watching black sails while having a popular post about knights sure is making me think about pirates and knights as very specific romantic ideals of violent men bound to each other by oaths, one ostensibly within the law and one emphatically outside of it

#SHANTAE SPRITES DS UPGRADE#
Gunvolt is very fast-paced and frantic, kind of like the upgrade in speed from Mega Man to Mega Man X to Mega Man Zero pushed another step further (it's by the same company that developed Mega Man Zero). Shovel Knight is very old-school style with modern design and polish. I also highly recommend Shovel Knight and Gunvolt, as /u/ErrorEra mentioned.
#SHANTAE SPRITES DS SERIES#
The Pokemon and Fire Emblem series both have a 2D pixel-style overworld with 3D graphics for the battles, not sure if that's what you're looking for. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has 3D graphics but mimics the style of A Link to the Past very closely, if you enjoyed ALttP I highly recommend getting LBW. With a small SD card, you can fit a lot of really nice, quality digital titles! Hope that helps! There is more, I am sure, but these were just the ones I could think of off the top of my head! I know physical games were preferable, but I highly encourage you to check out some of the eShop releases. FGO is a mythological fanfic clusterfuck...
Prologue: You are an unassuming man or madam who briefly meets their classmate, Mash. And angers their tsundere superior in Chaldea. An organization made to stop the end of the world. The one guy standing around and dressed like “I am an evil villain”. Turns on Chaldea and all the people suppose to go get blown up before they can embark on their first mission. This explosion sends you flying into Fuyuki with your Tsundere Superior and your classmate turned servant. You are the worst choice to save humanity from the end of the world. But now the only option.
Storyline of Fuyuki: Ah, good to be back in OG Fuyuki. Except everything is one fire, most of humanity is dead, and you have to escort a tsundere superior around while your classmate learns how to be a servant. Everyone is evil except Cu Chulainn who is a wizard and is your drunk uncle here to impart wisdom and snark.
Storyline of Orleans: Jeanne D’Arc comes back as Darth Vader leading an army of other historical villains including Elisabeth Báthory , Dracula, Marie Antonette’s Executioner, the Phantom of the Opera, and Darth Lancelot. You team up with Jedi Master Jeanna D’Arc as well as a younger for some reason dragonkin version of Elisabeth Báthory (just to make thing confusing), Marie Antionette, Motherfuckin’ Mozart, Kiyohime and Sigfried to stop her. Also dragons are everywhere. Darth D’Arc exists because Bluebeard wanted to give her catharsis.
Storyline of Septem: What if Emperor Nero wasn’t completely off his fucking rocker, came back as a fashionable wife, and has to fight previous Roman Emperors to get back Rome? Including a rotund Julius Caesar, an incoherent batshit Caligula, a young Alexander the Great and his hapless future successor who is an adult and just as confused as you, and Romulus. Whose death spawns Attilla the Hun as a space dressed waifu. And just to make their roles in history null and void. You enlist the help of Boudica and Spartcus to aid you. Also Jing Ke and mecha Lu Bu are there too.
Storyline of Okeanos: What if Francis Drake was a big tiddie pirate wife. Alright what if previously to your arrival she 1 v 1′d Poseidon and WON!? Alright now what if after getting her help, you fought Eric Bloodaxe, got trolled by Euryale to re-enact the myth of the Minotaur. But then the Minotaur turned out to be a good boi and joined you. Also Artemis carrying around Orion, Atlanta and David, King of Israel is there. So is Jason and some of the Argonauts but like just Medea and Heracles. Replacing the other Argonauts with Hektor from the Trojan War. Also you have to punch Blackbeard with Mary Read and Anne Bonny.
Story of London: There’s fog every where. You have to join forces with Traitor Knight, Mordred, Doctor Jeckyll, a kid Hans Christian, and Frakenstein’s Bride. Contending with Jack the Ripper, Mephistopheles, Hoienheim, Mecha Babbage, a bunch of Mannequins, and then the Mist of London just sort of summoned Nicoli Tesla and Darth Arthur to fight too. At the very end Tamamo no Mae and Sakata Kintoki arrive just to exit stage left immediately.
Story of E Pluribus Unum: Medb wants to fuck Darth Cu Chulainn but he’s not that interested. So she decides to fuck up Wild West America instead. Making Beowulf the Warden of Alcatrez, Fergus mac Roich the Heavy, and then kidnaps Rama’s Wife before mortally wounding him. Also she has to fight against Lion Headed Mecha Edison, Helena Blavatsky. The two of which are using  Karna, Son of the Sun as the Bouncer. You convince a germ manic Florence Nightingale to aid you, pick up a wounded Rama on the way, as well as Robin Hood, Billy the Kid, young  Elisabeth Báthory again, Geronomo and Nero who is trying to be an actress to fight them all. Also Scathach, Fionn Mac Cumhill and Diarmid are there too. But they just do things at random and Li Shuwen randomly shows up too.
Story of Camelot: What if the entire round table was just a bunch of psychopathic zealots who worthship the ground Arthur walked upon. And then got into a fight with Ozymandius and Nitrocris for the lulls while launching a magical tactical nuclear strike on the entirety of Crusader State Middle East. All the legends of Hassan is trying to stop them but Arash is there too. Tawara Tota is also there to distribute a shit ton of rice. Nothing you do here really matters. But Bedivere shows up to aid in the lackluster ending. Xuanzang Sanzang is also there.
