[ID: A five-page comic. The first page is filled with white text against a black background. Along the top and bottom of the background are two rows of doors, sketched out in yellow lines. A face drawn entirely in pink lines grins eerily upwards from the bottom left corner of the background, while in the top right corner, an oval mirror is drawn in blue. The text of the first panel reads:
SASHA: I couldn’t see it, but I could...feel it. I could feel it coming for me. I thought I was dead. But, in my desperation, I started clawing at the walls, looking for...I don’t know what. Something that felt real under my fingernails. But, when I started to scrape, the wallpaper began to...peel off, is the best word for it, I think, but it peeled...more like skin than paper. Underneath the wallpaper...was a door. Old and rickety, partly sealed into the wall. I didn’t think, I just found the handle and pulled as hard as I could. It wouldn’t budge at first, and I thought for sure whatever was chasing me was going to catch me, a-and...but then, with one last burst of strength, I wrenched the door open and flung myself out of those hallways.
I hit the floor, and lay there for a moment...until I saw the floorboards and recognized a tea stain from a mug I’d dropped once when Tim had me doubled over in laughter from a joke he’d told. I could have cried. I was in the archives, I thought I was finally safe… Of course, then Michael showed up and...well you know the rest, don’t you? Statement ends, I suppose.
The second page shows Jon and Sasha sitting across from each other at a desk.
JON: ….right.
SASHA: I know things have probably changed a lot since I’ve been gone. But Jon…
[A close-up on Jon’s eyes]
SASHA: You do believe me, don’t you?
[Jon reaches across the desk and takes Sasha’s hand, and there is a closeup on their hands
together.]
JON: Sasha - more than anything, I’m glad you’re back. And I believe you.
[A cutaway panel shows Jon glancing to the side, sadly and apprehensively]
SASHA: Thank you, Jon.
The third page shows the door of Jon’s office, with pink swirls indicating motion and onomatopoeia indicating that someone is knocking on the door. Tim peeks his head around the door and then Tim and Martin enter together.
TIM: Hey! Um, Martin and I just wanted to see if Sasha wanted some tea?
MARTIN: Hey, Sash.
TIM: Um, if you’re all done here, that is.
[Sasha stands up to leave, before glancing back at Jon]
SASHA: Coming! …..see you soon.
[A separate panel shows the three of them in outline leaving through the doorway, with a closeup on Jon’s face as he watches sadly].
The fourth page shows a closeup of a tape recorder with white buttons and one red button as it is clicked on. Two panels show Jon speaking into the tape recorder with focus. In the first panel, a purple spiderweb is briefly visible behind him, and in the second, a collection of yellow eyes.
JON: Supplemental: I...it sounds awful but I’m not sure how to feel. I should be happy. I am happy. But something doesn’t sit right...at least Tim and Martin seem happy. Sasha’s account does line up date-wise. She first disappeared sometime in late September, roughly a week after my return to the archives and was...and showed up to the archives again on October 2nd, shortly after Helen Richardson gave her statement...and subsequently disappear-was taken by Michael herself. Sasha describes being trapped for a week. Sasha’s description of the hallways seemingly matches with that of Helen Richardson’s but….I...it’s just too easy. I don’t understand why Michael would let her go. Does he want her in the archives? And if so...why? He said...he said “don’t trust the hunter,” but I have no idea what he means by that. I want to accept this at face value, I want to be glad that my coworker, my friend, is back here safe, but I’m not stupid, and I know that’s the most unlikely-...nobody escapes from a monster twice.
The fifth and final page has a background made up of many colorful spirals swirling behind the comic panels, partially forming the hair and face of a person. A panel shows Jon continuing to record, with yellow eyes against the dark blue background.
JON: I don’t want to be paranoid. I want to be grateful...but in Sasha’s statement, when she talked about peeling back the wallpaper and finding the door. Helen’s statement didn’t mention anything like that.
Three more panels show Jon finishing his sentences, then staring off into the distance, lost in thought. The backgrounds are now pink, with eyes and cobwebs still persisting.
JON: It’s almost like Sasha...I don’t know, had more control? Power? But that doesn’t make any sense.
The final two panels are split diagonally, with the left half showing part of Jon’s face against a blue background with yellow eyes, and the right half showing Sasha’s face against a pink background filled with spirals. Jon’s dialogue starts on the left half and concludes on the right.
