Note
are u still doing the ask game? can i ask for 19 or 20?
for you anon, of course! 20 is actually a really lame two-sentence note that isn't worth anyone's time, so I'll do 19!
19 is a really sad story tbh. I've always really liked the character Sedusa and it kills me that the writers never did more with her. I believe they said the reason why was because they couldn't think of many kid-friendly scenarios to put her in, which is fair lmao.
lol one of my notes for this outline is "this is my dark manifesto to [Sedusa] and it comes off like a bad CW remake," which was written way before the CW show announcement. so not to get a big ego about things, but I totally beat them to the punch. This fic is my only rated M fic (though arguably Acting Normal may also change into M just for its dark themes as well).
This story is adequately tilted "Sedusa" and it follows how a plain jane named Sara became one of Townsville's most notorious villains. The plot's below, though content warning, please don’t read if your triggered by abusive relationships, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault/harassment, or gore. The outline won't be detailed (and tbh the actual story won't be heavily detailed either) but i believe that everyone still deserves a fair warning :)
The outline doesn't do the plot justice, but it's all I got so hopefully people just Get It.
CHARACTER NOTES:
Canonically, I believe the Sedusa's character was supposed to represent envy and lust. So, one of the main themes I try to stick with when writing her character is the definition of envy, which is a "feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck."
PLOT:
Sara is a sweet and mousy little girl, who tries her best to stay invisible. She's rather plain-looking except for her really beautiful long dark hair. Originally, she's not from Townsville, but somewhere in the "country" where a person could be considered a bumpkin. Sara's a smart young girl, but her intelligence is rather unrefined. She spends most of her time obsessing over greek and Egyptian mythology.
She's from a rather big family, but she's the baby. Her father is abusive. Her mother is neglectful and Sara resents her mother for just standing by while abuse is occurring. To cope, Sara dreams of running away and falls deeper into her mythology obsession--specifically Medusa. Sara feels like Medusa would understand her.
At 16, she runs away to Townsville where she tries to be a hairdresser. With no money, she ends up in a really seedy part of town and the beauty parlor she works for ends up being a front for more illicit activities. She still does hair, but really makes her money as a call-girl of sorts. Just one of those girls who gives handjobs in the back to sad old men. It's easy money (I'm pro-sex work lol so I don't make this a big deal, but she's still a minor and it's wrong), but she's disgusted with herself (and men). At this time, she isn't very good at manipulating men--it's more like they have power over her and it reminds her of her father, only making her angrier and angrier.
It is also of note that while she's working at the Parlor, she encounters Sarah Bellum via tv (Ms. Bellum is just an intern with the Mayor at this point). She's instantly fascinated by this other Sarah and forms an odd (slightly toxic) parasocial relationship with her. Sara thinks it's amazing that Sarah went to school and is just so glamourous. Ms. Bellum is really everything Sara wants to be.
*time skip*
Sara falls in love with some jackass. Still slightly obsessed with Sarah Bellum. Still working at the parlor. Sara feels stagnant and worthless. Her jackass boyfriend and a few of his shitty friends end up attacking Sara and cutting off her hair (which was her prized possession). She gets away, but not totally unscathed.
In the process of running away, she bumps into a mysterious man who promises He can fix whatever is troubling her. The mysterious man manipulates an affirmative answer out of Sara and he "fixes" her problem. The man is HIM and he transforms her into the woman we all know as Sedusa (who goes by Ima when disguised).
“And what is it that you want?” HIM tsked, almost sounding bored.
She looked back at the mirror, at her broken reflection and lipstick smeared down her face. With a sore, croaking voice she sneered, “I want my fu-fucking hair back.”
Behind her, the entity smiled, Its facing splitting wide into two, “Oh, now that I can do.”
She watched through the shattered glass how It—HIM—snapped its odd monstrous claw. HIM’s smile grew more grotesque, as a thin bead of sweat began to break out on her forehead.
“This might hurt a little bit,” the entity giggled as she began to hyperventilate, “but what is that you little humans say?" HIM paused, watching her with a tilt of Its head as pain shot through her temples, "Oh, that’s right—”
She gasped and then screamed, dropping to her knees as she clutched at her head. Something wiggled underneath her scalp, pushing harder and harder to break against the resistance of her skin. It felt as if something was pressing against her brain, trying to carve away at her skull.
“—beauty is pain.” HIM growled, appearing next to her so Its voice—now low and baritone—was right in her ear, and It grasped her by the chin forcing her to watch the mirror as snake-like tendrils sprouted from her skull. She cried out at the sight and her body trembled with the pain.
One black, oily, twisted snake after another shot out of a bloody crater on her head. She tried her best through the pain to shake HIM off—to look away—but It held her still with a twisted laugh. She thrashed and howled in agony as the blood poured down her face in rivets. HIM didn't let go. Instead, HIM forced her still, grabbing her by the chin so she'd peer directly into the broken mirror.
Sara paled right before her very eyes, from a peachy skin tone to a white paste. She tried to blink away the tears that wouldn’t stop welling in her eyes—the green of them becoming more acidic with every passing second.
“The fun should be ending soon.” HIM giggled again, Its voice back to a soprano, but she was too forgone to hear him, as her eyes began to lull into the back of her head.
Eventually, when the transformation is complete, we see this:
Sara had stayed collapsed on her knees after HIM vanished into thin air. She stared with wide eyes as blood, sweat, and tears dripped onto and rolled off her thighs. She hardly paid attention to her surrounding, all she could do was listen. She listened to her hair. She listened to the constant moving, living, mass that slithered around her head, neck, and shoulders. The coils almost seemed to be cooing at her, comforting her through her pain, offering sweet apologies for what they had done. They promised her nothing bad would ever happen again. They were a dangerous shield forged from her own body to protect her.
Her body. A vessel for this odd new life.
“Heh.” A deranged giggle escaped her mouth, “Heh. Heh ha—hahaha!” She laughed until her throat burned and tightened, her tears finally drying.
It was instantaneous. It was powerful. Sara had never known love before, but she loved them. She loved every single one of them.
And here she had thought she'd never be a mother.
Sara becomes Sedusa--taking inspiration from Medusa, her childhood fascination. She wonders if HIM knew, but she wouldn't bother asking. She feels sexy, powerful, and unstoppable. Her hair has instilled a new confidence in her and she's finally able to stand up for herself. Soon, she realizes that she's an "exotic" beauty and has men eating out of her hand. She isn't someone who kills, but if she gets bored (or feels threaten) she will.
Things are going good until the PowerPuff Girls are finally created. When she sees them for the first time, she pities them, especially when they're run out of town. She relates to them for not being loved little girls, but is completely shocked when she finds out they've won the town over. This shock turns into resentment and she decides she'll get even with the girls
Then, cue canon. Sedusa seduces the Professor. We see what happens in that episode plus a little more. Sedusa takes out a lot of her repressed childhood trauma on the girls and is plain awful to them. By the time her stint with the Professor is over, she hates them all.
Then, there's the episode with Bellum. Bellum becomes the Athena to Sedusa's medusa. Bellum is still this elevated person in Sedusa's mind, and it only makes sense to Sedusa that she should become Bellum. To become Bellum, Sedusa seduces Bellum and they end up having a brief relationship. (Sedusa pretends to be an intern at City Hall and the two ladies bond over having the same first name). Eventually, Sedusa reveals her plot and the canon events happen. (Bellum is heartbroken over Sedusa).
I'd like to emphasize that Sedusa's relationship with Bellum almost turns her "good," but her hair coils (HIM's curse) prevents her from taking those steps. Her coils prevent close loving relationships--since they're supposed to be shield that keeps people out, preventing any chance that Sedusa's heart may be broken again. [coils represent her inability to heal from the past]
Then we run through a quick montage of her other appearances.
[throughout all of this, I would write how her hair coils are making her more and more insane]
*time skip to after the events of the og show*
This is where my plot can go anywhere. I think Sedusa becomes sloppy, maybe kills a politican. She's spirialing out of control and mad that she can't find any real happiness in her life. I think it'd be interesting to show her interacting with the rrb, not necessarily to show their relationship, but to show how Sedusa would be infuriated that HIM had sons, especially sons who hurt girls for fun ( i.e. the ppg) (a real 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' moment for her). She's also infuriated at HIM for turning her into a monster, so being mad about his "sons" is just an excuse to get even with the entity.
To hurt HIM, she decides to hurt the boys, but the girls interfere. They won't let innocent live be taken, no matter the person's moral alignment. This infuriates Sedusa even more than HIM ever could. Because again, despite all the shitty things that have happened to the Girls, they are still good as opposed to Sedusa, who ended up bad. She doesn't understand why she had to end up the way she did.
