story:
Marcy's a mermaid, and Anne lives in the town near the sea, they met when they're kids and Anne was fishing with her dad near the shore, while he went away for a bit something caught on the fishing rod, Anne tried to pull it out but it was too heavy so she peaked underwater and saw Marcy
that's when her father came back, so Anne pretended that she drooped the fishing rod into the sea, she got scolded for it cause it was a pretty expensive one, but later that evening Marcy came to give it back while Anne was sitting sulking on the docks
so they started hanging out after that, Anne tried to explain that's dangerous to swim around here since there's a lot of fishermens, she showed her one underwater cave not so far away from her home and Marcy snuggled there Marcy can turn into a human but only with a potion, and one of the ingredients for it grows only in one place near Anne's town, but the other in deepwaters, so from time to time Marcy had to swim away for some days to get it, she always brings a lot of pretty stuff she found in the sea to Anne
also if too much water gets on her feet she'll turn back to mermaid again, and potion isn't permanent, just for a several days
Anne works as a delivery guy, riding around the town on her scooter, delivers her parent's stuff and Plantars’ and whatever town's folks might ask
Marcy and Anne dating now, but only Anne and Sprig(maybe Polly too) knows Marcy's a mermaid, nobody from the town has no idea (Mr and Mrs B knows too but Anne doesn't know that)
one day mayor of the town strikes a pretty good deal with one company to build one of their branches in the town, and together with this Waybrights who works for this company come to live to town
but construction means that some of the plants that Marcy needs for the potion might get destroyed and who knows, maybe with time water near the town won't be as clean as before

Amphibia/H2O: Just Add Water/Mermaid AU:
Btw, this AU has a lot of references and ideas inspired from this mermaid show called H2O.
What if, Anne, Sasha, and Marcy end up becoming mermaids over the course of their stay in Amphibia? After stumbling into some weird cave and getting stuck, the only way out is to swim out of some kind of magical pool, and while amphibians aren't affected by the pool's waters, outsiders, such as humans, are.
Now, they have to deal with the problems and complications of transforming every time they get in contact with water. Additionally, not only do their Calamity Box powers develop quickly, they also get powers over water and other elements.
With Anne, not only does she have her blue gem powers, she also has hydrokinesis, and wind and weather powers.
With Sasha, she has her pink gem powers (which mostly includes Super Strenth), as well as pyrokinesis, electrokinesis, and explosion inducement.
With Marcy, she has her green gem powers (which possibly includes increased intelligence), as well as cryokinesis, telepathy, and telekinesis.
The rest of the series would, for the most part, have the same plotlines, but with the added plots that comes with the Mermaid thing.
Ideas of things that change/could happen:
Anne would be able to use her powers to help with/save the Planters, and later on, her parents.
Anne and Sasha's second fight would have them using their powers against each other and would be more destructive.
Marcy would use some of her powers to help with Newtopia and its problems.
Basically, the trio would be able to use their powers when at the third temple, and etc.
When Anne returns home, one other thing she'd try to hide from her parents, (and the outside world, in general), is her Mermaid form and powers. And it takes a longer time for her parents to discover those things.
Though her mom does get suspicious at points, especially when she sees Anne actively avoiding touching water in public, and then running off when some splashes on her.
When they first transform, Anne is freaked out, Sasha is confused and very annoyed, and Marcy is intrigued and excited.
The Planters, at first, assume this is a human thing. Anne, panicked, says that it's not.
Maddie could help Anne, and later on Marcy, with their powers and transformations, as well as to help with researching of the mysterious cave and pool that changed the trio.
In the Dinner episode, Marcy has made the girls matching necklaces with their own gem colors on it. The three wear the necklaces over the course of the series.
Anne briefly takes off her necklace when returning to Earth with the Planters, hurt by both of her friends' betrayals. Sprig later encourages her to continue wearing it.
If Dr. Jan also finds out about the mermaid thing, not only does she help keep it a secret, she'd most likely ask Anne a ton of questions about it, and does a lot of research on the subject.
Also, thier tails would be the color of their gemstones, Anne has a blue tail, Sasha has pink tail, and Marcy has a green tail.
In Amphibia, the girls will occasionally swim in the lakes or rivers for fun. When they breifly reunite, the three went on a huge swim together.
Anne, at one point after returning home, goes to the beach with the Planters for a swim. She's does this away from the people, and somewhere in a secluded area.
Anne nearly gets caught with her tail in public at one point after an incident with Andrias's robot assasin, but her family, and possibly Dr. Jan, covers for her by distracting the curious onlookers while she swims away.

