Note
After luzhen, even Wukogn and Macaque are literally begging the dieties to stop. They did it! They saved the species! PLEASE LET US GO ONE DAY WITHOUT BEING PREGNANT!!
Odds are they didnt even *make* Luzhen in the au XD
Wukong was fixing up FFM after the Brotherhood incident and was bust reshaping the earth when...
Wukong, gold-vision acting up: "What the??" *digs up a "geode" surrounded by oddly-shaped shatttered rock* Wukong: *sees a flicker of life deep within* Wukong: "Uh oh." The "Geode": *starts shaking* Wukong: "UH OH!!!"
Tumblr media
Macaque walks over asking whats the big deal, when the "geode" decides "New troop! New parents!!" and bam! Luzhen busts out the stray stone egg about the size of a toddler. He's super giggly, muddy, and looks scarily like Wukong. The second he reaches out to Shadowpeach for uppsies, Wukong scoops the baby up like he would any of his own infants.
The Monkie Kid gang all gasp in surprise when they next see the monkey couple. Someone asks if Luzhen was an "express delivery" Wukong spawned in while him and Macaque were working on the island.
Yuebei and the two sets of twins (the Lunar node boys and the Eclipse duo) are all super delighted, chirping at Luzhen like he's a new brother. And he pretty much is, given that Macaque and Wukong have already mentally agreed to adopt/pretend Luzhen's theirs.
The only big questions on Wukong's mind is; Who was the parent that gave their life for Luzhen? Was it a fellow Stone Monkey who buried themselves long before the King's time? Was the body buried there by unknowing monkey demons? Why does Luzhen look so much like him!?

MK THEORY
Season 4 has let me think a lot of things about MK since they have shown his monkey form... well, I have another theory for you.
In season 4, episode 7, MK is hinted and later revealed to be a monkey, let it be mystical monkey, and I have a theory of who he might be (or inspired by)
Sun Luzhen from Later Journey to the West, a Ming Dynasty novel.
Sun Luzhen, in the novel, is a monkey born from a stone who eventually is the disciple of Sun Wukong.
I have my reasons onto why MK can be Sun Luzhen or inspired by Sun Luzhen, whether it is intended or not by the writers.
MK's name in the mandarin/taiwanese dub
Tumblr media
孙小圣 (Sun xiaosheng) is a name Sun Luzhen is often referred to, as well as 齐天小圣 qitian xiaosheng (Small Sage Equal to Heaven)
What is MK's chinese dub name? 齐小天 (qi xiaotian)
Did you make the connection?
In the novel, he repeated all the patterns Sun Wukong did in Journey to The West (overtook heaven, ate +6 things that made him immortal...) and at the end, Sun Wukong puts him the same circlet he had in the journey.
Tumblr media
What if in season 5, MK is destined to suffer the same fate as Sun Wukong? The circlet...
Anyway, this is just a theory, but I can't stop thinking about the possibilities

Do you know all of Sun Wukong's children? I understand that King Paramita is Lady Iron Fan's son with Wukong(?). and that Yuebei Xing and her brothers are maybe children of Taiyin xing (the theory). Obviously I understand that they are not like something canon, however, it is interesting to know about them.
I can’t say that I do know every iteration that Wukong has kids but I can try to make a list of what I got at least! There are the non-canon kids of Sun Wukong that I know of at least right now. I'm sure there is more but these are the ones I know from media at the moment.
A Supplement to the Journey to the West (1640) 西遊補 (this is just a dream) Paramita 4 other unnamed sons
Journey to the South (1570) 南遊記 (unnamed partner) Jidu Luohou Yuebei Xing
Later Journey to the West (17th-century) 後西遊記 Sun Luzhen (adopted)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000) マーヴル VS. カプコン 2 Sonson
Westward Journey Online II (2002) 大话西游2经典版 Mind Monkey (unintentionally contributed to new Rock Monkey)
High School DxD (2008) ハイスクールD×D Bikou
The Monkey King's Daughter (2009) Meilin Cheng
New Journey to the West: Unexpected Jingxi (2017) 新西游之意外晶喜 Unborn child (with White Bone spirit) (also might not be his)
Adventure in Journey to the West (2018)大闹西游 Sun Wuyuan (disciple, but like it's obvious he adopted)
God of High School (2020) 갓 오브 하이 스쿨 Park Taejin (adopted)
DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration #1 (2021) Sun Marcus (hair clone treated as child)
The Chronicles of the Ranger (2021) 游侠战纪 Hou Mo (stone monkey, hard to say if direct descendant)
Monkey King (2022) 悟·空 Sun Xiaosheng (disciple, might be adopted)
American Born Chinese(2023) Sun Wei-Chen
Honorary mentions:
Monkey King: Hero Is Back (2015) 西遊記之大聖歸來 Jiang Liu'er Anan
My Dad is Monkey King (2021) 我的爸爸是齐天大圣 Li Yiyi (this is more symbolic than real dad)
Lego Monkie Kid (2021) 悟空小侠 Qi Xiaotian / MK (stone monkey, possibly related)
So this is NOT ALL of the children I'm sure but I'm sure as I keep posting media that the list with increase!

