A Really Bad Idea 3
Pairing: Fighter!Howie Stark x Writer!Reader
Warnings: Lies, secrets, cheating, scandal, criminal history, spice, obsessed Fangirl, violence, anger, and honestly no idea cause I’m not finished writing this just yet.
There is no such thing as an instant spark.              In books, sure. Real life? Not so much.                 Till I met the perfect stranger.                   It honestly was a case of mistaken identity in my own panicked state. I didn’t mean to grab a strangers hand. I just needed to avoid my ex and his shiny new fiancee. I never planned on the stranger kissing me.                   I sure as hell didn’t plan for the stranger to by my friends brother. It never was in the cards for me to find someone else after what my ex did to me. Especially a Fighter with a closed off past. I’m struggling to write my book and move on with my life, but what do I do when he comes in and starts changing things for me.         But the thing my ex taught me people aren’t who they say they are, what if Howie isn’t who he says he is?

I caught Sam when we were getting off the plane. Telling him about drinks and dinner. We swap numbers with the promised to drop my location to him. Perhaps having my friends meet him would settle if I should see if there’s anything there or not. My friends would either scare him off or accept him into the folds.
We dashed home, showering and changing. When Bucky texted where to meet. Quickly sending it to Sam, before leaving the apartment. Excited to see my friends; it was a long weekend and I couldn’t wait to tell them all about the event.
Bucky picked one of my favorite places, Johnny’s. It’s a bar, restaurant. But nice, not a hole in the wall. It was smack dap right in the center of where all of us live. Which only made it even better.
Reaching up on my toes, looking for them. Cursing my height, for the millionth time that day. Finding Bucky waving from a table. We manage to get there, without losing each other. The table big and round. Bucky, Nat and Wanda already there.
“Vegas chew you up and spit you out?” Nat laughs, hugging me.
“No, but Gwen had a hell of a hangover.” I laugh, wiggling into a stool.
“Fuck off.” Gwen grins, checking her phone. “Peter and Howie are almost here.” She announces.
Gwen and Peter are a complicated story. They’ve knew each other since high school, but lost contact during college. Recently they happened to find one another again, strangely enough in a book shop. They’re in a weird place of getting back together and dancing around their feelings for each other.
“Oh I invited a friend.” I perk up.
“You have other friends?” Bucky fakes an offended gasp.
“Fuck off.” Squinting at him. “I actually met him at the meet and greet. Turns out he lives here too. He’s a nice guy.” I shrug, a smile on my lips.
“He kissed her cheek.” Gwen wiggles her brow.
“Saucy!” Nat grins.
“Hope you used protection.” Wanda laughs.
“Wow, you go to Vegas. The sin capital and you get kissed on the cheek. When did you turn into a nun?” Buck grins.
“It wasn’t even like that big of a thing. It was just him being nice. Besides who knows if it’s anything. He’s a writer, I’m a writer. Maybe he just wants to be friends.” I wave my hand.
“I mean, from what Steve’s saying. He saw you in a full on make out with some guy the night of the festival.” Bucky smirks, picking up his beer glass. I flush, dipping my head.
“Who were you kissing?” Nat grins.
“Nobody.” I scoff, trying to not grin.
“Liar!” Wanda laughs.
“I really don’t know. I never got his name.” Chewing my bottom lip.
“Just making out with random strangers and not saying anything?” Gwen stares at me.
“I was avoiding Steve and Sharon. I thought he was Peter. Kind of looked like him from behind. Was not Peter. He was just helping me avoid that whole extra pathetic scene from happening.” I explain shrugging.
“And you just happen to make out with him?” Nat nods.
“I didn’t make out with him. And why are you talking to Steve about me?” I huff, rolling my eyes.
“I wasn’t, he asked who you were dating.” Buck shrugs.
“Why does it matter to him?” Nat scoffs. Buck shrugs again.
“Hey!” Peter calls. My phone dings, a text from Sam saying he’s close. “Guys, this is my brother. Howie. How, everyone.” Peter chuckles. My head comes up, a grin on my lips. Ready to introduce myself.
I freeze, staring at the tall man standing next to Peter.
My Perfect Stranger.
“You.” He grins.
“You.” Warmth blooms in my chest. Tugging on my bottom lip.
“Do you two know each other?” Peter looks between the two of us. The others doing the same.
“Ah.” I laugh, embarrassed.
“No, not really. Just ran into her once.” Howie smirks at me.
“Yeah, that.” I grin, shaking my head.
“Why are you grinning like that?” Bucky looks confused.
“Vegas high.” I lie.
“How was it?” Peter lights up sitting down next to Gwen. It left two seats open on either side of me. Howie takes the one next to his brother.
“Good. A lot of fun. Gwen got trashed.” I nod, still grinning.
“What were you in Vegas for?” Howie smiles.
“A meet and greet.”
“She met someone.” Nat taunts.
“Oh my god.” I slap a hand over my face.
Sam!
“He’s just another mutual writer.” I roll your eyes.
“Who kissed her.” Gwen adds. I give her a pointed look.
“That happen a lot? Random guys kissing you?” Howie lifts a brow.
“Oh it was on the cheek.” I smirk. He grins nodding.
“Weak.” He mutters under his breathe. A cocky grin on his lips.
The waitress arrives. Everyone throws in their drink orders. Just as they arrive Sam appears.
“Wilson!” Bucky laughs, getting up. They’re bro hugging, Gwen and I look confused.
“I didn’t know you were going to be here. You don’t have a date with your hair?” Sam laughs.
Oh my god are they friends?
“Funny, take a night off from only being able to score through your own books?” Buck chuckles.
“I’m sorry, I missed something.” I lift a finger.
“Wait, what?” Bucky looks confused.
“Sam, is who I met in Vegas.” I point out.
“No shit?” Bucky nods.
“Bucky and I were in the military together.” Sam explains.
“The fuck.” I laugh.
“Small fucking world.” Gwen smirks.
“Ah Sam, Nat, Peter, Howie, Wanda.” Bucky introduces him.
“Nice to meet you all.” He smiles, taking the seat next to me. Oh good, trapped between two guys. This should be fun.
“So how was Vegas for you?” Nat asks, sipping her drink.
“Fun. Never been for the meet and greet. It was more than I expected.” He chuckles, the waitress is back. He quickly orders. Nat is wiggling her brows at me.
“So Y/N, how’s that last book coming?” Wanda grins, leaning in.
“Ugh!” I slap a hand over your face.
“Wait, you’re a writer?” Howie looks over at me.
“I am.” I smile. Heat rushes me, under his gaze. “That’s what I was in Vegas for. It’s a Authors meet and greet event.” I explain.
“Might have to look up one of your books.” He nods, smiling softly.
“She plays with your feelings and gets you all hot and bothered.” Gwen laughs. I inhale my sip of my drink.
Howie just grins, nodding. “I’m sure she does.”
I suck in a breath, letting it out slowly.
