Listen: Laszlo found the cure for vampirism. He found the cure, and doesn’t know what to do about it. It caused him to shut down for 3 weeks because now that he’s found it? It’s caused a malfunction.
Why would he shut down? Why wouldn’t he just give it to Guillermo and move onto his next hobby?
Well….
Laszlo, who says time and time again how much he loves being a vampire, mister “I became a vampire to suck blood and fuck forever”, is actually the one in the house with the most connections to humanity. His knowledge of human culture, his human friends, his life as Jackie Daytona… for fuck’s sake, his favorite hobby is GARDENING.
A foray into the sun for one day made him radiant, the smile on that face was priceless, but that was just a one time thing. He could, in his mind, still be a vampire and enjoy one day in the sun. But once he found the cure, that could be every day.
His entire identity (to himself) is being a vampire, and he is madly in love with a woman who, i do not believe for once second, would even entertain the idea of taking a cure for herself. Nadja LOVES being a vampire through and through, but does Laszlo, really?
His hypnosis skills aren’t the best, he can’t do telekinesis or pyrokinisis. He can’t fly as high as the others. He doesn’t claw up walls. He doesn’t have any special powers that we know of. I don’t think it’s because he’s deficient at all, I think it just simply doesn’t interest him. Beyond yelling “BAT!”, and making the most of that infinite libido, does he truly revel in vampirism?
So yeah… I think he’s found the cure and doesn’t know where to go next. I think he feels tempted to take it, and it’s fracturing his identity.
We will see if I’m wrong next week.

Every time I watch the pilot episode of wwdits, the moment where Laszlo is playing the Harpsichord, stops, and says “I call that ‘Nadja’s Theme’” simultaneously catches me off guard and makes me want to cry. It felt random/like it wasn’t a big moment when I first watched it, but after seeing the series several times, it’s one of the first moments that we see how much it’s clear that Laszlo adores Nadja and get a sense for Laszlo’s personality/core beneath his “I’m here to suck and fuck and don’t give a shit” exterior. Music as an expression of that in his and Nadja’s relationship gets played out further in the musical episodes where Laszlo speaks to how he was making music and then met Nadja who was the perfect lyricist to his composing. In those episodes, it’s a hilarious plot point to see them perform the songs and implicate themselves in music history by positioning these characters as having written “Come on Eileen,” etc. as well as (from what I’ve seen in cast interviews) a great opportunity for Natasia and Matt to improv and be silly (especially w Matt’s music career), but it’s also so meaningful and beautiful as something Laszlo does with and for the people he loves the most (Nadja, primarily, and then “Colin Robinson” in s4). Especially since it’s established that Laszlo has a hard time expressing his affection for his housemates in words (for ex. when they’re in the well in s1, when they’re all reunited in s4, when he and Nandor make up in the Pine Barrons episode) but still reciprocates their feelings of love/care for him.

*spoiler warning*
You’re all wrong, the three vampires intend to watch the Barbie movie, until Nandor overhears Guillermo order a ticket for Oppenheimer and decides he wants to watch the movie with him. Guillermo says he won’t like it, Nandor takes personal offence and insists that he come, Guillermo concedes. Nadja and Laszlo go to see Barbie, Nandor and Guillermo see Oppenheimer. Nandor spends the first half complaining about how bored he is and “where are the explosions Guillermo? You said there were explosions”, Guillermo spends the first half shushing him. He is also definitely using some old school moves on Guillermo, he does the yawn-hug trick, which doesn’t land well, “If you need more space, you can move Nandor”. When the explosions do come, he tells Guillermo if he gets scared he can hold his hand. Nandor is restless from boredom and Guillermo decides takes pity on him and they switch cinemas, catching the very end of the barbie movie. Laszlo likes the outfits, Nandor is particularly affected by Barbie choosing to be a human and Nadja breaks down so hard at the womanhood montage that she’s almost escorted out.
They accidentally leave Colin Robinson in the cinema, where he has been sucking the joy out of people at the arcade.

