A post I’ve been wanting to make for a while is of the nicknames Shidou’s called others in JP. Most of them are exactly the same as what’s in the translation by Pair of Two but I kinda wanna highlight Shidou’s constant use of -chan for the other boys.

This is for Chapters 88~148 and pretty long so I’m sorry in advance :)

Igarashi:

He gets called mainly Igaguri/Igaguri-chan.

Kunigami:

Kunigami is referred to as “Hero/Hero-kun” and interestingly he’s the only character that Shidou uses -kun for so far. I wonder why?

Reo:

Reo kinda has a funny one. It’s “Murasaki chonmage” with「ちょんまげ」chonmage referring to his teeny ponytail/bun. So Purple Top-Knot.[EDIT: I somehow mixed up ちゃん and ちょん but it's fixed now! It'sdefinitely not murasaki-chan lol]

Yukimiya:

So far he’s only been referred to as “Goggle Man”. At least one other character I recall has called Yukimiya this as well.

Isagi:

Isagi has been called by his full name, Isagi-chan, and there’s also「チョロ男」. I tried to figure this one out with a friend. 「チョロチョロ/ちょろちょろ」 is an onomonopia used for small animals skittering around quickly, which would make sense for Isagi since he’s a) smaller than Shidou and b) had been popping up in places where Shidou wasn’t expecting during the match. So skittering boy or darting boy? Though it’s not really easy to make that into a sensible phrase in English? This got translated to “Lover Boy” in the Fan Scan.

Rin:

Rin is fun. He gets called by his full name, Rin-chan, RinRin, 「下ますげ」”under eyelashes” 「下ますげ弟」 “under eyelashes little brother”, and 「お兄ちゃん大好きっ子ちゃん」which if you wanted to do a direct translation I would say just says “Big brother loving kid”, which feels like a mouthful just to call him a brocon. Once Rin goes into flow he gets called 「ベロ凛」 “bero Rin”; bero means tongue, while berobero is the onomonopia for licking, so “Licky Rin” would be what makes the most sense.

Sae:

Alongside 「天才」 “Genuis” like everyone else calls him, he gets called by his full name, Sae-chan, 「下ますげ兄」 “under eyelashes elder brother”. He uses Sae-chan the most!

Gagamaru:

Gagamaru is 「ちょんまげ丸」 chonmagemaru, which combines chonmage, a top-knot ponytail style and the maru kanji from his name. Shidou also refers to him as 「ちょんまげGK」 “Top-Knot Goal Keeper”.

Sendou:

Sendou... Gets it bad from both Sae and Shidou lol. Shidou (+Sae) calls him 「ヘボストライカー」 which roughly means “Poor/Unskilled(you could also use Shitty if you’re feeling especially mean) Striker” . Additionally, this one is funny:

This is “furuchin sutoraika”. Furuchin means to have one’s penis exposed, and with the context of Sendou and his new resolve to marry a hollywood actress, not a Gravure idol like Sae has been teasing him about since they first met, it seems like Shidou is calling Sendou “Striker with his dick out” or “Striker who thinks with his dick”. That’s kind of clunky for dialogue, so it makes sense that “dickface striker” was used instead!

Karasu:

Karasu only gets called Karasu-chan so far. But with the both of them being on PXG we might see if that still holds as the only name.

End Note:

Nicknames aside, from what I know, Shidou is being very overfamiliar with everyone he speaks with and insists on referring to everyone with the cutesy -chan rather than -san or -kun (Again, interestingly enough the only character that he seems to have used -kun with is when referring to Kunigami as Hero-kun once).  As far as I’m aware, Japanese boys don’t really go around calling each other “-chan” generally unless they’re close childhood friends? (Think how Midoriya Izuku from Boku no Hero insists on calling Bakugou Katsuki Kacchan even into their teens. This is in contrast with Kaminari Denki who seems to call Bakugou Kacchan a couple times not out of closeness but just to tease him).

The only character shown to be bothered by his overfamiliarity is Rin though lol. 

“Who are you calling RinRin, damn bug.”

Aiku also uses -chan sometimes!

Here, he calls Shidou 「仔犬ちゃん」”koinu-chan” which means Puppy. I’m not sure why the translation was squirt in the Fan Scans?

Sae gets called 「天才ちゃん」tensai-chan which is just Genius(-chan)

During the whole cops and robbers speech of his, he calls Isagi(?) 「泥ちゃん」”doro-chan” or just Thief/Robber(-chan)

I cherish every anthology manga that makes it to english and when we got “To Strip the Flesh”, “Came the Mirror”, “Box of Light” “Witches”, and “Orochi” we truly struck gold. I’ve been waiting for Igarashi to get another shot at the english language market, and then Orochi and the announcement of the new Cat-eyed Boy editions confirmed that Umezz’s is back to stay, crossing my fingers for a major title like My Name Is Shingo or Fourteen next.  I will count Box of Light among the anthologies as the stories presented in each chapter stand so well on their own. I will never say no to a fun take on the liminal space between life and death. 