JON: I’m not going to antagonize Sasha. She doesn’t deserve that. But I will exercise caution. Until I find proof otherwise, I can’t trust -
JON: - that she is not Sasha. END ID]

The Den Fantasy League Weekly Recap: Championship and Season Recap
Fellas,
We’ve finally made it to the end of the road and what a season it has been. Throughout the season we were treated to the expected and unexpected, let’s get to it.
Championship: Team Timshel v. Wilmore Cinderella
As the season went on, these were two teams we couldn’t really get a read on, yet we found them in the championship game. For JP, the week started off in the worst way. Jameis reverted back to his old ways with a 4 INT game and he also had bad games from Carson, Sutton, and OJ that didn’t help his fight. He was able to bounce back with big games from Lindsay, Thomas, and Washington but it just wasn’t enough to slow down Mike’s massive week. Mike, who pulled off the upset last week against Jane, pulled together some big weeks at the right time. Despite Dak’s disappointing 11 points, Mike was able to finalize his championship run with great play from Gurley (16.8), Melvin (16.7), AJ (14.3) NYJ D (13), and a massive game from Andrews (21.3). The hard part was that JP had guys on the bench that could have secured the win but it looks like the clock struck midnight on Cinderella and Mike’s season ends in triumph.
2019 Season Recaps
Champion: Team Timshel
Mike’s season was always right in the middle of the road. As he has been quick to point out, Mike has never had a losing season in our league’s brief history. Despite sitting in the middle of the road, he was able to surge at the right time. Mike was chastised for his first-round pick in Gurley, someone who exploded in the championship game. He then selected Melvin who also went off in the big game. Mike’s early success could be attributed to Dak’s excellent season start and then supplemented by Tannehill’s resurgence. Mike’s team peaked at the right time and he was a great GM throughout the season. Best Pick: AJ Brown, 16th Round Worst Pick: AJ Green, 3rd Round
Wilmore Cinderella
Speaking of a resurgence, last year’s Cabana Boy started off the season on a low note. He went from serving drinks in a “tux” to drafting a 2nd place team. JP’s team, who started off 2-5, was looking like his championship two years ago was a fluke. He was able to make his comeback and secure a spot in the playoffs. JP’s first-round pick was able to set league records and basically carry his team. He was able to overcome his second-round pick in James Conner and ship him off to Gabe’s team and flip him for Carson who helped carry him into the championship game. Unfortunately, he was banged up in JP’s final game. JP’s comeback was a good one but just not enough. Best Pick: Michael Thomas, 1st Round Worst Pick: James Conner, 2nd Round // Cam Newton, 8th Round
Debbie Rowe
Would it be mean to put the Reggie Miller choke gif in? Jake, who set himself apart as one of the top two teams in the league early on, was a force to be reckoned with all season long. Led by his #1 pick in CMC, Jake saw his MVP-like season lead the team in their pursuit of a championship. It’s truly difficult to find a soft-spot on Jake’s team but they just fell apart in the semi-finals when Saints D and Jack Doyle couldn’t get it done on MNF. The team I couldn’t see losing lost. You hate to see it. Best Pick: Christian McCaffrey, 1st Round /// Deshaun Watson, 7th Round Worst Pick: Tarik Cohen, 6th Round
Mixon It Up
Classic Rob, am I right? Rob was able to make it into the quarterfinals despite one of the biggest cold streaks in league history. Rob hit five straight weeks of not surpassing 70 points, luckily getting a win in one of those weeks. (More on that in a bit) It’s hard to establish the alpha on Rob’s team this year. Brady came in hot but mellowed out to the point that Rob had a QB controversy with Rodgers. He was able to find some hope in his acquisition of Mixon but was let down by his first-round pick in Alvin. Best Pick: Kerryon Johnson, 2nd Round Worst Pick: Alvin Kamara, 1st Round
El Commish
I, for one, had zero confidence in my team and I was just happy to be in the playoffs. I’ll admit, my team was up and down all season and I barely snuck in. What I didn’t doubt was that my team could put up points. I was one of the leaders in points for and that didn’t always help translate into the win column. I’m grateful for my guys like Kelce, Juuls, and Henry but just couldn’t find a consistent lineup outside of those guys. I’m down with Falcons forever. FOREVER. Best Pick: Derrick Henry, 3rd Round Worst Pick: Matt Ryan, 7th Round