However, the girls aren't the people who finally "defeat" Sedusa. Instead, that honor is left to Ms. Bellum (Sedusa's "Athena"), who Sedusa still very much loves in her own sick twisted way. Paralleling the Sedusa/Bellum episode in the og show, the girls (while protecting the boys) are almost defeated by Sedusa until Bellum intervenes. It's revealed that Bellum had a shitty childhood too (again enforcing the parallels/differences between the two women) and believes that it's not too late for Sedusa to change her ways (it’s a real “I’m rotten work” “no it isn’t. Not if it’s you” moment) In a moment of mental clarity, where the coils (and by extension HIM) cannot affect her judgement, Sedusa releases the boys and the girls. Sedusa doesn't stay though, like Bellum pleads, she gets scared and runs away. (but does tell Bellum she’d always love her, whatever that’s good for)
[also I decide bellum to defeat sedusa to show that the girls are still to young and that adults should be the ones dealing with other adults] [and bellum has a good track record of doing just that]
Idk if she'd be gone forever, but it's implied that she hasn't been seen in Townsville for a long time. What she gets up to is left ambiguous. She can't be good because of her hair coils, but she doesn't want to be bad. idk I don't want it to have a sad ending, but I don't think it can really be happy.
-----
I try hard to play with the concept of beauty, womanhood, purity, love and how negative/positive responses to trauma affect these concepts. Idk it's really rough and needs to be thought out more, especially the end, but I think Sedusa deserves her own story.

Triggers: mild blood, minor character death
I hope you enjoy because i really like this :)
----
She could recall the first time she had used her powers for evil. It was a whirlwind of emotion as the bodies fell to the ground one after the other. The people she vowed to save now were at their knees begging for mercy before she turned the other cheek and walked away. The vision of perfection was no more.
It was devastating to feel that crack. Her heart slowly turned black until it became locked up against her will. There was no turning back now. She once scoffed at the saying "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Now it was a cruel future.
Instead of leaving the place she once called home, she stayed and lived above it all. Her powers were now her protection as death threats and missiles were sent her way each day. She ignored them of course. She took a book out of Princess and had others do her bidding, but her hands had seen blood many times.
It was too late now.
The falling of Townsville wasn’t something anyone had ever thought would happen. Not when the three supers lived within the city limits. As they grew up, the city had stayed protected no matter how many robbers, villains or monsters threatened their home, they always saved the day.
And then it happened. Something unexplained had taken over the city like a thick fog. The girls did their best to try and stop it but something had changed the minds and the hearts of the people.
When the world goes to shit, you have two choices. Save the world and fight for what is right or watch it burn slowly and take what you can. Rebuild the empire to your liking and every negative thing about humans will be revealed.
Humans are selfish, even the purest ones have corrupt thoughts. As the world is on its deathbed, true colors show. He had known it all too well and yet he was one of the dumbest people for thinking he could change it back. Restore good and evil, even though he was brought up with the lather.
Corruption and destruction were his game while being a hero was hers. It was plain and simple. He was bad and she was good. Or so that was how the story was told. Maybe the story had lost its way a long time ago. Nothing was ever that black and white.
--
Then the world had lost its mind and he was now bound to a chair with chains biting into his skin and the once notorious sweetheart was standing there with a blade and enough ammo to kill half the city. Sometimes he didn’t want to believe it. That she had lost the hero's glow and fell into the darkness he knew personally.
Why should he fix this mess when the world has shunned him? It was the same question she had asked herself long ago.
He sat watching her. His voice was muffled by a shitty cloth rag that he could easily spit out whenever, but he would play her game. His fingers tapping on the armrest as he twitched in his seat, he was never good at staying still for long.
The first time he had met her was back when they were kids. She was bright eyed and witty. A leader for those who needed one and had a killer punch. Although they weren’t pair counterparts, they had more in common than not. He found himself near her more often as the years passed.
Now she just had a killer punch.
He had been watching her for quite some time now. Usually people in his position would be dead but he wasn't like them. He was better. He understood her even with that mask on. He might have special powers with shield but she somehow had one he could barely break.
She was staring out of the giant windows of her private office. The sunset sat on the horizon and if the city wasn’t in complete chaos then he would have thought it was beautiful. It was a massive space overlooking the city. He knew this place quite well but it felt foreign and lost as if it was a memory he tried to remember but never had.
Her grip on the knife tightened as she turned and walked up towards him. Her eyes raking over him as if she were examining her prey like a vulture. She was the embodiment of everything good in this world even if she was wearing all black and hadn’t smiled in years. He couldn’t blame her but he missed the way the corners of her eyes would crinkle when she laughed and the blush that tinted her cheeks. If he could go back in time for one more moment of that, he would in a heartbeat.
He gave her a raise of his eyebrows and she scoffed. It was too quiet for his liking so he shuffled the cloth out of his mouth.
“Blossom.” he spoke and she shivered as if no one had said her name in years, and maybe they didn’t.
She wasn’t the Blossom who was a golden child and adored by the world anymore. In fact her name sent fear through the bodies of those who dared to utter it. Instead of everything nice, she was just a black hole that sucked out the life of everything around her.
“Butch.” She replied and he didn’t think hearing his name come from her would hurt so much.
“Let me go.” He stated as if she would. They both knew he could break out of them. They weren’t stupid but maybe playing to the worlds cruel game was all they had left.
-
Most people couldn’t say they saw the hero fall. Dying a hero was something her sisters had the pleasure of receiving and yet their sister was now the queen jewel of the evil capital.
The day he held her at the funeral. She had to watch the blood pool around her sister's lifeless bodies and there was nothing she could do. She had saved the city countless times and the minute that it went up in flames, her sisters lives were target practice and those who cheered them on had now put the stake through them.
The horror of seeing her sister smile as she died in her arms haunted her. She wondered why she was the only one to survive.
“You’ll save the day, you always do.” Bubbles had said happily as if she wasn’t bleeding out of her stomach.
Next to Buttercup choked on bile as she used her last strength to smile and brush the matted hair out of her sister's face. “You’re a leader Blossom, always were. Always will be.”
Sometimes if she was alone with her thoughts for too much time she could hear her sister's laughter and the snarky comment of the other one. She could see them flying around, playing tag and just having childish fun.
But it was all gone now.
-
Behind her on the desk was Octi. The infamous plush of the youngest sister. Blossom wanted to blast it to shreds and never see it again but he had convinced her to keep it. He stared at it then back to her. He wondered if she ever held it close to her chest and allowed herself to grieve, probably not but it was worth the thought.
He had been captured by her countless times. It was on purpose too. He broke in, stole something  and hoped that she would be there ready to add another scar and they would fight, and then he would be thrown out. He would come back again and again just to see her.
He hadn’t seen her in months now. After a while, only her goons paid him a visit and he would just drop the item and walk away. There was no point if she wasn’t there.
And now he was in the position he needed. She was right there for the taking and he desperately wanted to hold her again, just like he did before all this shit happened.
He moved in his chair, the chains rattling and getting her attention. He didn’t want to play anymore and decided to send a green spark on one of them but her hand came down on his wrist snuffing out the light.
Her face was inches from his as her cold stare pierced his soul. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips were set in a thin line as if she was challenging him, daring him to break away. He loved her eyes. They once glowed with a vibrant pink that he could only describe as breathtaking. They gave her away every time but now they had turned to a frozen stone and it was harder to see what she was thinking.
“So you’re finally gonna kill me then?” He asked, his voice calm and collected as she continued to glare. The blade of the knife was held at his neck and he thought about moving forward to see what she would do.
“It would be easier that way.” She stated and that stung even when it shouldn’t have.
His eye twitched and his foot moved quickly to tug at her ankle causing her to move forward and her chest touched his. She had moved the knife away quickly. Now it was held above his head and he smirked before quickly hiding it. It was nice to know she didn’t want to plunge the knife into him.
“I always liked you better pressed against me babe.” His foot not letting up as the other one trapped her in. Her other hand was now gripping his forearm and he lowered his eyes. He wanted to know that the Blossom he once cared about deeply was still there. No matter how many shields she had up, he was good at destroying things.
She was silent and he waited. Her silence was something you couldn’t mess with. Those gears in her head were turning and the smallest shift in her eyes had given her away. He knew she wouldn’t kill him. She couldn’t. Whether she liked it or not, he was the only thing she had left and even if it was a petty thing, she knew better than to throw it away.
“Let go of me.” She hissed through gritted teeth and his feet only dug deeper into her ankles.
He smirked. “I’m the one tied up babe.” She used her free hand to slap him across the face and yet he felt nothing. He had made himself numb to the cruel world, the only thorn in his side was her and even that was barely scratching the surface.
But he hated that. He desperately craved for the pain even if that's all it was. Pain. A pitiful idea. He once lived for the thrill of the chase. The waiting of a battle as he was some cheeky teen stealing things just so that some girl would notice. The truth was his heart had been through so much heartbreak that it never went away and he was just tired.
He picked his head up from the blow and she was breathing heavily. Her knife was lowered and was resting in her hand. He shot her a toothy grin which made her bristle. “Mm playing rough today?”
Her face flushed red as she pursed her lips together and bit back a snarl. “Stop talking.”
There was something about pushing his luck that he thoroughly enjoyed. “Don’t be shy.” He snickered as he tilted his head up with a cocked eyebrow. “You can’t hide.”
“You really wanna be saying that shit while I'm holding this.” She waved the knife in his face and he rolled his eyes.
“Tell you what babe.” She frowned deeper. “You can kill me, go ahead. This world should have been destroyed ages ago but-”
“But what?” She rested herself in his lap.
Butch let out a deep laugh as he smiled. “You have to kiss me.”
Her face turned towards the window and he saw that she still wore the earrings he gave her years ago. He bucked his knee up grabbing her attention back.
“Just one peck and then bam, you’re done.” He said smoothly as he eyed the knife.
