ACT 1 : BEGIN / WHATS YOUR JUSTICE ? AND HOW FAR DOES IT GO ?

(( take note that while most of these acts have been thought out for years now they are EASILY subject to change. The story of Price is a tricky one that I dont have all the kinks worked out yet & I will definitely be going more in-depths into the events listed in the future. But for RP purposes this is all important information for Nathaniel Price ))

the verse starts w/ Price arriving back to the city after recently closing a mass killing case somewhere else. While everyone agrees that Price is rather mean-spirited his mind is in the right place. On the side of the law.

back in the city Price begins to work the usual cases. Catching murderers. Thieves. And the like. Both the above world & criminal underworld would notice that the infamous Detective Price is back and he liked it just like that. The fame. The recognition. People talking about him.

Things really start to get interesting for Price when a case leads him to a collection of homeless & strays known as The Circus believing the killer to be located within. Who go around performing various tasks or shows to collect funds to feed them for the night. There he meets a woman Mad’am. A rather cook but stern old woman who wants nothing to do with the officers & more specifically Nathaniel Price. Nathaniel is of course stubborn but at the advice of his partner during this case about the rocky situation the public has with The Circus it’s advised to just let things be. Try and find the killer another way.

This is done instead with the meeting of Hope. A member of The Circus who Price and his partner meet at the local club. Their eyes meet constantly as Price will always look to her noticing that she would be looking at him. It would be during one of these looks that Price would notice a wristband --- a wristband belonging to members of The Circus. Price immediately walks over demanding for information and of course plays with him that is until the topic of a murderer is brought up. After talking however Hope would see the severity of the situation and act to assist Price. In a matter that was risky but still ended positively Price caught the killer w/ the assistance of Hope. Price thought nothing more of her.

Of course they’d still constantly run in to each other. And each time led way to more conversation then the last. Hope of course the initiator of the conversation.

Price would go on to solve more and more trying cases and meet many more interesting figures in the city.

Price is still generally pretty cold in this time. Caring more of the cases then anything else.

Most of his free time is spent eating at a local Chinese restaurant or drinking at the bar closest to his apartment where the owner he knows extremely well. Anything after that he’s reading. But he starts to spend some of it w/ Hope clearly accidental. And he does begin to enjoy it.

Many times they would meet up even during cases and just chat. Enjoy each other’s presence. Smoke a cigarette until the sun came back up.

Cases to note that are solved include: ones connecting to gang / mobs pinpointing to strained crime family tensions, one involving who the city describes as The Messanger, another dealing with some of his fellow officers. Some of these will go into detail for sure in future NPC posts.

The climax of this ACT is when a gun toting vigilante enters the scene. Killing a criminal Price was chasing & claiming that he was Justice. Being considered a threat Price and the detectives of the force are tasked w/ hunting him down. Price especially wants this as this vigilante took away a case from Price. Took away a victory.

The rest of the act is going to chasing down the vigilante and more learning more of him. His name is a James Thatcher and he was a mistake Price had made. Running after a culprit instead of saving his family at the most crucial of moments and resulting in their deaths. Deaths that haunted James Thatcher and made him want to wipe away all villainy. Including the corrupt police force. Including Nathaniel Price.

The City had started to greatly side w/ the vigilante stating that his extreme measures were being taken against the criminals and the city becomes rather unpleasant.

Though thankfully Price does manage to get the proper information to lock Thatcher away but first he just needs to catch him. And thats where the trickiest part arrives. Thatcher growing desperate to enact his revenge kidnaps Hope and sets a trap for Price. To come to an abandoned warehouse or she dies. Price seeing this as saving Hope & catching Thatcher goes alone.

The two confront and Thatcher states that he does have a bomb strapped to Hope. And gives Price an ultimatum. Either to stop Thatcher right here and right now from walking out of the city or to save Hope from the ticking bomb. Price is practically tired of Thatcher’s bullshit and superhero fancies and almost blasts the other’s head off. But Thatcher then whips out a trigger. Saying that he’ll just blow her up now though. And then Price can get his glory. Because Thatcher can tell that’s all Price really cares about. That he knows nothing of justice. Or preserving the peace. He just cares if people will love him by the end of it all. Price wasn’t some big hero. He was a sham. Price is very angry by these statements obviously but before he can get a retort in Thatcher begins to count down from ten.

Price hesitates. Greatly hesitates. He’s unsure of what to do. Or even what to say. But as Thatcher counts down a single thought runs through Price’s head : Hope. Hope is going to die. He curses under his breath but runs over to her in the other room. Thatcher is stunned and as Price takes the makeshift explosive device off of the beaten Hope. She thanks him the second he takes out the gag but before she can get another word in Thatcher smashes the but of his gun into the back of Nathaniel’s head knocking him quickly off his balance. He manages to keep his consciousness but Thatcher takes out a smaller gun and shoots Price in his side. Thatcher sits on top of him and smashes Price’s fast with his fist, yelling and spitting at the detective because all of this was his fault. Price tries to fight back but is unable to get the upper hand being physically stronger than the Detective. Thankfully Price is saved by Hope who managed to break out of her restraints and smash an object on Thatcher taking him off the Detective for a brief second to focus on the girl. He turns and charges over to punch Hope. Price stands back up and tackles Thatcher into a nearby shelf letting it crumble on top of him. Price grabs Hope’s hand and hurries deeper into the warehouse. A sneaking / chase ensues. With Price & Hope as the mouse and Thatcher as the cat. Through brilliant tactics on both Hope and Price the duo manage to outsmart and detain Thatcher.

When the police arrive to see a beaten up Price and Hope and an handcuffed and unconcious Thatcher they whisk Thatcher away to prison and Price & Hope to ER.

Act 1 ends with an awoken Price getting back to work and Hope still in the hopsital but able to speak and such. Price visits her all the time of course and chooses to put the words of Thatcher out of his head. As if it doesn’t exist. But Hope remembers it. She remembers all of it. And she’ll keep it in mind.
