I am unfaithfully yours, for better or worse.
IkeSen Ranmaru x Mai (mc)
In which Mai knows Ranmaru is a spy... but falls in love with him despite knowing better. And she thinks it's about high time she took matters into her own hands, fate be damned.
tw: mentions of blood and injury (no death), mentions of war and torture but nothing detailed in the slightest, ikesen spoilers! bits & pieces from all sorts of different routes tho so it's all jumbled up lore. please lmk if i forgot to tag anything!
──────────── 〔✿〕 ────────────
- mai knows by now that ranmaru is a spy, and she tries to secretly meet up with kennyo to talk him out of this war
( cue sentimental flashbacks to peaceful days sneaking off to peach trees at the outskirts of azuchi, a montage of sunshine and smiles )
- she tells him that revenge will only bring more death to the people and that peace would be the only salvation for them all
- after things go south (motonari shows up) ranmaru enters and covers for her to escape
. . .
- fast forward to a break in battle with oda vs the uesugi-takeda
- mai makes a sort of sleep bomb to knock out their enemies and save ieyasu, who had been captured after injury
- sasuke helps mai carry him out to safety, then goes back to pretend to be unconscious with the others
- he didn't knock out bc mai had given him a special mask to filter it out previously w/out his knowledge (sasuke just thought it was a nice gift, or perhaps a way to tell him his old one was in need of replacing)
- escapes back to oda forces with ieyasu in tow (albeit slowly and stealthily)
- after returning, mai and ranmaru go off to be distractions while the warlords strategize and wait for ieyasu to get patched up
- they (mitsuhide) recognize that ranmaru is too agile for a page, he almost seems like a ...ninja? and wonder where/when mai learned how to fight and plan like she's doing now
- the two had always been very close after she saved ranmaru in the beginning of her stay, but this seemed like practiced ease between the two... surely not..?
- they find out (or rather confirm) that mai is from the future, and ask if she saved ieyasu bc he's important to the timeline and such, to which she says she can't explain anything in the future bc of the dangers of the butterfly effect
- mai explains certain things in the past that didn't happen due to her intervention and why she's so worried about the future now with this odd three-way war (the past being nobunaga & kenshin/shingen's deaths)
- she then explains that while she was out luring and distracting enemies, she ran into yoshimoto on her way back
(cue flashback)
- mc runs into yoshimoto, both armed with a single weapon (his fan, her dagger) but no desire to fight one another. it is implied yoshimoto may harbor feelings towards mc or at least certainly cares for her safety
- they trade information regarding kennyo: she explains that she believes he's working with motonari, to which yoshimoto confirms, adding on that they've teamed up with kicho and the former shogun (and his dogs daimyos)
- they question each other about things and find out that 1) mai has met up with him privately when she tried to save ranmaru and 2) yoshimoto has been contacted for recruitment from this entourage of third party enemies. yoshimoto wants nothing to do with them, but his former clanmates want nothing but war and vengeance, so he's caught between a rock and a hard place at the moment (hence his current disappearance from the battles)
- they decide to part ways once ranmaru comes looking for her, & they all can't help but worry
- when they get back though, having arrived separately, mai is greeted by the news that the oda forces are tending to ieyasu.. and notices they seem to have constrained ranmaru for questioning while she was explaining the info she got from yoshimoto (which they obviously question how/why she got as well)
- she explains that they're friends from before they knew anything about their alliances, and that they only exchanged info on third party enemies, not about their own groups
- mitsuhide outs ranmaru as kennyo's spy n felt of everything, which prompts mai uses herself as a hostage
- she explains everything with his situation and how he's not actually on either side, but rather torn between people he admires: kennyo, who raised him like a father, and nobunaga, who took him in and gave him his current environment to flourish in
- obviously however, the oda forces don't care bc a spy's a spy, and they're about ready to beat him to death for answers before...
- ...mai holds up a knife to her own throat and attempts a last ditch bargain, trying to judge her worth after all that's just transpired. "if i mean anything, you'll keep him alive, but otherwise.. you lose us both, and all the info we have"
- they don't believe she'll do it, though their eyes widen as she slices across her neck to get their attention, but when they still don't budge, mai proceeds to stab herself right in the chest (trying to purposely aim for where it wouldn't kill her.. but they don't know that)
- everyone proceeds to panic, shoving her off to the medical tent, whilst keep ranmaru captive (he's too horrified from the sight of his love flashing before his eyes to do much of anything except get pushed around)
. . .
- flash forward to mc waking up at ieyasu's palace, extremely weak and in excruciating pain
- he explains that she's been out for a little over a month now, and has received surgery and multiple treatments even just to be stable. he wonders how she even survived at all
- she asks (as best as she is currently able to) as to why she was kept alive.. and whatever happened to ranmaru after that day
- he explains that while they believe she is aiming for peace and don't see her as too much of a threat, it was mainly bc they wanted more info she had about the enemies, and wanted to know how to build her her sleep bombs, etc.
