oh boy!!!!!!! I'll start by answering the parameters you specified. Eda features heavily because he is my favorite

I'd get along with Hexyl best, because we are both very similar due to the fact that they were originally going to be a self-insert. They would help me study for my chemistry exams and then we would talk for hours & hours

Most likely candidate for tumblr sexyman is probably Eda - in my mind it'd be his Aligned iteration specifically, being that he's a dark & powerful demigod who is the saddest most pathetic man in the known universe, though Unicron Trilogy Eda has the snark that I think is more characteristic of tumblr sexymen. Whichever iteration, it'd be Eda.

Starscream would try to assassinate Eda less out of pettiness and more for clout, I think? He'd do it to claim that he was the one who brought down the spawn of Unicron and therefore should be rewarded, but Eda is very hard to kill and is very bad at dying. He would catch Starscream in his hands like a firefly and wonder why there was so much violence in his spark. And he would cry.

Hexyl: they have to take off their null rays to do lab work safely, but they're so used to not having integrated weapons that more often than not they'll forget to put them back on before leaving. It takes awhile for them to get used to having weapons that are part of your body after ages of having to borrow blasters.

Eda: he can technically eat nearly whatever he wants with few adverse side effects, but he learns to be picky about his food while on Earth; any waste material he produces gets superheated and aerosolized, so in order to preserve Earth's atmosphere and Detroit's general air quality he has to choose his food more carefully than he otherwise might.

I'll be honest, I have very little idea what I really want to do with them - all I have currently are miscellaneous tidbits. For example, when Betelgeuse gets reassigned - because Hexyl no longer works in the field to the extent that they'd need supervision - I'd imagine Hexyl spends more time with Team Phantos than they did before. Being consistently in a definitive set of locations (their main lab, which I don't know where it is yet, and perhaps a few ancillary labs on various ships) affords them the luxury of time for socialization; losing the one person they trusted & leaned on most had them clinging to whatever vestiges of normalcy they could manage.

25. What are their thoughts on marriage?

-> They don't currently have a significant other who they'd want to marry (or, rather, conjunx) - and even then the prospect seems daunting & to some degree confining. The idea of being bound to a single person for the rest of their life seems rife with societal standards they couldn't live up to & have no interest in pursuing. They don't have a reason to, technically.

If someone they know wants to get married, though, they'll be happy for them; other people's choices aren't their business.

38. What memory do they revisit the most often?

-> Prior to their reformat, Hexyl often revisited the memory of the Incident that led to their fleeing Cybertron, whether consciously or in nightmares. Post-reformat, they're often reviewing the memories of their past that have thus far been decrypted, trying to make sense of the details and ultimately being haunted by the implications.

B) What inspired you to create them?

-> Their original concept counts as my first oc and was initially something of a self-insert that became something more over time. Making them into Hexyl, though... that was borne of a study exercise in my Organic Chemistry class in which I had to complete a reaction involving n-hexyl chloride and thought, "ooh, Hexyl sounds like a cool name. I should put some lore to that".

I am SO intrigued and enamored with Hexyl. What would you say are the biggest differences between Hexyl and Helix?

The primary difference is a higher grade of self-confidence - Hexyl's words are just as nervous but they now speak up and for themselves more often, which is likely how they were able to get the training required to be a chemist in the first place. Being closer to eye-level with the rest of their faction gives them a greater feeling of respect as a fellow Decepticon (versus being looked down upon as a former Autobot), and brand-new integrated weapons alleviate their paranoia slightly and allow them to actually contribute during firefights.

In that same vein, however, there's a grade of clumsiness that comes with being taller and having parts you didn't have before. Their abilities as a superlearner are a big help with adjustment, but they still actively sought out help with learning to use their lasers. (Wingspeak, however, wasn't something they paid overmuch attention to until Starscream pointed out how improperly Hexyl was using them in conversation.)

#i don't have an asks tag yet #transformers #maccadam #transformers oc #oc: hexyl #i include the wingspeak bit mostly because i love your characterization of starscream #hexyl doesnt register that their new wings are there for a while bc they have to integrate new codes for them that they didn't have prior #w their old spring-activated wings their wing sensors are shut off by default until the wings are deployed #& because of this they have to get new codes that fool their cpu into keeping the sensors active by repeatedly tripping the deploy codes #BUT since theyre used to not feeling their wings in robot mode the new trick codes only trip the deploy codes every so often #so they dont get overwhelmed by the new sensations. though gradually they do end up being able to have their sensors active constantly #because of this though in the early cycles post-reformat they can't feel their wings BUT they can still move them #& have temp proximity sensors installed so they don't bash them on any surfaces or get injured without knowing it #so it's easy to tell when the deploy codes trip bc one minute their wings will be fidgeting like hell & the next theyre nearly statue-still #but even when the deploy codes are tripped more often they still need to learn how to use wingspeak properly #damn sorry (/j) for the extra lore. i love talking about specifics /gen #thewiglesswonder
