Hi, need some advice
I’m 28 and my wife is 26, we’ve been married for 4 years and she’s wants a baby. She asked during our first year of marriage but I said no because I thought we were to young and I wasn’t financially stable enough, but honestly there were just excuses. She recently asked again and I don’t know what to say. I think we’re both old enough, I make great money at my current job, we have the space, but part of me is scared. What if I’m a bad parent. My parents were not the best, my dad was in the military and almost never around when he was home, and my mom left whenever my dad was home and would only show up when he was deploying. I work in a corporate setting so I make well over 6 figures, but I’m gone almost 3 to 4 months of the year due to business deals and meetings. And I don’t wanna be like my parents and never there for my kid. I wanna give my kid everything I didn’t have but I’m scared I’ll just end up like my parents( My dad). My wife has been so supportive of me and has helped me get to where I am now and I feel like the least I could due is give her baby, but I don’t know how to tell her how I’m feeling about it.
Wanting to have and raise kids is the first and best step to becoming a good parent. If you did not want kids or you were hesitating because you did not want the committment of children it would be a whole different thing. If you don't want kids don't have kids. If you are happy at the thought of raising a family and the work seems worth it and something you and your wife can handle together then absolutely move forward.
We are not destined to be our parents or repeat their faults, especially when we are aware of the mistakes they might have made, whether intentional or accidentally.
As far as travel is concerned, kids can handle that especially in this age of technology and things like zoom, facetime etc. I know families in which on parent travels quite a bit and they have built in to their routine Marco Polo videos, zoom calls and even letter writing as a way to stay engaged and have fun connecting without little kids getting too bored.
Your wife should have lots of on ground support in your absence. Having a built in (or two or three) emergency sitter just in case is a great relief. Make sure you have a good pet boarding facility and are in good standing if you have dogs or cats so that if something were to arise she has back up when you are away. Putting in place these kinds of support take a lot of worry off the table. A cleaning service can help as well as a decent list of good places she can call for things like car problems, plumbing and other household repairs.
Take time from your job (you probably get adoption or maternity leave even if you are not the birth mom) to bond with an new arrival, baby or not. The first few months are important to establish a relationship with both new borns or older kids in the case of adoption or foster.
When you are home you don't have to over compensate for your absence. Your child and wife will have a routine in place, don't disrupt that too much. It will stress you and them out. Just becasue you have been gone you don't need to "make up lost time" if you have been communicating with your family while away. Make sure you take time for your wife and don't feel guilty for getting a baby sitter once in a while, you still need your intimate connection (grown up time) with each other.
Lots of families are healthy and happy with both parents working 40 plus hours and barely making ends meet. If creating and nuturing a family is what you both want, go for it.

i’ve been wanting to say this for a while, and im still not sure i’m gonna say it right, but i really appreciate your blog. i’ve been having issues with my ovaries for a while and it’s still not clear if i’m fertile or even gonna get to Keep my ovaries much longer. it’s been really stressful, because i really want to be able to get pregnant, and i might never be able to. but one of the worst parts is that i’m transmasc, and a lot of people- including my own family- can’t wrap their heads around being a man and wanting to be pregnant. even other transmascs seem to think i can’t actually be trans and genuinely want this. people pity me cus they think Society is what made me feel this way, and they have to “help” by convincing me this is something i don’t actually want.
you and all your followers have been the opposite of that. seeing so many other transmascs who openly (and sometimes desperately) want to experience pregnancy has made me feel like so much less of an other. seeing people who aren’t transmasc but have transmasc friends/partners being so encouraging and supportive when this is something they want has felt so validating. it’s such a positive and welcoming environment here, and it’s so comforting.
so i guess the main takeaway is everyone should keep being horny, because there’s at least one person who really appreciates it.
Hey there, Aster! Thanks for hopping into my inbox with your kind words! 💖
I've said it before, and I'll continue saying it long into the future for old and new followers alike-- this blog exists because I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to feel appreciated, validated, and seen in regard to this kink. I don't care what parts anyone was born with, what parts anyone has now, or what anyone's age(18+)/gender/sexuality is. Anyone can feel the desire to be pregnant or to impregnate someone else, and that feeling should be celebrated.