Story of Babylonia: Not Enkidu answers to giant Medusa who is pretending to be Tiamat. Bringing about a massive army of demons and monsters to wipe out humanity in prehistoric Mesopotomia. Leonidas, Ushiwakamaru, and Benkai are doing their best to fight off the hordes. After three Demons go out like bosses before your arrival. Also young Medusa and Merlin are there cause why not? After befriending a woman in a tiger kigarumi, Quetzacoltal, Ishtar, and Ereshikigal. You find out defeating giant Medusa was a ploy to summon the real Tiamat and shit goes down. You eventually drop Tiamat into the Underworld where the First Hassan dewings her after which Ishtar, Ereshikigal, and Gilgamesh work together to defeat her. Ushiwakamaru is captured and comes back as an evil version of herself but with the aid Nekai and Quetzacoltal going out in a blaze of glory you defeat them all.
Story of Saloman: Every servant shows up to fight off Soloman and his Demons, turns out Soloman is the daemon Goetia possessing the corpse of Soloman. And the true Soloman is actually your acting director and base medical doctor. After your classmate sacrifices herself you defeat Goetia and Soloman decides he’s good for now and peaces out taking Goetia down with him and restoring humanity. Bringing your classmate back to life in the process.
But wait THERES MORE! The remaining Demons who survive the Goetia fight decide they’re mad they lost. So create some singularities to air out their grievances. Trapping you and the staff of Chaldea in a time space continuum until you hunt down and take them all out.
Story of Shinjuku: The League of Evil comprising of James Moriarty, Yan Qing, Darth Emiya, the Headless Horseman riding the Spirit of Vengeful Wolves, and the Phantom of the Opera take over 1990s Shinjuku for the fun of it. You have to enlist of the aid of James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes, Darth Jeanne D’Arc, Darth Arthur Pendragon, and Edmond Dantes. Turns out Moriarty that was your ally was actually the true Moriarty and the one leading the League of Evil was the Demon you’re looking for. Summoning the power of all Fictional Detectives you defeat Moriarty. I shit you not.
Story of Agartha: Welcome to the Center of the Earth. Where the vast open plains are ruled by Darth Francis Drake, Penthesilea, and Wu Zetian. You are joined by Astolfo who takes the form of a cute anime girl but retains his gender, Chevalier d’Eon, and a young Fergus. Fighting the Queens and their respective empires with the aid of...sigh, Christopher Columbus. Surprising no one, Columbus turns out to be the true villain and with the aid of Shahrazad and a Demon almost Colony drops the Center of the Earth on top of the actual Earth, Age of Ultron style. But the power of friendship you win. Also Godzilla Heracles is running around.
Story of Shimosa: What if just after or before the Warring States period: Ashiya Doman, Yagyu Munenori, Minamoto no Raiko, Tomoe Gozen, Mochizuki Chiyome, and Shuten Doji showed up to fuck everything up? Including corrupting Hozoin Inshun just to be absolutely asinine? You get the power of a time traveling woman using the legend of Miyamoto Musashi to get into shenanigans. Also obtaining the aid of Fuma Kotaro and occasionally a robotic mecha Kato Danzo. The Demon sort of just appears backing Ashiya Doman.
Story of Salem: The Salem Witch trials but if done like the VVitch in a horror film manner. Not so much about the battles but about the atmosphere. As you, your classmate, Robin Hood, Charles Henri-Sanson, Nezha, Mata Hari, and the witch, Cirice posing as Medea for a few seconds there. Have to pose as a traveling circus of storytellers and entertainers. While the suspicions of the towns people grow darker. Ghouls and spirits begin to haunt the night. There are executions and the Demon turns out to be the one you least expect. The soul of a child is used to open up a gateway for an Outer God and shit goes down.
But wait there is even MORE!
Story of Prologue: You’ve hunted down and killed the demons. And now the world is back to normal. When a new force arrives to take over Chaldea in your stead. One of those new arrivals brings along an army to slaughter Chaldea and activates the end of the world by way of Alien Invasion. You get out of there in the nick of time via a magical meguffin mobile and now have to track down Lostbelts. Each one controlled by a King, a Master who was your former colleague who previously got blown up and now is now revived by the Aliens, and their servant as well. Good fucking luck chuck!
Story of Anatasia: Russia is fucked. Russia is SO FUCKED! That its been stuck in an Ice Age since the reign of Ivan the Terrible. The Russians are forced to use a magic to turn them into anthropamorphic beings and have been surviving barely due to the machanations of Saleri, Ivan the Terrible, Anastasia Romonov, the Master of this Lostbelt, and a particularly sadistic fox woman. With barely anything to go on and running out of fuel. You have to venture out into the eternal Russian Blizzard to get the aid of one of the locals, Avicebron and Darth Atlanta to defeat Anatasia, Ivan, and tear down their cosmic eldritch tree to restore humanity in that sector.
Story of Gotterdammerung: You made it out of Russia and into the Netherlands, where it seems on the cusp of Ragnarok. You are immediately facerolled by Sigurd being possessed by Sutr. Who is under the command of a master there. Enlisting the aid of Napoleon Bonaparte you fight back against Frost Giants, Valkyries, and Sigurd. Also enlisting the aid of Brynhildr to do so. You also have to contend with a girl made up of several goddesses and Scatach taking on the manter of Skadi.
Story of S I N: Out of the frying pan and into the China if it never left or evolved beyond the Qin Dynasty. Except for the Emperor who has become a giant space base, artifical intelligence reaching immortality. After having close calls with mecha centaur Xiang Yu, Qin Langyu, an older Li Shuwen,  Lanling Wang. The Emperor sees you teaching peasants how to read and coloney drops a piece of himself on the village. You send Spartacus to punch to meteor...I shit you not. And with the aid of Mordred, Jing Ke, Red Hare, and Chen Gong. You impress Emperor Qin to come out of his shell and reveal his butterfly god form. Also the Master in this Lostbelt is actually a fucking vampire.
And that’s all I’ve gotten to so far.