- ieyasu also explains that ranmaru's been in the dungeons and they've been.. questioning him, but she knows exactly what that entails, grimacing both in pain for herself and his sake
- on the other side, after roughly a month's worth of brutal interrogations, a battered ranmaru emerges from the dungeons, granted an audience in the chambers usual reserved for war council
- nobunaga explains he has no use for a page who can't even pick what side he's on, and that he is not to return until he (at the very least) finally has the conviction to pick a master. deems him weak and spineless and all matter of insults, in front of present company of course
- ieyasu arrives just after the meeting starts with news of mai's brief awakening, to which ranmaru lights up immediately, relieved that she's even alive after all this time
- he asks if he can see her but before the others can say no, ieyasu says oh why the hell not, might as well let him see once her before you cast him out. although it comes out in a very him way, "he's had every chance to kill us before and let them all slip.. let alone the pitiful state the two are in. if people this weak could take over my castle, i wouldn't be here in the first place."
- and so they end up going to visit mai over at ieyasu's palace, but she's unconscious again due to the pain, especially after from more bitter medication and dealing with treatment when they'd spoken last. she even had to bite down on towels bc of the pain she endured
- mai's hand twitches at some point while the two are talking, and ranmaru holds it while crying, somewhat glad she can't see the depressing state he's currently in
- ieyasu explains that if he finally decides what side he's on, he's got a little place nearby he can stash him to update him on her wellbeing until she recovers, but that he's not to tell a single soul. they can decide what to do from there once she gives the oda the info they need
- after ranmaru leaves, ieyasu questions whether he's helping her because she had saved him so recklessly on enemy lines... or...
- (turns out he's secretly a hopeless romantic and he admires her courage and their dedication to each other, so he wants to help since they're genuinely nice people, all things considered. they didn't really want to fight in the first place, and he understands that.... but also he kinda feels like he owes mai and sasuke after that last battle)
- eventually, after thorough recovery, mai and ranmaru run off together, never once looking back at what was once their peaceful home in azuchi. they secretly consult sasuke for help, as they are unsure if to find somewhere to hide after kennyo's recent defeat/capture, or whether to go back to her time since he no longer has any family or where to go, and neither does mai now after they ran away
and from there, decisions must be made.....

Second second chances
Yukimura x oc (Aerin)
Tumblr media
📖 sfw / pg13 / angsty with a happy ending / 3.5k words
⚠️ death mention, pregnancy mention, allusions to depression & unhealthy coping mechanisms (all of this is mainly in passing), time skips, there's dialogue as the story progresses, i swear! 🙏🏻
🛑 major spoilers for yukimura's route, and potentially some light spoilers for kenshin and sasuke's as well
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, Aerin was given a second chance with her one and only, but this time, will they finally get their happy ending?
Our story starts out one stormy day in Japan, in which Aerin was on vacation and got caught in a nasty thunderstorm while sightseeing, and meets a man she later knows as Sasuke. They both fall into a wormhole and end up in the Sengoku era of Japan, roughly 500 years into the past. Sasuke arrives 4 years before the time in which Aerin lands, and they only reunite (and officially get to know one another) when she does. After Aerin ends up staying with the Oda in Azuchi Castle, she meets "Yuki", a traveling merchant with a foul mouth and not a hint of knowledge on women. The two clumsily fall in love, unbeknownst to them that they were each from enemy territory. Thus the chaos that was their Romeo and Juliet-esque love story began. The two fought tooth and nail to reunite and so they did, nearly three months after Aerin had landed in the Sengoku period, after she had chosen to give up on her future to focus on her past (with Yukimura). Until one fateful day when assassins who had mistakenly assumed the woman who now resided in Echigo's castle to be the God of War's, Kenshin's, woman. Yukimura, not having enough time to fight back as they had only been out on a walk and as such, distracted, ended up pushing Aerin out of the way, taking the sword meant to kill her instead. They managed to exchange some tearful last words ("I'm sorry I couldn't protect you.. I love you..) before he ultimately died in her arms, the loss of blood too much too fast for anyone to have survived. In a frenzy, Aerin takes Muramasa (Yukimura's sword) and kills the attacker who took her beloved from her, only to realize what she had done when the adrenaline wore off. Her hands had now been stained, and there was no coming back from this. She manages to bring the leader of the Sanada clan and his belongings back to Echigo, taking nothing for herself, and burying them altogether as is.