I made a fanfic about the non-canon kids for Supplement JTTW, JTTS, and PJTTW!
I do wanna say that I started the chapters with Wukong being mostly inspired by 1996 Xiyouji dynamics and who Wukong is mostly based on. The first chapters are about Paramita and the four unnamed kids in Supplement! All named after paramitas in buddism.
I try to base each kid off one of Wukong's inspirations in media! I hope y'all enjoy!
Tumblr media
I'm not the best artist but I did have fun trying to draw them
Pink - Jnana, fifth born
Red - Paramita, first born
Yellow - Bala, fourth born
Green - Pranidhana, thrid born
Blue - Upaya - second born

we should give more attention to Sun Luzhen. Like
• He is born from a rock like swk
• He takes swk’s last name
• he also causes havoc in heaven
• swk’s spiritual successor
He is interesting me thinks

Based on the forgotten sequel of 'A Supplement to the Journey to the West', 'Journey to the South' and ' Later Journey to the West'. The Monkey King has a total of eight children shared between two 17th-century novels, but only four are mentioned by name along with a descendant. The ones mention by name; Paramita, Jidu, Luohou, and Yuebei Xing and Luzhen. Peach Tree AU From left to right, oldest to youngest: Paramita, Jidu, Louhou, Yuebei Xing, Shani, Shruka, Kasei, Xingzuo Xingxi and Luzhen.

Here a idea
Tumblr media
I couldn't help but think about is that such if mk is a representation of sun luzhen, mk is not literally sun luzhen. But it still takes many points from the story of the spiritual successor of the Monkey King, as an allegory
Example sun luzhen was born of a rock like sun wukong
And then I thought it would happen if there's more than one performance of all the sun wukong children: yuebei Xing, king paramita luohou and Jidu
Tumblr media
For example
Luohou and Jidu:
could be represented by rumble and savage
Tumblr media
I don't know who could represent yuebei maybe a new character or something
Tumblr media
Now about king paramita
Tumblr media
I know that technically he does not count because it is an illusion of yaoguai qing fish but I have an interesting idea about how king paramita could be represented in program and it is
Tumblr media
What if the paramita king is depicted asa general ink that somehow ends up absorbing sun wukong's powers and gains consciousness in the process, but still on the enemy side, I think it would fit perfectly asa representation of the paramita king, I mean he's a general, he has four brothers, and also basically because the paramita king is not statically real and in a supplement to the journey to the west is just an illusion of qing fish, Created to confuse and manipulate sun wukong