We have sailed the Acid Sea and now know land is near – and with it all the fun a pirate could desire at Waterdog Port! Yarrrrr!
In other words, Pirate of Pugmire‘s Kickstarter has passed its funding goal, and now we’re headed towards some sweet Stretch Goals. Thanks to everyone who pledged so that we can get this companion volume to Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau printed and out into stores!
And if you haven’t yet had a chance to pledge, there are still a few awesome reward tiers left – some of which include having your pet illustrated as a pirate! – and the KS runs until Thursday. There’s a link below in the Blurbs! section for your convenience!

Leading in to our next Kickstarter campaign, today we were thrilled to reveal that we will be posting a Trinity Continuum: Aberrant webcomic starting tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th, here on the Onyx Path website!
The webcomic will run every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for about six weeks, coinciding with the TC: Aberrant Kickstarter starting the first week in July.
We had the extreme pleasure of working with comic book writer extraordinaire Paul Jenkins, who has written so many amazing works for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, including winning an Eisner award for writing the Inhumans for Marvel Knights, that we’ll let you all Google him rather than trying to list them all.
We’ll have more info on Paul, as well as awesome artist Doug Stambaugh, in the weeks to come as “You Are Not Alone.” rolls out. This is our very first webcomic, we are incredibly excited about it, and we hope it won’t be our last, and is designed to give a taste to new and long-time Aberrant fans of just what the world of Trinity Continuum: Aberrant is like.
Shunned By the Moon art by Leonardo Albiero
Another announcement for today is that we’re incredibly happy to be working with the multi-talented Travis Legge as he leads the development of our upcoming Scarred Lands projects. Travis has already sat in with Eddy, Matt, and myself, as we whipped project ideas into a schedule, and now he’ll be pulling those ideas into actual books.
This doesn’t change how we’re handling the new Scarred Lands Creature Collection with our friend Jon Hodgson’s new company, Handiwork Games, and I actually was able to talk with Jon at UK Games Expo and we firmed up plans for the upcoming Kickstarter Jon will be running for the book. Expect amazing art, fantastic layout and usability, and the chance to pick Reward Tiers that allow backers to determine additional monsters to include in the book beyond those already planned.
We also talked with Chris and Matt from Modiphius while at UKGE about our ongoing Vampire 5th Edition projects. Everyone was excited at being able to work closely together on new V5 books – and that was before the recent Origins Award for Best RPG of the Year! Congrats to all involved!
V5 Chicago By Night art by Ken Meyer, Jr

Neither of which had a KS, so there!

March Wrap-Up
I read books 17 books in March! I did post a few individual reviews and have tagged them here in case you’re interested.
Gemina by Amy Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
I just have so much love for this series. When I finally get to Obsidio and finish it (still waiting for the paperback), I’ll write a whole series review!
Asteria: Into the Fray by Adrienne Enfinger - ⭐⭐
It's not every day that your suicide attempt is interrupted by a handsome archangel. But then, nothing remains ordinary for long on the day Asteria meets Micah for the first time.
Talking her down from the ledge, Micah reveals to Asteria that she is no ordinary young woman. She is the descendant of nephilim - part angel, part human - and her parents did not die in a car crash, they were killed by the fallen angel, Azazel, in the eternal battle of good versus evil.
Asteria finds herself thrust into the middle of that war and discovers that she is part of a prophecy that can finally bring about its end - if Azazel does not kill her first.
She soon joins forces with angels, good and bad, in an epic battle that could save mankind...
...or bring about its demise
Not great… it definitely read like a fanfiction of Supernatural and the quality of writing was… ehhhhhh it was weird like Enfinger was trying too hard.
Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Moral allegory and spiritual autobiography, The Little Prince is the most translated book in the French language. With a timeless charm it tells the story of a little boy who leaves the safety of his own tiny planet to travel the universe, learning the vagaries of adult behaviour through a series of extraordinary encounters. His personal odyssey culminates in a voyage to Earth and further adventures.
Full review soon to follow!
Little Pills by Melody Dodds - ⭐⭐⭐
Seventeen-year-old Charlotte Navarro never asked to be anyone's hero. If you're a hero, your sister isn't supposed to hate you. And you're definitely not supposed to get hooked on Gramma's painkillers. Even so, Charlotte's sister's friend Mia looks at her like she's some sort of hero. As Charlotte starts taking pills more and more, she has to question how it could hurt herself and others, even Mia. Is it a harmless habit or a dangerous addiction?
Review here! Publication – 2nd April 2019
You Do You by Sarah Knight - ⭐⭐⭐
Being yourself should be easy, yet too many of us struggle to live on other people's terms instead of our own. Rather than feeling large and in charge, we feel little and belittled.
Sound familiar? Bestselling "anti-guru" Sarah Knight has three simple words for you:
YOU DO YOU.
It's time to start putting your happiness first--and stop letting other people tell you what to do, how to do it, or why it can't be done. And don't panic! You can do it without losing friends and alienating people. Knight delivers her trademark no-bullsh*t advice about:
The Tyranny of "Just Because"
The social contract and how to amend it
Turning "flaws" into strengths--aka "mental redecorating"
Why it's not your job to be nice
Letting your freak flag fly
How to take risks, silence the doubters, and prove the haters wrong
Review
Beauty Queens by Libba Bray - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The 50 contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras.
But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner.
What’s a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?
Welcome to the heart of non-exfoliated darkness.
BWAHAHAHAHA THIS IS JUST MY TYPE OF HUMOUR!! Granted, my humour is a… specific brand so just beware going into this.

Sixteen-year-old Ada Lovelace is never more alive and sure of herself than when she's hacking into a "secure" network as her alter ego, the Dark Angel. In the real world, Ada is broken, reeling from her best friend Simone's recent suicide. But online, the reclusive daughter of Senator Lovelace (champion of the new Online Privacy Bill) is a daring white hat hacker and the only female member of the Orwellians, an elite group responsible for a string of high-profile hacks against major corporations, with a mission to protect the little guy. Ada is swiftly proving she's a force to be reckoned with, when a fellow Orwellian betrays her to the FBI. To protect her father's career, Ada is sent to ReBoot, a technology rehab facility for teens...the same rehab Simone attended right before killing herself.
It's bad enough that the ReBoot facility is creepy in an Overlook-Hotel-meets-Winchester-Mansion way, but when Ada realizes Simone's suicide is just one in an increasingly suspicious string of "accidental" deaths and "suicides" occurring just after kids leave ReBoot, Ada knows she can't leave without figuring out what really happened to her best friend. The massive cyber conspiracy she uncovers will threaten everything she cares about--her dad's career, her new relationship with a wry, handsome, reformed hacker who gets under her skin, and most of all--the version of herself Ada likes best--the Dark Angel.
Uh yeah here’s my rant review. I just... yeah if you want to know what I thought just read the review I can’t be bothered to reiterate.

Zenith by Linday Cummings and Sasha Alsberg - ⭐⭐⭐
Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness, a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her glass starship, Marauder, however, she's just Andi, their friend and fearless leader.
But when a routine mission goes awry, the Marauder's all-girl crew is tested as they find themselves in a treacherous situation and at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter from Andi's past.
Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two.
Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their shipor just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles toward the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only certainty is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted.
You know what, not as bad as I thought it would be. I mean, it wasn’t anything special and I’m not very attached to the characters, but hey there are only two books so who knows maybe I’ll just finish the series.
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded by so much death?
I knew I had a good feeling about this book. It’s eerie and I was stressing the fuck out the entire book about that dog’s wellbeing. 100% do recommend if you’re into brutal, creepy and dark books. Be forewarned, when I say dark, I mean DARK. Like zombie babies and children that are subsequently decapitated dark.

