alright, since the Remedy brainworms got me I've been replaying Control, got to the AWE expansion last night and picking up on all the echoes/foreshadowing for Alan Wake 2 is making me go utterly bonkers, but like. has anyone picked up on or talked about how in all of Alan's Hotline messages to Jesse, when he's writing about her POV, he exclusively calls her 'Faden'

like, maybe it didn't poke my brain the first time I played it since he does the same thing when talking about Hartman, but coming from AW2 it's pretty jarring as a stylistic oddity...almost like there's a reason (in-universe and/or out-of-universe) that he doesn't call her 'Jesse'...almost like there's only one Faden in his story...

and given how in AW2 we also get some (quasi-) clarification regarding the limits of Alan's ability to "make stuff up" vs alter and rewrite "real-world" events that he sees in clairvoyant flashes...given the Night Springs screenplay pages you can find in AWE that parallels the FBC and the events of Control (i.e. a Director and a Scientist opening a portal to another dimension, finding an eldritch Entity, the Director trying to take its power for himself and then getting taken over before shooting himself)...given how literally all of the "dreams" Dylan tells Jesse about are descriptions/viewings of stuff that takes place on one level of reality or another ("I was the director and you were an intern"; "we were in a game, and it was a fucking boring game but you couldn't stop playing it"; Mister Door, and "a world with a writer writing about a cop, and another world where the writer was real"; a "musical" about Jesse), except, seemingly, the dream about "Jesse Dylan Faden"...

guys. are you picking up what I'm putting down here. guys. GUYS

#alan wake #control #control remedy #remedy entertainment #remedyverse #anyway sorry but i for real am a jesse dylan faden truther now and forever #not in the sense that dylan isn't 'real' or isn't a person in his own right by now #but look. if you were a writer and trying to work out the inciting plot/backstory for your main character #who needs to have a driving reason to go back to the government agency that nearly captured her for study #or alternatively: you need a reason that said government agency is able to learn about the inciting backstory event from a direct witness #without actually successfully capturing the main character in question (since it's important that she instead comes to them when she does)#it would solve a lot of your problems if you just...split your protagonist into two different people. right?#like. are you seeing the vision!!!#also i gotta say. the Gender Of It All (TM) compels me #granted i doubt remedy will go in that direction -- and even if they do i think it'd be highly ambiguous/questionable at best #kind of like how max payne 1/2 raise the vague possibility that max went insane on valkyr and he's the one that killed his family #which is largely shot down but in a way that still leaves the answer at least a little bit shrouded in ambiguity #but you know. a girl can dream

Key Notes: Sean is charming. Very charming. It is definitely an attribute that ties in closely with his power over the emotions. He is capable of being very empathetic, and is very perceptive in almost any situation. His biggest downfall is that even though he is easy to get he is very, very hard to keep. If your muse isn't looking for anything serious, Sean is ideal once an emotional attachment is made but if your muse is looking to have him for the long haul, expect the Hare to be taking off unprovoked without reason - he will return, of course, eventually.

Has no preference over dominant or submissive, he takes a lover at face value.

Key Notes: Alexander is one of the most loyal and noble men your muse will ever meet. He is the kind of guy that still believes in holding a door open for others, showing genuine compassion for others, and in giving second chances. In that, however, Alexander is noble and good to a fault as it opens him up for being back-stabbed or quite literally, falling prey to future consequences at his own expense. If your muse is looking for someone who is the noble Knight-In-Shining-Armor kind of guy, Alexander is that man.

Name: Five (aka Jacob) - (FC: Cameron Monaghan)

Has no real preference, he is a "switch" himself

Homosexual

Alignment: Lawful Neutral (He made an oath to be a personal guard to whoever holds the crown of Hearts. Something he always regrets whenever William is in power)

Romance Probability: High, with a caveat (no matter who he does end up with, he is metaphorically a "slave" to the King/Queen he serves.)

Key Notes: Five is an adventurous, outgoing guy. When he is off duty he is the club hopper, the drug taker, the 'will go anywhere and do pretty much anything' guy. He is more likely to lean on the side of good intentions, he is kind and thoughtful. However, his greatest downfall is of course, his sense of duty to the crown which will always hold a risk of interfering with any relationships he may have. If your muse has a soft spot for the red heads (lol) and thnks he is worth the risk, Five is always open for potential relationships.

William has been left off of this list because trust me.... as a mun, I wouldn't recommend going down that road.

Naruto Fan Cast: Part One

I fear the day when Netflix will attempt to create anything Naruto-related. Still, I am curious about what it would look like. So, before Hollywood lays its hands on our beloved fandom, allow me to introduce you to my personal fan cast.

Before we begin, let's agree on two points: 1. These are just subjective ideas that you might disagree with! So feel free to respond with your own suggestions; 2. In my fanon, the Naruto universe includes different races and nationalities. For example, Uchihas, Hyugas, Naras, and Sai are completely Japanese in my head. Meanwhile, characters like Tenten, Guy, Lee, and Rock Lee are Chinese. And the list goes on. In this post, I will only cover European/American actors cast for non POC characters. The POC fan cast will be posted later; it requires a bit more time and attention.

