i just found this picture and like. guys. i’m so not okay about this. the LIGHTING. the way they’re looking at each other. he’s so in love with her it’s so cute. she just seems so confused to me ngl like denying that she wants him, wants rand rather than the dragon reborn yk (don’t @ me for any of this im still a wot noob). the light behind him, the bringer of light. but all we can see of him is covered in the same lighting as her. pretty boy is so gone on her. as well he should be. the darkness is all around him but still the light is there, shining on him. honestly i can see him going over to the dark for her, if moiraine hadn’t interrupted her whole aol sex weave thing and she’d been able to tell him who she was on her own terms. this pic just seems to me what they could have been, in another timeline. he’d stay loyal to her as long as she was honest with him and stayed by his side. which is her endgame, ruling at his side. she was forced to push down everything soft about her, to destroy mierin and become lanfear, become the stuff of legends. but with him she isn’t mierin and she isn’t lanfear, she is selene. someone in between the wunderkind who lost everything drilling the bore and the monster who’d stop at nothing to get her love back. someone who can give and take, push and pull.

they could have been two people in love, but the light demanded a leader, and every great story needs its villain.

The way I COMPLETELY forgot about that Lanfear and Liandrin scene in my meltdown over last night's episode because of how good everything else going on was, and yet that scene was ALSO a standout banger. The line 'Men hurt us and yet we love them anyways'- could there be a more succinct description of Lanfear's core conflict in her own mind? In her world, Lews Therin is that drug she just can't quit, that love that takes everything from her and yet it is love and she can't let it go. And how much easier would life be if she could? How much more clear her path to power, to control, to conquest of the Creator and the Dark One both, if only she could let go her love for Lews Therin?

And yet she can't. Three thousand years, a bore drilled into reality itself, and a war that ended in the ruination of her world, and still she loves him. In her mind it is her fatal flaw, a weakness she will never be rid of: not her selfish pride or her callous cruelty or her bent towards bloody vengeance. Her love to someone that has hurt her in a way no else ever can.