“Why?”
“You were the smart one for a reason, figure it out toots.”
Blossom watched him closely and she knew what he was doing. No. It wasn’t fair and she wouldn’t give herself that kind of relief. Years ago maybe, but not anymore. She didn’t deserve happiness.
She pushed off of him with a great force, breaking free from his feet before ripping the chains off of him with a powerful blast and stomping towards the windows. Her blood red heels echoing on the marble floor as her hips swayed.
“Leave.” She spat and he rubbed his wrists where the chains had been. “Just leave.” Her voice gave out at the end as her head hung low.
His eyes went to the door. He should have turned around and left. He should have just ran and went back to drinking and drugs and drowning back into the darkness, it would have been easier that way. But his mind ignored all that. He had waited too damn long to be in her presence again and he was a selfish asshole.
-
He saw her fall off the deep end as the world turned its back on the shining light. They snuffed her goodness and took whatever innocence she had remaining and left her high and dry. She had pushed him away and lifted up the walls, she said it was to protect him. It never was. It was a cruel lie to justify how she felt. He understood completely because that's what he had been doing since he was a child.
The pain of losing the closest people to you was something they shared. His brothers fell to the same fate as her sisters and instead of suffering together, they had distanced.
-
Her back was towards him and he took the time to look her over. He found it adorable how she still wore her bow in her hair, maybe it was to keep her sanity and pretend like it didn’t mean anything. She stood tall and proud back in the days and she was right now but it was different, she was different and he knew that.
Her hair was long and pulled back into the tight ponytail she always wore. He knew deep down she wanted to run to him. Forget back the past and go back to the days where they could be themselves. Even with the unforgiving circumstances, he thought she looked as radiant as ever.
He stood behind her before reaching for her hand. It had been almost a year or two since he had touched her skin. She could easily turn around and slice him with the knife, end him right then and there. The voices in his head had silenced as the tips of his fingers touched the slight curl of her palm and he felt the spark that he longed for. It was small but he had felt it, he prayed she did too.
He closed his eyes as he took another step forward and when she didn’t pull back and retreat, he held her hand. The once warm skin was ice cold and he didn’t know if he wanted to cry from how much she was suffering and he was once too blind to see it. It was crystal clear now.
He waited until his eyes watered as he felt her fingers curl around his. The breath he was holding was let out and he blinked rapidly to make the tears fade away. He felt how her hand tighten around his and her body shook slightly as if the wall she had put up now had a raging storm pounding against it like a dam on the verge of breaking.
He pulled her until she was flushed with him. He raised her other hand and placed the knife against his neck.
“It’s okay.” He whispered. “If it will bring you peace-” His words were silenced as the knife fell with a harsh clank and tumbled around until the ringing stopped.
She looked at her hands with a fear she had only felt a few times before. Her shoulders went slack as he wrapped his arms around her and held her close.
“They hated us.” She cried into his chest. “W-we saved them and yet-” She could bring herself to say it. He wasn’t sure if she ever said that they had died. It would mean that it was true, despite it being years. “H-how...how could they do that to us?”
He didn’t say anything but only clutched her harder. “They destroyed me.” Her head picked up as she looked at him.
Eyes wide and puffy as she looked at him as her lips quivered in disbelief. She reached for his cheek where the indent of a healed scar was. She had been the cause of it but it faded over time and she traced her finger over it, whispering to herself.
“And I destroyed you.” The heartbreak in her voice was unbreakable as he let the tears fall. He shook his head.
“No, you-”
She nodded and pushed away the excuses. “I did.” Her eyes were searching around his face wondering how much damage she had caused him. “You were my light and I did the same thing to you as they did to me.”
Her breath caught in her throat as his lips pressed against her cheek carefully. It was soft in such a way that if she were a porcelain doll on the verge of shattering.
“What they did to you is unforgivable but I don’t blame you, Blossom. I could never blame you.” He was honest. She might have pushed him away and even fought him but she was still the one who had held him when he cried and kissed his pain away. “Please baby-I. Please.”
There was a heavy silence weighing over them. His eyes were glued to her and he would be a fool to turn and leave now. Not again. They say the end of the world brings out the worst and two broken people who had seen their loved ones suffer and end tragically only meant for a catastrophe. Instead of a violent fight of shouting and guns a blazing, their weapons were tossed aside and the dam had broken as she stared at him.
The golden sunset was ready to fade into a new inky night as he told her he wasn’t leaving again as his lips brushed against hers. Never touching fully.
“I don’t deserve to have you, not anymore.”
“You don’t have a choice.” He stated and held her as she tried to pull away. “But.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out the gun with the bullet that could penetrate through their superhuman forms. “You can tell me to leave and I won’t come back again.”
She was once a little girl who called for her to save the day. A teen that people worship and even a woman that they feared. She had done it all. Phases come and go but the only thing that didn’t change was her heart towards him. She would be lying if she said she had forgotten all the times they shared. Forgotten about how they would sneak away during school and have their way with each other as she giggled endlessly. Forgotten when he told her he loved her the first time on the rooftop.
She was a fool for thinking she would throw it all away. The world had made a mockery of her when she turned towards the darkness for revenge and yet the thing that she could have done, could have, was right in front of her for the taking.
“Or. You can have me for the rest of time and the world can go to hell.”
The gun was held out to her. An offering that would either would vaporize any hope she had left, or could leave her feeling something more than just a hollow shell of a person.
She took the gun from him and for an instant she thought about holding it against herself. In that moment, the pain could end. She could easily forget about it all and fade away into the abyss. Her mind traveled to that dark place until the memory of her sister’s bright smile came into view.
“Blossom you deserve happiness and I think he’s the one for you.”
“I can second that.”
Her eyes looked into his and she saw a gleam of hope. The moment after she had lost her sisters was spent with her heart suffering and yet he wanted to be by her side through it all. He could have cast away those feelings and left time and time again but he was here.
The metal burned her skin as she held it, fingertip on the trigger but all her attention belonged to him. Her fingers twitched and shook as she asked him the question that weighed on her mind.
“Could you ever learn to love me again?” Her voice meek with a slight whimper.
Butch brought his lips to hers, touching them soft as a feather. “I never forgot.” And kissed her as if it was the last thing he would ever do.
Those flashbacks of them together before the decay of what they had known came back in a rush and she wondered how she ever let them go. His hand wrapped around her waist and he felt the upward curl of her lips against his as her arms came around his neck. Her body molded to his as she held him tight, afraid that when he pulled away, he would be gone again.
When the world goes to shit, you have two choices. Burn down with it or rise above and see the new horizon.
And when he looked back at her with a smile that felt rusted and worn, her eyes had held a spark that became reignited. Like a flower blooming after a harsh winter, the life from deep within herself began to resurface.
“I have always loved you, even in the darkness.” He spoke and he was blinded by the small smile on her lips.
“And I love you.”
Those tears on her face held years of misery but it was leaving her mind as she stared at him. The vibrant pink against an electric green. She felt those chains around her heart break off as the warmth came in.
“So what do you say?” He asked as he kissed her cheek.
“Let the world go to hell.” She whispered before crashing her lips against him and as if she was desperate to quiche her thirst.
She smiled against his lips as he let out a growl. Blossom pointed the gun towards the window and fired. The glass raining down over the city as the light from the horizon seeped in.
The idea of good and evil was long on when the city’s morals became corrupted. All that was left were two people who knew better than to become incinerated.

i hope you liked it!

(HFW: Fusionfall x Reader) (Chapter 3) (Part 2)
(Y/n) gasped and jumped out of the window, summoning her. She didn’t know much about Foster’s Home, but what she did know was that there were a ton of innocent creatures inside. As she sped down to the large house, she already spotted three people on the lawn staring up at the falling building. One was a tall redheaded girl, the other was a short brown-haired boy, and the last was a short blue creature.
The angel turned around and landed onto the ground, feeling dirt pile up behind her heels. She looked up and saw the building almost right on top of them. (Y/n) raised her hands, and (f/c) beams shot out of her hands. The beams formed an enormous forcefield around Foster’s Home.
    CRASH!
The four of them had their eyes squeezed shut when the impact happened. After it was over, they opened their eyes to see thousands of gravel and glass around, but the forcefield was undamaged.
“Is everyone okay?” (Y/n) asked, seeing every other imaginary friend peeking out of the window.
“Uh, yeah! Thanks!” the red-haired woman said.
(Y/n) nodded and sprung from the ground, letting her wings carry her into the chaotic sky. “WHEN YOU GET BACK, CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH?!” a voice shouted from below. She giggled to herself and forced a serious expression.
Astaroth was floating in the sky. “Where are you, child?!” he yelled, balling his fists. (Y/n) sped towards him and punched him right in the face. Astaroth was knocked out of the sky, but only for a moment. He shook his head and darted into her, knocking her through the clouds. She yelled in pain and pushed herself down, barely avoiding a lightning strike. ‘Hold on, I don’t need to avoid them,’ (Y/n) thought.
Astaroth flew right in front of her, bringing his weapon down on her. (Y/n) quickly dodged but felt a sting on her forehead. Astaroth smirked and flew right towards her, swinging his spiked ball. (Y/n) kept moving out of the way from the weapon, but noticed that he was making tiny cuts all over her body. She couldn’t wait any longer, she had to do it now.
