What do you think the odds are that Mon3tr is one of the "demons" prowling the edge of the known world that we've heard about, which Kal'tsit has formed a symbiotic relationship with for Kal'tsit Reasons™? Is there any evidence to support this idea, or do we really just have absolutely no idea what it is? The only thing I can think of is that it would explain how it's able to go toe to toe with an Emperor's Blade, as well as maybe its nature as something that is "neither an Arts creation or a truly living organism." Neither of those are exactly concrete, but it's an idea that intrigues me nonetheless...

I have absolutely no idea what Mon3tr could possibly be.

I have my doubts it's a demon from the edge of the world, mostly because even if they aren't very well known (for everyone's safety), they are still a KNOWN quantity. Yan prepares for what it sees is an inevitable invasion. Ursus' laboratories experiment with melding demon-flesh to their Blades. The Kheshig people live on in legend as the Immortal Army that purged the demons from Sargon. etc.

But so far in Global, Mon3tr just seems to be Mon3tr. Nobody knows what that thing is and people on Rhodes Island just got used to the sight of their Head of Medical occasionally sprouting indestructible metallic arms and a gaping maw from her back. "Oh that's just Dr. Kal'tist's living spine, sometimes it comes out to help push equipment. We don't question it."

I was pretty confident there was a canonical time in Arknights that Skadi, exasperated with Specter's sense of humor, joked about asking Kal'tsit to pump more Originium into her spine to make her "nice and docile again". But I can't find it in the game.

I know for a fact that it didn't come from an Arknights fanfic on AO3, though it might have been a joke written by another Tumblr user.

Does it ring any bells?

I know it's not out of character for Skadi, whose initial reaction to Specter regaining her sanity in [Under Tides] was word-for-word:

"Ugh, I've almost forgotten she always used to be like this."

Like, Skadi has repeatedly shown she's not shy about showing vulnerable, tender affection for Specter, but Skadi is also an Abyssal Hunter. Specter and Gladiia aren't the only ones to use harsh, biting humor.

From what I can recall, that is not a canon scene in game at all, if memory doesn't fail me it should be a post from Tumblr. Because while their humor can be like that™, I don't think that's something she says in game. Specter barely talks to Kal'tist in UT and even less in SN, neither does she in her Operator Records. But don't hesitate to ask more people, I know I've seen it somewhere!

A writing exercise that I don't know if it'll be in the vampire Lumen AU, but I've been in a slump lately and need to cheer myself up.

Something was wrong with this Sankta.

It wasn't like with a fallen Sankta. Her halo was still bright, and she didn't have horns or a tail. But as Jordi watched the woman enter the observation room with new saline pouches, he couldn't help but think something was wrong. The woman hummed slightly to herself, something that didn't sound like a typical Sankta hymn, as she busied herself with changing Thorns's bag. Her face flinched slightly as he snapped at her, but the restraints kept his fangs from her.

And her hands remained steady.

When she came over to him, her face brightened at the lucid look on his face. "How are you feeling?" she asked as she started replacing the bag

"I'm... fine."

She smiled at him, gentle. "That's good. I'll let Kal'tist know you're awake. Do you need anything? You should be getting a blood transfusion -"

"You're not... something is different about you. Something..."

"Not Sankta?" Her smile fell slightly. "Most people don't pick up on that."

Jordi tried smiling, trying to reassure her, knowing it was thin and sickly. "Maybe it's because I'm... not really Ægir anymore?"

The woman paused, mouth slightly open in a half formed response, before she shrugged. "Maybe. What gave it away for you?"

"A feeling." That she... might understand? Was that it? "And you didn't look at us like we're monsters."

She shook her head, smiling to herself. "No, I could tell you're both just in pain and scared. I might not be able to feel your emotions, but I've had practice with figuring out non-Sankta in my travels."

"Is that why this is the first time I've seen you? I've seen everyone else in Medical."

She nodded. "I don't like staying in one place for long. Maybe it was because my mother kept me hidden until her death, or how Ezell took me everywhere after we left Laterano to find my father and I loved seeing new places, or the Sarkaz blood in me, but I don't like staying in one place. I stop by Rhodes Island sometimes and help out, but I'm not an operator like Ezell was." The woman patted his shoulder, heedless of the sudden bloodlust making his jaw hurt. "But you're not a monster. Nor is Thorns. So I'm not afraid."

Jordi swallowed, nodding. She wouldn't say that if she knew how much he wanted to drink her dry. "What's your name?" he finally managed.

"Cecelia Pastore."