It's a very rough time in the castle, and she and Sasuke spend time together to keep the memory of him alive, even despite Shingen's worries that the two aren't coping healthily and need to work towards moving on. Aerin makes the decision to return to her time once the wormhole appears, given that her reason for staying is no longer among them, and that the pain of the memories they shared feels like it's suffocating her. Not even the presence of Yuki's pet wolf, Muramasa, was enough to comfort her anymore. It was only a matter of time before she could no longer handle the sad looks she received from those at the castle, or deal with the grief of being the reason why he had been taken from those they loved. Sasuke remains in the Sengoku period, for as much as he had always been in love with Aerin, he would never risk making a move on his best friend's fiancee when they were both so miserable, and he had his own found family to attend to now. Aerin had a pregnancy scare upon returning to her time, both terrified as to how she was going to explain a baby Sanada in the future, and somehow comforted by the thought of always having a piece of him with her. (Un)fortunately, it was just a scare after all, and she couldn't tell whether she was more relieved or disheartened by the news, knowing now that it would never and could never be. Unless...
...
Fast forward to the here and now, two years after everything happened. On a trip back to Japan, Aerin decides to try and make peace with everything that happened in her life prior. Reminiscing on when she first met Sasuke and how she unwillingly ended up a time traveler, before all of the good and the bad happened 500 years ago. It starts to rain after she approaches the monument where it all began, and she is hit by a strong sense of deja vu... suddenly, lightning strikes, but she never feels the pain, only opens her eyes after the bright light dissipates to find herself at the now familiar place she'd wound up in last: the very same temple she saved Nobunaga's life at. Stunned, she blinks at the flames for a moment, before making out the unconscious man on the floor. Had she really gone back in time... again? "Act fast, question later," she thinks, waking the man up and helping him out of the wreckage. The events play out nearly exactly as they did the last time, with her meeting the Oda and Uesugi-Takeda forces before ending up at Azuchi's castle. Only this time, she's baffled by the fact that Yukimura is still alive... and has no memory of his "boar-woman".
Determined to keep her live safe this time around, Aerin takes the first opportunity to convince Sasuke to let her run away with him to Echigo. It takes a lot of convincing for them to allow her to take refuge there, but once they do, everyone comes to appreciate Aerin's constant presence and assistance. All except one, poor Yukimura who just can't seem to understand why Aerin always seems so sad when he's around, or why she avoids being alone with him. Had he done something to offend her? Had one of the people he'd killed in battle been someone she knew? He just couldn't wrap his head around it no matter how hard he tried, and it didn't help that Yukimura wasn't even sure as to why it bothered him so much in the first place.
One day, when everyone was gathered for dinner and drinks, it is Kenshin who unintentionally opens the floodgates of emotion in Aerin's past. Some offhand comment he makes about not being able to change the past and losing those you care about triggers a drunken rambling from Aerin. About how she'd never be able to wipe the blood off her hands, how her blade had been forged for revenge, about how she'd never love again because she couldn't ever handle the pain again. Though Kenshin himself could relate, to an extent, he said nothing, opting to drink away his sorrows instead, as usual. By this point in time, it is known to everyone present (Sasuke, Kenshin, Shingen, Yukimura, and Yoshimoto) that Aerin comes from the future; however, no one, not even Sasuke, knows that this is actually her second trip back... yet.
It only takes a little more prodding from Shingen for Aerin to spill that she's not only back in time, but also back to back in time. They're all shocked to find out, but at the same time, something seems to click. How she knew so much about everyone and could read them so well, how she adapted so quickly, how her memory always seemed "fuzzy" because she couldn't tell if certain things had happened in this trip or the last. Suddenly, Shingen and Sasuke share a look, seemingly having figured out the missing piece of the puzzle. Yoshimoto eyes the trio curiously as the two men corner Aerin for some interrogation investigation, whilst Kenshin pretends to be disinterested. All the while Yukimura is still reeling, processing the knowledge that's been thrown at him like cold water to the face after a nap, wondering why his boss and best friend look like they're about to make Aerin cry. And again, he just can't seem to understand why it bothers him to see her hurting, but not in the way it would usually annoy him to see a someone so emotional and upset.
"It's Yukimura, isn't it?" Shingen gets straight to the point, knocking the air right out of Aerin's lungs. Too caught off guard to deny it, her face immediately gives the answer away, contorting in pain she only manages to mask all too late. "That's why you avoid him but always stare longing glances his way, isn't that right, goddess?" Exasperated, she sighs, but she doesn't deny his observations. After all, it was obvious to anyone that something didn't seem right about those two. "The reason you wanted to run away with me to Echigo was to keep an eye on him then, wasn't it?" Sasuke chimes in, thinking back to how her desperation to leave Azuchi to cross into enemy territory never made sense, given how well she was being treated there. The two give her looks of pity, attempting to comfort her, while Yukimura zones out during his conversation with Yoshimoto, fixated instead on the way Shingen's head is in her hair, and the way he grips his cup too tightly makes even Yoshimoto tilt his head in curiosity.