Finally made bios for My Ninjago x LMK AU, which I’ll be calling ‘Ninjago Reborn’
Both in relation to the plot and because most of Wukong and Nezha’s movie titles have ‘Reborn’ in them.
Summary of the AU:
The Au starts in Ninjago, during the Merge, years after the Imperium rule. The Merges got worse that every single Elemental Master was called to close the portals that were seeping into the world, however, mid-way through the convergence an attack from the Heavens struck down into the battlefield, killing every single Elemental Master in sight, Lloyd in an effort to save Sora and Arin opens a portal and sends them to the future where he knows they’ll be safe. After Sora and Arin settle into the city of Megapolis, they find out that Lloyd had reincarnated into the Monkey King’s son, Qi Xiaotian. With the Addition of somehow being able to hold every single Elemental Power in existence…without being able to control any of them. Now, with the Monkey King’s staff given to him, MK the Monkie Kid upholds the legacy of the Elemental Masters and the Legacy of the Monkey King.
Extra Character Info:
Qi Xiaotian/MK
-His original name was ‘Sun Luzhen’ (Monkey who Walks Reality) But Wukong thought to give MK his own destiny without being bound to just being ‘Monkey’ so he called him ‘Qi Xiaotian’ (Together Little Heaven/Sky)
-MK holds all the Powers of the Elemental Masters for some unknown reason, however this does not include, Tech, (Whatever the hell Arin’s is), Ice, Heat and Time.
-MK’s strongest powers amongst all of them is Fire and Earth. Water, Wind and Lightning are the ones he can barely tap into.
-MK wears a human disguise, he is aware of his Stone Monkey past, however, it is much rare to see a monkey demon just running about Megapolis, and MK wants to be treated normally.
-Government wise, MK’s legal guardians are Arin and Sora. Who MK sees as older siblings. Sometimes he’ll use ‘Garmadon’ as his last name, most of the time, no.
-MK still has his father’s powers.
Arin
-Still keeps Riyu, Riyu just flies off somewhere sometimes (Actual context is that creator can’t freaking draw dragons)
-His power has improved since Dragon’s Rising.
-Arin makes some of his pies with the fruits from Flower Fruit Mountain, which is why the owner of the bakery doesn’t want him to leave. (Not like he will)
-Arin becomes the first Dragon Rider in a long time to ride a dragon without chains.
-Replaces the Grappling Hook for a spear.
-Arin and Sora are different when it comes to battle so expect them to go feral.
-Arin and Sora have their own apartment, but they do help Wukong raise MK.
-Arin is MK’s Senior
Sora
-Is a famous racer next to Mei and it’s how MK meets Mei in this universe.
-She uses her streams to gain money for her own Research Lab in Megapolis, that requires her to try and find ways to make the technology she makes without the need of her powers.
-Her powers now replicate Creation, just as long as one of those screens around her is on the ground.
-She uses that to create the ‘Triple SA Mark Defense Mech’ or the ‘TMD Mech’ which is basically a power rangers type mech only used for emergencies.
-She helps around with Wukong so Arin gets more screen time than her.
-Sora is MK’s senior.
Sun Wukong
-A little different from Canon Wukong, wears the makeup to hide the circlet scar that hasn’t healed because of it molding around his head for a long period of time.
-His fur is slightly cleaned from burn marks, which were caused by the Trigram furnace, and he has removed the glamour from his eyes. Well only around MK.
-Built a tombstone dedicated to Lloyd and a separate area for the rest of the Ninja.
-Is the Legal Guardian of Arin,Sora and MK, as well as the legal owner of Riyu.
-Wukong is actually a better teacher here (Not that he was bad before, it’s just that his method tended to mirror Subodhi a little)
-Knows Spinjitsu and Ninjargon for some reason.