Laszlo cares SO MUCH and it isn't a new development in season 5, he's ALWAYS cared that much. Who he extends that care to may change over time, but like. In season 1 we see the lengths he went to trying to guard Nadja's happiness. He's killed Jeff god knows how many times, and it wasn't out of jealousy! Not with him and Nadja out here fucking and sucking everyone and anyone happily and openly. It was because having Jeff around always made Nadja unhappy eventually, and he hated that.
He gives his sappy speech at the orgy because he cares more about expressing his love for Nadja than he does about a lot of sex, despite being one of the horniest characters ever to grace the screen.
We see that he's managed to form a sincere attachment to Sean, and is deeply distressed at the thought of killing him. All the caveats that come with him being a vampire apply, of course, but he's still the first one in the house to form a sincere attachment to someone OUTSIDE of the house. And he LOVES Sean! He's always so delighted to help him in any way he can, goes out of his way to help get Sean out of the messes he gets himself into, NEVER judges him for it. He just LIKES him and accepts him for everything he is, and enjoys being there for him.
In season 3, he spends all this time with Colin Robinson, who he doesn't even like that much, bonding with him and trying to show him a good time, because he knows he's going to die soon. He wants to make Colin's remaining life as nice as possible. He wants to be there for him at the end. He prioritizes that, again, the feelings of this person he cares so much about, on his birthday and final day, over power and prestige among the wider vampire community. He initially refuses to ever go back to England because his wife was snubbed there, and he loves her SO MUCH.
Even what he did to Guillermo was out of care for Nadja. Deeply misguided, for sure, and not showing much concern for Guillermo at that point. But insert vampire caveats, the point is he CARES and tries his best to show it.
We then see him doing his best, with really no tools or skills, to raise baby Colin. Asking for help, even, when he feels he's doing it poorly. Setting aside his own expectations and even sharing memories of his own father to try and be what baby Colin needs. His whole life revolves around that kid all of season 4.
And then season 5 with Guillermo. He's the first one to notice something is off, which to me says he was keeping an eye on Guillermo. Maybe because they bonded more in season 4. Maybe because he was worried Guillermo would take the loss of baby Colin as hard as he did. But he notices.
And then when he finds out the truth, he keeps Guillermo's secret and spends months trying to help him. Despite Guillermo having done something he finds repugnant. He actually gets so invested in helping that it leaves him catatonic for days when he realizes he can't (because let's be real, that was in no way about organizing books). He then steps in to stop Guillermo's soft spot for Nandor and his trust in him from getting him killed (and secondarily, from leading to Nandor doing something he knows he'll regret). He KEEPS trying to look after Guillermo even after Nandor finds out.
He's also the one best able to give the Guide what she needs, regardless of how sincere (and I do think it was at least somewhat sincere, I can't imagine he would bestow backside compliments he didn't mean under any circumstances). He may not have decided she's one of his people yet, but he knows how to recognize what she needs and give that to her, which is more than the others are capable of in that moment.
I dunno man. Laszlo doesn't always show it well or get it right, but he cares and tries so terribly hard.

Something I adore about wwdits is the fact that they seem to suck almost on purpose at writing normal, functional human relationships, but absolutely EXCEL at the batshit weird and unusual ones.
Nadja and Laszlo have the most functional, and in fact they're a downright model couple. But they aren't in any way 'typical'; they're poly, they're bi4bi, they're far hornier than most married couples we see in media. And they're amazing.
I think the best illustration of this is Freddie vs Nandermo (yes I'm a Freddie episode apologist no I will not back down). Freddie and Guillermo are presented as the milquetoast, "normal" relationship Guillermo should be seeking. They have their own problems of course, Freddie's self-centered nature being a major one, but those issues are quiet. They're overall presented as extremely normal. But... they have NO CHEMISTRY. You could blame the acting (which I definitely think was purposeful), but the writing especially does not carry it. See: "you're such a bean freak babe".
Meanwhile, Nandermo is SO ENTERTAINING. And the writers play it up to its limit. They get the audience invested in their messy, codependent, fucked up little relationship in a way they're never able to capture with a "normal" relationship. Not only do they have the chemistry, but a big part of it is just the fact that they're a comedy duo first and foremost. They're funny! And we want them to fuck way more than we want Guillermo and Freddie to!
Weird and unusual relationships are far more interesting in a comedy setting than the healthy ones with no conflict we expect, and wwdits takes full advantage of that.

