EXCLUSIVE: Liberty X’s Kevin Simm Lifts The Lid On The Voice Clash Between Paloma Faith And Boy George
Tumblr media
This Saturday’s episode of The Voice is going to be unmissable telly as new coaches Paloma Faith and Boy George come to blows over one contestant in particular — and he just so happens to be a former member of Liberty X!
Kevin Simm, who scored No.1 hit Just A Little with the pop band in 2002, admits he was blindsided by the awkward clash between the judges that left Paloma running off set in tears.
“I just remember thinking they were being sarcastic towards each other, that it was a bit of banter … I remember a few catty remarks, I thought it was a laugh, but apparently it wasn’t,” he exclusively told Yahoo Celebrity.
The heated exchange occurred as George, 54, was giving his verdict on Kevin’s performance of Chandelier by Sia. Paloma, meanwhile, pretended to be falling asleep.
She said, "Is it finished, is it time for us to wake up?"
George hit back, "That's extremely rude. Very rude."
Tumblr media
The Culture Club singer went on to remind Paloma he has “had a few” hits in the US - and she hasn’t. The drama continued, resulting in Paloma temporarily leaving the set.
Kevin first shot to fame on the original pop reality show, Popstars, in 2000 and went on to form Liberty X with the show’s other unsuccessful four finalists Kelli Young, Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor and Tony Lundon.
At the height of their fame they scored a massive No.1 with Just A Little and had a string of Top 10 hits.
The group called it a day in 2007 but briefly got back together for ITV2′s The Big Reunion in 2013.
Kevin admits he was nervous auditioning for The Voice after having a successful pop career and then returning to normal life.
Tumblr media
“I was really worried,” he said. “When I filled in the application form I thought, ‘I could always turn back and not do it.’ Just being around the auditions and stuff, I was worried how people would perceive me and if I’d get any turns. I was worried about when they ask where you’re from and what you’ve done.”
Not one to brag about his past credentials, Kevin chose not to reveal his pop past to the coaches — but they managed to find out anyway. “Some of the crowd shouted it out and that’s how it came out [to the coaches],” he explained.
Tumblr media
The 35-year-old singer said he’s received support from his fellow Liberty X bandmates ahead of his audition airing on TV but it’s unlikely his newfound fame will spur a reunion.
Kevin said, “We never planned to do a [reunion], we got asked to do The Big Reunion and that was it really for us. It just would never work for us to do something like that again as a five-piece.”
Sadly for fans of the pop group, you shouldn’t expect Kevin to whip out Just A Little on The Voice if he manages to make it through to the live shows.
“No, I don’t think so,” he laughed when asked if he’d perform the No.1 smash hit. “I’m very proud of everything we achieved but I don’t think I could sing that whole song as well as the girls. I’d probably leave that.”
The Voice airs on Saturday at 7.45pm on BBC One

EXCLUSIVE: Britain’s Got Talent Judges Turn The Air Blue With Racy Innuendo
Tumblr media
The jury’s still out on whether Britain’s got talent this year — but the BGT judges have definitely got the XXX factor.
Amanda Holden and David Walliams had audience members both in fits of giggles and a state of shock with a saucy exchange of words at London auditions on Wednesday.
Amanda, 44, kicked off the unexpected sex storm as she told one act that they needed to “come in harder and faster at the top”.
This obviously led to the crowd sniggering away like little schoolchildren hearing ‘willy’ in assembly.
Tumblr media
Realising that her words could be taken rather crudely, Amanda quickly followed up: “There are children in the audience!”
But leave it to comic David, 44, to have the last word, as he teased the veteran judge on her choice of words and her bedroom exploits.
“Can it be gentle and loving, or does it always need to be hard and fast?” he asked her.
Tumblr media
It’s safe to say the judges are on top form again this year as David and Amanda join Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon on the panel.
Following auditions in Liverpool and five days of filming at London’s Dominion Theatre, the judges will wrap their audition tour next week in Birmingham.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV in the spring

Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi Says New Companion Will Be ‘Different’
Tumblr media
With Jenna Coleman now joining Billie Piper and Catherine Tate in the land of assistants of old, Doctor Who fans are eagerly awaiting news of the Time Lord’s next companion.
The Twelfth Doctor himself Peter Capaldi has hinted that casting is under way for a new companion and they will be vastly different from Jenna’s Clara Oswald.
Could we see a male companion, perhaps? Or even an alien from another planet?!
Speaking to Radio Times, Capaldi said: "We’ve just had some brief talks about it, we haven’t actually chosen someone yet — that I know of.
“Perhaps someone has been chosen but I would expect that I would meet them before we finalised all that.
Tumblr media
"So we’re looking for someone different.”
Jenna bowed out of Doctor Who at the end of the ninth season last year.
Her departure was followed by news that show boss Steven Moffat has also decided to quit the show and will be replaced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall in 2018.
Moffat’s final season will air in 2017, meaning that fans can only expect a Christmas special this year.