People who follow me may have noticed I'm in a The Little Mermaid mood today ^^"
So, to try to have a little fun without canon angst attachment, what do you guys think of a Marcanne - The Little Mermaid AU?
Marcy is Ariel, unhappy in her home world and earning for answers and to be a part of a world she fell in love with.
And Anne is Eric. This man would do anything for Ariel, and the scene where he lets her ride the carriage really reminds me of the frozen yogurt machine scene in Anne's flashback.
I'm very glad I'm making this after true colors, so Andrias can be Ursula.
Olivia will be Triton.
Sasha will be a mix of Sebastian and Flounder, which means she'll be with Marcy exploring the shipwreck in the beginning of the movie, but also be the one who'll create the mood for Kiss The Girl.

Dusk had come. The sun was slowly submerging itself behind the western horizon, painting the clouds in pink and orange shades.
This particular stretch of Carbon Beach was abandoned, its secluded location making it a lesser-known spot for tourists. The few Californians who did know about the rocky beach did not bother to sunbathe or take a jog on this late Wednesday evening.
There was only one figure present, sitting on a jagged rock facing the ocean. She had her feet tucked under her legs as her intent gaze searched the calm waves.
Anne Boonchuy fumbled her fingers, forcing her breathing to remain steady. She feared that otherwise she might puke, her nerves overtaking her.
She had met a mermaid. A real one, the kind fairytales barely did justice to.
And today, they'd meet again.
She had been sitting here for two hours now. They'd agreed on a spot, not a time. Three times, Anne had considered going back home and writing this whole experience off as an energy drink-induced dream.
But she had stayed, hope and anticipation keeping her rooted to the spot.
Her patience was rewarded.
A head poked out of the cerulean waterline, tawny eyes curtained by inky black hair looking at Anne with sunrise and joy. Green scales covered the mermaid's head and torso, eventually transforming into a long tail, hidden beneath the waves.
The girl swam closer, and Anne once again forgot how to breathe. At least this time she wasn't actively drowning.
"Hi," Anne waved, her guts shifting as if preparing for the fall down a rollercoaster.
The girl couldn't speak. It made sense - why would someone need to speak when they lived underwater? - but it made communication a little difficult between them. Heck, Anne didn't even know the girl's name!
So far, they'd managed with body language. Luckily, Anne was a master at charades.
The girl seemed to share her anxiety, judging from the way she was avoiding meeting Anne’s eyes as she bit her lip and placed a small item upon the rock.
"Is this for me?" Anne asked, her nerves momentarily forgotten as she picked up and admired the trinket.
It was a large conch shell, soft blue with a pearlescent coating. It's shape was twisted, ending at a spiked point.
It was beautiful.
"Y'know, here on land we say that if you hold a shell like this to your ear, you can hear the ocean!" Anne did exactly that, the cold touch of the item tickling the edge of her ear.
A soft rustling sound echoed throughout the spiralling space inside the shell, mirroring the actual calling of the sea right in front of her. Anne smiled. She had practically grown up on the Californian beaches. This sound reminded her of home.
The mermaid girl seemed confused by that action, but that furrowed brow quickly shifted into a curious expression. She leaned a little closer over the edge, her head tilted.
"You wanna try?" Anne asked. She gently offered her new friend the shell.
The mermaid mirrored the pose, holding it against the side of her head like a telephone. After a few seconds, she started whistling, imitating the noise.
"Yeah, exactly!" Anne laughed.
The girl's face flushed red, an adorable contrast against her dark green scales. She handed Anne the shell back, continuing to whistle her melody.
Anne put her feet into the water, enjoying the last sunbeams caressing her skin. She started humming, harmonizing with the siren's song.
The sky had turned dark by the time their music reached its end.
Maybe words were never needed between them.