Nadja is out here like "haha, they think my husband is this mythical perverted oaf who gets reincarnated constantly and brings good luck" but I posit that Laszlo is the King of Pigs.
We know that the two of them have been back to Antipaxos together (most likely more than once) and we know that Laszlo has been around for centuries and constantly changes his look. We know that he is a perverted oaf, but one that means very well and usually manages to turn things around in his favor. He's practically a fokloric trickster figure, if we're all being real with each other.
So why can't he actually be one? My theory is that Laszlo's periodic appearances in Greece/Antipaxos led to these stories being told in the first place. He is a trickster figure with magical powers. He is a trickster figure that exists outside of social norms. He is a trickster figure whose horniness, selfishness, and stupidity get him into trouble but whose wiles get him back out of it.
And all the stories are true! He really does bring good luck to those around him because he usually does help try to help humans in the end. (Go Bucks!)
Gosh. They're out here telling Jack tales about Laszlo and I love that for him. Stories never die and neither does he. He's here to suck blood and fuck forever, and humans will always tell stories of the luck he brings. :')

Guillermo tells us how to feel.
Like, consistently. He is the closest thing we have to an audience surrogate and HE tells us what our baseline expectations should be based on his reaction to the world. Luring virgins to a house of vampires to be murdered? All in a day's work! Chopping them up into bits and burying them in the backyard? Gross, but necessary! Re-deading your ex-wives in a Bachelor parody? Morally questionable but I'm not gonna stop you. Hypnotizing a man so many times his brain explodes and he dies? Sounds sad but can't talk, I'm embezzling and committing fraud atm. WWDITS is close to being an anti-comedy like IASIP or Seinfeld because the main characters are all awful people who commit terrible atrocities, but we DO care about them and their happiness because we are given that baseline to work from and know what to take seriously and what to laugh at.
The reason s4e9 felt so cruel was because Guillermo responded to it that way. Because HE was hurt and HE was upset and the last shot of the episode was his heart breaking on screen!! We are SUPPOSED to feel how he feels!! All season things have been getting better for him; he has been more appreciated and respected and has taken more control of his life and now the rug is pulled out from under him again. He/we are left wondering: Guillermo, what now? Is all this still worth it? Is it time for you to leave?
The vampires, as a rule, NO NOT CARE ABOUT HUMANS. They're livestock and free labor and occasional entertainment, and that's the way it's always been. (We haven't even talked about the fact that Nadja killed Sofia Coppola 😂😂😂) Vamps are too long-lived and jaded and used to killing to live for it to be any other way. Humans are playthings!! Unfortunately, that includes Nandor's wives. It includes Marwa, it includes Guillermo's family, and it includes Freddie. But it's starting to NOT include Guillermo.
Like Nandor, we are supposed to FEEL THE GAME ENDING. He was having fun, making a new human to play with because he was bored of his old one and getting to spend time with his best…man and literally could not compute that any of this would be upsetting to Guillermo. Because why would it? They're only toys, they can always get more. (Here, Guillermo is already held separate and above other humans)
But Guillermo was upset! He was angry! He didn't think it was fun, he didn't think it was a game, and this human was IMPORTANT to him and we see Nandor falter, stumble over his words, get quiet and soft and ashamed. The comedy is over and he stops having fun. And he does his best (best is debatable but he is very stupid) to fix it!!
Idk if these events will be specifically addressed next ep because we have important Colin things to do and there had to have been a decent time skip between Freddie leaving and Memo going to London, but I want to point out that THIS IS THE DARKEST HOUR MOMENT. Nadja is losing her club, Laszlo is losing his boy, Colin is losing his youth, Nandor lost his wife/boytoy and Guillermo's trust, and Guillermo lost his boyfriend and got his heart broken for the upteenth time. Things SUCK FOR EVERYONE right now - and that's the point!! Ep 9 of season 3 ended with Colin Robinson DYING. Next ep, things will start to look up. Right before something insane happens that makes everything SIGNIFICANTLY worse and leaves us on a year-long cliffhanger! 😃 And I for one am excited to see it lmao
Tumblr media
(Also Marwa sidenote bc look how they massacred my girl:
I will miss Marwa and I'm sad about her (I know not everyone was fond of her like I was lol but idk if the writers expected anyone to feel a way about her regardless), and I'm left thinking "is this even Marwa?" If she has none of her own memories or body or personality left, can we even consider it her? Does Marwa no longer exist? May be the best outcome for her mental state if she now exists only in 1300s Al Qolindar again lol. But if the wishes get reversed or something else happens to return her to Marwadom I'm hopeful she will pull a Derek and return one day!! Wwdits is well known for bringing back one-off characters, and Marwa was a season regular in like 7/10 episodes so I'm not giving up on her yet... My fanart will continue.)

