This kind of thing bothers me as a new fan of Louis. I became a fan in 2021, and was never a fan of “the band” as he likes to call it. So every time he brings them up, talks about a reunion, or collaborations it just feels like he’s refusing to move on/catering to the past/ valuing old fans over new fans. Like I know ge likes to point out the fans that “have grown up together” which is nice to an extent, but you’re two albums and two world tours (many more years) into your SOLO career. It is time to let go, brother! He is just too sentimental for my liking sometimes. Like I get that you had a good time, but we’ve heard all of the stories a million times. Nothing is changing with that topic. What happened to faith in the FUTURE? Full steam ahead, I say!

Also… I just really don’t want to feel obligated to listen to a Liam payne song because Louis wrote on it 😶

New fans have to listen to One Direction songs whether they want to or not, at his concerts. Sometimes 3 or 4 songs. And they miss their favorite songs from FITF (Headline, Paradise, Chicago, Common People) because we’re listening to the 2000th iteration of Night Changes.

After this tour, it’s also possible that we’ll never hear some of these songs again, the way we will never hear Miss You or Always You or Defenceless or Only The Brave. It’s almost as if these songs aren’t as good as Drag Me Down, when actually they’re 1. Solo music at a solo concert, 2. Objectively better songs.

Anyway rant over.

On the positive side, Louis used to jump at the topic and say unequivocally that he would love 1D to be back 1000%. Now he drags his feet and hesitates a bit, saying, how would that work with five different sounds (notice he said five)?

It’s giving false hope to naive fans to lead them on by suggesting there’s some sort of inevitability to reunion because of nostalgia or memories. It would be for money, for some fans, and for a limited engagement. Louis knows that.

Marte, I think what we feared has happened and he's lost masses of fans due to his Larry denials and laddish antics. His new Live album got less than 450k streams yesterday averaging about 30k streams per song.

His live album may even reach its goal in terms of streaming (although FITF still has songs with very low numbers), but he can't forget his tour numbers. Even in LATAM he had sales difficulties, I don't think any country sold out. In the US leg there were several shows with 60-70% audience capacity. In the leg I don't remember if it was 2 or 3 shows sold out. So he should analyze his choices, because the situation is not so good

I'm not sure what's good numbers or not in this case. Link. To me these streaming numbers show that a good number of people check out his album, start from the top, and don't listen past The Greatest, which is the absolute weakest song on the live album. That's such a shame.

Also, this album dropped out of the blue, he's doing no promo for it, and it's not new songs. Live albums are tricky, because people usually always prefer the studio version. So the numbers aren’t surprising me.

When it comes to the ticket sales, i think they book large venues, shut down sections of it and open them up again if the demand for it is met. So his shows will never be sold out, not unless he starts booking smaller venues without the possibility of expansion. When they're not sure of how sales are going to go it's a smart move. It would be bad if he sold out a smaller venue and hundreds of fans wouldn't be able to go to his show.

I think his fandom is changing and i do think his image and treatment of fans, late cancellations and half assed shows play a part in all this. Larry denials are not helping, nor is lack of proper promotion.

This is ridiculous. An album competing for number 1 from an established UK artist - and Louis is established, a world record holder for his solo career and with one Direction and, quite frankly, the One Direction members will always be famous - and this is what it takes to get BBC to play his music. Which they have hardly done, even when they finally added Bigger Than Me to their c-playlist. I am happy it happened but it was played so early in the morning in the UK. I also thought Greg James sounded maybe do what condescending but that could just be because I think the worst of most people who work in UK radio. I used to like him long ago but he really disappointed me. This is not normal, by the way. It just isn’t. Anyone who thinks it is has no concept of how the industry works. The almost complete lack of radio play for Louis in the UK is strange.

Louis will have the #1 or #2 album in the UK this week and he has to mention having to search for his single in their system and isn’t even sure if it is indeed his last single. He may not be the decisionmaker at BBC Radio 1, but his response was telling. BBC Radio 1′s bias at this point is undeniable. They have Louis blacklisted and now act put out when they’re FORCED to play him. God, I hope with every fiber of my being that Louis gets that number one today just because I know it’ll piss BBC off just as much as it’ll piss Sony off. The BBC Radio 1 hosts can scream and cry from Sony’s pocket where they’ve been living for years.