Here we go.

Naruto — Rudy Pankow

Look, he is a perfect Naruto for several reasons. He isn't overly 'Chad' nor too feminine. He has messy blond hair and exudes a chaotic energy (it radiates from him even in pictures). If you're still not entirely convinced, watch this YouTube video featuring him and his funniest moments. Those dimples! Blue eyes? I mean, hello?

Sasuke will be covered in the post with all the Asian characters.

Sakura — Piper America

Big forehead? Check. Pink hair? Yep. She has that unpredictable look in her eyes where you don't know what to expect from her.

Ino — Hunter Schafer

You might recognize her from Euphoria. She possesses this tall beauty combined with a flower-girl energy. Her red carpet look perfectly aligns with Ino's jutsu. The hair pieces are a perfect match, and have you noticed her nose? Ahhh!

Kiba — Dylan Obrien

This was the easiest fan cast ever! Just look at him! He embodies that dog energy in the best possible sense. Also, we'd hire Tyler Hoechlin for motion capture as Akamaru *winks*.

Temari — Florence Pugh

What I appreciate about Temari is her strong backbone and unapologetic character. Florence Pugh not only possesses those qualities, but she also has a broader facial structure that resembles Temari's. With her green eyes, dirty blond hair, and similar demeanor, what more could we ask for?

Gaara — Bill Skarsgård

Hear me out! We can always color his hair and do some black eyeliner as well as red tattoo, but when it comes to capturing Gaara's haunting eyes, who could do it better than Bill Skarsgård himself?Who will have such a slim, prince-like bone structure? Your honor, I rest my case.

Kakashi — Robert Pattison

We needed an actor with eyes that express this nostalgic, covered-in-ashes pain, hand in hand with melancholy and a 'not giving a fuck' vibe. Robert Pattinson or Robert Pattinson? After playing Batman, he has already learned how to portray a traumatized, tired orphan. What more do we need? I did not find his pictures with grey-colored hair, so let me include this black-and-white photoshoot.

Asuma — Hugh Jackman

Charisma, beard, and a bit of spice. Kushina — Abigail Cowen

Hollywood boasts around ten ginger actresses, and they all seem to cycle through fandoms like hand-me-down clothes. However, from among those ten, we had to choose the one who possesses a strong personality and a look that could intimidate. So, we're going with Abigail Cowen. She's already played a role with power struggles before, making her a good fit for depicting Kushina's struggle with Kurama.

Minato — Danny Griffin

Golden Retriever energy! What more can I say? He is the real-life boyfriend of Abigail Cowen (Kushina) and my personal choice for the position of the 4th Hokage.

Tsunade — Elizabeth Olsen

It was a hard choice between her, Scarlett Johansson, and Lady Gaga. But let's be fair — she has the mommy energy, she has a princes-like energy, and looks very much alike the character.

Jiraya — Anson Mount

Daddy.

hi!!! question - do u think Dylan is gonna surprise us and make an appearance in the teen wolf movie? it just feels insane to me that they’d make it without him??? and also dying to know your thoughts and opinions that they announced a character as “Derek’s son” ?? It’s all very wild to me and idk how to feel I need you to tell me how to feel

[I'm going to state some of my opinions because they were directly asked of me. I'm not interested in arguing with people, so if you don't agree with things that I say in this post, just keep scrolling.]

Heyy!! Hopefully my feelings on these things will help you figure out your own lmao ♥

First things first, I don't think DOB will be in the movie. As much as he has said in interviews that he loves the show, he's also expressed a lot of negatives about how it was run. I don't really think he wants to return - regardless of his excuse of liking where the show ended. He's mentioned that the show "has his heart", but I think he means that he has a nostalgic feeling about it because it was where he started as an actor, more so than his love of Teen Wolf as a series. And since he was likely being pressured to do it by fans, I'm glad that he's not forcing himself into a situation he's not excited about.

That being said, I don't think the movie would be stupid enough to pretend he doesn't exist. I'm sure there will be mentions of him - along with maybe an email, text, or phone call where the audience can't hear the other side, so they just pretend Stiles is on the phone.

Eli Hale!! Let me tell you, I am ecstatic.

Looking at the timeline and his appearance, I think the most believable mother would be Paige. He definitely looks like her and that would be a very interesting twist. Maybe a Peter situation, where Talia took memories of a baby? But I would also be very bothered, if they reused the same storyline twice in the show, so... Also, I like this idea because I've had a WIP in the works for months about teenage Paige having a baby and Sterek raising it, so this would play into my worldbuilding quite a bit haha.

The other option would be Kate, which also intrigues me. A hunter-trained werewolf, breaking free of his deranged mother's lifetime of brainwashing when he finds his father's old 'pack'? Give me that!! I would love a storyline like that and it would actually be something that would make sense for why Derek wouldn't know. He would've left to New York before Kate started showing. This could also open up the possibility for getting more information on the Argents. Maybe Eli was raised primarily by Kate's mom or some other relative, with Kate in and out of his life? I think there would be a lot of room to play around with this idea and I'm here for it. Shit, if Eli isn't Kate's, then I might need to start a new WIP.