Losing Adam by Adrienne Clarke - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
What happens when the person you love most in the world suddenly becomes a stranger?
Adam and Jenny’s world is falling apart. Their dream of attending college together away from home quickly becomes a nightmare when Adam begins hearing the voice of the Snow Queen. Adam’s startling transformation from popular drama student into a withdrawn, suspicious stranger leaves Jenny frightened and confused. How can the person she loves most in the world suddenly become someone she doesn’t recognize? As Adam drifts farther and farther away into the Snow Queen’s mysterious world of ice and snow, Jenny believes she must fight to bring him back or risk losing him forever.
Holy fuck. This book probably has the most accurate representation of any mental illness I’ve seen in YA. Adam’s schizophrenia wasn’t watered down in the slightest and it wasn’t romanticized. I would have liked to read more of Adam’s perspective than Jenny’s since Adrienne Clarke writes mental illness so accurately. Does that make sense?
I liked that she gave us a look at how mental illness affects the individual in question, but also their loved ones. Although I would have preferred if we had focused more on Adam as for the reason above.

The Thirteenth Guardian by K.M. Lewis - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Da Vinci’s secret pales. Michelangelo concealed an explosive truth in his famous Creation of Man fresco in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. Everything we have been taught about Eve is wrong—she didn’t cause the fall of man. Instead, Eve carried a far more devastating secret for millennia; one that will change the world forever.
As the modern-day world suffers the cataclysmic effects of the “Plagues of Egypt”, Avery Fitzgerald, a statuesque Astrophysics major at Stanford, discovers that she is mysteriously bound to five strangers by an extremely rare condition that foremost medical experts cannot explain. Thrust into extraordinary circumstances, they race against time to stay alive as they are pursued by an age-old adversary and the world around them collapses into annihilation. Under sacred oath, The Guardians—a far more archaic and enigmatic secret society than the Freemasons, Templars, and the Priory—protect Avery as she embarks on a daring quest that only legends of old have been on before. Avery must come to terms with the shocking realization that the blood of an ancient queen flows through her veins and that the fate of the world now rests on her shoulders.

Angelfall by Susan Ee - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.
Yesssssss I like this. I find that many angel stories are overdone or hyper-religious, but this, this seems pretty promising.
Dead of Night by Carlyle Labuschagne – ⭐
In a dark and desolated After Earth, love still does exist, but the cost of bearing such a flaw is death.
World War III has left Earth in utter turmoil. People’s beliefs are said to be the cause of the worldwide destruction. After The Clearing new laws are set about - to show certitude in anything besides the law is weak and chargeable as mutiny. To be illogical and have faith in religion is illegal, to be limitless is dangerous. And Illness is seen as a defect – all flaws that are inexcusable.
But to love is the greatest betrayal of all man kind. It is a fault the world has long forgotten and punishable by death, a fatal risk Aecker and Opel are fully prepared to take - because in love there is freedom. But how far can they push back before it claims their lives and of those they care about?
This is the worst book I’ve read in my entire life.
Oh my god it was just so bad I don’t even know where to start. There is no plot, the characters are flat, every single scene was chaotic (I swear I got [metaphorical] whiplash), and it ends out of fucking nowhere. I thought I was missing part of my copy then ending was so sudden.
The world development was non-existent, and I was just confused all the way through.
I would write an individual review on this since I received it in exchange for an honest review, but honestly, this is all I have to say. I’m not even entirely sure as to what happened.
Unfortunately, 0 stars is not an option on Goodreads, so I had to stick with one even though I don’t think it deserves it.

I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jasper "Jazz" Dent is a likable teenager. A charmer, one might say.
But he's also the son of the world's most infamous serial killer, and for Dear Old Dad, Take Your Son to Work Day was year-round. Jazz has witnessed crime scenes the way cops wish they could—from the criminal's point of view.
And now bodies are piling up in Lobo's Nod.
In an effort to clear his name, Jazz joins the police in a hunt for a new serial killer. But Jazz has a secret—could he be more like his father than anyone knows?
Yessss another thriller. I love the internal conflict Jazz is dealing with and it’s expertly woven in with the plot. Would recommend, and will definitely be continuing on with the series!
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – ⭐⭐
Since its immediate success in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has remained one of the most popular novels in the English language. Jane Austen called this brilliant work "her own darling child" and its vivacious heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, "as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print." The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and her proud beau, Mr. Darcy, is a splendid performance of civilized sparring. And Jane Austen's radiant wit sparkles as her characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, making this book the most superb comedy of manners of Regency England.
You know… it’s a classic. I don’t really like classics. I feel like I need to read them you know? Oh well.
Everyone’s a Aliebn when ur a Aliebn Too by Jomny Sun - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Here is the unforgettable story of Jomny, an alien sent to study Earth. Always feeling apart, even among his species, Jomny feels at home for the first time among the earthlings he meets. There is a bear tired of other creatures running in fear, an egg struggling to decide what to hatch into, a turtle hiding itself by learning camouflage, a puppy struggling to express its true feelings, and many more.
The characters are unique and inventive—bees think long and hard about what love means, birds try to eat the sun, nothingness questions its own existence, a ghost comes to terms with dying, and an introverted hedgehog slowly lets Jomny see its artistic insecurities. At the same time, Jomny’s curious presence allows these characters to open up to him in ways they were never able to before, revealing the power of somebody who is just there to listen.
Oh my god this was just so cute and filled with so many important messages than hit very close to home. New favourite for sure.