EXCLUSIVE: EastEnders’ Sid Owen Thinks It’s Wrong To Kill Off Peggy Mitchell
Tumblr media
EastEnders icon Sid Owen, who has played Ricky Butcher on and off since 1988, has admitted he’s not too pleased with the soap’s decision to kill off another major character.
Sid, 44, was unhappy with top brass’ decision to kill off his step mum Pat Evans in 2012. Now he’s “shocked” that Peggy Mitchell, played by Dame Barbara Windsor, will see a similar fate this spring.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity, he said: “I thought it was wrong when they killed Pat off … these are huge, iconic characters. In acting it doesn’t matter what age you retire. I think it’s a bit of a shock.”
Asked if he feels it’s the wrong decision, Sid added: “Oh, absolutely.”
Tumblr media
Peggy’s demise comes after soap legend Barbara decided to bow out of EastEnders for good and requested boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins write off the character.
“I’ll be gutted to see her away from the cast. She’s been a huge, integral part of it,” said Sid.
As for a comeback of his own, the actor added: “There are no immediate plans. If I got asked, I’d go back in a flash.”
What about returning with his long-time co-star Patsy Palmer, who played BIanca Jackson? Sid said: “I think it’s too soon. She’s loving life in LA, she’s settled, the kids are loving it.”
Tumblr media
Sid will join a host of celebs including Sarah Harding, Mark-Francis Vandelli and James Argent on the new series of The Jump and says there’s one celeb who is giving all the other stars a run for their money.
He explained, “Well, obviously, there are some athletes here. One that I think is going to do well is Beth Tweddle. I’ve skied for years, but she’s taken to it like a natural. She’s conditioned, she’s an athlete and she’s got a lot of bottle.”
This year’s series of The Jump will see all of the celebs live together for the first time and Sid has already struck up some unlikely friendships with TOWIE’s Arg and Made in Chelsea’s Mark-Francis.
Tumblr media
[Photo: WENN]
He revealed, “I’ve really bonded with Brian [McFadden]. Arg is a great spirit, lovely kid, and Mark-Francis is hilarious.”
Along with millions of other fans, one rather famous will be tuning in when The Jump kicks off on Sunday—Sid’s famous friend Adele.
“I’m sure she will watch if she’s in the country,” Sid replied when we asked about the Hello warbler.
The Jump begins on Sunday 31 January at 7.30pm on Channel 4

Celebrity Big Brother 2016: Ofcom Clears Winston McKenzie’s Controversial Comments
Tumblr media
[Photo: FameFlynet]
Ofcom has ruled that it won’t investigate complaints about Winston McKenzie’s comments in the opening episode of Celebrity Big Brother.
In his introductory VT, the former UKIP MP said: “I would cope with a homosexual in the house… I would just stand with my back against a brick wall the whole time.”
The controversial remarks sparked 418 complaints to the media watchdog.
However, Ofcom says it is “satisfied” with precautions taken by Channel 5 to ensure viewers were aware of potentially offensive content.
Tumblr media
They said, “We are satisfied that Channel 5 broadcast clear and appropriate warnings about the potentially offensive content, and intervened in heated exchanges and situations at appropriate times.
“We have also taken into account the audience’s expectations of this well-established reality format, and that the series is aired after the watershed.”
Winston was the first housemate evicted on CBB after just three days in the house.
But he caused outrage in the house, as well as out of it, when he likened a gay couple adopting a child to ‘child abuse’.
Tumblr media
Speaking after leaving the house, Winston denied any “grotesque” homophobic comments.
"I don't know who said that. I deny any allegation - I think that's a grotesque statement to make,” he said.
“I genuinely do not remember saying that unless someone has some tape and then they need to come forward. But I don’t remember saying something like that.”

