daughter was last seen. These... lowly mountain yao swiped her from her crib and headed eastward. The people of Chang'an said that your little monk was the last one to have had her." Fa Ming, finally caught up to the fight: "Thankfully Liuer is a disobedient tudi. He managed to reverse kidnap her from the trolls when they raided the city." Hib!DBK & PIF, looking between the monkeys and the mini-monk: "Liu'er?" [sounds similar] Liuer: *has dark hair, a Monkey King-esque face marking/paint, maybe even a tail like in my revived part-monkey!Liuer idea* Dasheng & Zhanshi, realising how it looks: "Uhh. Well..." "It's complicated." Liuer, talking at double-speed: "First me and Sifu saved Silly Girl from the trolls, but me and Silly Girl got lost, and we went into a cave to hide. Then it turned out to be Five Point Mountain, and I see this big blue crystal and-" *trails off without taking a breath* HiB!DBK: "Your calf seems to have a picture perfect memory at least." HiB!PIF: "Sister, you really should have told us about him. Or told us you were alive even." Dasheng & Zhanshi, talking over one another: "He's not mine-" "We didn't-!" Hib!DBK: "No worries, we should understand. We too kept a low profile after the Havoc. Even more so when our little firefly was born. You saw what a fuss we made to get her back." *nuzzles his daughter's head* Silly Girl, babbling happily: "Ba-ba-abbababa!" HiB!PIF: "I can't believe we almost lost her for good... we owe you an apology Little Liu'er, and our deepest gratitude." Liuer, still starstuck: *faints with joy* HiB!DBK: "Um... Is he ok?" Dasheng, patting Liuer's back: "Yeah don't worry. He does that when he meets someone from our pasts." Zhanshi: "And when he met the Egg for the first time." HiB!DBK & PIF, eyes glowing with excitedment: "More children?!"
They def didn't expect the Cloud Egg to be an actual stone egg, but they're estatic for their old friends nonetheless. The two couples (with details filled in by friends) just sit around for hours inside Water-Curtain Cave, talking about their adventures, and letting the Demon Bull couple catch up with their daughter.
The HiB family also comment on a odd habit Silly Girl has ever since she came to the island. She likes to hug the Cloud Egg whenever possible. Shrieks/moos with anger if removed. PIF and DBK just laugh, explaining that they keep chickens in the palace gardens. Silly Girl likely remembers the hens incubating their eggs and thinks the Cloud Egg needs to be kept warm. The parents aww at the thought.
The HiB family feel a little bittersweet at Silly Girl going home to her family. Truly its a miracle they reunited, but it's also sad that the firey toddler they've come to love is leaving them. They all make promises to the Demon Bull couple to visit whenever they pass by the Flaming Mountains. Dasheng and Zhanshi hold/cradle Liuer and the Cloud Egg for hours after the reunited trio leave westward on the horizon.
Liuer in turn hugs the Cloud Egg like he's seen Silly Girl (or he supposes Silly Red Girl) do many times before, hoping it brings him clarity. He's pleasantly surprised to feel tiny pulses of magic dancing in rhythm to his own heartbeat as he holds the Egg. He vows to make sure no one EVER hurts his fellow tudi (sibling?), and vows to protect Silly Red Girl if they ever meet again...

Are Reborn!IronBull also cursed by Queen Mother of the West? Maybe with Xiao Qi there, they have a better chance of getting cured? If it does, they have no reservations on having him joining their family as a son in law. 😅
Oh gosh I can just imagine the first time the pilgrims run into the Reborn!Ironbull couple is sometime after Reborn!Red starts being friends with Xiao Qi. "Let me invite you to my house!"-kinda situation.
The two sets of parents immediately recognise eachother. They're all are delighted to see an old pair of friends once more, and more so to see them with kids!
Reborn!DBK, booming laughter: "Xiandi [worthy little brother]! I thought you said you and the Macaque would never get along in a million years! Now your calves are storming my palace!" XD Liang, sly smile: "In his defence, most were unplanned." Smokey: *blushing furiously, as the five younger monkeys use him like a jungle gym*
Its all the pleasantries and relaxation and convincing the couple to help them cross the Flaming Mountains for old times sake. But at some point during dinner, Xiao Qi (already having made a good impression on the Demon Bull Couple as a polite little man) wanders up to Iron Fan with a sad look on his face...
Reborn!PIF: "What is it, little one?" Xiao Qi: "It's not fair what Wangmu did to you..." Reborn!PIF, surprised: "What do you mean?" Xiao Qi, tearing up cus hyper-empathy: "Wangmu put a curse on your tummy and it makes it hard for you to have babies. It's not fair." Everyone at the dinner table: *shocked silent* Xiao Qi: *puts a little pink fuzzy hand on PIF's middle. The hand glows, and the image of a seal/magic sigil breaking forms* Everyone: (」°ロ°)」 Σ(゚口゚;)// Xiao Qi, smiling widely: "There! I got rid of it! It wont hurt you anymore, and Red can have a baby brother like she told me she wanted!" *happily wanders back to his seat* Reborn!Red, in the seat next to them: "I told you that in confidence!" Reborn!DBK & PIF: *both looking at eachother in complete shock. Their hands hovering over PIF's middle as they feel a lightness not felt in centuries* Smokey, also shocked but used to it: "Fruitie, I said no lifting curses without asking first!" Xiao Qi, face stuffed with food: "But it was making her sad!!" Liang: "Oh by the buddha! We're so sorry Tieshan! A-Qi has strong healing magic and-" Reborn!Ironbull: *Liang's apology gets cut off as both start crying with joy at the realisation*
Of course with the knowledge that Red's best-friend/crush is a super powerful magic-user with a heart as big as the world, and who lifted a divine curse made by Xiwangmu herself, the Reborn!Ironbull couple are asking for marriage arrangements this century.
Red shrieks in embarassment, while Xiao Qi asks aloud what marriage is.
Smokey and Liang politely decide to leave it up to the kids once they get older, but only get away with that if they agree to actually marry eachother finally - the Demon Bull couple don't want to be potiential in-laws to a couple living in sin! The Fruitiedads can't even argue that they're "just friends/rivals" anymore, that barrier got crossed around the time the five stone-fruit-monkeys happened.
Reborn!Pigsy: "Excellent! Will there be a wedding banquet?" Reborn!Sandy: *lets out a stream of gasp bubbles* Smokey, shrugging with a cheeky smile: "Well guess I might not be a monk for much longer." Liang, similar cheeky look: "Oh please, you havent been a monk for years now." Rest of the fruitiedad kiddos: *happy chirping/barking!*
Tripitaka has to officiate. He faints seconds after the ceremony comences.
Red holds Xiao Qi's hand for years after wards, loudly proclaiming "I'm not marrying him!" while drawing "Mr & Mrs Sun-Demon Bull" into her diary. Xiao Qi is terribly dense but adoring nonetheless.