(Y/n) thrusted herself far from Astaroth and raised her hands. Lighting fell right into her hands and swirled around her body. This time, she didn’t feel any pain. Astaroth stared at her, astounded, but then snapped out of his trance and flew close to her. In a flash, she brought her hands down on his skin, and Astaroth screamed in pain as lightning shot into him. At once, he was shot away from her and fell to the ground, making a hole in the ground. With their cruel master defeated, the clouds went back to their white color, and the day was only cloudy again.
(Y/n) gently floated onto the ground beside the unconscious Astaroth. She kneeled next to him and put her hand on the black gem. “In the name of (L/n), I banish thee back to the underworld,” she whispered. The gem cracked, then shattered beneath her hand, and Astaroth’s body sank into the ground. All that was left of him were the pieces of his power source. ‘Jeez, how much power did my family take away from them? This is the third time this month.’
“Oh my gosh, it’s her!” a voice squealed from behind her. (Y/n) turned around to see the boy and the blue creature from earlier running to her. A crowd of people began following behind him. “(Y/n)! Can I have your autograph? Please?!” the blue one pleaded, holding up a piece of paper.
(Y/n) turned to them and stuffed the broken crystal into her pocket. She smiled as the two boys from earlier ran up to her. "Sure! What’re your names, guys?”
“Mac!” the brown-haired boy answered with excitement.
“Bloo!” the blue creature answered at the same time.
“Mac and Bloo...I think I’ve heard of you guys,” (Y/n) assumed. “Uh, do you guys have a pen I can borrow.”
“Yeah, I have one in my bag!” Mac claimed, then swung his backpack off of his shoulder and rummaged through it.
“Ms. (L/n)?” (Y/n) looked up from the two boys and noticed the huge crowd around her. She turned around to find the owner of the voice and saw a giant rabbit in a suit and monocle hopping towards her with the mayor of Townsville beside him.
“Even though half of the city is in complete destruction, we are tremendously thankful that you saved us from that terrible villain,” the mayor said.
(Y/n) smiled. “Of course. Is everyone okay?” she asked, observing the crowd for any serious wounds.
The mayor’s smile faltered a little. “Yes, there were some injuries, but none of them were life-threatening, thankfully.”
“Then I’ll need some help rounding up those who were injured.”
“And we’ll help you,” another voice said. (Y/n) looked to her left and saw the Powerpuff Girls floating towards her. Buttercup had her arms crossed and refused to make eye contact with her.
(Y/n) fought back the urge to snicker. ‘She’s mad that she didn’t take care of the problem, huh?’ She nodded at Blossom, who smiled and did the same.
“Wait! I’m gonna help too!” someone yelled, and she knew exactly who it was. Ben ran out of the crowd and breathed heavily while resting on his knees. “Uh, I’m here! Sorry I’m late!” he breathed, then glanced at (Y/n) and grinned. “Nice job, (Y/n).”
    “Thanks. Is Dexter okay?”
Ben raised up. “Yeah, Tech Square wasn’t affected by the storm. And he said he’ll be here shortly.”
“Ms. (L/n)?” (Y/n) turned to the giant rabbit. “I am Mr. Herriman, head of Foster’s Home. On behalf of Foster’s, we thank you for saving us. We are forever in your debt, but will certainly be calling you for any emergencies from now on. I expect you to be there right on time.”
She flinched and heard a distant scoff in the background. “Oh, um, okay!” she said.
“Excuse me, Ms.?” (Y/n) turned back around to see Mac holding up a pen. “Oh, you can just call me (Y/n), Mac!” she said, gently taking the pen from him and writing on the piece of paper. Mac blushed and replied with a shy  “O-Okay.”
“OhmygoshIcan’tbelieveI’mactuallymeetingherinreallife!” Bloo exclaimed quickly, shaking Mac.
A thought abruptly interrupted her writing. “Hey, weren’t you the guys that took down some giant robot?” (Y/n) asked.
    “Oh, uh, yeah!” Mac responded.
“Wow! You guys are pretty cool!” Mac blushed, and Bloo fainted. (Y/n) finished up the note and gave it back to Mac. “Thanks! I’m a big fan!” Mac declared.
“Considering what you guys did, I should be a fan of you too,” (Y/n) stated. Mac fell silent as she turned back to the crowd, ready to heal the city and avoid doing homework.
After the battle, (Y/n) visited Foster’s Home every so often. She loved every creature there (though had mixed feelings about Duchess, the more dramatic and egotistical one of the bunch), and was glad to spend time with them. Soon enough, (Y/n) formed relationships with Frankie, Mac, and Mac’s imaginary friend, Bloo. Frankie and (Y/n) formed a pretty close bond, while she and Mac were practically siblings. Mac became the little brother she never had. Bloo, on the other hand, quickly treated her like he treated everyone else: chill with a hint of sarcasm and was only really nice if he needed something from them. But (Y/n) didn’t mind. Bloo was her friend nonetheless.
“...(Y/n)? (Y/n)!” (Y/n) gasped and shook her head, and took notice of everyone in the room giving her confused gazes. She looked at every imaginary friend; they all looked as healthy as ever.
“Are you alright? You’ve been staring into space for about ten minutes,” Bloo commented with his eyebrow raised.
“Sorry, guys, I just spaced out for a moment,” said (Y/n). Bloo murmured a “Yeah, no duh,” and Frankie glared at him. “Did I heal you guys properly? How are you feeling?” she asked.
“Sí, we are muy bueno, señorita (Y/n)!” Eduardo said, raising his giant purple arms. “Coco coco!” Coco said, her plant-shaped green hair ruffling as she did.
(Y/n) took another deep breath and gave them a confident look. “Alright, we’re gonna go check the others. Let me know if you guys aren’t feeling too well again.”
    “Okay, (Y/n), thanks!”
    “Yeah, whatever. Thanks.”
    “Gracias!”
    “Coco!”
(Y/n) waved goodbye at the imaginary friends and followed Frankie to the next room. ‘And I’m gonna get to the bottom of this,’ (Y/n) thought.
~
“I think that’s the last of them, (Y/n)!” Frankie claimed. (Y/n) smiled down at her work; a lot of the imaginary friends were up and walking around the building again like nothing ever happened. Even Mr. Herriman apologized after he was healed, which greatly surprised Frankie.
She and (Y/n) were leaning on the balcony railing, watching as the imaginary friends went about their day. “Hey, thanks for this. I was getting pretty worried about these guys,” Frankie explained.
“Just doing my job!” (Y/n) said, beaming. Her confidence was back and she felt that she was on top of the world. “I’m just glad they’re feeling better. I hope this doesn’t happen again.”
“Yeah, I was wondering how they came down with an illness all of a sudden. They were feeling just fine a few days ago, but the other day, they just collapsed.”
(Y/n) furrowed her eyebrows, remembering the strange green dot in the sky. “But it’s fine, since you’re here. Hey, maybe while we’re at it, we can get some food or something! It’s almost three o’clock anyway, and I just realized I missed lunch, so…”
“I think I know what it is.” Frankie turned to her, expecting her to elaborate. (Y/n) stood and gave her an intense look. “Thanks for all your help Frankie, but I’m gonna head out. There’s something I need to do.”
Frankie blinked and rose from the railing. “Uh, yeah, I get it. But before you do, I, uh…” (Y/n) gazed at her, waiting for a response as she tugged on the collar of her shirt. “I just wanted to say that we should hang out more.”
(Y/n) relaxed her shoulders and grinned. “Yeah, we should.” Frankie’s face lit up, and she waved goodbye as the powerful teen raced down the stairs and burst through the door.
(Y/n) ran outside until she was on the walkway of Foster’s Home. She looked up and scanned the sky until she spotted a slightly bigger green dot, then balled her hands into fists. Her necklace glowed, and an (f/c) light overtook her body once again. A phoenix flew out of the light, and she soared into the sky. ‘I know this has something to do with you.’
The city below her became smaller and smaller. The air had become thinner when she zoomed past the clouds. Yet, (Y/n) made her body be engulfed with (f/c) flames, and she moved even quicker than before.
She kept pushing herself further to pass the atmosphere, and the sky above became darker with every second going by. The gems engraved in her chest glowed once more, and she was overtaken by the bright light.
An alien with rubbery (f/c) skin flew out of the light with the transparent wings on her back. (Y/n) opened her four eyes and ignored the heat as she tried to break out of the atmosphere. ‘With this form, I should be fine in space,’ she thought, stretching her four arms.
However, before she could see one star, the gems that were lined up vertically on her chest started to flash. (Y/n) peered down and saw that the gems were desperately trying to keep the (f/c) light on, but soon turned to gray. She was suddenly back in her human form and found herself screaming as she plummeted back down to Earth.

Fire
“Those who play with fire should expect to be consumed by it, but should hope for escape.”
Buttercup had barely kissed the ground when a guy stepped up from the shadows to greet her. She resisted the urge to smile as he pulled her into a tight embrace instead pushing him off and ruffling her hand through his brunette mop that he insisted on growing out.
"Popeye," Her lips quirked up into a ghost of a smirk. "Always a pleasure."
"Thorn," he responded in kind. "Always painfully out of reach."
She clucked her tongue pityingly, "Tsk, Mitchelson. I thought you loved a little pain with your pleasure."