I'm sorry to hear that you've had so much trouble with your original plumbing, Aster, and that you aren't sure if you'll be able to conceive. That's a really shitty situation to be in when you actually want to get pregnant. I've known a few people on Tumblr who are in similar health-related situations, and I just wish I could give all of you a big hug (if it's wanted). It's really not fair. The universe is pretty shit for allowing that to happen in the first place. But you're not alone, okay? I don't know how much comfort that offers you, but there are folks out there who commiserate, understand what you're struggling with, and hope that you'll be able to eventually find happiness regardless of what happens.
And yeah... family and society can suck big time sometimes. OFC you can't be male and want to carry a child, right? /s In my opinion, those people are nothing more than gatekeepers who have no business being involved in your body and business. The knowledge that these kinds of opinions are so commonplace really pisses me off. The desire to procreate is a ridiculously ordinary (though not universal) part of being human, so why shouldn't anyone be allowed to use the parts they have to make a baby if they want to? Or be allowed to find other reasonable ways to make it happen? :throws-table.gif:
Ugh. I'll get off of my soapbox now.
All that said, if the space I'm nurturing and the community we're all building is one of support, encouragement, and affirmation, then that's a dream fulfilled for me. We may be stuck feeling like an Other elsewhere thanks to societal stupidity, but not here. Here we're all as incredible and sexy and fertile as we wish to be, and I refuse to hear otherwise.
You're awesome, Aster. Try to stay positive, do what you can to take care of your troublesome bits, and love yourself the way you are. And if you ever need to vent about this stuff, my DMs are open, okay?
I adore all of you horny, breedable fuckers. 💖 Don't any of you forget it.

Hey haven't been on tumblr lately and don't know if you're still talking trigger prompts but I have one that has been rotating in my mind!
Guy prides himself on being resilient, adaptable, etc. Way into EDC stuff, takes a bunch of first aid courses, puts down "keeps a cool head in a crisis" when job apps ask for personal strengths.
But when disaster actually strikes (cape fight rolls across the highway he's on and causes a nasty pileup) he freezes. Can't think, can't act, forgets all his first aid and crisis management. The situation resolves and he goes home, everything playing back over and over in his head.
After a couple days of preoccupation and stress, he concludes (with the same degree of confidence as before, no comment on the accuracy) that what he was interpreting as resilience in personal crises was really just relief in the aftermath- he feels safe once there's nothing left to be done, no chance for him to fuck up and do something wrong. Trigger.
I don't know if you guys are sending me more changer triggers or if I'm predisposed to changer powers, but they're fun anyway.
He changes inside, his skin splits, and something weaker and more vulnerable slithers out. It's eel-like and fast, and it's covered in eyes, many of them taking in things humans wouldn't be able to see, including looking into other dimensions and similar. "This contains toxic chemicals", "this sniper is an extremely good shot and this one isn't as good", "this is edible", "this person is immune to my friend's blaster power", "from the magnetic fields, home is that way", etc.
The eel form is difficult to spot, but mainly due to it's small size and transparency.
He becomes reconnaissance, infiltrating and squeezing his way into enemy bases through plumbing and cracks in walls. He spies on enemies while in their walls, learning about their relationships, capabilities, weakness, and getting imperfect glimpses into computer memories.
The form is adjustable, with the changer able to pick and choose different capabilities freely when hatching ("we need to read their databases, i need eyes to read hard drives", "their base is hermetically sealed, i need something that can get in", "i need as much durability and robustness as my power can achieve"), and able to make smaller, reactive adjustments while in eel form.
Returning to allies, he slowly reforms his human body, and delivers the information he learnt, equipping other people to be the heroes, the capable survivors. On a level he doesn't mind too much. He knows well that in both his forms, he'd be useless in a crisis.

how do you deal with envy? I find myself envious of people who seem to have great lives or stable minds or better childhoods than I did. sometimes i want to be like these girls so badly i become unhappy for their happiness or i want to be liked by them so badly i act desperate, how can i be happy and grateful when i don't have anything i want? or anything i need in a way, somethings i simply can't get, like stable families or naturally pretty faces or childhoods back
I feel like this answer is going to simultaneously feel too simple and impossible to do, but I really do think the way to handle envy is to practice gratitude. Our brains pay attention to the things that we train them to think are important. So when we focus on other people, what they have, and what we're lacking in relation to them, that's what our brains start to label as "important" and it's what they'll automatically start paying attention to. On the flip side, if we focus on the things that we're grateful for, our brains label those things as important and automatically start to look for other things to be grateful for. And in the process of looking for things to be grateful for, our brains start to ignore what other people have that we don't.
