Program announcements for next season. Team Japan and Team Korea
Mai Mihara
SP - Grief, by Tony Ann, choreo by Misha Ge
Twee music isn't exactly what I wanted for Mai but I trust her to serve nonetheless
Wakaba Higuchi
SP - Dune OST, by Hans Zimmer, choreo by Jeffrey Buttle
FS - Nature Boy, by AURORA, choreo by Shae-Lynn Bourne
The SP is GOOD. Guaranteed crowd pleaser ala Lion King or Wakabond
Rion Sumiyoshi
SP - Un homme qui me plaît (Love is a funny thing), by Francis Lai, choreo by Misha Ge
Hype hype hype now that's outside the box and I can't wait to see it
Yelim Kim
Keeps both her programs!!! We get to see Ladies in Lavender again!!!!
Yuma Kagiyama
SP - Sound of Silence, cover by Garou, choreo by Lori Nichol
Snippets look good but once again Yuma and his music choices...
Kao Miura
SP - Nemesis
Asjsjfjdbshdf kid choose chaos once again
Sota Yamamoto
SP - Split, Postcards from far away, choreo by Benoit Richaud
Benoît is hit or miss but at this point I'm very happy Sota's working with him. That should make things interesting and I like the snippets better than anything else I've seen from Sota.
Koshiro Shimada
SP - Can't Take My Eyes of You, by Shawn Mendes, choreo by Shae-Lynn Bourne
FS - Danse Macabre, choreo by Camille Saint Saens, choreo by Stéphane Lambiel
Once more with the crappy covers. Koshiro could do better.
Yujae Kim
FP - Swan Lake, choreo by Misha Ge
Supposed to be balletic which I do not see for Yujae. Lines and posture are not even remotely close.
Yuseong Kim
SP - Clair de Lune, by Claude Debussy, choreo by Misha Ge
Minsol Kwon
SP - James Bond, choreo by Misha Ge
Oh this should be fun!
Rio Nakata
SP - Arroul/Uccen by the Taalbi Brothers, choreo by Misha Ge
Should be a Flamenco program
Younghyun Cha
SP Reel around the sun
Juheon Lim
SP - Waves, by Dean Lewis, choreo by Misha Ge

let's talk men's junior grand prix final
(I calculated this on reddit no I'm not stealing off battlestarvalk i AM battlestarvalk)
For Adam Hagara to fail to qualify in JGPF, the following situation exactly must occur:
Beck Strommer or Daiya Ebihara win Poland JGP
Juheon Lim comes second in Poland JGP
Daniel Martynov wins Armenia JGP
For Minkyu Seo to qualify in JGPF, three of the following situations cannot occur:
Juheon gets a podium at Poland JGP
Beck and Daiya come either 1st or 2nd at Poland JGP
Daniel comes 1st or 2nd at Armenia JGP
Fedir Kulish wins in Armenia and has a total score above 427.42
For example - if Juheon wins in Poland (so only one of Beck/Daiya can get 2nd or higher instead of both), Fedir doesn't win Armenia, and Daniel comes 3rd, Minkyu qualifies to JGPF.
There's two men scheduled for both Poland and Armenia (Luka Imedashvili and Oscar Oliver) who could theoretically also qualify to JGPF but that feels unlikely.

At this point I genuinely think junior men is my favourite event of the whole GPF.
There's just something so endearing about it. You have leggy boys fighting gravity and physics. You have smoll balls of talent ready to throw hands.
You get emo music. You get teenage angst. You get programs that's just a jumping drill with epic music in the background.
Spins are all kind of bad. SS sometimes have vanished. Then you witness the next coming of Patrick Chan. Then the skater gives you theatre club levels of performance. You get quads and double axels in the same program.
And it's only the beginning, during the next seasons you'll see them in seniors and the awkwardness will be gone and the programs may be better and the jumps are more impressive and sometimes growth will make it so that the JPGF winner is still waiting for his breakout season and is stuck in lower ranks while the one who finished 6th with a disaster skate is a world medalist.
Anyway here's to Stephen Gogolev, Koshiro Shimada, Camden Pulkinen, Adam Siao Him Fa, Petr Gummenik, Tomoki Hiwatashi, Yuma Kagiyama, Shun Sato, Andrei Mozalev, Nikolaj Memola, Lucas Broussard, Shunsuke Nakamura, Nozomu Yoshioka, Robert Yampolski, Takeru Amine Kataise, Rio Nakata, Hyungyeom Kim, Juheon Lim, Adam Hagara, Daniel Martinov, François Pitot