Buttercup didn't wait for his reply, instead opting to help herself. She punched in the code without even looking and let herself into his garage.
"No guy likes that much pain, babe." She told her eyes, already knowing where this was headed. "Y'know 'cept maybe–"
"Finish that sentence and I promise you'll be in so much pain you may never feel pleasure again." She warned, aiming a wrench straight for his junk.
He just laughed like the sailor he got his nickname from and started to help her dig through his tools. Tonight would be the night Mitch won for a change.
It went without saying that when Buttercup first fell in with this crowd she felt more at home than she'd ever been. Popular as she was she didn't care to hang out with people from her school outside of school.
Those guys' idea of fun was parties and gossip, and where an underage drink or a badly rolled joint was enough to get their hearts racing.
That was all well and good y'know because to each their own, right? But Buttercup had superpowers, it took way more than that to get her blood pumping.
She liked being on the school teams—during which they had her wear a special bracelet that neutralized her powers, which was fair. And she loved fighting monsters and criminals, except fighting those guys couldn't be her only source of real fun—that wasn't fair.
So imagine her surprise, or lack of it or whatever, when she runs into none other than the Rowdyruff's during a routine sweep of Townsville and finds out what they've been up to.
It all threw her for a loop at first, that these guys couldn't give less of a damn about who she was other than her police connections. Despite all this, by the time her initiation process was over she had grown pretty close with them.
The boys had by no means cleaned up their act. The crimes that they committed weren't much of a public endangerment. She didn't care what the Ruff's or the other guys did crime-wise as long at it was one of those lesser evil crimes.
Like when Butch killed someone (brutally because he was quite possibly incapable of anything less) it didn't matter because the guys he bothered killing were murderers and rapists.
Or when Boomer stole shit, why should she care that he stole parts off of a stolen bike? And she could hardly bust Brick for assault from a fight club she was part of.
She was practically one of them, they just had different day jobs. Buttercup was a superheroine and they were criminals. Tomato potato.
"Ace and the gang still at the shop?" she inquired, wiping her hands off on a random rag.
"Yeah, you should stop by. They tricked it out to look all professional and shit."
"That can't've been too hard considering what it looked like the last time I was there." Buttercup rolled her eyes.
Just walking through the door made her feel like she needed a bath, lest she catch hepatitis's A through E. It was anything but professional.
Even so, she'd gone there for her piercings, all seven of them. Though she did make sure to buy all her own tools and jewelry.
The gangrene gang was less of a gang now that they were in their mid-20s, less evil more fucking about. Their main haunt was the tattoo parlor Ace won in an all-or-nothing fight.
The guy he won it off of was huge and didn't take into account that the green skinned asshole used to face up with superheroes.
While they worked on Mitch's motorbike she let her mind drift back to her sisters. They were almost certainly still at the party pretending they weren't bored to tears.
Blossom and Bubbles weren't quite the adrenaline junkies their green-eyed sister tended to be, still, they felt their classmates had other drawbacks.
All they ever asked Blossom about was leader stuff or how smart she was and they went to Bubbles for smiley face stickers and kept dumping all their problems on her like it was her job to give them a pick me up.
Bubbles was definitely more comfortable with her assumed role among the three of them, only the idolization seemed to bother her. It was almost as if the girls' word meant more than their own personal opinions.
She always felt a little guilty when she ditched them for her friends although they had each other so that did make her feel a little better.
Maybe one of these days I'll bring them along. Buttercup mused before a terrible shudder went through her. No, she'd be an outcast. Everyone would think she narc'ed and her sisters would probably be uncomfortable.
"Alright, I think I'm ready to go for tonight!" Mitch declared proudly tossing his tools to the side. "You going domestic tonight?"
"I might hop on if Baron or Duke ride. I'm more in the mood for a good old-fashioned leg race." She shrugged unsurely.
"With your Ruff of choice of course," He snickered. "we both know who that'll be."
She didn't even bother telling him to shut the hell up. Everyone knew no one normal bothered taking up against her. She always ended up battling the Ruffs and when she got her pick of which one to go against she almost always chose the same one.
Mitch mounted his bike and Buttercup led the way in the sky towards the main warehouse. They were late, evidenced by the girls lined up at one end watching Jet spinning around in the pit.
Buttercup slapped hands with all the guys, who were already two deep apparently, and nodded in the girls' direction, with most of them waving back.
A patent smirk found its way to her face as she stuffed her hands in her leather jacket that Kim, Mitch's girl, had just brought out to her. He hooked his arm around Kim's shoulders and planted a kiss on her head prior to shrugging on his own jacket.
The twins were shoving each other and ambling over but Buttercup just shot them a quick 'hey' and floated away.
Normally she'd stick it through their crude humor and incessant arguing that'd just make her more wound up. Buttercup had had a really shit week.
On top of failing her math test, getting detention on Monday, and being benched for the soccer game, she and the girls had defeated not one, not two, but three damn villains this week. One bank robbery and two monsters.
The bank robbery and lizard monster were a breeze. However, the other monster was made out of some strange sludge and proved to be a real challenge.
It looked like the Slime Monster they'd faced when they were little but much more…viscous, like it was made of gum or something. Buttercup loved to fight as much as the next gal except that punching sludge was no damn picnic.
She and her sisters hadn't even actually beat the Slime Monster either, they'd just found its stupid kitty, so they were shit out of luck.
Eventually, they defeated it with a combination of Blossom's freeze breath and Bubbles' scream. She and her sisters had taken the next day off school because they were so exhausted (and also because they felt gross and it took goddamn ages to clean the sludge out their ears).
Anyway, between the stupid monster and school Bloss had insisted they all make an appearance at that party in midtown.
She wasn't too keen on those parties though she did agree that she needed a good dose of fun. It just so happened that she wouldn't have any of it in Townsville.
Finally, she laid eyes on the Ruff's who were, predictably, going on about some stupid nonsense. Brick and Boomer seemed to be having the main disagreement. Butch was leant against his bike sniggering at his brother and occasionally offering his less than helpful input.
"Woah, 'sup dickheads?" She swiped Butch's bottle of jack that he kept in his back pocket and smashed it, just for kicks.
He snarled and made for her neck but Boomer caught him with lightning reflexes and threw him to the floor. Butch didn't bother to get up he just sat there laughing with his arm propped up on his knee.
"Boomer wants to change his name." Brick rolled his eyes. "Sissypants here doesn't like his current one."
"Fuck off," Boomer narrowed his eyes at his leader. "the Dumbest of the Dumb isn't fair. Not up against Duke of Destruction and Baron of Berserk anyway."
"Fuck off, DotD stays."
"Hold up, if Boomer gets a new one I want a new name too." Buttercup demanded. She hated Thorn.
"Double fuck off, I picked your name myself!" Butch cut in. He'd finally gotten up from the ground and had mounted his bike. "It's a pun. You just don't get it, you dick."
"I get the stupid pun, asshole." She growled. "It just isn't funny."
"Shut up, both of you." Brick yelled and held his hand up.

When the deployments stop, sport helps veterans on their 'darkest days'
Updated October 14, 2018 15:21:53 Davin Bretherton remembers the moment he knew things had to change. He was overweight, he felt lost and that his life was a mess. Key points: Basketball gives Davin Bretherton "a reason to get out of bed"He and fellow veteran Jeff Wright will play at this month's Invictus Games They say sport is a crucial part of life after the military About 10 years ago, the military veteran went out to his shed where he housed several of his prosthetic legs and decided he was done. "I was about 180 to 184 kilograms and the beam broke. [It] left me on the floor crying," he said from his home in Townsville in north Queensland. "I thought something had to change." If you or anyone you know needs help: Bretherton, 47, went from wanting to take his own life to looking for ways to get better and what he found was sport. Townsville is a military town, home of the Army's Lavarack Barracks. It was also home to a national men's basketball team and although the team is gone, the love of the sport lives on. Like many of Australia's regional centres, sport is one thread that binds the community together, but for Townsville's former military population it's also a lifeline. "Sport is definitely my happy drug at the moment," Bretherton said. "I love the competition and love knowing there's so many things out there that you can stick your hand up for and have a go. Bretherton plays wheelchair basketball. On the court he ribs fellow teammates with good-natured banter, makes a shot and celebrates with his team. "It keeps you happy and for someone who was unhappy for such a long time and working on the PTSD, it does wonders," he said. He grew up in Adelaide's tough northern suburbs and from an early age was keen to join the military. Once in the Army, Bretherton joined transport before moving to infantry in Townsville and travelling overseas to Somalia with 1RAR in the early 1990s where he was on the frontline. Nearly a decade later, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. "It was pretty daunting," he said. "There [are] a lot of things there that still play on the mind. You're trying to always process it, but I suppose at the end of the day, our presence there did some good." 'We decided to get rid of the leg' On his return, he was involved in a training accident in Adelaide, falling out of the back of an armoured personnel carrier and severely injuring his ankle. He was 31. "From there it just turned into a little bit of a nightmare," Bretherton said. He endured 26 operations over eight years, suffering multiple infections and taking morphine daily. "I know that eventually in there somewhere the addiction came," Bretherton said. "I was drinking heaps, smoking everything out there that I could and I thought, you know what, bang, something's got to change. "That's when we decided to get rid of the leg." During his 27th operation, doctors amputated his right leg below the knee. Bretherton had hoped removing the injured leg would also remove his pain but the surgery was not the panacea he was hoping for. There were more complications, infections and run-ins with the bureaucracy. "They [the DVA] couldn't do any house modifications because they covered my ankle and now I was an amputee. I didn't have an ankle, so I wasn't covered," he said. "[They were] some of the darkest days that I can remember." The Department of Veteran's Affairs said in a statement it could not comment on individual matters, but it would fund home modifications for Gold and White health card holders depending on their assessed needs. Basketball gives Bretherton 'a reason to get out of bed' Bretherton and his wife Elle married the year before he deployed to Somalia. She raised three children while weathering a storm few could.