Obviously that's easier said than done, and like a lot of things I've been talking about on here lately, I think it's a process that will take time. I would maybe start by just taking a few minutes every day to notice things that are good, even if they're small. For example, for me today, it's a beautiful day outside and I don't have any obligations so I can do whatever I want with my day. There's a plumber coming to fix my dripping tap, which I'm super grateful for because it means that I have my own place to live that has indoor plumbing that I can afford without stressing, and it has a really kind and thoughtful handyman. I'm grateful that we have to call the plumber because I know that he and the handyman are friends, and it gives them an excuse to hang out. I'm grateful that when I feel like it, there are a bunch of places within walking distance where I can go grab a snack. I'm grateful for the mug my friend gave me for my birthday because she knew I really wanted it even though I kept telling her not to get it. I'm grateful that I have the vast world of information that is the internet and that it means I get to connect with all of you.
Lots of things in the world suck. There will probably always be some things in the world that suck, at least a little bit. But a lot of those things- things that are in the past or that are fixed parts of who we are- aren't within our control to change, and so focusing on them will only serve to drive us crazy. Not to quote the Serenity Prayer, but I do think it's important to change the things that we can and accept the things that we can't. Sometimes things are just out of our control and I think that in those cases, all we can really do is try to find ways to move forward, whether that's through recognizing the good that there still is in our lives or trying to find other ways to meet our needs.

While dealing with covid I still have to do my usual routine of filling up water jugs since I've not had running water in two years due to ruined plumbing neither my mom nor I can afford to fix. Can't even try to save up for it at this point because we still have over $2000 in property taxes to pay on our small lot which is insane, and I still need to get new tires desperately. The stress and worry were already making me sick I didn't need covid on top of it.
But now whenever I go to my neighbors rose's to fill up jugs, I often get harassed by my other neighbor Lupe who according to Rose is jealous of how close I am with her. She treats Rose like a mother figure and Rose is and grandma figure to me and I'm just??? Leave me alone??? Rose has INSISTED I fill up my water jugs or do laundry at her place any time. She told me even when she's not home to just use her spare key she hid on her porch and come on in and fill up.
Last week before I even got sick, I was there filling up while Rose was gone and Lupe stormed in and demanded to know who was there (like she didn't recognize my car she drives by every day???) And then demanded to know why i wasn't wearing a mask in Rose's house (this woman doesn't give a shit about masks, she just wanted to start shit with me. Also I literally had one in my car I was heading back to out on before she stormed in.)
I told Rose about it and she was pissed bc she had already told Lupe to leave me alone, which is bizarre because I literally do nothing to Lupe. Last time I saw her was a year ago and we always got along and had a good time at rose's. But now I've been told she views me as a threat and wants to accuse me of taking advantage of Rose even though Rose herself is of complete sound mind and I would never do that to anyone. Hell I'm embarrassed and ashamed as hell to have to fetch my water from other people.
It's humiliating and tiring. Sometimes I have to fill up 30 gallons multiple times a week, carry them to my car, then carry them to my porch, then into my house. My arms be strong as hell tho ngl. Anyways Lupe had her ex husband cover rose's outside faucet last year (WAY before freezing weather season, so I guess even then she was trying to give me trouble) where I couldn't use it easily at all, so I gave up and started going inside, now that I'm sick and won't go in her house I asked Rose if I could uncover it all and she said absolutely and don't even worry about covering it back up.
The thing is that I'm already so low. I can barely get any lower in life than I am. So why harass me over getting water??? It's not even her fucking property. Rose told her I'm trusted and allowed to come and go as I need and please and I think that's pissed her off even more.
There's evidence that Lupe might be hoping to get rose's money, home, and car, once she dies, but I know Rose and that's not her will at all. She said Lupe makes her uncomfortable bc she does things to rose's house without her permission like changing her curtains and furniture??? WHO DOES THAT
Lupe also has a trait that has always troubled me where she seems to be a self-hating Hispanic. I've heard her say the most vile things about other Hispanic neighbors that literally do nothing wrong??? Like one time she saw some hanging out their laundry on a cloudy day and was like "typical dirty wetbacks" and I was like "wtf girl that's horrible to say. i've had to do that before too don't hate on someone for doing what they have to do"
she has a son, his gf and another kid who live with her and most of them are on disability so she be reaping their checks and when she first moved right across from Rose last year, she and her crew IMMEDIATELY made Rose get sick bc they weren't cautious around her at all, so her trying to make me feel bad like I was TRYING to make Rose sick even though Rose wasn't even there and I told her I wiped any door or faucet handle I touch down with alcohol before I leave, is alllll bullshit. She's been stewing to find fault with me for months and that was her chance and it failed big time with me AND with Rose later that day.