One breezy winter night, Aerin and Shingen are conversing in the latter's room, as he had wanted to know more about how her relationship with Yukimura was like, and what events lead up to how things played out. It would never not be painful for her to remember, but being able to talk about it now felt liberating, even moreso knowing that Yukimura was alive again and would continue to be, so long as she stayed away from him (or so her brain always screamed). Towards the tail end of the conversation, Yukimura happened to be passing by to deliver some news to Shingen, only to end up overhearing the tail end of a discussion that would forever change his life.
"As soon as I saw him alive and well, I just couldn't believe my eyes. I'd always blamed myself for his death but even just getting to speak to him again... I can't even put it into words. I missed Yukimura so much I couldn't bear the weight of it all. I was prepared to take his six coins and cross the river myself just to bring him back. Thank you so much for convincing Kenshin to let me stay here, Shingen, I truly owe you."
The dead fiance Aerin was always full of grief over... was him? He had not only been engaged to her, but had died to protect her? With so many thoughts now swirling in his head, he forgot all about the news he was meant to deliver and went walking off into the cold of the night, wandering aimlessly with his thoughts until he bumped into his one and only trusted best friend. Seeing the state the confused young warlord was in, Sasuke immediately invited the former into his room, making tea for awhile before Yukimura finally spoke up. "Did you know?" To which Sasuke furrowed his brows quizzically. "Did you know... it was me?" A few silent moments passed before Sasuke came to a conclusion. "Did I know it was you that Aerin was engaged to, you mean?" Yuki nods, his troubled expression and unfocused eyes making the ninja sigh at the sorry state he was in. "Shingen and I figured it out that night in the banquet hall," he confessed, "the way she avoided you like the plague made sense when you think of it. Aerin is likely convinced the same will happen again, and is afraid to risk the second chance you've been given. I'll wager she had meant to stay away altogether, but worried for you too much to be able to." "Why couldn't she just tell me that? Why would she just..." he trails off for a moment, "just deal with that all by herself?"
"I suppose it was for the very same reason she stays away from you, in order to protect you, in her own way." "But I fight in so many battles where I risk my life, that makes no sense." "Then perhaps she didn't want to influence you this time around. How would you feel if she had come up to you and told you she was your fiancee the day you both met in the Azuchi marketplace? Would you have even believed her?" Shaking his head, Yukimura starts to shed some clarity on the situation from her perspective. "Why would I? I had no idea who she was, much less that she wasn't even from around here yet." "Give it some time and she'll warm up to you again, you'll see," Sasuke grins knowingly at his bestie from over his teacup before adding one last remark. "Besides, why does it even trouble you so much, anyway?" The same question that had been ringing in his head since her (second) arrival was no less obvious to him than ever.
After that insightful conversation with Sasuke, Yukimura decidedly marches to Aerin's quarters, seeking answers that only she could have for him. As per his luck, however, Yukimura forgot to knock, being so used to being around other men all the time, and accidentally ends up seeing her in the bath. Aerin, who heard the door slide open, half rises out of the tub, expecting one of the maids to be stopping by with a towel and a change of clothes. Instead, she's met face to face with the crimson, wide-eyed face of her lover- no, her former lover. In a panic, Yukimura shuts the door and apologizes profusely, subconsciously making a mental note of everything he just accidentally took in.
It's funny, Aerin thinks, how she should be more flustered, but she had been with him so many times that even now she couldn't find it in her to feel any shame to be naked around Yuki. "Well, did you at least enjoy the show?" she jokes, trying to make light of the situation to ease him out of his awkwardness. She knew better than anyone that she was the only woman he'd ever been with, and given that they had yet to unite this time... he must be as shy as when they'd first met. Nostalgia rang in her heart and through her veins, making it harder than usual to keep the floodgate of tears at bay. Not taking the bait, Yukimura clears his throat and goes in for exactly what he came to ask about.
"Were you ever going to tell me?" he starts, unable to hide the betrayal he feels in his trembling voice, "Or were you just going to keep avoiding me like you couldn't stand my guts?" The words stab at Aerin's conscience, and the dam she'd so carefully been holding onto collapses, tears spilling freely down her cheeks.
"Yukimura... I just..." she steels herself before managing to choke out a reply. "I couldn't handle losing you again. I didn't want to risk getting close to you, but I just couldn't help it. I'm sorry," she sighs, sinking further into the tub until the water laps at her lips with every ripple.
"So... do you still love me?" he blurts out, unable to tamp down his burning curiosity.