Ms Bretherton did not know if he was going to come home at all. "We've had several conversations in the past and I think it was probably me saying, 'I can't do this anymore' which instigated the change," she said. "If you knew him 10 years ago you wouldn't recognise him physically and you wouldn't recognise him mentally either I don't think." Ms Bretherton said a specialist recommended Bretherton play basketball and he did not look back. "It just gives him a reason to get out of bed in the morning," she said. "He's got more motivation, he's happier so [he's] just more pleasant to be around in general." All of Bretherton's teammates play in a wheelchair regardless of their ability. The games are run by not-for-profit organisation Mates4Mates as part of their social connection program. The group's local manager said the rehabilitation service was aimed at equipping veterans for life after Defence. "We can't be their new permanent Defence Force family, we're more of a stepping stone as they continue on with transition and moving on with their life," he said. Jeff Wright also plays. He was paralysed in a motorcycle accident well after he left the Army. "It's a competitive thing and the military is competitive by nature anyway," he said.

Photo: Jeff Wright (pictured left) and Davin Bretherton will play wheelchair basketball in October's Invictus Games. (ABC News: Mark O'Leary) Invictus 'gives you hope' Later this month, both Bretherton and Wright will be representing Australia in the Invictus Games in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby. Bretherton is also competing in sailing. For both of them, it will be the second time they have taken part. Bretherton said Invictus "gives you hope". "It's not always going to be easy but all you want to do I suppose is feel a sense of belonging again and I definitely think that's what Invictus does for me, anyhow," he said. The games will be held in Sydney from October 20 and will bring together the military community to support "our wounded warriors". Michael Handley from Tweed Heads in northern New South Wales will be at the games showcasing an app he has developed to provide immediate help to users. The app is called RedSix red is the colour for danger and six is a Defence term meaning "I've got your back". Handley also served in Somalia and said the growing suicide rate in the Defence community prompted him to develop the app.

Photo: Davin Bretherton and Jeff Wright play wheelchair basketball in Townsville and will compete at the Invictus Games. (ABC News: Mark O'Leary) 'Talking with someone who has worn the uniform is easier' The app is restricted to serving and ex-Defence members and uses GPS technology to link users with others within a 200 kilometre radius. The app allows users to check in to indicate how they are feeling: green, amber or red. "Green means you're good, amber means you're okay and red [means] you're in a bad headspace [and] could use someone to reach out," Handley said. That could mean contacting them via the app and asking them for coffee or if they just needed to talk. He said in its first weeks, two people checked in with the red symbol for help and their call was answered immediately by other members. "I just wanted to save one life and I think we're way above that," Handley said. "Talking with someone who has worn the uniform is a lot easier than talking with someone who hasn't." He said RedSix allowed an intervention to happen immediately, instead of veterans waiting several weeks to see a psychologist. Handley was diagnosed with PTSD in 2005 and knows what others are going through. "I rarely slept. I was extremely aggressive. I lost my temper at the drop of a hat," he said. But he said that instead of focusing on the long road ahead, he concentrated on taking little steps and, like Bretherton, fitness became key. Handley found the gym, started bodybuilding and reconnected with other veterans in the area. "We have this little thing at home, that when I come home from work every day that my daughters greet me at the door, no matter what they're doing," he said. "So no matter how bad my day is, I've got these two little humans who just want to be around dad. It turns my bad day into a bright day."

Rabbitohs maintain winning streak as Storm and Raiders post victories
Updated July 14, 2018 21:48:21 Map: Homebush 2140 The Rabbitohs make it nine straight wins, the Storm pip the Sea Eagles in a Brookvale thriller, while the Raiders thrash the Cowboys at a freezing Canberra Stadium. Quick navigation Rabbitohs defeat Bulldogs for ninth win in a row

Photo: Alex Johnston (R) celebrates with Adam Reynolds and Angus Crichton after a South Sydney try. (AAP: Dan Himbrechts) An Adam Reynolds masterclass and a Robert Jennings hat-trick of tries has guided South Sydney to a 24-6 defeat of Canterbury, their ninth straight win. The Rabbitohs half-back gave a reminder of his class with a superlative kicking display as well as scoring one try and having a hand in another two for the premiership favourites at the Olympic stadium. While winger Jennings has established himself as one of the competition's best finishers after his three-try haul took his season tally to 16, provisionally moving him to the top league's try-scoring list. Rabbitohs coach Anthony Seibold has transformed his side into a premiership force this season and with seven games remaining they look bona fide contenders. External Link:Bulldogs v Rabbitohs summary In a promising omen for the Rabbitohs, on the seven occasions they have previously won nine straight in a season, they have gone on to be crowned premiers on six occasions. The exception being in 1989 when they won 12 straight but fell one game short of the grand final at the hands of eventual premiers Canberra. The club's record winning streak in a season stands at 15, set in 1932. The Rabbitohs were guilty of some uncharacteristic errors in the first-half with Angus Crichton blowing a golden opportunity with a wayward pass and Cody Walker putting it down cold with his side on the attack. External Link:Bulldogs v Rabbitohs chalkboard They finally clicked into gear when a towering Reynolds bomb caused the Bulldogs to turn it over and Jennings scored off a left-hand shift. And when Damien Cook scythed through the defensive line from dummy-half, the Rabbitohs went 70 metres to score through Reynolds to make it 12-2 at half-time. Reynolds fingerprints were once again all over the Rabbitohs third try when he deftly grubber-kicked for Jennings. External Link:Bulldogs v Rabbitohs stats It took a back-handed basketball pass from Will Hopoate to Reimis Smith to get the home side on the board for the first time. The Bulldogs were plucky in the first-half, getting over the line on three occasions only to be held up.

(AAP: Dan Himbrechts) And a desperate strip from Sam Burgess on Jeremy Marshall-King once again denied the Bulldogs with 14 minutes remaining. The Rabbitohs completed the rout when Jennings grabbed his treble - the third time he has scored three or more tries in a game this season. The results leaves the Bulldogs anchored in 15th spot with just four wins for the season. Storm pip Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval
Tumblr media
Photo: Kenny Bromwich attempts to get an offload away for the Storm against the Sea Eagles. (AAP: Brendon Thorne) A late Cameron Smith penalty goal has helped Melbourne come back from the brink to avoid an upset loss and beat arch rivals Manly 14-13 at Brookvale Oval. After the Sea Eagles jumped out to a 12-0 lead early and Daly Cherry-Evans kicked a field goal just before the break, the Storm scored tries either side of half-time to reduce the margin to one. The game remained at 13-12 for a high-quality 20 minutes during the second half before Trent Hodkinson was penalised for picking up the ball in an offside position with nine minutes to go. Without five of their Origin stars in Billy Slater, Cameron Munster, Will Chambers, Josh Addo-Carr and Felise Kaufusi, Smith then kicked the Storm to victory with a penalty goal. External Link:Sea Eagles v Storm summary Smith's availability through the Origin period again paid dividends as the Storm went 6-0 through the representative weeks for the first time in the club's history. The win moves Melbourne to second on the ladder ahead of St George Illawarra, who have a game to play against the Wests Tigers this weekend. Any chances of a re-match between Storm centre Curtis Scott and Manly's Dylan Walker, who came to blows two months ago in Melbourne, were rubbed out before kick-off when Walker was sidelined with a knee injury. External Link:Sea Eagles v Storm chalkboard But Scott had the last laugh regardless, putting on an offload that appeared to go forward for Melbourne's first try through Suliasi Vunivalu in the 34th minute. After Brodie Croft crossed nine minutes after half-time, Scott looked as if he was going to give Melbourne the lead when he charged over on his right edge. But the bunker ruled he had dropped the ball in a tackle from Manly's Joel Thompson just as he went to get it down. External Link:Sea Eagles v Storm stats Cherry-Evans was impressive for Manly just days after his best performance in a Queensland State of Origin jersey. He forced two drop outs with the boot, kicked a field goal and laid on the first try for second rower Shaun Lane. It was Lane's second of the night after he ran onto a ball from hooker Manase Fainu in just the seventh minute following a Martin Taupau offload that broke the Storm open. Raiders tame Cowboys in the Canberra cold
Tumblr media
Photo: Jordan Rapana touches down to score a try for the Raiders in their win over the Cowboys. (AAP: Mick Tsikas) Canberra's 38-12 victory over North Queensland, inspired by a hat-trick to journeyman Michael Oldfield, has been soured by a knee injury to captain Jarrod Croker. The Raiders blasted the Cowboys with four second-half tries in below-zero temperatures at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night but they could be without Croker for an extended period. The veteran centre dislocated his knee early in the match, attempted to play through it for about 20 minutes before going to the bench in pain just before half-time. External Link:Raiders v Cowboys summary Croker's absence seemed to flatten the Raiders after dominant start as North Queensland recovered to close the gap to 14-12 at the break. Canberra was forced to defend multiple attacking efforts from the Cowboys early in the second half before the floodgates opened. External Link:Raiders v Cowboys chalkboard Oldfield crossed for his second try in the 65th minute and did it again five minutes later by intercepting a Cowboys pass, running the length of the field to put the Raiders up 26-12 to seal their eighth win of the season. The Raiders opened the scoring in style through winger Jordan Rapana, who was playing his first game in three weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury. External Link:Raiders v Cowboys stats Rapana crossed for his second late in the second-half to put the Raiders 18 points clear, while Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer, who filled in kicking duties for Croker, were also able to get among the points. Star winger Nick Cotric filled in at full-back in the absence of suspended Jack Wighton and injured Brad Abbey. Lachlan Coote and Gavin Cooper scored the Cowboys' tries as the pre-season premiership favourites slumped to their 13th loss of the season. Ricochet, swing and a convenient bat, Craig Overton can sparkle in the event that he controls his outrage
Craig Overton isn't as quick as his twin sibling Jamie, however is the better bowler of the two and is set to play in the principal Ashes Test at the Gabba. Photo: Ian Hitchcock/Getty Images
In the midst of the hurly-beefy and hot air that unavoidably goes with the weeks prior to the Brisbane Test England have experienced some honest to goodness issues. Ben Stokes is still in the northern side of the equator and prone to stay there; Steven Finn turned into the late supplanting who left ahead of schedule with a knee issue; Jake Ball bent a lower leg in Adelaide; youthful quick bowlers like Tom Curran and George Garton have been summoned from a remote place. In any case, there might be a recipient from every one of these misfortunes and that is Somerset's Craig Overton.