It's so bizarre. To me, Rose is a nice grandmotherly in her own odd way neighbor. I visit her and we talk about anything and everything. Even before I needed water I would go over there just to hang out and get out of my own head for a while. But it's not like I go over there or talk to her every day. Why am I such a threat to someone like Lupe. I really don't get it. Her and her crew have being doing so much more to harass me and it's got me so grieved and scared. I just want to live in a better place.
Even when I go to my maternal grandma's, other relatives will mock or harass me for filling up jugs or doing laundry there. And my maternal grandma has well water so she doesn't even pay a damn water bill. Like, why kick me when I'm already down? It's not like I just sit around and do nothing. I do everything I can to earn money with odd jobs but have had no luck on getting a decent job or even part-time job. It devastates and humiliates me. I cry myself to sleep more often than not at my whole life situation. I don't need anyone else to make me feel worse than I already do.
I understand if you said or thought "I ain't reading all of that". I really do. This is a rambling mess. I just needed to vent out a little bit of that stupidity that's been going on recently in my life. I'm so tired and scared all the time.

Rimworld Deserters: Day 1 - Day 3
Tumblr media
May I introduce you to: Our three starting soldiers.
The Fallen Empire has begun its colonization of a large chunk of the Rimworld known as Porrima Tertiary. Many of the factions that once called this planet home have either been exterminated by the Empire or forced to move on to distant worlds, while those who remain try in vein to reclaim their turf. Amidst this turmoil emerges a shining star of hope for the people of this world, a faction of former soldiers, medics, and civilians who have pledged to their dying breath to eliminate the Imperial parasite spreading across the cosmos.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately their efforts have grown more difficult in recent years. The Empire's awareness of the threat they pose has led to countless bloodshed and hardship, causing the faction to splinter and spread across the globe in the hopes that they can lay low long enough to regroup and continue the fight. This is where our story begins:
Elliot De Covas - 27 Years Old: At a young age Elliot was forcibly drafted into an Imperial Youth Training Program. The lack of personal choice made him drag his feet at every opportunity, but the freetime he garnered from refusing to participate helped out his social skills and made him into a natural leader, albeit with a big of a swollen ego. In his early adulthood he made the brave decision to desert the Imperial army and join the up and coming resistance group known as The Wings of The Free Bird.
Zachary "Zach" Mclean - 36 Years Old: Zach was born a sickly child and spent most of his youth safely quarantined in the hospital, where he learned many things about the world of science and medicine, although none of it actually interested him that much. Being stuck in that hospital alone for so much of his youth gave him a few loose screws, but nonetheless he was excited for the day when he received his Bionic Heart and was able to build up his strength like he never could before. Unfortunately this led to him being drafted as one of the Empire's Shipcrackers, where he would break through the hulls of enemy ships and slaughter the entire crew singlehandedly. The stress led him to a bit of a drug problem, which eventually led him to also desert the Empire when the opportunity arose.
Lars Mechtenberg - Age 34 biologically, chronologically he's 134: Lars was a normal kid living in the Empire when he found a secret door in his grandfather's antique shop. No one is really sure what happened next, or if anything happened at all, all that is known is that around 100 years later Lars was found inside of a Cryptosleep Casket with no memory of what exactly he went through. Almost immediately after being pulled out of the casket, Lars was instructed in the art of medicine and forced to become an Infantry Medic. Just like the other two, he became dissatisfied with this life and deserted his position.
We spent day 1 not really doing much besides cleaning up the small outpost that would become our new HQ, and gathering some resources around the area. The only noteworthy thing that happened was it actually rained on the first day in an Arid Shrubland.
On day 2 we started working on a small water transport system and a bathroom cause, well, big boys gotta shit sometime. Elliot and Lars also had a small conversation it the breakfast table. Elliot's quickly making friends with the men who will eventually help him take back the planet (if they don't die in the process of course).
Tumblr media
The bathroom came along nicely, just need to work on some plumbing and it'll be all set to use
Tumblr media
On day 3 we finished up the plumbing so we can finally stop shitting outside and washing up in the water fountain.
Tumblr media
(Ignore the dead cheetah)
Tumblr media
Something I plan on doing real soon is breaking into THIS little wall right here and taking on whatever might be inside. With any luck we can recruit the guys in the Cryptosleep pods to our cause.
