ASKBOX IS OPEN REQUESTS ARE OPEN HERE ARE THE RULES
ground rules:
1) Funny- the request needs to be humorous, memes usually the most popular but dnd in jokes and other shitpostery is welcome. i abide by the MBMBAM NO BUMMERS rule - there are plenty of sad/deep/beautiful calligraphers out there who’d be happy to work with yall, but this isn’t that sort of channel
2) Length - aim for no more than 75 characters a request, my cue cards are only so big so I can only fit so much on each one and still not look like garbage. There is a little leeway but if you send me smth with like 120 characters it aint getting written
3) Amount of Requests - I am trying to be fair but i am one person running almost the ENTIRE thing, logistics, tech, etc, I have twitch mods and a roommate for retrieving things and that's it. In order to be fair, please restrict yourselves to 3 requests per person to let everyone have a shot, if you send in more i will ctrl-f your username and pick my favourites
4) Content - I will not do anything I consider under the umbrella of general assholery - this includes racial slurs, edgelord bullshit, exclusionist jackassery etc. Please be kind to each other. Please let me know if I’ve taken a request that is some incredibly obscure piece of assholery, someone once tried to slip a really obscure antisemetic piece of slang by me once
5) Repeats - I keyword tag EVERY SINGLE piece i’ve ever done on this blog, if you think I might have written smth already but aren’t sure, the /search/[keyword] is your friend, check if i’ve done your request before
the askbox is theshitpostcalligrapher.tumblr.com/ask , not a dm or submission to the blog. I’ll close submissions too so people don’t get the boxes confused. DM me for any actual clarifications, kind words, etc so they don’t get swallowed up by the behemoth of my askbox for months, and if you want to give me live encouragement the twitch link is right there, and is the ideal way to inquire more about any of the day's rules.
If you want to jump the ENTIRE queue and get your card done immediately, there are ways to donate on the twitch stream to get your request done with an ink of your choice. You can still submit 3 free requests in addition to what you pay for.
I’ll be streaming the entire time the askbox is open on twitch @ theshitpostcalligrapher, trying to get as many of these done today as possible live. Once 10PM EST hits, the askbox will close but if you get your request into the askbox by then, it will be done eventually as I always have 4 cards up per day.

Openaskbox Countdown: To Jan 20, 2024
ayyyyy so i’m at the bottom of the askbox, and old timers on this blog know what that means!
time for the countdown to the next openaskbox event!
Openaskbox streams are when i get to the bottom of my request inbox, during which the askbox will open for the first time in months and everyone gets a chance to yeet up to three free requests my way. there’s a few rules you gotta follow for your request to be considered, but I’ll post more about that on the day of.
I will endeavor to do as many requests as I can during the event (which lasts between 4-6 hours) on stream so people can hang out, chat, ask about calligraphy and the like whilst listening to some tunes.
When time’s up, the askbox will close again and I’ll use the remaining hundreds of unanswered asks to fuel my regular 4 posts/day (28/week) queue card post schedule until the next time we run dry.
This time it’s sort of a weird day bc its a Monday, but I’ll hopefully see plenty of you Saturday January 20th at 3pm to 10pmish EST on the usual twitch channel

hi! so requests are not open until openaskbox day, that's when the /ask inbox opens up for just a few (4-6) hours and you can get it in then.
I think you’ve mistaken submissions for asks. it’s a common enough mistake
rules for submissions will pop up day of, we’ll see you saturday

Open Askbox Countdown
okay so i’m at the end of my current queue, which means the countdown clock for an openaskbox event starts now - i’ll be doing one sunday, probably around 3-8 pm EST
Regulars will know what that means, but for newcomers, this is how I load up my inbox for my daily queue - I’ll be running either a twitch or youtube livestream (i’ll figure that out in the next few days) wherein my askbox opens up and you can send up to 3 requests/person to me.
I try to get as many of them done on camera during the stream as possible, during which I promo the hell out of my kofi so I can try to earn enough money during the stream to buy a meal for myself as a reward for the end of stream.
I do q/a about calligraphy/crafting/culinary/whatever during the stream, and then the moment 8pm hits, the askbox closes up and I start organizing whatever I haven’t completed during the livestream into my queue for the next few months.
I’ll make a post with more details on request rules day of, see yall then

Welcome to openaskbox day folks!!!!!!! Got some ground rules and instructions for how today’s gonna go and then we’ll hop right to it, PLEASE READ THESE CAREFULLY
Overview
Askbox will be open from the hours of 3pm est to 9pm est. I will be attempting to answer as many as i can on livestream (liink at the end of the post) within that time frame, then after it closes up I’ll slowly work through the askbox til its empty again and i do another livestream in a few months. My kofi link will be posted with each of the pieces that go up today, the idea is i generate enough money on paypal to pay for my mid-stream food break around 7pm
Ground Rules - What Qualifies as a Shitpost Request?
1) funny - this blog is not a calligraphy blog for serious/beautiful content, there are plenty of folks who specialize in making your precious phrases and moments even more precious. I’m sorry, but this blog isn’t one of them. That being said, it doesn’t have to necessarily be a widespread meme, dumb in jokes and dnd nonsense is welcome.
2) short - I can fit up to about 70ish characters per cue card with my type of pen, if you think you’re pushing it, double check in a wordcounter to make sure your shot’s going to come through
3) kind - do not be an asshole. this category covers things like no requesting slurs, no screaming for your request to be done through spamming, and generally being kind and understanding to others who are also requesting/hanging out in the stream. Thank you.
4) Request limiter - please try to stick to up to three requests per person, i would like to be fair to everyone who sends in requests, if you’d like more and want to skip that lineup of folks, my etsy is available in my description for commissions big and small
Other basic stuff
Duplicates - I keyword tag every single card i’ve ever done. I might have already done your request weeks ago, and you can easily check by going to the blog and /search/[keyword of your request] and scrolling through to check.
Letting me know about stuff - if you want to just say hi/have overall inquiries about calligraphy, that’s what the stream is for. i’m streaming on youtube to make it easier for people to AMA me directly, your general questions are likely going to be swallowed up in the askbox by requests.
