Why Did I Choose My URL?: Back when I was more of an atla blog, I was looking for a semi-canon url, so I chose my url from one of Admiral Zhao’s quotes from the Book One finale, The Siege of the North: 

“The Fire Nation will for generations tell stories about the great Zhao who darkened the moon! They will call me Zhao the Conqueror! Zhao the Moon Slayer!”

Following: 278 Followers: 677 Favorite Colors: Green, purple, gold. Also black and grey if I stop kidding myself about the color of most of my clothes and belongings. Average Hours of Sleep: 4 or 5 on school nights. I suck and I’m a chronic nighttime reader. If I’m allowed to sleep naturally, it’s more like 10. Lucky Number: None. But I really dig multiples of three. Especially 3^3. Instruments: None. Used to play piano as a kid before my teacher literally disappeared without a trace. What Am I Wearing?: A grey shirt and pajama pants. How Many Blankets I Sleep With: One. I sleep on top of a comforter for some reason though. Dream Job: Phonetician. Specifically involving language documentation, probably of something in the Sino-Tibetan family. My second major after linguistics is Chinese Mandarin so I’d ideally like to work in the Sinosphere where I’d at least be able to communicate in the majority language. Dream Trip: Svalbard! Also treriksröset (’Three Country Cairn’ is what Wikipedia tells me the English is but it sounds weird so let’s...not do that). It’s the place where Finland, Sweden, and Norway meet and there’s a little cairn there to mark it. Favorite Food: Pot pies, sushi, and bubble milk tea. Nationality: Dual American/Swedish. I was born/live in the US but have Swedish citizenship through my father. Favorite Song As of Now: “Black Eyes” by Radical Face.

YEAH DUDE!!!! i love a good Romance and the show delivers beyond all rightful expectations. it comes with a fair amount of cw’s and caveats, but by all means deals with its heavier subject matter really really well and is backed by an awesome crew of women (the episode writers are women half of the time, as are ep directors, so an episode that wasn’t either written or directed by a woman is rare) 

also imo it has the best (straight) sex ever committed to film. no ifs ands buts or hyperbole about it. 

and if nothing else the setting and costuming is so good that the whole thing is entirely transporting, especially if you’re interested in 18th C. scottish history

im(honest)o, it’s a gorgeous send-up to the Romance genre as a whole that celebrates its best elements (adventure, sex/sensuality, independent heroines, etc) while critiquing the things it often fails at (dealing w/ SA too flippantly, lack of communication/buildup in relationships, poor historical accuracy) and ends up delivering a really compelling narrative about agency and the integration of trauma while also making me cry my eyes out over heterosexuals