Alright I’m very late like Rouge week ended like yesterday, but i ended up doing all the prompts so i thought i’ll just post them, all the days in one post, they’re short.
Rouge week
Day 1 Family
Rouge watched as Roger and Rayleigh went at it again, in another drinking contest. Except no one could tell if Roger was really drunk, he still acted his usual exuberantly happy self. Rayleigh on the other hand wouldn't get drunk until all the alcohol in the ship had wandered into his grip. It was a matter of who passed out first and Rouges money was on Rayleigh. He sometimes faked sleep just to get everyone (Roger) to stop drinking and realize the party's over. It’s only because of him the ship hasn't run out of alcohol yet.
Shanks and Buggy were already passed out on deck and Crocus was already looking them over and getting them to bed. You'd think that Rayleigh would do it, but at parties he liked to believe his only responsibility was to keep the captain out of trouble. Besides Crocus was on the job.
Rouge herself had only juice to sip from, while watching others get embrained. She had danced a few times with Roger, then Rayleigh and Shanks, but eventually she succumbed to the exhaustion that came with pregnancy and settled down to destroy others at poker.
Rouge won many times as the night wore on and Rayleigh 'passed out' and everyone was herded inside by Crocus, and Rouge smiled as she watched her family, forever growing.
Day 2 Ocean
When Rouge first met Roger, there was a fire in her eyes and red hibiscuses braided in her hair. When Rouge first met Roger, with a dream in her head and time vanishing before her, Rouge had red eyes as her flowers and steel in her bones. She was stronger than the ocean surrounding her.
And yet, Rouge was swept off her feet by the man she had just met. (The man the ocean had given her, laying him on the sand on her tiny island.) She felt a keidoscope of emotions just being near his electric presence and she knew he loved the ocean when he showed her his tiny row boat. "To get off this island," he told her. A grin larger than life painted on his lips as he said it. Then Roger asked her, simply asked her, to come with him, and Rouge knew she couldn't say no to him. Couldn't say no to her ocean beckoning her.
The ocean led them to islands far beyond Rouges imagination, and the trouble they got in was more than Rouge could handle some days, but she managed. Because like a queen she had the ocean behind her and her king Roger by her side. Nothing could stop Red Queen Rouge.
Day 3 Music
"The stars sing," Roger once told his first mate, Rayleigh, and for him one did.
Rouge wasn't like any other stars she knew, she almost felt alone being the only one able to grow life on her fiery planet. Hibiscuses the color of her flames, red, yellow, orange and in shades deeper than her oceans of fire. She was also smaller than any other star she knew and yet she knew she could become smaller still. Small as one of them, those she saw when she looked far enough. One of them always caught her attention.
A man who they called king, a man Rouge wanted to know, a man Rouge has sung for, sad ballets, and war cries, bar songs and content humming, for the man that has caught her attention. Rouge sings for him and she sings for him again and again, but this time she knew would be different. This time she comes to him, sure as a shooting star, riding the tails of comets to meet a fellow called a king, so she may sing for him.
After all, for Roger, one star does sing.
Day 4 Sifi
Rouge had no idea where she was or where that portal had beamed her, but she knew she had to get home, after all there was an empire she had to serve. Rouge started by finding out what world she was in now, by asking a man named Roger. Even with her nervous babbling Rouge knew she could ask for directions but alas it was not to be. For asking Roger turned out to be a mistake, Roger was an idiot.
"Do you know what quadrant of the Gadamerian empire I'm in? The matter displacer shouldn't have beamed me up farther than the time space continuums cyberspace sanctum, but I can't recognize and Gadamerian sector markers, I am still in the Gadamerian empire correct?"
"…What?"
"Um…Is, is there an android you could point me to that might be programed to tell me the information I believe you don't know? It would also be very helpful if you could lend me an ansible or point me to the nearest matter transmitter."
"I still have no idea what you're talking about."
The conversation continued to go in that general way with no one getting anywhere and Rouge getting very frustrated and would have pulled her death ray on Roger had she had it on her at the moment. Eventually Roger bought the dimension hopper a drink and Rouge eventually came to the conclusion that she was nowhere near the empire and wouldn't be going home any time soon. She ended up stuck with Roger, who she would eventually shoot. (But she does learn to like him, someday)
Day 5 Flowers
The first time Rouge had seen them, she felt her heart almost stop. There was a flower blooming out of her flames. Her rolling island of flames that reached for the sky in the breeze and swayed like grass in the wind. Swirls of fire, warmth and colors deeper than the falling crevices of flames that deepened to colors like blue, white and yellow as the sun.
The island wasn't all made of burning fire that never died, rocks of many beautiful colors, forged in the flames, made swirls and shapes all over the island like a painting made from the gods. What burning beauty Rouge had never had on her flaming island, was flowers.
Now here they bloom, near the heart of the island, in a deep pool of fire that ignited flames of pure white, and refreshed Rouge like water. A red hibiscus flower, flourished in between the flames. And Rouge looked at it with shock, what was it doing here? How did it get here? Rouge had only ever heard of flowers, and she saw some pictures from Roger, but she had never actually seen one on the island, close enough to touch.
She thought the flower beautiful but knew not what to do with it, leave it alone? Watch it until it went? Keep it company? And then Rouge had an idea, do what the mortal humans do, braid it into your hair!
Day 6 Sleeping
The curse said she would never wake up again, forever doomed to sleep years and eternities away. Rouge knew everything about it, she knew everything and anything about any curse, ever since she was 16 and a witch wanted revenge against the 'fairest of them all'. Rouge is 21 now, spending her birthday in tense silence with her (self proclaimed) knight Roger trying, trying still stubbornly trying to dispel a curse that is now hers. (Forever hers.)
Rouge had a life to live, she would not give up, but at the age of 21, at the stroke of midnight, the witching hour at hand, Rouge fell asleep, Roger by her side.
The young knight had searched with Rouge for a cure, going far and wide and their travels together were something  that Roger would always treasure, would love forever. After all it's not everyday you fall in love. And now here Roger sat, Rouges hand in his and wishing, wanting with everything that he could save the one he loves, wanting with everything that Rouge would wake up. But it was not to be, not until Roger found a certain letter from Rouge.
"Drink the potion and kiss me already you idiot, I love you too. Rogue." A grin larger than life settled on Roger's face. His Rouge was brilliant.
In a land far away, once upon a time, the fairest of them all, awoke with true love's kiss, ready to punch a witch in the face. (And also marry her love)
Day 7 Birthday
The first bar brawl Rouge ever got into was one that no one there will ever forget. IT started on Rouges 21st birthday. Rouge knew the bartender, Shakky, and a few of her more favoured customer, Roger and his crew. They were friends of Rogues and she was just ordering a round of drinks for them when a few marines decided to show up. At first there was no trouble between the pirates and marines, everyone knew Shakky would have wiped the floor with all of them if there was but then Rouge met a new rookie; his name was Garp.
Garp looked about Rogers age but was buffer than a rhinoceros, like if Whitebeard had a son with a giant, kid had some muscles, and everything went bad when he got drunk. When Garp got drunk all he remembered was Rouges fist breaking his nose. Garp went down like a ton of bricks. The bar quieted for a second before all hell broke loose.
A few suicidal marines went for Rouge, but Roger knew and loved Rouge so it would be a cold day in hell before he stopped defending her. As it turns out this batch of marines also defended their own. It was glorious the way Rouge took down men twice her size, dodging thrown sake bottles and flying fists.
Around several marines fell in love with her that day and those were only the ones that confessed, however all pirates at that bar were already in love with Rouge, so the marines couldn't so much as touch her. And that was the chaos of Rogues 21st birthday, which all ended with Rouge finishing the last of the marines, terrifying any conscious while also giving them a case of abruptly-in-love-with-Rouge-syndrome.
(Even though the pirates won, Shakky kicked them all out for ruining her bar (she is as terrifying as Rouge))