"As much as I always did," she chuckles, but it's hollow, the sadness in it palpable even in the darkness of night. "But to tell you would be to risk influencing you, and I didn't ever want you to feel responsible for what happened in another timeline. You're free to love whoever you wish, please don't concern yourself with all this. I'll be alright, really." And young, stubborn Yukimura finally puts a name to the burdensome emotion that always managed to show up in Aerin's presence... love. Even in this timeline, even under such different circumstances, he had fallen in love with her all over again. Their silly banter at the marketplace, her strong will, her sense of justice, her empathy, the way they could never take their eyes off one another, wordlessly... all this time he'd been feeling jealous of Shingen and Sasuke for how much time they spent with her, of how well she got along with Yoshimoto, of the laughs they all shared together with her without... without him at her side.
Before he lost the courage to, the burning yearning within him took hold of the rational part of his brain, getting to his mouth first instead. "And who said I didn't care about you, dummy?" Her gasp was audible even from the other side of the screen, over even the splash of water from her arms coming up to cover her mouth in shock. Not even the half-hearted offense to play off his heartfelt words could get to her, if anything, she recalled their banter with more fondness than ever. 'I may be a dummy,' she thinks to herself, 'but I'm your dummy.'
Yuki starts up again before he loses the guts to continue wooing his girl, gods he loves the way that sounds, his girl, his Aerin. "What makes you think that I wouldn't fall in love with you all over again? Even despite knowing what happened, that's all in the past now, isn't it?" The emotions take hold and before she even knows what she's doing, Aerin had put on her night robes and pulled the door open just to see him again. Uncaring for the way the clothing sticks to her wet body or the way the night chill seeps into her dripping hair, she pants from the adrenaline of having all but run into his arms once more.
"What do you mean by that, Yuki?" The nickname tugs at his heartstrings, and somehow, he thinks, somehow... things will end up alright this time. The feeling in his gut when he sees her face lights up makes him wonder how he ever doubted that love was real, and he instantly knew why the past him had died protecting her. He'd do it again in a heartbeat too, he thought, if only he hadn't witnessed firsthand the effect his loss would have on her.
"It means... get over here and I'll show you," Yukimura's shit-eating grin is betrayed only by the breathlessness in his voice, too stunned by her happiness and how well she wears it. And with it finally being directed at him, he all but squints at her radiance. Without hesitation, Aerin throws herself onto Yukimura's lap, the two lovers reuniting for a long-awaited searing kiss, full of all the words unspoken between the Sengoku's own Yukio and Aerinette; and with no Shakespeare to write them a tragic ending, they would work towards writing their own, much happier ending this time.
...
"So you're telling me we uh... first... got together," Yukimura coughs, embarrassed to think about sleeping with the woman of his dreams in so vulgar a fashion, "in the middle of a warzone?"
Aerin tilts her head back as much as she can within his arms and laughs heartily, reminiscing on how different their firsts were the second time around. "Mhm," she confirms, "our first kiss was after a festival, with fireworks going off in the background and everything," the wistfulness apparent in her eyes as well as her voice. "But after we'd found out we were enemies, we snuck out in the middle of the night and sought each other out. One thing let to another and well, in the heat of the moment..." she grins over at her lover, who is currently trying to find a hole in the ground big enough to jump into.
"How did we even.. I mean.. I didn't.. hurt you or anything, did I?" She's touched by the sincerity in his voice, but even then, after all she's been through, Aerin can't help but want to tease him a little bit more. After all, it had been years since they'd last had a moment together, at least for her.
"Oh, that," she taps at her chin, trying to mask the amusement on her features, "you kind of just used my kimono as a blanket, really. Ugh, we got leaves EVERYWHERE." It is only when she chokes on her laughter at his sputtering that he realizes she was messing with him, and despite his embarrassment, he can't find it in him to stay mad when she only just started smiling again, real smiles at that. So instead, he takes out his revenge by tickling her sides with his calloused hands and her neck with feather-light kisses. It doesn't take too long for them to calm down, but once they do, Yukimura suddenly grows serious.
"Hey," he prods, nosing at her hair. She hums, sleepily grabbing hold of his robes as she makes herself comfy. "I never really said it earlier but um.." he coughs, red from the apples of his cheeks to the tips of his ears, "I love you." To her, no other words could ever make her happier than those three, and not even a lifetime of hearing them could ever tire her out. Aerin sits up, leaning over to lay a hand on Yuki's cheek, looking down at him fondly before muttering softly, just loud enough for them both to hear. "Hey, Yuki?" He hums quietly, for fear of breaking the trance of the moment, "I love you too." And maybe, just maybe, she thinks, this time it'll be alright.
Once upon a time, Aerin gave the young warlord who called her funny names a second chance, and now.. now he was the one giving her the chance to mend her broken heart with his love once more. Life doesn't often give you second chances, and she'd be damned if she let this one pass her by.