Jimmy Carr’s ‘Offensive’ Dwarf Joke On The One Show Broke Ofcom Rules
Tumblr media
[Photo: WENN]
Ofcom has deemed that a joke told by Jimmy Carr on BBC’s The One Show last year breached broadcasting rules.
The comedian’s “offensive” quip about ‘dwarf shortage’ sparked 11 complaints in November 2015.
Appearing as a guest on the talk show, Jimmy told host Alex Jones and fellow guest Rod Stewart he once tried to come up with a two-word joke.
He said, “I tried to write the shortest joke possible. So I wrote a two-word joke which was: ‘Dwarf shortage’. It’s just so I could pack more jokes into the show.”
The Channel 4 star then continued: “If you’re a dwarf and you’re offended by that, grow up.”
Tumblr media
Following an investigation the media watchdog has now ruled the show was in breach of broadcasting standards.
“We found this programme broke broadcasting rules because of offensive comments made by comedian Jimmy Carr,” said Ofcom.
“We found Jimmy Carr’s comments, which attempted to derive humour from the medical condition of dwarfism, were capable of causing considerable offence.
“Although one of the presenters made an apology towards the end of the programme, we considered it was not sufficient to mitigate the offence caused by Mr Carr’s remarks.”

The whole world seems to be talking about Leonardo DiCapri’s fictional bear attack in new movie The Revenant—but that’s nothing compared to Sue Aikens’ story.
In new documentary Life Below Zero, the Alaskan woman relives the very real bear attack that left her fighting for her life.
Tumblr media
Sue was mauled by a bear and left for dead in freezing temperatures for 10 days as she waited to be found.
Describing the moment the bear bit into her skull, she said: “It’s very difficult to have something put its jaws on your head, you feel it going into your skull, you feel the skull being compromised, you’re hoping he doesn’t crush it.”
What a brave soul!

Big Brother’s Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace Faces Trial For TV Spat
Tumblr media
Former Big Brother star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace faces prosecution in March following a live TV spat with American reality star Farrah Abraham on Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Side last year.
The heated exchange saw Aisleyne allegedly throw champagne at Farrah. She is charged with assault, as it’s claimed Farrah was injured in the fray, and criminal damage to the dress.
Tumblr media
The on-set fight last September resulted in ‘Allo ‘Allo actress Vicki Michelle being taken to hospital.
Farrah received a police caution for the altercation but Aisleyne, 37, reportedly refused and now faces trial after the Crown Prosecution Service opted to move forward with the charges.
Supermodel Janice Dickinson was also cautioned by police for allegedly throwing a chair.
Tumblr media
The £15,000 trial could see the likes of BOTS host Rylan Clark, two producers and Vicki give evidence, reports The Sun.
"We consider all cases in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors," a CPS spokesperson said.
Aisleyne denied the charges at a hearing in Stevenage last week.

EXCLUSIVE Lauren Pope: ‘Gemma Collins Is Treating People Like Staff On CBB’
Former TOWIE star Lauren Pope had a huge falling out with Celebrity Big Brother’s Gemma Collins on the ITVBe reality show last year and it’s safe to say they won’t be patching things up any time soon.
Lauren, like a lot of viewers, has been shocked by Gemma’s attitude on CBB but admits it’s not the first time she’s seen her behave this way.
Tumblr media
Just last night Gemma appalled viewers with her treatment of a professional hairdresser that Big Brother had laid on for her.
Speaking to Yahoo Celebrity, Lauren said: “She’s just acting the way I remember her which is treating everyone like they’re her staff.
“If people are stupid enough to go along with it then that’s their own fault, you can’t blame her. That’s why we didn’t get on because I wouldn’t put up with it.”
But Lauren, 33, says she can see her and Gemma patching things up now she’s put TOWIE behind her.
“Probably we will [make up] because now I’m not on the show I see everything completely differently,” she explained.
Tumblr media
[Photo: Vrumi]
“When you’re in it you do get completely wound up by everything. But now I’m not in it, if I saw her I would say hi.
“I actually enjoy watching her I do find her entertaining and funny, so there’s no major grudge being held there.”
Since quitting TOWIE, Lauren has been hard at work building up her own hair extensions brand, Hair Rehab London, and her products have been a hit with the likes of Little Mix and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
So, we asked, which celebrity would she love to send to hair rehab? “Who has really awful hair extensions? Britney Spears – I’m a massive Britney fan, I do love her, but every now and then she just doesn’t quite get it right. So sometimes you spot her with big chunk of hair from bad extensions.” Awkward...
Tumblr media
[Photo: Vrumi]
As for stars like Kylie Jenner sporting shorter hair than usual and claiming it’s all natural, Lauren—who has been working with sharing economy service Vrumi, which allows people to rent their homes as work spaces during the day—has other ideas.
She said, “I think they’re  all lying when they say they’re going extension-free. They still have extensions in, they’re just cut short, that’s my theory.
“I do it, I have shorter hair but I still have a full head of extensions in.
“I think people go through phases where they think the thing to do is say they’re going au naturel and say they’re not having Botox anymore and they’re not having extensions but they do, they just do it secretly.”
Lauren Pope is the face of Vrumi’s Take a Leap campaign. She uses Vrumi to find spaces for business meetings, photo shoots and Hair Rehab London academy days.