Imagine if MK hadn't even realized who he was talking to and just thought the ghost monkey was just, well, a regular old spirit. This is his first time doing this sort of thing on FFM, so he wouldn't know it was normal to see monkey ghosts running around with Gold Vision. Then Wukong drops the biggest bomb that, apparently, this nerdy dork of a monkey is the Monkey King's father?? That Guanyin had done him a solid and asked to temporarily allow her sould to return to her past life as Wukong's mother so he might have the chance to meet his parents? Overall MK is gonna freak out, be was probably there when they discovered Luzhen's egg snd learned to truth about Wukong's origins, he probably had to help Wukong out of there when he collapsed from the shock of that realization (something Sandh is definitely helping Wukong to work through because this is BIG)
referencing.
Yesss. MK learns quickly upon gaining Gold Vision, that it can be used to see the spirits of the departed. He learns this on accident when he accidentally assists ghosts in around Megapolis one day.
Part of the reason MK really wanted to join in on Qingming on FFM was because he knows thats a day where the dead walk amongst the living. And if he can pass on some messages from the past to the present monkeys then he'd be delighted.
Yē Lín (椰林/coconut grove) is a super-nerdy brown-furred monkey spirit that reminds MK of a shorter Mr Tang. They run into each other at the fringes of the banquet, the ghost trying his best to attack the bowls of peaches. He's super excited to meet MK and talks at length about how much the island has changed and how well Wukong has grown into his role as the island's leader.
MK is in turn; super excited to meet a monkey from before the Monkey King was hatched! Yē Lín rambles for seemingly hours about what life was like before the Great Flood (something MK has heard but not investigated much of), and of his dearest "stone flower" mate who leaded their troop up until their passings. MK meets the golden-furred woman very briefly, as she's busy strolling around the party, seemingly drinking in the warmth of the fires. She seems fixated on the elder monkeys like the Stalwarts, commenting on how much they've grown since their cubs days.
MK, nervous but curious at why the spirit and his mate appear so young, ask Yē Lín how he passed on.
Yē Lín: "Well see, after the Flood I thought I lost my mate. I got stuck in a cavern beneath the mountain and figured it was the end. So I wrote and drew everything I've ever known on the walls and started the process." MK: "Process?" Yē Lín: "To make my Egg. I hope it isn't lost knowledge by now." MK, realising: "Wait. Are you a stone monkey!?" Yē Lín, smiling in a familiar cheeky manner: "Guilty as charged!" MK: "Then... wait. Is your egg still in the mountain!?" Yē Lín, nods: "Yup. I haven't really moved on yet cus I want to make sure the little fella is found." MK: "I got to tell Monkey King about this! Come with!" Yē Lín, excited: "Sure thing! Maybe we can find my stone flower's egg baby as well!" MK: "She made a Stone Egg too?!" Yē Lín: "Yes, but he hatched centuries ago. He's the mirror image of her- oh there's my wife! I think she's found him!" *runs ahead through the crowd of dancers* MK: *briefly loses sight of the monkey ghost due to the little monkeys playfully clinging to his legs* "Wait up!" Yē Lín: "My love! Have you've seen him yet? He looks just like you! I just saw the little ones! Looks like his heir got cursed with my looks!" MK, catching up: "Monkey King! Have you met these guys yet? They're so cool and they know everything about you and the island!" MK: *realises that Sun Wukong is talking with the same tall near-indentical-looking female monkey spirit* ( 0_0) "wait"
The female monkey spirit turns and smiles with deep warmth.
Like that of a mother.
MK's heart stoppers in his chest.
MK: "The Monkey King's mother."
The Monkie Kid is statue still for the next few moments as he realises just who he's been talking to for the last few hours! He blurts out his discovery without fear of the potential consequences.
MK: "MONKEY KING YOU HAVE A DAD AND A BROTHER!" Wukong, still recovering from meeting his mom: "I have a what!?"
The last remaing hours of Qingming are spent following Yē Lín ("The Monkey King's Dad" MK can't stop thinking) to the cavern where he laid to rest. Those at the party who overheard their prince's shout (especially the King's own shadowy mate) following close behind.
When MK split the mountain open fighting Azure Lion, he accidentally uncovered the very same water-logged cavern which held the Consort's body. Inside the broken-wound-like cave in the mountain's base, finally open after so many centuries, lay the petrified vague form of a Stone Monkey, sitting in a lotus position.
Yē Lín: "I left some naming suggestions on the wall. I think Walks Reality is very appropriate given the circumstances."
The stone body immediately starts shaking with divine energy. The belly cracking open as a Stone Egg is finally found by it's Troop.
A pair of bright blue eyes peak out of the Egg's lazurite shell as it realises it's finally time to wake up.
The spirits of the Matriarch and her Consort aww at how much the newborn monkey resembles it's brother.
Sun Wukong faints.

There are ancient “sequels” that straight up ignore wukong’s buddhahood and giving him oc kids? Did this author favor taoism too?
I am not too sure about that but I like to think that these are more like the first examples of media that are inspired by Wu Cheng’en's Sun Wukong. Just because there are media out there that has Wukong have children don't mean they are trying to deny Wukong's Buddhist ties or connection that he is the Victorious Flying Buddha, but rather... overlook the idea for the sake of their own narrative purposes. The Supplement can actually fit in “canon” as (spoilers) it is all a dream and Wukongs kids are just a figment of his and the demon's imagination that he accidentally knocked Iron Fan up when he jumped in her stomach. Also, the further that it was a dream was that Red Boy didn’t exist in the dream and Iron Fan only was with Wukong. The author usually explains the tomfoolery by saying “It’s a dream don’t think about it too hard.” Also in Journey to the West After, Sun Luzhen is a stone monkey as well and thus Wukong never went against his vows, simply adopting the stone monkey as his new disciple.
As for Journey to the South, it is more a story about the deity Huaguang dadi as Wukong only makes a guest cameo in the first chapter and the last chapter, the children only being mentioned in the last and even then only Yuebei Xing was the only one with lines and actions. Poor Jidu and Luohou don't even get anything outside of a name-drop. But otherwise, there is also no mention of a wife either. It is left in that territory of... ambiguity where they never really address Wukong having a wife let alone how Wukong got these kids, just that they were his. There is a chance they are adopted but considering he does separate them from his other subjects as he calls his monkey subjects grandchildren, there is a higher chance they are his bio kids. Wukong is addressed by his Great Sage title more often than not but they all acknowledge that he went on the journey is a Buddist disciple under Tang Sanzang as well. So while I do admit it is contradictory I also believe it is one of those cases of "What if"s that is more asking the audience to please give that detail a "suspension of disbelief" treatment rather than trying to make a statement.
I'm not saying that while it would make more sense to keep Wukong as his Buddha title as that is canon in the story, there are a lot of modern media where Wukong does have offspring of some kind for the sake of "what if" cases. Sometimes authors or directors take a lot of leeway with source material for the sake of their own creative ideas and while in most cases I do think that is more for the sake of their narrative purpose than just any religious animosity. I understand that it can be upsetting but Journey to the South does more side-step the idea of Wukong being in a relationship, rather more forced on the idea that Wukong is a father-figure which personally is more of a cute idea that trying to force a romance that is never explored either.

