Highest highlight of my @blerdcon weekend was I got to finally meet in person one of my absolute favorite cosplayers of all time @justyeliz and she was an absolute crazy ball of energy and love! My main reason coming to this con was to finally meet her, to have not only met her but also say they love my Noob had me hype as hell. 20 years ago I had the honor of shooting @schwarzenegger during an interview for @muscleandfitness magazine. During my shoot a very young @patrickschwarzenegger stopped by his dad’s Santa Monica office and I asked Arnold if I could take a photo of them together. I knew he did not want his children photographed so I wanted to ask first. He said that it was not a problem so I quickly told Patrick to hit a double biceps.... which he executed perfectly. Nothing tops the joy a parent has when you know your raising a happy child. Last night i had the opportunity to give Willa something she has been wanting "forever" the chance to meet an idol of hers that still alive. In the past two years we have introduced her to the music and artist we love. Of course she found an instant love for James Brown, MJ amd Prince. With this love affair came the question each time. "Daddy i want to meet James Brown" "Daddy i really love Michael Jackson when can i meet him" ? Well imagine having to tell your (then 3yr old)about death already...... Then you introduced her to Prince's music and she ask the same thing.....Then two months later we all get the bad news of his passing and she watches us mourn and celebrate his muisc, but once again she never gets to meet him. From that point i made it my mission to introduce her every artist i have worked with. See she was was in the womb during the recording of Robert Glasper experiment "Black Radio" lp (which Jewell and i documented) and went to the last Black Star concert in Los Angeles and Erykah blessed Jewell's belly a few months after and one month before she was born we saw Ms Lauryn Hill so lets say she has kindred connection with them all just like her Mama and Baba. So far she has met our brothers from De La Soul, Alice Smith, her Aunties KING, her favorite guys" Yasiin and Kweli and her uncle Robert Glasper.
