Sheith Metalhead AU

I’m a hopeless metalhead and I like to project on everyone so have some headcanons about my Extremely Self Indulgent AU in which Shiro is a nice mature metal dude and Keith is like an obnoxious metalcore fan. This doubles as a Metal Elitist AU in which the entire character arc/goal is to get Keith to grow up and see the true heavy metal way. Sorry. Not sorry lol. Anyway I got too much fic to write so I’m just gonna tell you some broadstrokes instead of committing to a real story LOL.

Shiro: Quiet type, enjoys slower epic music, blackened pagan/folk, gloomy prog, a healthy dose of the classics with an interest in shitty demos from the Japanese black metal scene. He’s also known to enjoy some good melodeath if it’s not too sugary. He works as an MRI tech at a children’s hospital and does security at a metal club on the weekends.

Keith: Angry young man! Has a lot of obnoxious male energy to burn off and listens to messy over-aggressive ‘core stuff. His experience and exposure is mostly just through the scene and the bands he gets to see and he hasn’t really expanded out of it yet.

Shiro first sees Keith at the club at an Arsonists Get All the Girls show and he sees Keith dancing around to the piano breakdown in I Lost My Loss of Ruin. He’s like immediately in love.

He keeps seeing Keith at shows while he’s working, a couple times he even catches him as he comes over the rail from crowdsurfing and he goes into like full gay panic mode. Then Keith gets in a fight in the pit during a Killwhitneydead show--technically it’s Shiro’s job to break it up but he’s totally mesmerized watching Keith take out dudes twice his size. Even though he totally balks on breaking the fight up he’s still obligated to eject all parties involved. But the show is just about over at that point, so he sits outside on the curb with Keith afterwards instead of coming back inside, and gives him a napkin for his bloody nose. Keith is all exhausted and drunk and leaning on Shiro’s shoulder, ready to fall asleep, so Shiro invites him to go get coffee.

Shiro think he’s cute but he’s constantly scandalized by all the bad metalcore/grindcore/deathcore Keith listens to and he makes it his mission in life to introduce him to the Real Shit.

One of the first bands he gets Keith to like is Hypocrisy, so the first concert they go see together is Peter Tägtgren’s other band Pain when they’re in town. They’re both pleasantly surprised by how good the show is and how much fun they have.

They both like 3 Inches of Blood and Shiro FREAKS when he finds out Keith doesn’t know King Diamond, because Shiro is like a HUGE King Diamond nerd and 3 Inches of Blood is so obviously King Diamond inspired it only makes sense that they have a King Diamond & Chill night where Shiro invites him over and makes him popcorn and they listen to Them and Conspiracy while they read along the lyrics. Keith is skeptical at first but it grows on him and by the time Shiro plays Abigail for him later that night he’s like 1000% on board.

Shiro has his own apartment so they have all the sex over there, which means Shiro is usually sex DJ and picks the music that’s on. He’s kinda like into getting rough with kinky black’n’roll playing.

The first time Keith spends the night he wakes up in the morning and Shiro isn’t in bed. It turns out he wakes up crazy early because he sleeps like shit (trauma and such obviously). But it’s really nice because he comes out and Shiro’s just in the kitchen drinking coffee and reading the news and listening to Porcupine Tree and it’s just this like soft little glimpse Keith gets to have at this giant guy that everyone assumes is like exclusively into Dark Heavy Things. (Of course, he’ll soon learn the Super Top Secret Insider Info that metalheads adopted Porcupine Tree so maybe it’s not so shocking, but that he finally found someone who’s secure enough in his identity to chill and listen to soft music kinda makes him think he maybe caught some feels.)
