The thing about romeo and juliet is that to a normie it may seem like an insanely impulsive and poorly thought out decision on their parts when they get married but if you're someone who is rlly into opera (me) you will know that it is, when it comes to live entertainment, actually one of the more realistically paced relationships out there
So in the Doctor Who movie, the 8th doctor claims that Puccini died before he could finish Madama Butterfly (1904) .Except that this is false, as Puccini’s last opera was actually Turandot (1924)(though it WAS unfinished at his death).
This could just be a mistake on the writers part or them just using a more famous opera to mention, but I choose to believe in the DW universe the publication of the two were switched lol
Watching the Operavision.eu performance of William Tell, and it is gorgeous (go see for yourself here if you find yourself with 3.5 hours to kill sometime soon!), but the "Oui, vous l'arrachez à mon âme" duet has me yearning for a performance in which Arnold is played by a butch. Queer people are probably like 75% of who's keeping opera alive in the first place anyway, we can and should have a little lesbian Matharnold as a treat!
Fuck everyone in Elisir d'amore except for Belcore, he's a real one. Dude's fiancee runs off with another guy on the day of their wedding and his response is "Eh whatever." Some baritones could learn a thing or two
imagine you are a very poor and gay man. and this older woman offers you a loan. And you accept on the condition that you'll marry her if you can't repay it. Well this whole loan was a scam, and she is a con artist, and you can't repay her. Somehow you manage to avoid marrying her. And then you go and help her run the exact same fucking scam on a different guy
Having Cinderella's Prince Charming played by a woman is everything actually
It's Cinderella and the Prince's aching loneliness being mirrored in each other, their plight being the same despite their different backgrounds, finding someone who just gets you, two parallel lines that finally get to meet