Sweet Rendezvous
Tumblr media
Pairing: MC x Arthur x Comte (pov: 2nd)
Word count: >1k (drabble)
Rating: nsfw (better safe than sorry)
Warnings: Implied sexual content (threesome)
A/N: Mind you, it's around 4am as I write this and I just woke up from the dream I mentioned having earlier so... anyway here's a snippet of a fic I may someday write more for. Basically just wrote out a little something based on the aforementioned dream. Not proofread, but hopefully it'll be alright since it's fairly short anyway (under 1k). Implied sexual content but nothing explicit actually happens, but either way, as usual for this blog, minors please do not interact, thanks!
───────── 〔🌼〕 ─────────
Sweet dreams are made of these, who am I to disagree? I'd travel the world and the seven seas, everybody's looking for something . . .
───────── 〔🌼〕 ─────────
After having awoken late into the night from a rather odd dream, you go out seeking the source of your troubles, and thankfully, your search doesn't take too long. Spotting the blue haired writer in the low light of the library, you carefully make your way over to him.
"Oh Arthur, I'm so glad you're still awake, I was hoping to find you."
Looking over from where he was just putting a bit back into a shelf, he quickly eyes your disheveled-self in pajamas before replying, "And to what do I owe the pleasure, luv?"
"If it's not too much to ask for a little help, I promise I'll return the favor." You bat your eyes innocently, hoping to come across as meek as you can before dropping the metaphorical hammer on this conversation.
"What is it, were you just dying to finally sleep with me?" Arthur jokes, and for once, he's not far off on the ball with his offhand remarks.
"Actually-"
A voice interjects from nearby, humor tinged with concern. "My apologies, am I interrupting something?"
"Oh Comte, not at all, I'm so glad the man of the hour is here as well." This couldn't have been more perfect, it was all playing out just like your dream! Now all that was left was to rope these two into your grand scheme for the night.
"Wait a moment, weren't you just asking me for a favor?" Arthur nearly pouts, lower lip jutting out just enough to show how glum that your attention is no longer hyper focused on him now.
"Yes yes, all in due time, Arthur." You chide, working up your charm as you prepare to lay it on thick for Comte, blinking up at him as you gently begin to slide your hand up his arm.
"Then what seems to be the matter, ma cherie?" Comte pats your head lightly, looking down at you with those curious golden hues, made even warmer by the low lamplight.
A deep sigh, still lost in your dramatics, speaking in as distressed of a voice as you could muster. "I woke up from a dream, a nightmare, if you will... I dreamt that the three of us lay in bed together, and it was a nightmare to wake up all alone... You gentlemen could really be of some help right now, so, what do you say?"
Both gentlemen glance at one another before nodding silently, then glancing back over at you, simultaneously stalking towards your form.
Arthur takes a step forward, "You know I'm always game, my little dove, for how can I refuse when you body calls out to me so." He runs a gloved hand through some strands of your hair, pressing a kiss to it with a cheshire grin, although it looks less like a smile and a lot more like the way predator would eye prey.
Not missing a beat, the golden-haired man takes a step forward, wrapping an arm around your waist from behind. "Anything for ma cherie," says Comte before his voice seemingly drops an octave, "anything at all." He places a seemingly innocent kiss to the hollow of your neck, the smirk indiscernible in the dim light of the library, yet still carried through his featherlight love bite.
And this was how you found yourself having the night of your life with two of the finest men of the bachelor pad vampire mansion; it was everything you could have dreamed of and more. For who could deny oneself the pleasure of such attentive lovers, when they seek not to deny themselves of their insatiable attraction to you?

just got some ads while playing another game and one of them was for a storyline that inspired some daydreaming from me.. and so we have this pretty little piece of angst🗿
Tumblr media
shortly after falling into cradle and being taken in by the red army, alice has a drunk one night stand with jonah. as a result, alice gets pregnant, and kyle is the only one who knows. at first, kyle tells alice she should be honest with jonah, seeing as this is something both of them should handle. but alice is terrified of what disaster this could spell for her, as she's still scared of jonah and all of this sort of regal air about the red army. and so, kyle offers to help alice cover things up, at least until she can return to the land of reason and make all her life decisions over there. meanwhile kyle and alice pursue this sort of fake dating of theirs, jonah finds himself coming to terms with the fact that he's insanely jealous, and always seems snappy and pissed (everyone else knows why, they just act like they don't). meanwhile, kyle starts to actually fall for alice during their time together... only for alice to finally start giving in to jonah's advances. but before anything could officially blossom between their odd flirting (that seems a lot more like fighting)... the truth comes out that alice is pregnant, only that now everyone assumes it's kyle's because they'd been publicly "dating" for most of her time in cradle. so now, regardless of whether alice confesses everything to jonah or sticks it out with kyle until she tries to return, there's no way for things to not end in a mess.
will alice bear the weight of her sins and join up with the suffocating nobility of becoming a clemence, or will she be consumed by her deceit in a potentially loveless marriage with the very man who's all but saved her ass? only time will tell, and not even blanc can save poor alice from the web she's caught in now...