Writing Tips #9: The Moral Spectrum (Characterization Lesson)
Hello, writer friends, and welcome to another episode of Writing Tips! In today’s lesson, we’ll discuss characters and how to categorize them on a moral continuum.
There are several dominant models when it comes to a character’s morality. Most of you are familiar with the chaotic-neutral-lawful/good-neutral-evil categorization method. That schema will be relegated to its own post, as it adds an additional dimension to this topic which would distract from this lesson. For this post, we’ll be focusing solely on a good/evil continuum, without regard to how a given character sits on a lawful/chaotic continuum.
1. The Extremes: Imagine a sliding scale in which “good” and “evil” sit at opposite ends. For simplicity’s sake, we’ll make it a scale of one to ten, with “ten” representing ultimate good and “one” representing ultimate evil.
It’s rare for a character to achieve a perfect ten on the morality scale. Like most humans, characters typically have flaws which prevent them from being perfectly selfless and compassionate. However, these characters do exist and can serve a useful purpose in your story. For instance, an angel would most likely fit under the category of ultimate good. So would certain saints or benevolent gods. These characters are kind, charitable, and loving, exemplifying perfect morality.
On the other end of the scale, we have ultimate evil. It’s easier to find characters at this end of the scale than at the other end, as they can make for interesting villains. These characters are not only dangerous, but cruel and twisted. They’re the sort of people who would torture a puppy for amusement. Any hint of kindness or compassion they show is merely an attempt at manipulation. These characters can  quite justifiably be considered Complete Monsters.
Here’s the problem with characters who sit at either extreme: they can very easily become one-dimensional. Characters who score a ten on the morality scale can (quite justifiably) be accused of being too perfect. Which is not to say that you have to eliminate these extremes from your story. A Complete Monster can make a viable final boss for your characters to fight, and an angelic character can make an excellent friend and guide (though rarely a great protagonist).
Let’s look at The Dresden Files. We have the character Michael Carpenter. A brave and pious Knight of the Cross, he exemplifies all that is good about humanity (also, he fights monsters). He is an excellent supporting character and foil to Harry Dresden (wizard and narrator), but he lacks the internal conflict necessary for an engaging protagonist. There’s very little room for a character arc, because he’s already as close to an ideal human being as a character can reasonably be.
From the same series, we have the Denarians (people controlled by or cooperating with fallen angels), who fall under the category absolute evil. They at various points betray their supposed allies, steal a significant religious artifact, and torture a young girl (mostly for kicks).
Fittingly, the purpose of the Knights of the Cross is to fight (and try to redeem) the Denarians. This battle of good and evil is important to the overarching story within The Dresden Files, but it only becomes interesting when we see it mirrored in a much more personal way through Harry Dresden (morally, 5.5-8 depending on where you are in the series) as he struggles between choosing to accept the power offered to him by the Denarians or refusing that power at great expense to himself and his loved ones.
2. Morally Gray Characters: It’s much more common for a character to fall somewhere in the middle of the good/evil spectrum. Between notches four and six, you have your anti-heroes and sympathetic villains. Often, the primary difference between these categories is that we’re seeing the story through one character’s/group’s eyes instead of the other.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin (or Game of Thrones, for those of you who watch the HBO series) relies heavily on morally grey characters. Granted, these characters, if let loose in other works, would probably fall somewhere between a two and a four, but in fiction, morality is relative, and the gritty tone of the series means these otherwise reprehensible characters are middle-of-the-road relative to one another. While there are a few genuinely irredeemable characters (Ramsey Snow, Joffrey, The Mountain), most of the characters are simultaneously deeply flawed and in some way sympathetic. These characters have different goals, beliefs, and philosophies which put them at odds with each other, and there are differences in the relative morality of each character, but they are almost without exception some shade of gray.
In most books, your protagonist is going to be a lighter shade of gray (6-9), being somewhat flawed and occasionally selfish, but ultimately having the moral high-ground over the villains. Similarly, most villains will range from 2-5, though this will vary depending on whether they’re being set up for a redemption arc or if they’re a Complete Monster, as discussed above.
Let’s look at another example, this time from Avatar: the Last Airbender (yes, this series is going to be a major fixture of this Writing Tips series. It’s that good). Aang, our protagonist and arguably the most moral character in the series, sits at a solid nine. In his eyes, all life is precious, even that of a Complete Monster like Ozai. On several occasions, however, Aang acts with selfishness. In “Bato of the Water Tribe,” he hides a message from his friends’ father out of fear that they’ll abandon him. In “The Great Divide,” he resolves a conflict between two opposing tribes by telling them a false story which “corrects” their conflicting histories, instead of addressing the deeper issues fueling their animosity.
Katara, too, has her moments of moral compromise. In “The Waterbending Scroll,” she steals the titular scroll from a group of pirates because of her desperate desire to master waterbending. Later, in “The Southern Raiders,” when she gets a chance to confront the man who killed her mother, she bloodbends one man and nearly kills her mother’s murderer before deciding to show mercy. And though she spares the man’s life, she cannot bring herself to forgive him.
The villains in A:tLA are all darker shades of gray (with the exception of Ozai, who actually is a Complete Monster). While trying to restore his honor, Zuko steals an ostrich-horse, disguises himself as The Blue Spirit to undermine his rival in capturing the Avatar, and betrays his uncle. Yet he has sympathetic motivations. He wants to return home. He wants to regain his status as the crown prince. He wants his father’s love and acceptance. Eventually, Zuko chooses to side with the Avatar, completing what is arguably the most satisfying redemption arc in western animation. On the sliding scale, Zuko goes from a three to an eight--an impressive character arc by any standard.
Azula is a darker shade of gray than Zuko, coming in at about a two. She is ruthless, cunning, and manipulative. Yet in the finale, when we see her emotional break-down (resulting from the betrayal of the friends she abused/controlled for so many years), we do feel sorry for her. She is not redeemed, but there is enough vulnerability in her character that we are sympathetic to her fate, which is part of what makes her breakdown so powerful.
When conceptualizing your characters, it’s a good idea to have each character occupy a slightly different position on the moral scale, both for the sake of incorporating multiple perspectives and for the sake of sparking conflict between characters (even allies/friends). In a future post, we’ll discuss how to move a character from one part of the scale to another when writing a redemption arc or a fall from grace. In the meantime, I hope you’ve found this post helpful.

