The start of November gave me (1) a nasty cold I couldn’t shake. It cleared up enough to bring the Boy with me to see Night Vale; the spider-horse shirt he got is his newfavorite thing to wear. The Crud returned after Thanksgiving.

The start of December began with an annual inspection from my own parents (2). It was ‘fine’, but it is always a stressor (3). But we went to a concert of one of the Diva’s Top Five bands (4), which was a great time.

Except that’s the vector where we got COVID from; the timeline fits. A week & a half of December vanished from existence & memory (5). Recovery left me a secondary illness, a mean sinus infection with pain in my ear and that ribboning-tearing in my throat. I don’t like being sick, major or minor, but, here-now, it’s how long it’s been.

Did you know, that with an otoscope (6) a physician can see fluid pressure on your ear drum? That it pushes and bows outwards? I learned that when the doctor told me this. Not that it doesn’t make sense; I just never thought about it.

It’s not quite a ‘depression’, though that’s always possible. I’m just tired of being tired of being tired. Sick of being sick.

Upnote: the cats snuggle me more. There are battles of my lap (7).

(1) via my students. I’m doing mornings running literacy group at my wife’s school for 2nd, 3rd, & 1st graders; this is written as such as this is the order of my mornings.

(2) grandchildren only like to be seen once a year, correct? One should indeed be annoyed when one’s teen grandson wants to just hang around you, right?

(3) that’s subtle.

(4) Pentatonix! They do great shows!

(5) I somehow took the dog for quarter mile walks each day. Even through Paxlovid/COVID fevers. I don’t know what to tell you.