Monkie Kid theory
A little disclaimer I have very little knowledge on any form of Chinese literature or mythology. So everything I put down is scratching the surface. Also their is spoilers for S4
Allrighty think I know who MK is or at least who he’s based off. After the original Journey of the West was their was numerous unofficial sequels. Many of which gives Wukong children in various ways. Eight of them between two 17th century novels and one honorable one who is spiritual descendant of Wukong.
Only about four of the unofficial children were mentioned by name, two who had any relevance. All of which have a unique connection to Buddhism and Asian Astrology.
Five sons by Princess Iron Fan but only one is mentioned King Pāramitā. He was conceived somehow when Wukong turned into fly and entered PIFs stomach. From ch.59 of the OG TJTTW.
Pāramitā is from the story A Supplement of Journey to the South.
The other three who’s name we know are from the story Journey to the South.
They are two sons Jidu, Luohou, and his one daughter Yuebei Xing.
But then we have the spiritual descendant Sun Luzhen from the story The Later Journey to the West.Sun Luzhen was born from the same stone that Wukong sprung from. And after hearing the many stories of Wukong after emerging from the stone he gave himself the title Small Sage Equaling Heaven and went down the same path of Wukong.
MK in s3 episode 3 called himself Somewhat equal to heaven.
Luzhen basically speeds runs Wukong’s journey causing a bunch of Mayhem and Havoc. So the Jade emperor tells Wukong to stop him.
Wukong tells him the dangers of Brute Force and begins Luzhen’s enlightenment.
Essentially brute force isn’t the only way like VR king was telling MK in season 2.
MK’s character and his is clearly based off of Luzhen.
Like Wukong Luzhen is a stone monkey.
Luzhen even had two companions Zhu Yijie the son of Zhu Bajie and Sha Zhihe the disciple of Sha Wujing.
Pigsy and Sandy. It’s interesting that Monkie Kid had them being old friend.
Like I said I haven’t read any of these stories but going off of a brief summary of the stories. It’s actually interesting to see how writers of the past made their own stories based off other stories.
But yeah Sun Luzhen might be the inspiration for MK’s character. If not the story of Monkie Kid. Their not exactly one to one for the characters. But it might reveal where we’re going in the story. Maybe MK discovers the secrets to immortality like Luzhen.
But I am curious how the other stone animals and the mysterious goddess will play into things. I’m assuming it’s going to be Guanying given her connection to the original journey story but can easily be another creation goddess. MK clearly knows more then he realizes and Wukong definitely knows what MK is since MK was born from his stone on his mountain.
Whatever season 5 or the special hopefully it goes into what MK is.
Links to the sources I used.

What do you think
Hmmmm could potentially be cool, especially since it seems like this could be a neat way to maybe show how one's past bad actions even if one is trying to genuinely improve can be twisted by others with malicious intent in a bid to reinforce the idea that you'll never be able to get better as a person & thus leave one open to manipulation! But I'll be honest @maidenofthecloud the relentless focus on Sun Wukong's blatantly catastrophic decisions in Monkie Kid has made me more and more disheartened by the plot for awhile now, & honestly this idea about the Paramita King, while potentially pretty cool, seems like it would be used as another opportunity for Flying Bark to do their usual thing and have him be yet another antagonist who's there so we can all watch the Monkey King get yelled at yet again for ruining everything while the plot scrambles to at least semi-validate the reasons for said yelling lmao.