Overton was chosen in the first visit party in front of Finn yet the presumption was that he would be there as the new kid on the block, to learn, to enhance and potentially to play a Test or two later in the arrangement. At the point when Stokes was sidelined the entryway was partially open; there was the shot he could press into the group as the fourth seamer, halfway in view of his batting ability. Presently, after the wounds to Finn and Ball, that entryway is totally open. Overton is on course to play in Brisbane.
So he may need to get more consideration from the Aussies. From Townsville onwards they may try to undermine the new kid's certainty. "Batting ability? He got a couple in the last match". They could even dig up the renowned slur coordinated at Mark Waugh every one of those years prior – "he's not even the best cricketer in his family". The reality of the matter is that twin sibling Jamie is a speedier bowler with incredible potential yet the details show that the senior Overton, by a couple of minutes, is right now the better wager - and less obstructed by damage.
There will be no less than one Australian wishing Overton well while as yet seeking after a home triumph at the Gabba. Chris Rogers, the previous Test opener, knew the Overtons well before he wound up as their skipper at Somerset in 2016. Rogers played for North Devon CC at Instow, a charming waterfront setting if the breeze isn't blowing too furiously, when the twins were in shorts and their dad was in the group.
The Overtons are pleased Devonians. They went to West Buckland School close Barnstaple, similar to one of Somerset's deplorable saints of the past, Harold Gimblett. They advanced through the Devon youth framework and on to the Somerset Academy. Aside from the unavoidable anxiety breaks en route there was never much uncertainty they would wind up noticeably immense resources for the club.
The twins are just about indistinguishable. At the point when the South African mentor, Dave Nosworthy, came to Somerset he conceded he would never disclose to them separated until the point when he saw them knocking down some pins. Craig does not run so far as Jamie, the procedure is marginally less distracted and there isn't the same quick quest for pace. He can swing the ball away; exploiting his stature (both are 6ft 5in) he can hit the shoulder of the bat more regularly than most and is more precise than his sibling. Craig has just been chosen for England white-ball squads while never playing – there was much murmuring and protesting at Taunton this late spring when he was discarded from the T20 coordinate there against South Africa. Truth be told he is as of now a greatly improved red-ball bowler.
Craig Overton got a couple against a Cricket Australia XI yet took four wickets. Photo: Saeed Khan/AFP/Getty Images
There have been difficulties en route. The most disturbing originated from an episode at Sussex in 2015 when Overton mishandled Ashar Zaidi. He was thusly prohibited for two matches. At the time this may have been viewed as the gullible upheaval of a youthful torch – for the Overtons have dependably been confrontational cricketers. That was my underlying presumption. At that point conversing with umpires it ended up plainly clear that Overton's conduct on the field was again and again close to the edge and eventually reckless. Any normal bowler looks to sustain a decent compatibility with the umpires.
Matthew Maynard, at that point the mentor at Somerset, recognized there was more to this than over-extravagance. There were genuine outrage issues and master direction was looked for. It is to the credit of both Maynard and Overton that they perceived an issue, tended to it and it appears to have been settled.
In 2017 Overton, alongside Jack Leach, was a key supporter of Somerset's survival in the main division. However his everything rounder status melted away – with a most noteworthy score of 46 in the Championship and a normal in the adolescents. He can bat, notwithstanding what they think in Adelaide. He is a characteristic striker of the ball however he isn't yet sufficient to endeavor long Test coordinate style innings. So on the off chance that he plays at the Gabba he should stay with what has worked previously: to be mean with the ball and forceful with the bat. What's more, in the event that he succeeds anticipate that Rogers will be one of the first to salute him, but with a deliberately camouflaged whisper.

An incredibly bad fan script for Powerpuff Girls
I just came across an old archive of my old projects and text documents and so on, and inside it was this silly fan-script I wrote for Powerpuff Girls. The file is dated July 2000. There’s a couple of really bad jokes in it and it’s not very good in general. You’ve been warned.
Powerpuff Girls
in
Soy-Egg Green
NARRATOR: The city-- of Townsville!  Where every morning, all the people have a good, healthy breakfast.
[Cheery music plays as various people are shown eating breakfast.  They all happen to be eating green-colored scrambled eggs.]
NARRATOR: And what's this?  Why, everyone must be trying out that brand-new breakfast food, Soy-Egg Green!
[Entire families are munching on Soy-Egg Green.  Everyone seems to be loving it.  Cut to a random family.]
HUSBAND: Mmm, honey, what is this?
WIFE: It's that new breakfast food, Soy-Egg Green!  It's good for you - it's made of soy!
HUSBAND: My, yes, and it is quite delicious, too!  It's a wonderful part of a balanced breakfast!  What do you think, kids?
[Son and daughter are munching away, emphatically nodding at how good Soy-Egg Green tastes.]
HUSBAND: Mmm, mmm... it's soy good!
WIFE: Yes, dear, it soy is!
NARRATOR: Suddenly...
[Cut to the Utonium residence.]
PROFESSOR: Girls, why aren't you trying Soy-Egg Green?
BLOSSOM: It smells icky.
BUBBLES: Ick, it's green!
PROFESSOR: Buttercup?  Won't you eat green eggs? I am!
BUTTERCUP: I will not eat them, I want ham!
PROFESSOR [sighs]: Oh, very well...
[The professor puts the untouched Soy-Egg Green onto a big plate and walks to the kitchen with it.  The camera zooms in on the plate...  closer... closer... closer... until lots of little specks can be seen floating around in the green-tinted curd soybean product(tm).]
NARRATOR: Later...
[Cut to the PPG's bedroom.  The PPG-phone buzzes.  Blossom answers.]
BLOSSOM: Hello?  Yes?  Mayor, you sound terrible, I-- Yes, we're coming right away!  [She slams the phone down.]  Come on, we've got to help the mayor!
[The PPG start to fly out of the house, when they're stopped by seeing the professor with an icepack on his head, groaning.]
BLOSSOM: Professor?  Are you sick?
PROFESSOR: Yes, I... I think I'm just going to go... lie down a while...
[The PPG fly out and make haste to the mayor's office.  The mayor is sitting very sick-looking in his chair.]
MAYOR: Girls, this is terrible.  Mrs. Bellum came in and got then she got sick, and so I sent her home, and now I'm getting sick too!  Who will run the city?
BLOSSOM: Mayor, can't you take a day off?  You have other people who work here too, right?
[The mayor stares blankly.]
MAYOR: Um, sure.  But I don't know how I could have gotten sick!
BUTTERCUP: Well, you were in the same room as Mrs. Bellum.  You probably breathed her same air or somethin'.
MAYOR [crying]: But I didn't inhale!
BUBBLES: When I get sick, I stay at home, and the professor makes me a nice big bowl of chicken soup, and then I feel all better inside!
BLOSSOM: Yeah, mayor, go home and have some chicken soup and then you can feel better!
MAYOR: You're probably right, girls.  Could you please fly me home?  I don't want to make everyone on the bus sick, too.
[The PPG nod, pick up the mayor and fly him over the city.]
BUTTERCUP: That's funny.  There aren't that many people out today.
[They fly to the mayor's house.  In his kitchen, Blossom notices something.]
BLOSSOM: Hey, isn't this a package of... Soy-Egg Green?
MAYOR: You mean the new soy-based egg substitute, a delicious part of a complete breakfast?  Sure is!  That stuff is wonderful!
BUTTERCUP: Hmm.  The professor eats Soy-Egg Green and he gets sick... so does the mayor...
