8 - How loose is their use of the phrase, "I love you"?

Roo uses ILY loosely only because he tends to be very uncomfortable when people say I love you to him because... well, it's a "I can't accept a compliment" sorta thing ykwim? He does truly mean it but it's just that he doesn't quite feel comfortable saying it back or reciprocating the feeling (less so in the case of a lover) and will just kinda say it to say it.

47 - Who have they forgotten about that remembers them very well?

This might be a long one, but i'll try to keep it short. So around the age of late 15 - early 16 (about when Roo was learning to accept himself as Gay), there was a Canadian Girl, by the name of Makayla Brant, who had recently moved to Roo's school, and Roo never really cared for her because well, he was too busy trying to fend himself off from the bullies and shit, but it was Makayla who really fancied him, she would talk to him as she could (and as much as Roo would let her/respond to her), but Roo was... very uncomfortable with being around others and talking to people, so she never got much outta him. She progressively got more and more frustrated, she was just being nice and trying to help him! So Makayla would begin breaking his boundaries, sitting too close to him, poking and prodding at him, trying to give him things he didn't want or ask for (something he specifically asked her not to do) and would just continue to ask him and question him about things he's shown discomfort in answering before (like what his type is). Mind you, he's unsure of if he even likes the opposite sex, but he tried to be optimistic about her, one day he decided "yea let's just be nice to her," and would talk to her more and more, she turned out to be super, super sweet and caring (at least to him), but something about the way she acted towards him itched him the wrong way. Come the following week and she asks him out, she brought him all kinds of treats and gifts, almost as if she were bribing him into loving her, but he rejected her, he just... didn't see her that way, Makayla was frankly disgusted. What were they then? "Just friends... sorry" Makayla actually began to second-hand bully Roo from here on out by telling other students about him and things he trusted her to keep a secret 🙃🙃 After the confession, Roo officially knew at this point that he was not interested in the opposite sex at all, between this point (late 16) and being late 17 - early 18, he was actually slightly repulsed by women just because of this experience, he grew out of it as he aged.

Now to actually answer the question, for such a significant moment in his life, he has completely forgotten about Makayla, and often just recalls his realization for his sexuality as having a slip-up with some students, considering the person he could've become, I think we're all glad he's forgotten about Makayla. Of course, Makayla hasn't forgotten about him, she thinks about him frequently and remembers every detail about him like a book she rereads every day. Unfortunately for Makayla, Roo now is not her type at all, she also still remembers him as Harvey and doesn't know his name is Roo now.
