Fine Art Sessions Now Available!

What a lovely Monday!  I hope you enjoyed your Long Weekend, as much as I did!

I wanted to let you know that I have added a new section to my portfolio called “Fine Art”.  Let me tell you a bit about it…. 

Think of these sessions as Paintings.  I photograph you or your little one in my studio or outside.  These can be very dramatic looking sessions.  I am not specifically trying to capture every smile.  I am posing the client and really paying attention to my light source.  Every picture I take, I may slightly adjust my lighting or positioning of the subject.  During post production, I am literally painting the image with light and darkness.  When you gaze at the image, you are almost viewing a painting, rather than a photograph.  Every finished image is uniquely edited and will not be the exact same as any other.  The post production process is timely compared to other types of editing, as it truly is an artistic’s vision that is being created.

Now, let’s dive a bit more into Fine art photography.  The artist uses the camera as one more tool to create a work of art.   As I look through my camera, I see much more than what the camera sees.  It is merely a tool to create art.  The session itself is very important.  It captures the initial idea and then the editing process reveals my full vision.

Ansel Adams may have said it best when he said, “Art implies control of reality, for reality itself possesses no sense of the aesthetic. Photography becomes art when certain controls are applied.”

So, fine art photography is more about a photographer’s feelings and vision for a subject than the literal representation of that subject.  The conclusion is that intention plays the biggest part of what makes a photograph fine art.