wwdits s5 spoilers below
I was so deeply invested in season 3 of wwdits that every subsequent episode that releases just kind of makes me feel… sad? Nothing has since hit the high of Wellness Center and I don’t think anything will.
For me, that was the pinnacle of their storytelling because it combined humor with the genuine ways in which this dysfunctional group of people have come to care about each other. Nandor feels divorced from his humanity and is looking to find ways to regain that aspect of himself. Guillermo can’t understand because he’s fixated on becoming a vampire to fill the void inside himself where he feels self-conscious, overlooked, unimportant. It’s funny to see these genuine, emotional character moments butt heads with a vaporwave 80s aerobics cult. They expertly balanced character development that had been building throughout season 3 with a bonkers premise and it ended up very touching and very satisfying. And then, well. Season 4. It was frustrating, first of all, to see the climax of Season 3 completely swept aside in the first minute of the premiere. This season prioritized episodic, unserious episodes that had no lasting character growth, only to emphasize in the finale that nothing changes and nothing matters. You can’t make that your artistic statement for season 4 when you’ve shown your audience three seasons of dynamic relationships being built and reforged and changed in unique ways! Season 4 and even Season 5 continue to wipe the slate clean again and again. Hypnosis, Djinn wishes, other forms of deus ex machina utilized to undo everything magically and inorganically. There were no stakes for Colin’s death or rebirth, no lasting impact on the relationship between Laszlo and Colin from a season showcasing a very different dynamic between them. Nandor is petulant and rude to Guillermo in irritating ways, as if they had never built a tenuous respect and trust and eventually affection for one another. Does Guillermo care about his family, does he crave their approval, only to have him vaguely continue to push them away after what was supposed to be an emotional coming out episode? Why is Nadja appointed as a leader on the London council only to immediately abandon this position for a wanton night club idea? (Which is then abandoned again in favor of… I’m not really sure what her goals are this season? Vague mentions of a hex with unclear affect on her life.) The audience just has to sit with this continuous lack of narrative resolution.
And it sucks, man. I think it’s a mess. It’s unsatisfying. I see Season 5 trying to incorporate and juggle more plot-dense episodes and they end up feeling too long and weirdly overworked and like all of these ideas are coming too late to feel impactful.
I’ll say I really don’t like Guillermo becoming a vampire, or half-vampire or whatever is happening. I think it absolutely ruins his character arc of finding strength and value in being a human being—with kickass cool Van Helsing abilities even. It would have been way cooler to parallel Guillermo’s realization that he cherishes his own innate humanity with Nandor wanting to regain that humanity he felt he lost over centuries. At this point, I don’t understand what either of them want or need or feel or anything. And the rest of the cast feel like b-plot set dressing.
Well, that’s enough for now I guess. Every episode I just feel like… why did they write this this way. Of course, I’m sure every element of conflict will be magically undone and ironed smooth at the end of Season 5 as it always is and we’ll start season 6 with zero carryover or growth. Again.