Tumblr media
Something smaller I also did today was build a chess table to keep our guys from going mad with boredom. Or next plan is to build some hot water tanks so they don't have to take cold showers. Although why anyone would want a hot shower in the desert is beyond my understanding.
Also if someone can explain to me why I can't seem to get the Lars to plant anything in our hydroponics base I would be eternally grateful thank uuu

Idea based on friend of mine suggesting ideas of modern Kaidan….
Imagine reverse scenario of allora au, modern skyrim and she came from skyrim era earth. Or shes from skyrim and got plopped into modern earth
God, do you know how overwhelming that'd be?
There's no magick in our realm, so I don't think I'd keep whatever magick I did have, so like. That's all ready overwhelming. Secondly, no gods?? What?? Like, no one to directly commune with or anything like that. Akatosh?? Mara?? Where are you?? Who is this Jesus- why is he dead?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR GOD?!??!? (AND WHY ARE SOME WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO PROCLAMATE THEIR GOD-)
Secondly the TECHNOLOGY. THE ADVANCEMENTS. You see all these people living in thatched roofs, stone and wood houses. It's a little cold and drafty sometimes but it gets the job done. DO YOU KNOW HOW OVERWHELMING AC AND HEATING WOULD BE?? Instant spoiled cat. I'd never leave the house. OR THE PLUMBING-
God there's just so much. That's not even getting into the politics, economy, infrastructure (kind of)- it'd be weird to see so many people homophobic too, given the world of Skyrim is essentially full of bi / pan people. And I consider Interesting NPCs to be canon- IDGAF- that beautiful trans darling asking for aid for you to help her transition makes me cry. Not being able to magically transition?? Being GOUGED for prices to feel comfortable in your own body?? A travesty.
Kaidan would likely have to hold me back on storming up to the White House or whatever official in the area he lived in and giving them a piece of my mind. I do enjoy the idea of the boys being like, college roommates or something, that's super cute. The three of them having to hide me because I just question EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. None of them can EVER let it get out that I just fell outside from the SKY, I'd be taken by the government somewhere and tested by various scientists.
Kaidan would probably be really concerned about me a lot of the time- all ready stressed out from faltering on his grades for college courses and now he's gotta keep a random woman who fell into his lap safe?? STOP TOUCHING THE ELECTRACAL SOCKETS WOMAN- this man needs a nap. But he'd be really sweet about educating me about life around the area for sure. Street smarts, definitely thinking his weaknesses in school is that he was homeschooled his whole life maybe? And the overwhelming college transition is making it more difficult? The pressure, the costs, the amount you have to deal with; it'd be a lot for sure. But I'd help with what I could, even if it's just a rubber ducky moment where he reads stuff out to me just to find what in what is wrong.
And I know you specified Kai, but I do enjoy thinking about what my other husbands would do with me around 😊😂 Lu-Lu would be pestering me about magick versus science and, me being me with loves for both, would go back and forth about discussing the utility of both in the world, despite how little the advancement is in society. Definitely talks about the Dwemer- probably asking if THEY were Dwemer and wondering if I got shunted by the Heart somehow, despite being no where near the Tribunal or Solstheim. He'd be all over learning about various aspects of Skyrim, the gods, the social structures, the wars- horrified of course of the ongoing war, but all the more curious to how people handle it.
Inigo and I would be fast friends, as always in every universe. We both have that sense of humor that most people find a little kooky but we fit like a glove together! And I could definitely see myself opening up to him about the horrors of war that had been going on, worrying about my family and if they were okay, etc. He's very relaxed but also has a lot on his shoulders, and I'd definitely wanna be there for him too.
OH but man that raises the question about Bren- would he be in this universe? If he is, I feel like he lives nearby and finds me after I get lost around the nearby area, takes me in, takes care of me for a while until the boys find me. I don't want to leave him behind in another universe, thas my uncle. Him family.
The biggest question would be why was I sent here? Because I all ready have that figured out for TESSDE, but in a modern setting, in this world, what would the gods have for sending lil ol me a whole world- an entire universe- away? That's the big one. I don't want it to be a punishment because TESSDE is about finding your place in the world no matter how much it seemingly doesn't want you, and I'd wanna keep that. But I'm not sure how I could twist it for a real world.
(Maybe watching the Barbie movie could help.)