Now available in PDF and print from DriveThruCards: Our second card game, Fetch Quest!
Fetch Quest is a family-friendly cooperative deck-building game.

Playing time is approximately 60-90 minutes.

Yes! We have passed the first Stretch Goal in the Dark Eras 2 Kickstarter and we have added a Golden Age of Piracy Dark Era to the book. Thanks to much voting, we ‘re making that era featuring the Mage: The Awakening and Geist: The Sin-Eaters game lines.
Thanks to all of you who voted, especially if you took the time to vote on the second poll, too.
Now, we have a new poll up: this one is different than the last, as we’re asking folks to vote on one of three possible eras, but we haven’t linked any of them with specific game lines. Yet. They are:
King Arthur’s Britannia (400-500s C.E.) You’ve heard the stories of Lancelot and Guinevere, King Arthur and Mordred, Merlin and Morgana. Inspired by medieval romance, the Arthurian lives on and on. Get behind the myth, find the source of these tales, and adventure in Great Britain during the legendary King Arthur’s rule. For, in the Chronicles of Darkness, nothing is what it seems. The shadows we explore will expose darker secrets that follow King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table wherever they roam.
Epic of Gilgamesh (2100s B.C.E.) The Epic of Gilgamesh is believed to be the first surviving piece of literature. An epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia, the work features Gilgamesh (or Bilgamesh in Sumerian), a king of Uruk. Translated into multiple languages, the story highlights this king and Enkidu who initially opposes him. Although the pair have many adventures, and even go on to face Humbaba the Terrible, Gilgamesh eventually becomes obsessed with discovering the secret of eternal life. In the Chronicles of Darkness, Gilgamesh’s perilous journey is marked by its denizens, and in this Dark Era we’ll explore not only who they are, but what they do when Uruk’s king discovers them.
Jazz Age/Roaring ’20s (1920s C.E.) Following the end of World War I, the 1920s ushered in a new decade of American music, fashion, and art. In New Orleans, African and European musical styles were fused together to create jazz, and musical legends like Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Kid Ory toured the states. American youth rebelled, reveling in this new sound, smoking cigarettes, dancing the Charleston, and partying in long-waisted dresses while their elders decried the end of society. As soft saxophones played and velvety voices crooned, the twenties also woke up forgotten creatures, drawing them to New York, Chicago, and the fabled New Orleans. This is a time of awakening in the Chronicles of Darkness, and its stagnant denizens are on the move.
    Wraith20 art by Ron Spencer
This Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2 Kickstarter, even though it is nominally a Kickstarter for a book that’s a sequel, is still a chance to experiment with the way we do Kickstarters. Particularly since we have the first Dark Eras KS to work from.
To start with, each Era features two game lines. This isn’t just a play on Dark Eras Two, but is also us knowing we needed to keep the page count down compared to the out-size DE1, yet wanting folks to get plenty of Eras for their favorite lines. So: two game lines per Era.
We also have divided the book up between three developers rather than our structure for the first one. One uber-developer and all devs on deck for their respective lines was just way too unwieldy a process for a single book. It was a testament to Black Hat Matt McFarland’s long experience as a developer that the original Dark Eras book came together as fantastically as it did!
Then there is the fact, which I’ve written about before, that we haven’t started the actual writing of the Eras yet, although each of the three Devs has earmarked certain of the announced Eras as theirs, and no doubt are already thinking of how to approach them. We didn’t get them pre-written, even though we knew that approach might turn off some potential backers, because trying to shoe-horn in the added material from the KS rewards into already written text was just awkward and added a fair bit of extra time to the creation of DE1.
By waiting to start writing Dark Eras 2 until after the KS has run, we get to incorporate the material added by backers, who took the rewards that gave them the chance to alter and add to the Dark Eras earmarked for the book, organically into the writing process at its start. Not like before when it had to happen after the writers had already finished their sections.
Even the voting process has gone through some tweaking based on DE1. Our first vote, for which game lines to add to the Golden Age of Piracy, was one we made very similar to the voting in DE1. Even going so far as to pull back from the security set-up on the polling page to see if folks would “play nice”.
Now, we have added the tougher security measures (although we’re sure they mean little to folks who know how to bypass such things), a flipped around what we are voting for with the three Eras listed above, but not giving them game lines for the vote.
Basically, we want folks to keep having fun with these, to continue to get engaged with both the project and the KS process. And we want to explore how involved with actually determining the content our backers want to be. Kickstarter as a platform is actually continuing to evolve, and I know that a fair number of folks are getting tired of the KS “grind”.
So we keep looking at different kinds of projects and the different kinds of KSs that could go with them.
But don’t worry. Not every one of our KSs are going to be so experimental. In fact, as I look over the huge event horizon of Gen Con next month, the next three Kickstarters are slated to be Cavaliers of Mars, Changeling: The Lost 2nd Edition, and The Trinity Continuum (Core plus Aeon Core books).
And those all should be much more the sort of straightforward sort of KSs, even if we figure on having a few tweaks and surprises for you once we get to them!
Boat Battle art by Melissa Uran for EX3‘s Adversaries of the Righteous
One of our more gratifying Kickstarters is about to ship its rewards, and of course, I mean Pugmire. Although we’ve talked so much about the game that it might seem pretty much a standard project and Kickstarter for us, it really was and is extremely experimental. Everything from the subject matter, the sorts of Stretch Goal rewards, and so forth, was actually new territory for us.
And nowhere is more new for Onyx Path than implementing the Pugmire KSs goal of getting the game into game and book stores with a traditional print run. I mentioned last week about how the gang at Studio2 is going to be fulfilling the Kickstarter reward packages. But even more importantly, they’ll then be soliciting orders from distributors to get Pugmire into retail stores.
This is simply not something Onyx was ready to do for a long time, but now that we are, I’m glad we have Studio2 to work with on this. If this turns out to be a process that fits within the way we create our game worlds, then we are hoping to slowly send more and more books to Studio2 and from them into the friendly local game stores in your area!
Many Worlds, One Path.
BLURBS!
  KICKSTARTER!
Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras 2 has added the Golden Age of Pirates Dark Era, featuring the Mage: The Awakening and Geist: The Sin-Eaters game lines!
Now, help us decide on which Dark Eras and which game-lines should fill up this Prestige Edition book! We’re starting with The French Revolution for Vampire: The Requiem and Demon: The Descent, The Great War – Western Front for Geist: The Sin-Eaters and Werewolf: The Forsaken, Light of the Sun – Europe 1600s for Deviant: The Renegades and Mage: The Awakening, Seven Wonders of the Ancient World for Changeling: The Lost and Promethean: The Created, Rise of the Last Imperials – China for Mummy: The Curse and Hunter: The Vigil, and One Thousand and One Nights – Islamic Golden Age for Beast: The Primordial and Vampire: The Requiem.
We’re voting on which of these three Dark Eras to add into the book after our next Stretch Goal is met: King Arthur’s Britannia, the Epic of Gilgamesh, or the Jazz Age/Roaring 20s. Come back the Kickstarter and vote on your favorite!