❥ Present
Pairing: Gavin x gn!reader
Genre: fluff, est. relationship, suggestive
Warnings: cheesy domestic fluff, self indulgent, & pg13 for suggestive content ??
Word count: 1.7k
Summary: The past is gone, no future mistakes, but in this moment, your present awaits.
✎ A/N: I'm aware that it is now October and that Gavin's birthday was back in July but.. the inspiration for this came in the form of a lame joke/idea and I couldn't resist. Initially just wanted to write out a rough outline but.. it somehow turned into a oneshot.. which explains why it's so rushed and short and messy,, Just hoping my first contribution to the fandom wasn't too shabby 😔👉🏻👈🏻 Tried to keep it gender neutral and with minimal detail to have it be as inclusive as I could, but my apologies if that didn't work out too well,,, Also I'm on mobile atm so I'll add the Read More function once I can get to my laptop! 🙏🏻

It was Gavin's birthday, and we were celebrating at his apartment; the small, cozy atmosphere making for a more intimate and personal celebration. Perfect for the relaxing evening I had in store for my wonderful boyfriend. Gavin is always busy with work, whether it's an STF mission or paperwork, the man hardly gets a minute to himself. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so I prepared a home-cooked dinner to welcome him after yet another long day.
Hearing the front door unlock, I turned off the stove that had been keeping the food warm for his arrival, and made my way over to greet him.
"Welcome home, my love. Happy birthday." The tiredness evident on his body, and yet, with that seemingly infinite amount of strength of his, managed to lift me up in his embrace. Only after exchanging a brief kiss did he finally put me down to speak.
"Something smells delicious," Gavin begins, burying his face into my hair, "and the food smells great too." I can't hold back the laugh he pulls from me, our reactions to one another too natural to suppress.
"Food's ready, if you want to go get changed into comfortable while I set the table." Sensing his hesitance, I give his butt a light smack. "Go on, as hot as you look in that uniform, I doubt they'd be keen on you getting birthday dinner all over it." He grumbles but agrees, giving my hand a light squeeze before trotting over to his room.
As soon as I'm done setting everything on the table, Gavin emerges from his room, and even in simple attire, I can't help but fawn over him. Despite the numerous injuries evident, which I'll nag him for another time, he looks soft, ethereal. Fresh from the shower and smelling like heaven. And though it wouldn't be a stretch to call my flying boyfriend an angel, he always insists otherwise. Breaking from my trance, we take our seats across from one another, making small talk as we eat through it all.
Leaning back in my seat, I smile at Gavin whose  bangs ruffle as he stretches his arms overhead. For as much of a man as he is now, there's no denying that sleepy boyishness present. He insists to do the dishes since I cleaned, but I refuse to let him do so tonight, reminding him of his birthday as he his lower lip juts out in a pout.
"Gavin, look, if you want to help me out, why don't you bring out the cake so we can have dessert?" His reply comes in the form of a warm backhug, and a nose pressed into the side of my neck.
Reaching over to pick up the nearly forgotten velvet off the floor, I open it towards him almost shyly, pulling out his ring and motioning for his hand. "I love you so much, happy birthday Gavin." A kiss. A cold ring sliding onto a rough finger.
"But I've got dessert right here," he teases. And when I tense in response, I can feel his smirk against my skin, proud of himself for evoking a reaction from his words alone.
"Down boy," I chuckle, turning my head to press my cheek to his. "We have plenty of time for fun after you unwrap your gift." The wink I shot back at him must have left his imagination stewing, and this time I'm the one wearing the Cheshire grin.
Leading him back to the table for cake, Gavin blows out his candles and cuts the cake, but not before finding the time to slash some icing onto my nose.
"Hey!" A weak whine leaves me, but the complaint dies in my throat. Gavin's infectious laughter doesn't let me stay mad for long.. as if I could ever stay mad at him. Childishness ensues in the form of stealing from each other's plates and decorating one another with icing. It was refreshing to see him so carefree, usually shouldering the weight of the world on his shoulders. But the birthday surprises weren't over just yet.
"If you've had your fill of cake.. are you ready to move on?" He tilts his head, looking more lit a wolf pup than a puppy, but still adorable all the same. Shifting from my seat besides his, Gavin's warm gaze never breaks from me, surreptitiously taking in all the details of my outfit as I smooth out a wrinkle on my shirt.