EastEnders Pictures: Ryan Malloy’s Return Shakes Up Walford
Tumblr media
EastEnders viewers got a shock last week when Ryan Malloy made a surprise return in Friday’s episode and it looks like he’ll be sticking around to get to know his daughter Lily.
After Stacey Branning’s scary behaviour in the Queen Vic last week, as she battles postpartum psychosis, Whitney Dean called her brother concerned about Lily’s wellbeing.
In pictures from tonight’s episode, the brooding returnee is seen spending some quality time with Lily and getting reacquainted with Albert Square.
But how will Stacey and Martin Fowler react when they hear about his return? And more importantly, will the police catch up to him?
Tumblr media
Ryan, played by Neil McDermott, has been on the run for the last few years after killing Rob Grayson, who sexually exploited his sister Whitney.
Lily’s dad made a brief return in 2014 when Whitney called him concerned about her niece as Stacey was imprisoned for killing Archie Mitchell.
Ryan’s return is the latest in a long line of surprise reappearances from past Walford characters.
In just the last few weeks viewers have seen both Peggy Mitchell and Jack Branning back in the soap.

EastEnders airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One

11.22.63: JJ Abrams And James Franco Show Coming To FOX
Tumblr media
Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams’ return to TV has found a home in the UK on FOX.
11.22.63, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, will air exclusively on the channel this spring.
The sci-fi show stars Hollywood actor James Franco as a schoolteacher who travels back in time in order to stop the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, hence the title.
The nine-part event series promises twists and turns as Franco’s character Jake Epping crosses paths with JFK’s alleged killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, and faces pushback from the past itself, which doesn’t want to be changed.
FOX’s Caleb Weinstein said: “The golden age of television is being driven by serialised drama. And in 2016 FOX channels across Europe are at the forefront: delivering on-demand access to the best content in the world, whenever and wherever our Pay TV subscribers want to watch.”
The highly anticipated drama is due to air in the US next month via streaming service Hulu.

No New Doctor Who In 2016 As Boss Steven Moffat Quits
Tumblr media
[Photo: WENN]
Doctor Who fans have been dealt a double blow as the BBC has announced it will push back the next series to 2017 following show boss Steven Moffat’s decision to quit the hit drama.
Moffat took the reins of the TARDIS from Russell T. Davies in 2010 and ushered in a new era for Doctor Who with Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. He is currently the visionary behind Peter Capaldi’s adventures as the Twelfth Doctor.
Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall has already been announced as Moffat’s successor, taking over the show in 2018.
Tumblr media
Steven said, “Feels odd to be talking about leaving when I’m just starting work on the scripts for season 10, but the fact is my timey-wimey is running out.
“While Chris is doing his last run of Broadchurch, I’ll be finishing up on the best job in the universe and keeping the TARDIS warm for him. It took a lot of gin and tonic to talk him into this, but I am beyond delighted that one of the true stars of British Television drama will be taking the Time Lord even further into the future. At the start of season 11, Chris Chibnall will become the new showrunner of Doctor Who. And I will be thrown in a skip.”
BBC One boss Charlotte Moore confirmed that the next series of Doctor Who, originally scheduled to air this year, will now air in the spring of 2017.
Viewers can still look forward to a Christmas special in December, however.
Tumblr media
Chris Chibnall and the Broadchurch cast [Photo: WENN]
Charlotte said, “I have decided to schedule Steven’s big finale series in spring 2017 to bring the nation together for what will be a huge event on the channel. 2016 is spoilt with national moments including the Euros and Olympics and I want to hold something big back for 2017 - I promise it will be worth the wait!”
New boss Chris Chibnall, who has worked with Tenth Doctor David Tennant on hit crime drama Broadchurch, added: “I’ve loved Doctor Who since I was four years old, and I’m relishing the thought of working with the exceptional team at BBC Wales to create new characters, creatures and worlds for the Doctor to explore.”