BLOSSOM: This can mean only one thing!  Soy-Egg Green is what's making people sick!
BUBBLES [playing with the packaging]: Ooh, there's a picture of that cute monkey on it!
[Buttercup and Blossom look at the package.  There is clearly a picture of Mojo Jojo on it.]
BLOSSOM and BUTTERCUP: Mojo Jojo?!
BUBBLES: Yep, that's the one!
BLOSSOM: Come on! Let's go get that monkey!
BUTTERCUP: Yeah, we'll go and spank him good this time!
BUBBLES: Ooh, we get to spank the monkey?
[The PPG take off.]
MAYOR [sickly]: Bye...girls... I'm just going to take a nap now...
[Cut to Mojo Jojo's lair.  Mojo Jojo is standing by a table with test tubes etc., laughing maniacally.]
MOJO JOJO: Ah ha ha ha ha ha!  According to my records, everyone in Townsville has bought my Soy-Egg Green!  INCLUDING the Utonium residence!  Everything is going to plan, and nothing can stop me or my creation from taking over Townsville, not even the--
[A crash is heard.]
MOJO JOJO: The Powerpuff Girls!  Why are you not sick from eating Soy-Egg Green, my delicious part of a balanced breakfast?
BLOSSOM: You creep!  So it was you who unleashed that virus on the people of Townsville!
MOJO JOJO: Oh, but you are mistaken Powerpuff Girls, because I, Mojo Jojo, have not put an ordinary virus into my wonderful breakfast food, and instead I have created a SUPER VIRUS, which is super and powerful!
[The PPG get ready to open up a can of whoop-ass on Mojo Jojo.]
MOJO JOJO [on knees]: Oh, please, you cute little Powerpuff Girls!  Please do not hurt me, for I do not like being in pain!  Please, take my money, my jewels, anything!
BUTTERCUP: Give us the antidote!
MOJO JOJO: Never!  I mean... Antidote?  What antidote?  I do not have any antidote for this virus, because it is a super virus that is so super and powerful that I do not have any antidote that you speak of!  I have no antidote to give you for you to ruin my plans that you have ruined.
BUTTERCUP: [Sighs, closing her eyes and crossing her arms.] Whenever the bad guy decides to create an evil virus in order to take over the world, he always makes an antidote in case he gets sick with it himself.  Haven't you *ever* watched a movie?
MOJO JOJO: Oh, all right, you win.  There's an antidote - and it's over THERE!
[Mojo Jojo points to a shelf with three jars on it, one cyan, one yellow, one magenta.]
MOJO JOJO: Ah ha, you powerpuff girls will not find the correct antidote, for I, Mojo Jojo, have placed THREE JARS over there, and one has the antidote and the other two do not, and so you do not know which one is the antidote, and so you will surely fail!
BUBBLES: What's in the other two jars?
MOJO JOJO: A placebo! I am truly brilliant!
BLOSSOM: A placebo like... sugar water?
MOJO JOJO: Yes, that is what it is, it is a placebo, and the placebo is sugar water!
BLOSSOM: So it won't do anything bad?
MOJO JOJO: Well... um... no.
BLOSSOM: Let's go!
[The three PPG grab all three jars, Blossom's being cyan, Bubbles' being yellow, and Buttercup's being magenta, and fly off.]
MOJO JOJO: [Raises fist] Curse you, powerpuff girls!  But Soy LeGreen, my greatest creation ever that I have created, will not be destroyed so easily when it has not even been made!
[The camera follows the PPG flying off, jars in their arms.]
BLOSSOM: What d'you think he meant by "Soy LeGreen?"
BUTTERCUP: [Shrugs.] I dunno.
[Mojo Jojo picks up a black box with a red button.]
MOJO JOJO: It would seem that it is time for me to proceed with my plan prematurely, for the Powerpuff Girls have once again ruined my plan, but I will not let them ruin it, and so I must proceed with my plan before they can ruin it!  Behold... Soy LeGreen - awaken!
[Mojo Jojo presses the button.  Electric waves go out, covering Townsville. One wave is followed closely by the camera, as it goes towards some random person, lying in bed, who has the little black dots inside his head, which then suddenly spark with life.  All of the soy-sickened people suddenly wake and sit up, jerking up rigidly like a robot.  This is shown in several bedrooms, each a quarter of a second, ending with the Mayor's, where the Mayor stares blankly]
MAYOR: Must... swarm...
[The Mayor stands up and walks out of his bedroom, zombie-like, and begins to walk down the sidewalk.  The camera zooms out, showing dozens of people on the sidewalk all walking in the same direction at the same pace, and zooms out further to show the whole city, with swarms of people all coalescing on one point in front of Mojo Jojo's secret lair in the volcano in Townsville Park. They start to climb atop each other, and get into a large cluster shaped like a large, slithering, ravenous mass.]
NARRATOR: Oh my goodness!  It looks like... it looks like Soy LeGreen is PEOPLE!  All those innocent civilians!  I hope the Powerpuff Girls can save the day without [gulp] HURTING anyone!
[The camera flashes to the PPG, who are flying over the park.]
BUBBLES: Look at that big blob!  Ick!
BLOSSOM: That must be Soy LeGreen-- Wait a minute, it looks like Soy LeGreen is people!
NARRATOR: I already said that, Blossom.
[Blossom blatantly ignores the Narrator.]
BLOSSOM: Anyway. We've got to find the professor in that mess and give him the antidote so he can go back to normal!  Then he can help us make more antidote to cure everyone!
BUTTERCUP: Okay, let's go!  [She 'revs up' her arm, and is about to flash into the large people-pile.  Blossom grabs her shirt, stopping her.]
BLOSSOM: No Buttercup!  We can't hurt anyone!  They're all just innocent bystanders!
BUTTERCUP: Please? Just this once?
[Blossom shakes her head glumly.]
BUTTERCUP: You're no fun.
BUBBLES: Ooh, there's the professor!  PROFESSOR!  WE'RE OVER HERE!
[The monstrous ravenous cluster looks over at the PPG and glares.  The cluster starts to slither towards the PPG.  The professor is plainly visible 'riding' the top of the cluster's "head."]
BUTTERCUP: Now look what you did!
BUBBLES: Hey!  I was just trying to--
BLOSSOM: There's no time for fighting right now!  We've GOT to get the professor!
[The PPG swoop down and grab the professor off of the back of the ravenous cluster, which eyes and snaps at the PPG but misses.  He stares with a blank expression, twitching as he's moved further from his target position.  They fly out to the suburbs, near the Utonium residence.]
BLOSSOM: That should be far enough!  Professor, can you hear me?
PROFESSOR: Must... swarm...
[PPG all open their respective jars and simultaneously splash some of the contents onto the Professor's face, the drops of colored liquids coming together to be white.  The professor suddenly blinks into awareness.]
PROFESSOR: Girls--?  Where am I?  And what is this white, sticky stuff all over my face?
BLOSSOM: There's no time to explain, professor!  We need you to make up a big batch of this stuff!
PROFESSOR: Okay, I'll try... I don't know if I have that much energy though.
[The PPG lift up the professor and fly into their house, slamming the door shut behind them.]
[Cut to the park.  The swarm is just sitting there, a big pile of inactive people-goo.]
NARRATOR: Meanwhile...
[Cut to the inside of Mojo Jojo's lair, where he was watching the PPG with his telescope.]
MOJO JOJO: Ooooh, curse those Powerpuff Girls!  They will not get away with this!  I must wait for them to come back so that I can destroy them so that they will be gone so that they are not here in order for me, Mojo Jojo, to take over the world, with my creation Soy LeGreen that I have created!
[Cut to Utonium household exterior.  The sun sets.  Then rises.  Then sets again.  Then rises.  Cut inside.  Bubbles and Buttercup are playing around, tossing a ball to each other.  The Professor and Blossom are eating scrambled eggs (the yellow kind) and bacon.]
BLOSSOM [mouth full of eggs]: So Professor, did you ever get that antidote made up?
PROFESSOR: [Gasps, and stands up.]  You know what? I completely forgot about that!  I'd better hurry!
[The Professor runs down to his lab.  The PPG stare at the door.  For about 10 seconds, random powertool sounds go on.  The Professor bursts out with a gigantic spraybottle in his hands.]
PROFESSOR: All done!
BLOSSOM: Great!
[The PPG swoop and grab the spraybottle and fly to the park, post haste.  They spray a mist of the liquid over the (sleeping) ravenous cluster until the spraybottle is empty.  All the people individually wake up, yawning, rolling off the pile and blanketing the park in people.]
MOJO JOJO [faintly, in the distance]: Curse you, Powerpuff Girls!
[The PPG swoop down and find the Mayor, who is sitting up and rubbing the salt from his eyes.]
MAYOR: My goodness, thank you, Powerpuff Girls!  I seem to be completely cured of that nasty virus!  But... how did I end up in the park?
PPG: Well--
MAYOR: Oh, my, I'm so hungry!  I could really use some breakfast... are any of you girls hungry for some delicious Soy-Egg Green?
NARRATOR [chuckling]: Oh, Mayor, you soy are funny!
[Flash to ending hearts.]
NARRATOR: So once again, the day... is soyved!  Er, saved!  Thanks to... the Powerpuff Girls!  Part of a good, balanced breakfast.