Sorry for this HUGE blurb 😂 Not what you were expecting I'm sure, but it is always so fun to think of AUs!! Thank you for asking!

okay i'm finally catching up ajdskl;fs
“sweetheart, you look cute, but i’m gonna need the sweater.”
reggie x carrie?
When Carrie suggested they get away from it all for the weekend, Reggie was all for it. Their equally stressful jobs and other life responsibilities had left little time for fun, or for bonding time as a couple. So with a long weekend, and a cabin in the woods to look forward to, Reggie couldn't wait for the weekend to arrive.
However, when they got there, Carrie was a little put off by how rustic it was. Sure there was plumbing, electricity, and running water, but little else.
So Reggie started a fire with the small wood supply while Carrie stocked the fridge, and soon they were enjoying some wine and roasted marshmallows while they caught up for what felt like the first time in forever.
It was a cold night, but between the residual heat of the fire, the warm quilts on the bed, and some good old fashioned cuddling, they stayed warm enough. Of course, by morning they were both freezing, so with a new fire blazing, they set about making a lazy breakfast and settling down to enjoy a good book or a puzzle.
However, by lunch time, the fire was embers, and they had exhausted their wood supply. Thankfully there was a log pile, and an axe, so Reggie hoped his latent lumberjack skills from chopping wood on his MeeMaw's farm hadn't abandoned him.
However, he was not going out without a sweater, given the crisp autumn air had a definite nip to it, and he was used to warmer temps given his upbringing. He rooted through his luggage, but found no trace of his sought after sweater.
"Hey doll have you seen my sweater?" Reggie called.
"Which sweater is that honey?"
"My Sunset Curve one. I need to go chop some wood before we freeze."
"You mean this one?" Reggie turned and there was Carrie in his sweater which fit her more like a dress, and a long pair of fuzzy socks. She was giving him a sultry grin, pulling at the shirt in question.
"That would be the one."
"But I look so cute in it!" Carrie said with a smirk.
"Sweetheart you do look cute, but I'm still gonna need that sweater," Reggie said, holding out his hand.
Carrie rolled her eyes and sighed before pulling the shirt off and placing it in his hold, and put her hands on her hips. Her very bare hips. Reggie blushed to the tips of his ears, taking in the miles of pale skin, the only thing left on her was the socks.
"D-doll..."
"Don't you have some wood to chop?" Carrie asked, loving how speechless she made him. "Go on then, get chopping. I'll just be here, all alone and cold."
"Or I could stay in and warm you up. The wood's not going anywhere."
"I like the way you think," Carrie said, giggling wildly as he scooped her up and dashed off to the bedroom, the sweater and the wood long forgotten.

Revamping Your Bathroom: From Drab to Fab - A Step-by-Step Guide
Are you tired of looking at the same old dull and outdated bathroom? Do you want a space that is not only functional but also stylish and inviting? If so, it's time for a remodel! In this blog post, we will take you through each step of revamping your bathroom from start to finish. Let's get started!
Step 1: Planning Your Bathroom Remodel
The first step in any renovation project is planning. This involves deciding on what changes you want to make, creating a budget, and determining the timeline for completion. Here are some things to consider during the planning phase:
What do you want to achieve with your bathroom remodel? Are there specific features or styles you like?
How much can you afford to spend? It's essential to create a realistic budget and stick to it.
When do you want the work completed? Consider how long it will take to complete each stage of the process and set a target date for completion.
Once you have a clear plan in place, it's time to move onto the next step.
Step 2: Choosing the Right Materials and Fixtures
One of the most exciting parts of a bathroom remodel is choosing the materials and fixtures. There are many options available, including tiles, countertops, cabinets, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. Here are some tips for selecting the right ones for your space:
Think about durability and practicality. You want materials that are easy to clean and resistant to water damage.
Consider style and design. Choose materials that complement your overall vision for the space.
Don't forget about functionality. Make sure all fixtures meet your needs and fit within your budget.
With these factors in mind, you should be able to choose materials and fixtures that enhance both the look and function of your new bathroom.
Step 3: Hiring a Contractor or DIY
Next up, you need to decide whether to hire a contractor or tackle the project yourself. While doing it yourself may seem cost-effective, it requires significant time and effort. On the other hand, hiring a professional comes with its own set of benefits. Here are some pros and cons to consider:
Tumblr media
Pros of hiring a contractor:
They have experience and expertise in completing projects similar to yours.
They handle all aspects of the job, which saves you time and stress.
