The final group film
Sadly couldn’t show the video on blog as the film was too large for the tumblr file.
However I shall talk about the discussion of achievements and feedback. Overall, the teachers were expressed with the film and was a success for the conceive style and creativity of the paper cut medium , clear transitions has been fulfilled
The areas of improvement have been scale to most important to do before the submission date and less important but can be applied over summer break.
Our producer kindly added all the notes which were need individually
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, the group collaboration has been a combined of learning curves. The positives resulted was a great animation success with full transitions and told a clear story , with good decision taking and great producer having great organisation and patience with the team . With the use of paper cut everyone was fairly comfortable with the decision for where some used digital or rostrum or both , we have done a great job to complete.
However to balance there were negatives. We all make mistakes and sometimes try to hide those mistakes , we have personal needs that need attending , however this cause losing a bit of communication when hitting deadlines , naming folders and some not attending to important meetings.however our producer always wrote messages to all device apps we used to communicate so if anyone missed something It can be known straight away or was clear to ask for the help.
When it’s come collaboration work in the industry .Learning how to be in control of stressful moments in calm matter , how to approach the situation when something was not agreed to and how to find a loop of balance , how to approach your opinions with great balance. Enjoying the moment getting to know your partners and learning each strengths and weaknesses how each other can help and learn from one another.

Pendulum swing on paper:
In this lesson, we did the same as before, however, instead of using props we created our own pendulum swings on paper. For this we used F12 paper and peg bars. This meant we could make our animations without having to worry about the paper moving. I found this way of making an animation a little harder than the first pendulum swing. The reason being that we had to make our own time sheets to follow which I found took some time to make, and to get the timings right. In the end it took me two attempts before I was happy with the outcome of my pendulum swing. To record our animations, I again used Dragon Frame with the same settings. Just this time we had to change out the frames as they were on paper.

Day 1.
So today I began learning the fundamentals of dynamic animation. Put into groups, we had the task of creating our first attempt at believable movement, in the form of a pendulum swing. A fairly simple task to accomplish, however, in order to achieve a believable movement, I had to consider the forces acting on the coin such as gravity and the inertia that moves it from side to side. As a first attempt I would say that I was successful in creating this piece although there is always room for improvement! :)

Week 0 - Postcard cut-out animation
The week 0, introduction project, was to create a 12-20 second cut-out animation of a place in Norwich that would be assigned to individual groups. For this animation we would be using materials at hand as well as the line testers and Dragon-frame software to capture our animated postcard.
First we were assigned into groups and given a location. The location our group, group 4, was assigned was the Norwich castle. I was excited about this as I knew the castle had significance to Norwich and British history. The design and its history opened up many possibilities for engaging animation.
Knowing our location, we then visited the landmark and took observational studies of the layout, key features and interpreted the castle through our own eyes and understanding. In addition we also did contextual research about the castle to understand its interesting history. This aspect was very important as it allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of our location which we could use to inform and direct our animation.
The next task was to come up with an engaging, relative and informative storyboard using all we had gathered from our contextual and observational studies of the castle. At first the group seemed disconnected as everyone was focussing on their separate storyboards and ideas and there didn't seem to be a clear destination.
I suggested that we would all storyboard our own ideas using the same parameters of the location, a day and night cycle and seasons which had been agreed on by the group as ideas to use. By doing this it allowed us as a group to see, visually, what everyone else was thinking and it allowed me to gain a better understanding of what my group had in mind for the animated postcard.
The activity allowed us to incorporate the best ideas from the whole group and form this into a story for our postcard. After we had correlated these ideas into a group storyboard, I allocated everyone into roles which they all felt the most comfortable and effective in to ensure that we would be able to meet our deadline for the animation.
We then took our materials and went for a demo test following the storyboard in order to get familiar with cut-out animation and to see if the postcard would flow well for animation and narrative purposes as well as it being entertaining and engaging to watch. We discovered that the animation and storyboard we had designed was accommodating too many different ideas some not relative to our location which made the animation tiring and the narrative hard to follow.
After this we decided to change the tone of our postcard and went for a more loose and comedic narrative. I feel our change in direction helped to motivate more of our group as we began to have more enjoyment experimenting with our postcard such as the introduction of other animation techniques such as pixilation.
As a team we used the Dragon-frame software effectively making use of the onion skin to help adjust and capture appropriate frames for smooth and fluid movement. The final animation was also heavily inspired from the cut-out animation style and comedy of Monty Python with exaggerated proportions and movement.
Overall I am pleased with the animation my group produced. I feel we achieved effective movement and captured character and personality in our short postcard as well as made effective use of both cut-out and pixilation techniques. However, I feel we could have improved in some aspects such as pre-production and the collation of ideas could have been improved which would have given us a clear idea as well as more time which we could have used to create better movement and animation.
For the next project I’ll make sure we have a clear motive for our project, to plan it out effectively as to not waste time and resources which could be spent making a better animated piece.

Collaboration project : Rescale cut out and lay outs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This where I have lay out the similar design from the first pass I produced last week but I have couple of changes by rescaling the lungs and butterflies to an A3 , as I thought to do but was advised by feedback and I’m very happy that it has turn out a lot better and in a good set up of size and position.

Added the butterfly aswell to make sure it all fits well and it surely does

Pendulum swing with props. In this lesson, we worked in pairs to create a series of stop motion pendulum swings using different props. My partner and I chose to use a tennis ball and a golf ball for our project. To make sure we got an accurate movements down for each prop. We decided to take slow motion videos so we could analyse the ways the different weights and sizes of the props changed their movements. Once we had looked through the videos we moved onto creating our stop motions. The program we used was Dragon Frame and we shot at 1920p x 1080p at 25fps (Frames per second). We also shot in twos. Overall, I found creating the swinging pendulums quite easy once I understood the general movement.