Personally I’m hoping season 5 starts with Guillermo busting into the house like “see I didn’t even need you to turn me Nandor!! I got it done myself >:3” and Nandor promptly calling up the djnn, and being all “my poor friend does not realize what he has done!! A terrible curse!! I want the curse of vampirism gone!!!!” But he doesn’t think anything through bc he’s an idiot, the djnn takes it upon himself to remove the curse of vampirism from Nandor too
This sets off a season long arc of Guillermo teaching Nandor how to be human, while Nandor works through his issues with mortality and loneliness, as well as learning how much it can fucking suck to be human (bonus points if Guillermo gets him a job at Panera bread or as nadja and laszlos familiar). Over time he comes to miss being a vampire, but does end up really liking being on level ground with Guillermo and FINALLY figuring out he’s in love with him. We get a confession scene sort of similar to the season 3 finale, but it’s Nandor asking if Guillermo would like want to be a vampire again but WITH him this time, together forever type shit
And Guillermo’s like “I mean of course I wanna be a vampire but are you sure??” And nandors like “yeah I am eternerity is much less scary if Im doing it with you, let me go ask nadja or laszlo to turn me real quick so I can turn you!”But Guillermo stops him, and goes to them instead so he can get turned first and then!!! We get to see GUILLERMO turn NANDOR as a complete reversal of their dynamic!!