The work is guaranteed, meaning if something goes wrong, they will fix it.
Cons of hiring a contractor:
It can be expensive. Depending on the size of the project, fees can add up quickly.
You may feel less involved in the decision-making process.
Pros of DIY:
It's more cost-effective than hiring a contractor.
You have total control over every aspect of the project.
It can be a fun and rewarding experience.
Cons of DIY:
It takes time and effort to learn the necessary skills.
Mistakes can happen, leading to delays and added costs.
Ultimately, the choice between hiring a contractor and DIY depends on your personal preferences and circumstances.
Step 4: Staying Within Budget and Timeline
Finally, it's crucial to stay within budget and timeline throughout the entire process. To ensure this happens, here are some tips:
Set a realistic budget and stick to it. Be prepared for unexpected expenses, but try to avoid overspending.
Create a detailed schedule and timeline, including milestones and deadlines. Keep track of progress regularly.
Communicate frequently with your contractor (if applicable) or team members to ensure everyone is on the same page.
By following these steps, you can successfully transform your bathroom from drab to fab while staying within budget and timeline. Good luck with your remodeling journey!

Being an adult means being real with yourself about your finances.
A huge pain point in my marriage has been money (which is totally common in relationships). We bought an old house and have had to replace literally everything except the dishwasher, dryer and most of the plumbing. We had to have half the house rewired before we moved in because it only had 1 owner and had cloth wiring. The plumbing is galvanized steel and some of it was connected to copper (big no no: there's a chemical reaction that happens and causes leaks). We recently had to have our entire kitchen drain replaced for this and the plumber wouldn't reinstall the dishwasher until we had it checked for mold, another $600 on top of the $4000+ we already paid for the drain. We had mold behind some wood paneling that obviously couldn't be seen on inspection. New roof, furnace, AC. Our drain tile system was put in backwards and had to be replaced. There was a huge flood last summer and we had 8" of water in our basement.
Needless to say, it's been stressful and we haven't even been here 2 years. And expensive.
I have always been terrible with money. I never saw good spending habits growing up, so I've always had the mindset of "I can buy it now with my credit card. It's fine." I know, that's not fine. But that's what I've always done. Some of it was definitely out of survival during my post graduating during a recession life, but I never really stopped when I started making decent money.
Anyway, during the pandemic, I found this bank called Simple that has the envelope budgeting system built right in. It was fantastic! I paid down my debts, I brought up my credit score. I was able to refinance my car loan to nearly a 10% lower rate. It was fantastic. Then, it shut down.
There was another bank that was similar to it called Envel. Basically the same concept. And it continued to work for me, but like Simple, they shut down.
I finally moved to Ally because they have these new "spending buckets." They sounded exactly like what I had with Simple and Envel. Except they weren't. Simple and Envel would distribute your money every time you got paid and put the right amount in each "envelope." Ally just puts the money in like a day or 2 before the due date you put on the bucket. This is not helpful. Yes, I could go through and distribute my money, but I don't always remember to do it. So... I didn't really do it.
Things got out of control again. I'm not saving anything. I buying shit that I don't need to be buying. We have things that are coming due with the house (the AC is the big one). It's not good. And my spouse is really stressed about it. And I'm just really embarrassed.
So I'm filling out a chart with my credit cards and their balances, interest rates and minimum payments in addition to a personal budget worksheet and meeting with my financial advisor soon. Yes, I have one of those. A friend sung his praises on Facebook, so I thought it might be helpful. And it was. I mean, he did get me to buy a bunch of life insurance, but I can meet with him whenever to look over things. I also love that he's about my age and while he's a straight cis white guy, he works with people and couples of all types (the friend who mentioned on FB him is a lesbian and married). We met with him before we decided to buy the house to see if we could swing it.
I did find a budgeting app made by a former Simple user which is basically the same as the bank, so I think that's going to work, but I really need to just sit down with someone who's not going to judge me and take a look at everything so I can get things back on track. It's really hard to admit defeat. It's really embarrassing to not be able to tell your spouse that your personal finances are in trouble and you don't know what to do. But I'm gonna talk to Brett and he's going to help me figure it out. And it's gonna be ok.

The Art of Kitchen Remodeling: A Guide
The kitchen, often referred to as the heart of a house, is a symbol of family and community. So crucial is this space that even the slightest change can significantly impact your home's overall look and feel. We're delving deep into the realm of kitchen remodeling, guiding you through this transformative journey.