Hank Mardukas
Another team I thought couldn’t lose, lost. Scott’s team seemed like a team of destiny. Scott finished the regular season with three losses and had the potential league MVP in Lamar Jackson on his team. Add in Dalvin and the rookie Jacobs, Scott’s backfield was one of, if not the, best in the league. Scott’s team was so good had this bench was impeccable. Unfortunately for him, his team ran out of gas in the first round of the playoffs with a big loss to the 2nd place team. Best Pick: Lamar Jackson, 11th Round Worst Pick: Derrius Guice, 5th Round
Kalabar’s Revenge
The warlock himself. G’s team came under some controversy early with his Kurses of Gabe aka Mr. Magorium. Despite his ups and downs, he was able to weasel his way into the playoffs. G started off hot in week one with a big connection in Mahomes and Watkins, something that never repeated itself. Mahomes’s injury hurt him in the long run and he just never really found a good rhythm with anyone else in his lineup despite a few trades. Can G finally overcome his own Kurse of never winning it all next season? Best Pick: George Kittle, 4th Round Worst Pick: Le’Veon Bell, 1st Round
Professor Remus Lupin
Speaking of Kurses, Gabe relinquished control of his squad to Professor Lupin to fight the dark arts. After starting out 0-3, he quickly rattled off five straight, only to lose his next three. Gabe was able to finish out the season on two wins to secure his playoff spot. The turnaround and the fight against the Kurses got Gabe into the playoffs. Gabe’s team couldn’t ever really find an identity and he himself came to qualms with the Browns’ coaching staff and how they handled Gabe’s star player. Best Pick: Nick Chubb, 2nd Round Worst Pick: Robert Woods, 4th Round
VP
Oh, Vinny. A team that the league had little belief in knew he was a second-half team. Vinny was able to rattle off some big wins down the stretch but unfortunately, his team came up just short against Rob that would’ve helped propel him into the playoffs. Vinny found himself just outside the playoff race. Vinny won our trade and survived the Brees's absence but was not able to secure his spot in the playoffs. Best Pick: Austin Hooper, 9th Round Worst Pick: Antonio Brown, 2nd Round
Stick With Us PVO
Dylan’s team in an enigma. A team that started off hot at 3-1 quickly fell apart finishing the season 2-7 totaling 5-8. Like Vinny, Dylan needed just another win to secure his victory but fell just short. Dylan’s season hit a rough patch when the #1 overall pick and his star RB Saquon had some ankle troubles. Dylan couldn’t figure it out and, despite PVOs, found himself outside the playoffs once again. Best Pick: Russell Wilson, 12th Round Worst Pick: Saquon Barkley, 1st Round (the right pick, just bad luck)
The Perfect Ten
E found himself in a fight to avoid the Cabana Boy spot. His playoff chances were diminished as the season went on and found himself fighting to stay out of the bottom of the barrel. The two-time champ’s squad could never put it together. Ekeler played well despite Melvin coming back, Tyreek got hurt early but performed when he recovered, and Kyler provided a somewhat consistent starter at QB. His disappointment was clearly OBJ. E won when it mattered most and avoided a plummet like one of his fellow champs. Best Pick: Mark Ingram II, 3rd Round Worst Pick: OBJ, 2nd Round
Cabana Boy: Minmaxers
Well, look who we have here. Good ole Al Nesta did everything he could to avoid being Cabana Boy. When teams started to clinch their safety, it looked like Al being Cabana Boy was a guarantee. However, he continued to fight until the very end. Despite starting off 1-7, he was able to win 3 out of 4 but lost in the final week when it mattered most. Al will now take on the role of CB for the 2020 season. Best Pick: Frank Gore, 16th Round Worst Pick: Brandin Cooks, 4th Round (Cooper was there)
Final Payout:
Champion: Team Timshel, $261 2nd Place: Wilmore Cinderella, $69 Regular Season Winner: Debbie Rowe, $30
Jake, pay these fellas.
It was an honor to play alongside you fellas for our fourth season. Cheers to this year and to many more.
Your Beloved Commissioner,
Jared R. Mosqueda

A Hidden Honor: Thank You to Rebel Nation
2016 Ole Miss Rifle Photo by Joshua McCoy/Ole Miss Athletics Twitter: @OleMissPix
By Alison Wiesz, senior
During the first year of college almost every freshman wonders if they chose the right school, if they will be challenged as an individual or if their sport is allowing them to compete at the level they hoped it would. I won’t lie to you, I had a bit of that.