"I've had my cake and eaten it too," I try to ignore the hunger in his eyes as he speaks, knowing more cake wouldn't be enough to satiate it, "and you're telling me there's still more?" His eyes wander over to a blue box topped with a white bow, wondering how and when that got there. Nothing escapes officer Bai, well, not unless his love is in the vicinity, then his brain turns to mush. Angling his head back to face me with one hand, I bring his attention as I speak up.
"Well, that's your gift, but there's also your present." Trying my best not to fumble over my words, I brace myself, hoping he'll like this part of his gift.
"My present?" Gavin's brows furrow slightly, and before my brain can even register the action, my fingers are already attempting to soothe the crease in his forehead.
"I'm your present!" I lamely choke out, before my voice grows softer, "...and part of your past. But what I'd like most of all, is to be part of your future as well."
"Are you.. proposing to me right now?"
"Kind of?" I grin sheepishly, pulling out a small box with matching rings. "Rather, it's a set of promise rings. I promise to love and cherish you, married or not. You're the light of my life, the wind beneath my wings, and the warmth through the nights. So.. will you accept?" Unable to look up at him for a moment, I play with the strands of ribbon adording the velvet casing, until his silence becomes too much.
And though I knew he'd likely pretend it wasn't the case, the water I noticed along his lashline was unmistakable. Did I..? Is he crying right now? Please don't tell me I just made Gavin cry on his birthday!
"Thank you," he says, pulling me onto his lap to repeatedly press kisses into the side of my face and neck, all the while I could feel the smile that never left his lips. "This is the best present I've ever had," Gavin murmurs against my own, just before capturing them in a slow, passionate kiss. We stay like that for a time, with me in his lap on the dining room chair, my arms lazily draped over his shoulders as his arms around my waist and in my hair position me as he pleases. Somewhere in the midst I'd managed to drop the box, long forgotten in the haze of our professed tangle of emotions.
I knew there would never be someone as perfect for me as Gavin, that no one could ever hold a candle to just how much I loved this man. And I doubted anyone could ever love me as strongly and dearly as he loves me. This man who patiently waited since high school, heart only at ease once we reunited years later, seemingly in disbelief as how naturally we fell together. If only he knew I loved him just the same, but no matter, I've got a lifetime ahead to show him just that.
Languidly pulling away, a thin string keeps our separated lips still connected, the aftermath of that searing passion still lingering close enough to touch. Those amber eyes that always seem to glow in my presence smile at me along with his now red, swollen lips, before he rests his forehead against mine.
It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul, and the warmth pooling in his eyes made it obvious beyond a doubt of his emotions. The typically stoic officer who wore his heart on his sleeve, and that same look has broken my composure many times over. Surprising him with affection always brought that beautiful flush to his cheeks, making it irresistible to continue to do so, even now.
"How did I ever get so lucky?" Gavin whispers to no one in particular.
"Honestly, I should be the one asking that," a thousand-watt smile beams his way, and Gavin seemingly squints from the brightness of it all. His hands squeeze my hips, whether to make sure I was real or to feel me up was to be debated, but one thing was for sure.
"I love you too." Another kiss. And the many more that followed as he slipped the matching ring onto my own.
"By all means," I gesture to the box on the coffee table, only for him to shake his head, disheveled hair sticking up at odd ends as he does so.
Gavin was always more of an "actions speak louder than words" kind of guy, and right now, I was on the receiving end of it all. I was feeling lightheaded, up in the clouds, though I doubt the one drink with dinner was to blame. The sheer force and love in Gavin's kiss had me absolutely drunk off his affection. Leave it to him to try to please others even on the day you try to celebrate the man in question.
"Can I unwrap my present now?" his voice comes out in a throaty rasp, still out of breath from the many kisses we shared.
"I wasn't talking about my gift, darling," his hands slide up my back to tug at my hair gently, teeth scraping lightly over my neck before curling into something mischievous. "Can I unwrap my present now?" And it isn't until then that it hits. He's referring to me.
I can only find myself parroting the same response I'd given him earlier, too breathless, but not just from his kiss, this time it's his very eyes that have me enraptured. Warm amber molded into liquid gold, and the flash in their depths is the last thing I see before I'm hoisted over his shoulder. Glad to see some things never change.

》 * denotes more of a storyline idea than an actual fic/hc's
*** please see the #aerin.writings tag for more because i tend to not add all my shorter pieces onto the masterlist, and there might be extra works there!
✎ A/N: I won't be opening requests, as I'm fairly busy and only write whenever inspiration hits (given that I have the time/energy to do so). Everyone's welcome to stop by the ask box/my dm's though! Whether it's to thirst (yes, anon is on dw) or just chat, feel free to stop by anytime. Who knows, I might not take requests but maybe a certain message might spark joy inspiration regardless. Heads up, unless gender neutral (gn) is specified, then the fic is afab reader.
Thanks for stopping by! ♡ xoxo, aerin