The Value of Kitchen Remodeling
Renovating a kitchen is more than just swapping out old appliances or repainting cabinets - it's an opportunity to breathe new life into one's living space. More so than any other area in the house, the kitchen serves as a focal point for both daily family life and social interactions.
You might be ready to remodel your kitchen if your current setup lacks sufficient storage space or doesn't mirror your cooking style. Perhaps energy-efficient appliances are on your radar, or your kitchen simply feels outdated, warranting a makeover. Whatever your reasons may be, investing in customization ensures your kitchen fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.
Planning Your Kitchen Remodel
Before typing kitchen remodeling near me into a search engine, several factors need careful consideration:
 1) What purpose does my kitchen serve?
 2) Is there enough room for movement?
 3) Do I need more storage options?
 4) Am I satisfied with the lighting?
Mull over these questions thoroughly when planning for the remodel. Incorporate functional aspects while ensuring an aesthetic appeal that matches the rest of the house.
Elements of Effective Kitchen Design
A well-planned remodel offers ample storage without occupying much floor space—a critical factor many overlook while planning their dream kitchens.
One could argue functionality is paramount when dealing with design factors such as cabinetry choice and placement, appliance assortment, and arrangement (don't forget those energy-saving ones!), task-appropriate lighting, and plumbing fixtures.
Why Hire a Kitchen Remodeler?
The prospect of remodeling your kitchen might seem intimidating and rightly so. With so many moving parts, it’s easy to get lost in the details. Hiring a professional kitchen remodeler can save you time, stress, and a lot of guesswork. These industry experts can offer guidance on overall design plans, suggest quality materials within budget, ensue adherence to local codes and permits while working efficiently.
While searching for kitchen remodeling near me may yield numerous results, it's important to choose a remodeler that understands your requirements and vision—after all; it’s about establishing a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics.
The Transformation Journey
Remodeling your kitchen is not merely a project but an artistic journey brimming with self-realization. Despite its challenges, seeing your new kitchen come together piece by piece is incredibly rewarding.
Whether you're planning for extensive makeovers or simpler ones such as hardware replacements and painting jobs, remember every choice matters. It all contributes to creating an ambiance that breathes life into your home while reflecting personal style.
Securing the services of a professional kitchen remodeler ensures that this process is smoothly orchestrated from start to finish—guiding you through the daunting waters of renovation concerns like permits, keeping work within budget limitations, adhering to timelines, and navigating unexpected obstacles often surfacing during remodel projects.
Remember what we aim for in the end - A gorgeous customized kitchen fulfilling each functional need while expressing individuality in its unique aesthetic charm!

Welcome to our comprehensive guide video on the importance of home inspections. Whether you're a first-time buyer or a seasoned homeowner, understanding the ins and outs of this critical step can save you time, money, and stress in the long run. FOLLOW #EXP613
My name is Tom Witek (V-tec) and I am a licensed real estate agent with Exp Realty Brokerage. I wanted to to speak to you today about a very important topic: #RealEstatePurchase Do I Need A #HomeInspection ?
A home inspection is more than just a formality – it's your chance to gain a deeper understanding of the property you're considering purchasing. Let's dive into why this process is essential and what it entails.
"We've heard horror stories from friends who skipped the inspection process. We want to avoid any surprises and ensure we're making a sound investment."
One common misconception is that new homes don't need inspections. However, even newly constructed properties can have hidden issues that an inspection can uncover.
When buying an older home, inspections are crucial for uncovering potential structural issues, plumbing or electrical problems, and signs of wear and tear that may not be visible to the untrained eye.
Meanwhile, inspections for newer homes focus on ensuring everything is up to code and functioning as it should. From checking the integrity of the foundation to testing appliances and HVAC systems, no detail is too small to overlook.
Some buyers may be tempted to waive the inspection to expedite the buying process or save money upfront. However, this decision can lead to costly surprises down the road.
By investing in a thorough home inspection, buyers gain peace of mind and confidence in their investment. A professional inspector will provide a detailed report highlighting any issues and offering recommendations for repairs or further evaluation.
Ultimately, a home inspection is an invaluable tool that empowers buyers to make informed decisions about their future homes.
So, whether you're buying your first home or your fifth, don't underestimate the importance of a thorough home inspection. It's your key to a smooth and successful home-buying experience.
Thanks for joining us on this journey through the world of home inspections. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe for more valuable insights into real estate. Until next time, happy house hunting!"