my marcanne server members popped off with this au and though i had intended on finishing this/making it into smth bigger, i just HAD to share what little i had for our surprise mermar dump! big thanks to @toonteller for sharing, it was so fun to contribute!
Concealing a mermaid in her apartment was growing to be considerably harder than Anne had initially thought it’d be.
Sasha had scoffed at the idea, rolling her eyes so hard they had visibly gone white. That’s a terrible idea, she had said, is your bathtub even big enough to contain her?
She’s hurt, Anne had argued back, and keeps getting snagged on the nets here. We have to do something.
It would be fine, Anne was sure of it. For one, Marcy had a set of above-air lungs, capable of taking the oxygen from the air instead of from water. They weren’t very strong, and she would start wheezing real bad if she was out of the water for long, but it still gave Anne enough time to transport her without looking super awkward.
For another, Marcy actually, for a reason that seems beyond Anne’s mortal conception, likes her.
And yet, here they are.
“Marcy, put the cat down,” Anne orders, staring with a numb sense of horror as Marcy’s webbed hands hold Domino above the water of her bathtub, staring at her with an awed sense of curiosity. Anne had, admittedly, forgotten all about Domino when she decided to let Marcy stay with her until her wounds healed, and now she’s paying the price for that.
Marcy makes a clicking noise in the back of her throat, and looks up at Anne with big eyes, her gills fluttering. “...cat?” Her voice is thickly accented and full of wonder, but she still hasn’t let Domino go. Domino, the bastard, hasn’t even started squirming; she’s just staring up at Marcy as well, can probably smell the fishy coming off of her.
Anne pinches her temples. Oh boy.
“Yeah, that’s Domino. She doesn’t do so well in water, and I don’t want her to scratch you.” Anne sets her first-aid kit on the bathroom counter and moves in closer, reaching out her own hands to gently take her cat away from Marcy. Domino actually protested the move, but Marcy relinquished her regardless, her shoulders drooping.
“You can play with Domino in the living room once you’ve rested up a bit, okay? I’ll even show you the cat toys.” Anne promises, carrying her cat out of the bathroom and setting her down just outside the door, closing it so that she can’t come wandering back in.
Marcy’s tail flickers in the tub, water sloshing out of it and onto the floor as she perks up a little bit at the promise of seeing her curiosity explored further. She sits half-leaning in the tub, her arms folding against the rim as she props her head up and stares at Anne with wide eyes.
It’s awfully endearing. Anne sighs very deeply, grabbing her first aid kit and making a swooping gesture. “Turn around, mkay? I’m gonna clean your wounds again. Although… do mermaids even get infections?”
Marcy shrugs, but she turns around, sloshing out more water. Anne glances down at her clothes - she had finally dried off from her shift at the beach earlier this morning - and sighs again. “The things I do for you,” she mutters under her breath, fondly exasperated, and then kneels in the pool of water already on the floor, digging through her kit for antiseptic spray and gauze.
“This might sting a bit,” she warns, spraying some of the antiseptic onto a washrag, leaning forward so that she can get a better look. Marcy’s back looks awful, her gills are all torn up and cuts litter the humanoid skin and scales alike. Anne gingerly traces the unmarred parts of her flesh, shuddering at the texture; she’s no stranger to fish, but that doesn’t mean the slimy, coarse part of her skin isn’t inherently gross.
Oh well. She can do this.
Marcy hardly flinches when Anne gently wipes at the cuts, cleaning up the edges. In fact, she turns her head, her hands trembling in the air as she awkwardly watches what Anne’s doing.
“I’m putting disinfectant on your cuts to clean them,” Anne explains, because Marcy’s curiosity has always been so grand and overwhelming, and talking out her thought process has always been a blessing when interacting with her. “That way they’ll heal faster, and you won’t get any bacteria in them, although… I still don’t know if that actually affects you or not, since you do live in the ocean. Afterwards, I’ll bandage them, so you don’t risk hurting yourself again.”
“Oh, okay,” Marcy says, her ears twitching eagerly. So many of her emotions are shown through her body language, since she still hasn’t quite mastered talking yet.
Anne quickly finishes cleaning and bandaging the cuts, and she leans back to examine her work, smiling proudly. “There. All better!”
Marcy spins around in the tub, spilling even more water out the sides as she dips under the surface and then comes back up, testing her own mobility. “All better!” She parrots, clapping her hands together eagerly.
Despite the mess of water and everything else going on, Anne can’t help but smile. How can people think to hurt something so precious?

Yet Another Pirate AU
I think a Marcanne pirate/mermaid au would be rad in which Marcy is a timid nautical scientist girl who’s only option for sailing to study the seas was a pirate ship and she just rolled with it and Anne is a mermaid who’s too energetic and friendly to be afraid of pirates so she just jumps up next to the ship to see what’s up and Marcy has to frantically convince everyone to be chill and let her vibe and then they just start talking and one thing leads to another and...