Essay manga I can now say has become a regular part of the licenses American publishers hand us, and I will gladly read every single one of them. This year my favorite was by far “My Brain Is Different”. A painful but much needed collection of personal accounts from adults and their life long struggles living with autism and ADHD.  D&Q has barely missed with their alternative manga picks as well as their korean manhwa licenses. Now it appears they’re ready to showcase more women from this scene and Talk to My Back was an amazing way to follow up The Sky is Blue With a Single Cloud by Kuniko Tsurita. This simple chronicle of a housewife and her family accompanied with an impressive and detailed write-up of Murasaki’s career was a great read that I will absolutely come back to again and again. 

The return of Domu was a grand and long awaited one as this series has been out of print in its native country for quite some time. This XL sized edition contained not just color pages and previously uncompiled chapter covers plus  a look back on the making of the manga, including photos of the real life housing complex the story takes place in. Hoping an english edition of the same caliber will follow suit in the near future! And Witch-Senpai is just a simple romance I found myself feeling very engaged in and was one of the first titles that came to mind when putting this list together.

C'è stato un tempo in cui c'erano ninja al servizio di potenti, assunti per missioni di spionaggio, sabotaggio o assassinio. Anche se i tempi sono cambiati,i loro servizi sono ancora richiesti. Dalla serie di videogiochi sono stati tratti diversi adattamenti manga e una prima stagione televisiva di 12 episodi, prodotta dallo studio Artland nel 2013. nel 2015 è uscito allegato al videogioco un episodio OVA dal titolo “Senran Kagura: Estival Versus - Shoujo-tachi no Sentaku”.

OC facts again cuz I came up with more stuff (mostly RH again cuz yea)

as i’ve stated before, RH and her parents have many servants working for them (i’ve told you a few of them, but i imagine there being more, they’re unnamed at the moment), and unlike the rich people i’ve heard about, RH and her parents are kind to their servants and treat them like actual human beings. they ask politely and always say “please” whenever giving requests/orders and always say “thank you” whenever the servants fulfill what RH and her parents ask of them. they also pay their servants very well and grant time off whenever asked, if the reason was legitimate enough. RH and her family are very well-mannered.

RH, Murasaki, and Azra often frequent a bathhouse they live near and relax there (sometimes together, other times on their own), they sometimes get their other friends to tag along (only if the friends they’re inviting agree to it).

RH’s parents make really good homemade tangerine tanghulu, and sometime in HK, RH learns how to make it herself. she even shares the candy with friends and fans.

Yoko is scared of her and would often cling to Rinko or one of her friends every time Aleksandra's near

Rinko doesn't like her and ignores her most of the time

since Aleksandra is basically Brittany's (Brittany belongs to @askkassandragf-v-2 ) right-hand woman, then Ren Hua is enemies with her (their rivalry is the same as Ren Hua's rivalry with Brittany)

Azra doesn't "hate" her per se, and the two had very little interactions, but Azra did tell Aleksandra that she couldn't tell what color her aura was, much to Aleksandra's confusion

the rest of my OCs (Murasaki, Patrick, Onkar, Kendra, Tae, Joshua) dislike her and often support Ren Hua whenever she and Aleksandra have any kind of stand-off

More OC facts (mostly RH ones but there are others in there)

RH likes to rub essential oils on her skin (despite her bad reaction to incense, oils don’t have this effect), and her favorite oils are usually the flower ones (mostly lotus) but likes other oils like eucalyptus, sandalwood, etc

the Asahina sisters are often commissioned by RH to draw the art for her non-horror Chinese cover songs and other promotional media

RH likes to sing Chinese covers of both dark and non-dark songs, and she commissions different horror artists for her dark cover songs

her Chinese cover song videos feature art of herself relating to the song (like, if she were to sing a cover of an Enya song for instance, the art would be of her doing something related to said song, like if it was Orinoco Flow, the art would be of her on a boat) with fitting backgrounds, along with the Mandarin Chinese lyrics (both the hanzi and pinyin would be displayed)

Tae’s parents divorced (nothing terrible or traumatizing happened, they still get along well) and her father remarried to her current stepmother, who was very kind to her, and her stepmother and stepsisters were happy to have Tae in their family

Azra uses many different mantras when meditating, it just depends on what exactly she’s meditating on at the moment

even though Joshua loves a lot of video games (like Mario, Wii games, etc), his favorite video game series is the Sonic series

RH has a wide assortment of expensive jewelry, makeup, crowns, hair accessories, hair/skin products, etc. and she has a collection of very beautiful dresses too. most of these products come from her parents’ fashion company, but she also has some products from other companies