I had success before arriving at Ole Miss and I believe this caused me to question if I had gone to a different school, would it have made a difference in my shooting. But what it really came down to was maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn’t have. There is no way to really know, but I loved Ole Miss too much to let that thought last.
As I enter my final semester of shooting for my university, it has become more and more apparent to me that I could not have made it to this point alone. There are countless individuals who have helped shape not only the shooter, but the person I am today. As I sit here reflecting on the past three and a half years as a Rebel, it is clear that I have not taken the time to thank them like I want to.
Beginning with my roots, it is my parents who made my lifelong dream a reality. Thank you, mom and dad, for letting me go to a place I love 28 hours from home. I grew up 15 minutes from Montana State and I am mindful of how much easier attending that school would have been on my family; instead they allowed me to leave to chase a dream. Thank you, mom and dad for being so understanding with the decision that I made and loving me all the same.
To my baby sisters, Bailey (13) and Hannah (11), thank you for always being there, supporting me, loving what I do, and loving Ole Miss as much as I do. Thank you for maintaining a relationship regardless of the age difference and places we are in our lives. Knowing that they both look up to me keeps me constantly in check, and I am lucky to have them in my life. Thank you, Bailey and Hannah.
When it comes to my shooting, I could never pinpoint one specific person, but when I reflect back on how I am able to be in the position that I am in today, I think about my first step into a range and first shot taken. The man behind this is Chris Winstead. When you’re an eight-year-old kid it is rare that someone is so confident in your ability to not only perform at something, but to do it at the highest level. Chris did this for me. He nicknamed me “little Annie Oakley” and from then on we built a lifelong relationship around shooting. To date, I reach out to him after every match and no words will ever accurately express the amount of gratitude I have for him. Thank you, Chris.
As my collegiate career at Ole Miss began to develop it was Josie Nicholson, sports psychologist, and Drew Clinton, our academic counselor, who served as primary aids. Both of these individuals not only helped to enhance my shooting, but improved me as a person. I believe that I have always had high expectations surrounding me which caused me to only see my worth through shooting and what I could accomplish on the range. I am incredibly thankful for the guidance from both Josie and Drew who forced me to see that my value to this world is so much more than that. If I had a bad day at the range, it doesn’t mean I am a bad person or a crappy shooter; it is just a bad day. Thank you, Josie and Drew.
Rifle is such a mental sport. A lot of it comes down to your attitude and your mentality during the shot. While my mentality was strengthened from both Josie and Drew, it is also strengthened from the advantages the rifle community offers.
In rifle you can get coaching from anywhere, it may not necessarily be your coaching on the line. Whereas in a sport like football, a defensive coordinator is not necessarily going to go to a defensive player on another team and give them pointers, in rifle it does that a lot more. To this day I am thankful for the rifle community’s impact on my career. This approach allowed me to feel comfort and set my mind at ease. The community also brought along great friends. Mindy Miles, who shoots at Texas Christian University, became one of my closest friends when we shot in a summer marksmanship program together. Since, I have bought a gun from her and have had great success with it. I am eternally grateful that the rifle circle allows and welcomes this type of relationship.
Another big influence to this mindset is my new head coach Marsha Beasley. Unfortunately, I only had the pleasure of being her student-athlete for my senior year, but the depth of our relationship could not be measured by time. Marsha brought something I had never witnessed before: a strong desire to better the program and a work ethic that will allow her to do it. I know her love for the sport hit home to all involved and when I saw such a big heart wanting to do so much for my team, it made me feel valued. Thank you, Marsha.
In some ways—even more than my own graduation—the end to this time in my life represents a new beginning to the rifle program. It is an incredible honor to be a part of a program that is being built. Some people may view it as they don’t want to go to a specific school because they are not the top dog in the conference, but to be a part of a program that in the future everyone will want to go to is incredibly humbling. I will know that I was a part of that building process, because you need those people. This program is my hidden honor.
Thank you Rebel Nation for the tremendous support given to my team. We have fans that we see at almost every home match and that means more to me than you will ever know. You all have expected nothing but the best from not only my team, but me as the lone senior with a decorated background. The pressure from the Rebel fan base has pushed each and every athlete in a positive way.
While I embark on my final semester of shooting and beginning the journey of a master’s degree, I want to be remembered as someone who cared about the team and cared about the program enough to not only want to see herself succeed, but everyone else succeed too. I am not ready to be done; I don’t want to be. Even though I have contributed success, there is still a lot I want to do for this program. Rebel Nation is the reason behind this.
Thank you,
Alison Weisz