Here Comes Your Man
Guillermo stood on the deck next door, overlooking his vampire roommates minus Colin Robinson.
“What are you doing out here?”
“What does it look like we are doing Gizmo! We are swimming!” Nadja said harshly.
“Sean is on vacation and we like his pool.” Laszlo replied.
Nandor was dead to rights, floating on his stomach, his face underwater.
“Get naked, get in!” Laszlo said and Guillermo’s face blanched.
“Naked? Are you naked in there?” He asked, glancing over at Nandor’s body. He was sporting the pants he often worked out in at the gym.
“Of course!” Laszlo grinned. “The good lady wife and I were having sex in the hot tub.”
Guillermo glanced at the hot tub, a look of disgust on his face.
“We were just about to leave. I think Nandor’s double dead.” Nadja said and Laszlo splashed water at the other man, scaring him into surfacing.
Guillermo watched as Nandor surfaced, blowing water out of his face and flipping his wet hair back. Water was dripping down his broad shoulders and his muscular chest. Guillermo sucked in a deep breath and looked down at the deck.
“Guillermo! Get in!” He cheered. “Swim with us!”
“We are going inside.” Nadja said. “Time for shower sex!”
Guillermo looked away from the couple as they climbed out. Nandor swam to the side closest to Guillermo and looked up at him. He crossed his arms on the side of the pool and rested his chin on them.
“Come swimming with me. Laszlo and Nadja are no fun, they just kiss each other the whole time.”
“I don’t think I want to.”
“Please?” Nandor pouted. “Get in, or I’ll throw you in.” He grabbed a nearby palm sized ball. “Sean has a volleyball net! I bet you can’t beat me!”
“I have so much more to do than play pool volleyball with you.”
Nandor jumped up, propelling himself over the edge to grab at Guillermo’s ankle. The younger man cried out and stepped back, falling on his butt on the deck. “Get in!”
Guillermo kicked at Nandor’s hand. “Alright, hang on! I don’t want to get everything wet.”
Nandor moved back to hanging on the side of the pool, chin resting on his arms as he watched Guillermo empty his pockets. He kicked off his shoes and looked at Nandor.
“Can you like…not stare at me while I undress?”
There was a goofy look on Nandor’s face suddenly, a big grin. “Guillermo are you going to swim in the nudes?”
“No!”
“I’ll get nude with you!”
“NO!” Guillermo exerted, his face red. “Keep your pants on!”
He pulled off his sweater and kicked off his pants until he was in his button down shirt and black boxers. Nandor made a come hither motion with his fingers. “C’mon! Come play with me!” He said as he tossed the volleyball at him.
Eventually Guillermo was up to his chest in the water, his shirt half soaked. “Four!” Nandor shouted, smacking the ball. “Wrong sport!” Guillermo reminded him for the second time that night as he sidestepped, nearly getting smacked in the face with the ball. Thinking about it, he took his glasses off and laid them gently on the deck.
He hit the ball back and Nandor hit it, knocking it far out of the pool. Guillermo sighed in relief.
“Guillermo go get it.”
“You go get it!”
Nandor huffed, arms crossing over his chest. “Fine! That game was boring anyway!”
He moved and ducked into the water, slipping under the net and into Guillermo’s side of the pool. He surfaced and lay on his back. “Float with me, Guillermo. Look at the stars, they are so pretty!”
Guillermo did as he wished, stretching out and laying backwards. Nandor was right, the stars were beautiful tonight.
Even underwater, he could hear piano music from their house next door. Without Nadja’s singing, Lazslo’s playing was beautiful.
He felt movement near his outstretched fingers and he could barely believe it when he felt Nandor’s fingers intertwined with his.
The two floated in silence and Guillermo dared not move, afraid that he’d ruin the moment and Nandor would retract his hand.
Nandor’s voice was muffled with Guillermo’s ears being below the line of water, but he clearly heard Nandor’s quiet laugh. “We are like sea otters.”
“Sea otters?” He asked, his voice sounding too loud in his own ears.
“They hold hands so they don’t float away from each other.”
Guillermo gulped down the anxiety, gathering all his courage to ask quietly, “Are you afraid I’ll float away, Master?”
He felt the water move next to him and Nandor moved upright in the water, letting his fingers slip from Guillermo’s. The younger man instantly regretted asking the question. He let himself get too comfortable, Nandor was going to close himself off again like he always did. He took a deep breath and righted himself in the water as well.
“You have before and I never want you to leave me again.”
Taking a deep breath again, Guillermo had to take his eyes off of the vampire. He watched the underwater lights dancing in the ripples coming from the filter.
This would be like it always was. Deep confessions, a crumb of two of affection. Then Nandor would be the stubborn jackass he always is and things will go back to how they always were. And he knew he’d stay, because those crumbs of affection were enough to make sparks in his heart.
As dumb as he was to stay, he kind of liked the electricity he felt when Nandor touched him.
He jumped, slightly startled when Nandor did touch him. The other man’s fingertips brushed the wet curls from his forehead and for a moment, they locked eyes. Nandor bit his lip lightly and withdrew his hand, pretending to be as interested in the lights in the pool as Guillermo had been.
“I’m not going anywhere.” Guillermo confessed, his throat suddenly dry and too tight.
“Good, because I need someone to shine my shoes. I’m no good at it.” Nandor proclaimed, sloshing past Guillermo.
The human let out a frustrated sigh, his hands balling into fists beneath the water. “Fucking guy!” He mumbled beneath his breath

So baby vampires have dummy's (or pacifiers) or do they rely on there fingers
Like laszlo continuely guiding nadjas fingers out of her mouth and she being upset because she can't suck on something and laszlo trying his hardest to comfort her like "darling I know you're in pain but your going to be in so much pain if you bite your fingers"
They absolutely do!!!!
Baby Nadja will munch on pretty much everything she can put her mouth on
Her hair, her fingies, her clothes, her toys, the TV controller, Guillermo's phone, Nandor's favorite plushie (this day was a hard day)
She has a pacifier, but she's a pretty strong muncher so it's only a sleepy baby option, she prefers sturdier teethers
Tumblr media
Nandor is always with his paci by his side so is pretty hard to find him biting other things, but he does bite his clothes now and then
Also this is the perfect opportunity for me to say that Nandor has one of these and it's the cutest thing ever