The Titans’ Relics Must Be Destroyed!
Artifacts from the fallen titan Spiragos have been recovered, and forces are at work that would see them used for ill. The Dagger of Spiragos and the Ring of Spiragos are now in the player characters’ hands — and they must do what they can to rid Scarn of the foul relics of the titans, whatever the cost!
What Came Before
Dagger of Spiragos is a sequel to the 2014 Gen Con Scarred Lands Special Preview adventure, Gauntlet of Spiragos (available as a free download on DriveThruRPG. com and RPGnow.com). It is also the second adventure in the Spiragos Saga, with Ring of Spiragos, the dramatic finale, as the third and culminating title.
In Gauntlet of Spiragos, the PCs traveled to the legendary Chasm of Flies, where they discovered a tribe of spider-eye goblins who possessed relics of their fallen master, Spiragos. Now, with those items in hand, the PCs travel to the city of Fangsfall, where they must seek aid in destroying the foul objects.
But others wish to possess these items, too,
Sailing out of the dark, the V20 Dark Ages Companion PDF and physical book PoD versions are going on sale Wednesday on DriveThruRPG.com! http://ift.tt/2pX42dq
Travel the long roads and deep seas in search of power and experience danger, or tackle the wilderness to hunt monsters and face death. Settlements large and small dot the black expanse with the promise of sanctuary, life, and community. These bastions of civilization present cold comfort, when playing host to vampire warlords and sadistic Cainite faiths. Whether led by a Prince, a coordinated belief, or hounded by monsters from without and within — no domain is truly the same as another.
Dark Ages Companion includes:
• Domains scattered across the world, from small fiefdoms to massive cities. Bath, Bjarkarey, Constantinople, Rome, Mogadishu, and Mangaluru each receive coverage.
• Apocrypha including plot hooks, new Paths, and mysteries to explore in your games.
• A how-to guide on building a domain within your chronicle, including events and servants necessary to make a domain as functional or dysfunctional as you wish.
• A study on warfare in the Dark Ages period, so combat in your chronicles can gain authenticity and lethality.
From the Primordial to your Chronicles, Beast‘s Building a Legend has risen in PDF and PoD formats on DTRPG.com!
http://ift.tt/2u1BBkU
CREATING A CHRONICLE IS REWARDING…
…so why should the Storyteller have all the fun?
The whole troupe should get in on the action, making for a chronicle that reflects the preferences and predilections of all the players.
Building a Legend is a guide for doing exactly that — making a cohesive chronicle, starting with character creation, for Beast: The Primordial. It includes advice on creating Storyteller characters, folding in real world history, and populating the Primordial Dream.
From the massive Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras main book, we have pulled this single chapter, Dark Eras: Requiem for Regina (Vampire: The Requiem Elizabethan London 1593). We have shared the world with monsters for millennia. In Elizabeth’s London, vampires built their own empire brick by bloody brick while Elizabeth I cemented her grip on newly Protestant England. Carefully balancing demands from those with Catholic and Lutheran sympathies, she forged a police state. Yet London emerged as a thriving cultural center, and from the crucible emerged a Kindred society forever changed.

You may think that with a multitude of people coming, going, dying and running away, we’d be tired, done, or ready to give up. Instead, I find myself restless, looking for the next thing.  There’s always a next thing, and I for one am not yet ready to die.
– Elder Kincaid, Daeva Crone
This book includes:
• Detailed instructions on creating elder vampires, including how to base chronicles around them
• A look into the lives of elders, how they spend their nights, who they work with, and why including their roles in both their clans and covenants
• New Devotions, Merits, and Rituals for elder vampires
• The kinds of creatures that pose a threat to elder vampires, including Inamorata, Lamia, Sons of Phobos, a new elder conspiracy, and more
From the massive Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras main book, we have pulled this single chapter, Dark Eras: To The Strongest (Mage Death of Alexander 330-320 BCE). In the rise and fall of Alexander the Great’s Empire, armies marched and cultures clashed. In the birth pangs of Hellenistic civilization, Awakened sorcerers all over the ancient world met, fought, and joined together. In the chaos of Alexander’s assassination and the wars that followed, Cults became Orders amid conflicts still burning in the present day.

On sale in PDF and physical copy PoD versions on DTRPG!
From the massive Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras main book, we have pulled this single chapter, Dark Eras: Three Kingdoms of Darkness (Changeling and Geist China 220-280). Famine weakens the empire, and war splits it apart. It is an age of ambition and strife, where the hungry dead walk the earth in great numbers, and the Lost must rely on their own kingdoms. Warlords and commoners, ghost-speakers and orphans — who truly serves the Mandate of Heaven?
On sale in PDF and physical copy PoD versions on DTRPG! http://ift.tt/2rp8hPL
From the massive Chronicles of Darkness: Dark Eras main book, we have pulled this single chapter, Dark Eras: The Wolf and the Raven (Werewolf and Geist Vikings 700-1100). The Viking expansion across Europe comes at a pivotal time in history, as new faiths rose to challenge the old and new ways threatened to sweep ancient tradition aside. The Forsaken sail with raiders and explorers, seeking new lands to claim and new spirits to conquer, while Sin-Eaters walk the battlefields bringing the honored dead to their final rewards. The world grows larger and more dangerous by the day, but there are great rewards for those brave enough to fight for them.

We dream, and we tell stories. We dream of love and the sort of person who might complete us. We dream of horror and wake breathless. We dream of magic, of flying through the air, or breathing underwater. We dream of fantastic vistas and amazing monsters.
We dream, and then we wake, and we tell stories. Our dreams create the Kithain, the changelings. Our stories are sustenance.