I know people are all upset about the idea of Eli and who his mom might be, but I really don't see why. Derek is not a real person - he's a character - and it literally doesn't matter how often his past comes back to haunt him. If he's Kate's kid, then there's a lot Jeff Davis can play around with - and fanfic writers, too!

As far as I'm concerned, this movie will do three things:

revive old fandom members, along with bringing in new ones

provide and inspire new content to play around with for edits, moodboards, art, fanfic, etc.

build the Teen Wolf universe

There are no downsides to this movie. We gained a new Hale character to play with! We're getting inspiration for our content creators! We're getting to step back into Beacon Hills! And if it's horrible? Who cares?? Just pretend it didn't happen, like most of this fandom pretends seasons 4-6 didn't exist.

Why stress about a fictional movie, when you could be excited for this new Teen Wolf content?? I'm so ready for it. I'm ready to need to rewrite the whole thing and probably double my WIPs while trying to fix the dumpster fire that the movie will undoubtedly be. You bet your ass I'm getting Paramount+ as soon as the movie comes out.

I feel like a lot of Beth's anger n yelling this season has been at least partially directed at herself.

Liiiike the stuff she gets most mad at is the stuff she's most ashamed of n worried about in herself being mirrored back up at her?

For example, when she's supposed to shoot boomer and she hesitates and she starts yelling at him about how he's trying to fuck over a gang and how he won't be allowed to live... OK yea she doesn't want to murder someone in cold blood (don't forgot she almost killed him with a bottle and then threatened his life in a treehouse etc under different circumstances!) but I really also think she's still processing the fact that not only did she steal from a gang, she did worse - she set the leader up, stole his liberty... And she was allowed to live and I don't think she gets why. I think she's screaming at least partially at herself here: you think (t)he(y)'ll let YOU get away with this?!

And I think this kind thing is also reflected in her sniping at Annie for having only just broken things off with Greg when Annie finds out about her n rio... Beth is sensitive about being 'unfaithful', about forgoing her vows even as she's so fucking mad at Dean. And when that bar car park scene happens where Beth and Annie blow up at each other she hasn't seen rio with Dylan yet but does she maybe have some inkling of unease that he could be making her a party to some other infidelity...? Liiiike... Does she have any real reason to think he's single? Plus she knows he has a kid (which doesn't mean someone isn't single obviously but I think it's telling that she's got some dadt thing going on).

And I think her processing her anger at Ruby's (contemplation of) betrayal is very much played as this to. Cos who Ruby is to Beth (person she unshakeably trusts in, known forever, her ride or die) isn't that presumably... exactly what Beth has been to Dean for almost as long?

I'm certainly not trying to defend Dean but I think it's clear that Beth feels guilty towards him (for getting him shot, for fucking rio, for falling out of love with him and disentangling her life from him, for realising that she never loved him as much as she or at least people are capable of loving) and I think there's no way that she doesn't feel a little guilty for ousting him from his business and sending him to be a house husband while she gets to do exciting crimes and hang out with her fling (and potentially give her the financial n emotional independence to leave him) . Even though it makes sense for her to be handling the business and have him (someone! Their parent!) with the kids that also smacks of punishment... There's other arrangements they could've made with a different split on childcare n business or hell hire help that knows how to tidy or buy milk or do a bun with your shoe boxes full of cash.

So when she's yelling at ruby about 'betrayal', particularly about grabbing the book club calendar while Beth was preoccupied with her (seemingly missing) kid I think that's also a lil paralleling Beth's 'betrayal' of her husband while he's (forced to be) preoccupied with their kids.

I don't think she's mad at her best friend for loving her husband so much. She's mad at herself for not being able to love her own husband more/enough/that much. (And not quite on the same level but there is someone that Beth has betrayed in a similar way n he seems to have forgiven her and I think she's still struggling with processing that. She turned rio in, she threatened HIS family and he still... likes her and I think the enormity of being faced with the idea of being turned in, having her family threatened, having her best friend's family threatened is like a crushing weight... How COULD he forgive her for that?)

I think it's interesting too that when Beth was robbed of all her money she's annoyed and upset of course but she's not raving mad at the kids who did it, she doesn't want them killed, and I think that's because she's been there - she's opportunistically robbed and gotten in over her head and I think she has a teeny bit of empathy for them? Her anger is flying around at Dean and at ruby (and at rio for saying 'panties' lol, something she sure has done in the past 😆) instead.

And when she finds out dean has left with the kids of course she's distraught but I think at least a part of that is because he's stolen her plan. Surely she was gearing up to leave him/kick him out again? If not, the only reason could have been the fact that he's a fucking liability that knows too much and could go to the cops but I feel she could've bribed him to keep him sweet. She tipped her hand too far about how little she cares about him any longer and yes I think he took the kids to hurt her but I also think he took off because her clear lack of affection for and interest in him made him like and love her less and want to leave. She's at least a little mad at him for feeling towards her something like how she feels about him, and for doing to her first what she wanted to do to him.