I tweeted this earlier but felt like I had to share it here too:
Everyone says Laszlo is selfish and yeah he is BUT he stayed back to take care of a baby and will do anything for his wife yet Nandor ruins literally every good person’s life because he truly only cares about himself.
Nandor would have NEVER stayed back to take care of Colin or befriended him if he knew he was dying he can’t even respect Guillermo who he considers his closest companion? Laszlo would never do anything to hurt Sean and y’all still think he’s the most selfish vamp? Bullshit.
And to expand more:
Laszlo has shown that he would do anything for the people he cares about. Nandor claims to care about Marwa or Guillermo but has treated them both like complete shit. I just can’t believe people still shit on Laszlo for being selfish but are okay with Nandor doing what he does?? Guillermo deserves SO much better. I don’t even want them to be together because Nandor is so fucking awful to him.
Marwa’s ending sucked so bad. She also deserved so much better. The women on this show are so often pushed to the side and it’s frustrating as fuck. I love this show so soooo much and I am truly loving season 4 too but I am just so upset about last nights episode. I genuinely feel like EVERY character gets pushed to the side for Nandor and for what? For him to be the absolute worst? Plsssss

look, i know we all love guillermo, and we all love that he finally left nandor, and we all want him to get whatever he wants.
but you are getting that being a vampire is terrible, right? like the entire franchise is about how much being a vampire blows chunks. it’s the entire point of it. “vampires look cool on paper but actually being a vampire is boring and it sucks”.
and i think this season exemplifies this more than anything. it seemed like things were changing, like they were moving up. nadja had a cool successful nightclub, nandor got the life partner he was looking for, even laszlo found unexpected fulfillment in parenting- laszlo! the guy who was the happiest just being there! even he got something he never realized he wanted.
and then they all lost it, and things went back to the status quo. because that’s what being a vampire is. it’s the same damn thing over and over for centuries. it’s a boring slog. you grow jaded and desensitized to the world, human around you die and the only other friends you have left are other bored, desensitized assholes like you.
i hope guillermo doesn’t become a vampire permanently. i hope that nandor uses his last wishes to turn guillermo human again. and i hope he does it for guillermo, because guillermo doesn’t deserve this existence.

Thoughts on the theory that familiars just can't be turned/it's fully illegal to turn them? (also if you haven't already said, what's your most prominent theory for why the turning is going Badly)
Um... well, idk that I'm convinced by that just because Benji exists. Even if you argue that he wasn't a familiar anymore at that point, the fact that Nandor still hovered around Guillermo nervously like he was actually gonna get turned by Celeste makes me think it's a thing that can happen. It just... doesn't. Like, there wouldn't be a whole thing about how humiliating it would be if someone else turned your familiar if it weren't a thing that could happen.
My two cents, anyway.
My primary guess is that it's just the slayer blood. I get the idea that it might be mental, but I don't think that can account for all of it. I think a lot of vampires would have been turned nonconsensually or have mixed feelings about being vampiric, and that doesn't seem to have stopped them from being turned or getting powers.
What's happening to Guillermo seems to be totally foreign to both Laszlo and the familiar vet, which makes me think that this must be fairly unique to Guillermo. Since I'm sure he's not the only one with weird, mixed feelings, I don't think it can be just that. I think his blood is a better bet, like it gives him some measure of resistance to the vampiric bite that's slowing things down.
That said, it's also possible that it's a combination of both. I'm thinking of something kind of like Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, where she was so powerful that her conceptualization of her self and her own lack of self-esteem made it so she didn't have power. She subconsciously stripped herself of power because she believed she didn't have it, and her magical power was strong enough to accomplish that.
So perhaps mental blocks wouldn't usually be a big issue but because Guillermo has so much power, he's able to subconsciously control the transformation.