One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson ‘Becomes Dad To Baby Son’
Tumblr media
[Photo: WENN]
Louis Tomlinson is a father!
The One Direction star, 24, reportedly welcomed a baby boy with Briana Jungwirth, who gave birth in Los Angeles on Thursday (21 January).
It’s thought Louis was present.
A source said, “Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother.”
“It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer,” the insider added to PEOPLE.com.
Tumblr media
Louis and Briana briefly dated last May following his split from Eleanor Calder. He has since moved on and sparked up a new relationship with American actress Danielle Campbell.
Speaking at the auditions for Britain’s Got Talent in London earlier today, 1D boss Simon Cowell played coy about the baby arrival news but admitted he’s happy to play godfather to Louis’ firstborn.
He said, "We'll have to wait and see. I'm godfather to a lot of kids now, but I would if he asked."
Tumblr media
Just days ago, Briana posted a picture of her baby bump on Instagram and hinted she was due to give birth soon.
She captioned the pic, “so ready for you my love !! (sic)”
Congrats to Louis and Briana!

EXCLUSIVE: Simon Cowell ‘Not Interested’ In What Zayn Malik Has To Say
Tumblr media
[Photo: FameFlynet]
One Direction boss Simon Cowell isn’t worried about Zayn Malik’s candid comments about the band since quitting in March 2015.
In an interview with Billboard magazine earlier this month, Zayn admitted he isn’t close to his former band mates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. He also revealed he wasn’t a fan of their recent single Perfect.
Zayn told the mag, "I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time." Ouch!
Tumblr media
With Zayn’s debut solo album imminent and lots of promo on the horizon—including his first TV interview next week with Graham Norton—we couldn’t help but ask Simon if he’s worried what else the Bradford singer might say about the group.
Ever so blunt, Simon told Yahoo Celebrity: “I’m not interested in a  single word he says, but I am interested in what he sings.”
As it happens, Simon has heard some of Zayn’s new music and he’s impressed!
Speaking at the London auditions for Britain’s Got Talent series 10 today (22 January), he added: “I’ve heard it, it’s good, he’s going to do well.”
Tumblr media
Shifting his focus back to the remaining One Direction boys, who have now begun their hiatus, Simon told us he felt “emotional” watching the music video for their final single History.
“I just saw the video last night and, God, it makes you feel emotional. When that drops you’re going to see another lease of life for that record.
“I did get emotional watching it.”
AWW, you big softie!

Louisa Johnson ‘Had The Wrong Debut Song’ Admits Simon Cowell
Tumblr media
[Photo: WENN]
X Factor boss Simon Cowell is holding his hands up and admitting Louisa Johnson’s disappointing chart debut last month was his fault.
The 17-year-old became the first X Factor winner to miss out on a No.1 hit when her cover of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young—released through the music magnate’s Syco label—debuted at No. 9 before sliding off the singles chart.
Asked if he was disappointed by the low chart position, Simon told Yahoo Celebrity: “Yeah, I was. But truthfully I think it was the wrong song, so I wasn’t surprised.
Tumblr media
“But that’s what you do when you do this job, you live and learn, you take the responsibility and, boy, you don’t repeat it.”
Despite the low chart effort, Simon isn’t ready to give up on Louisa just yet and it seems he still has big plans for the youngster.
“She’s still a star,” he added when we spoke to him at the London auditions for Britain’s Got Talent series 10.
Tumblr media
Louisa’s debut song was released just after she won The X Factor and debuted at No. 9. By the time the Christmas charts rolled around a week later, it had dropped to No. 12.
It’s thought her debut album could be rush-released next month as Amazon lists an on-sale date of 26 February.
