Actually feel like sharing a WIP for once, bc I'm accidentally making Artemis & Apollo more detailed than I intended....but I wanna show their new designs off already

#my art #my ocs #wip #oc: artemis cindra #oc: apollo cindra #os: jonas doesnt know #also having the time of my life making each of the JDK villains represent one of the seven deadly sins #bc artie is envy and pol is greed #and do u know how funny it is that BOTH of those sins have the same color symbolism used for them? #do u know how funny it is that those two colors are green + yellow? the predominant colors of artie n pols designs? #these two were doomed to represent envy & greed long before i ever consciously made that decision AKDJDKAL #just like nisha got a performance + casual outfit redesign #artie n pol will have 2 outfits as well....i p sure ive decided these sketches are their performance outfits? #i have the other outfits sketched too but i think i'll wait until their full refs are done to show those off

on the subject of JDK as a story though, i HAVE had a lot of thoughts start clicking into place over the past couple days so some new decisions;

-thinking I'll change Nightshade's name to Solanace(the genus nightshade plants are from). Bc again I created her concept + name as an edgy kid and i feel like she needs it to be a bit more subtle

-tossing around some ideas for the name of her organization....leaning towards referring to her followers as "the Nightchildren" for no reason other than I think it has a nice ring to it. Not saying it will 100% be that, but it's the best I got so far

-"Jonas doesn't know" was a placeholder title in reference to my first tumblr url that I had for years, I never intended it to remain. Now that I've figured out more of the plot I wanna focus on brainstorming a new title. Collecting keywords/phrases to draw inspiration from 🤔

-I don't think I'm gonna lean completely into "Solanace is super evil" anymore, I think she's just. Very self-centered and willing to do whatever it takes to reach her goals. She genuinely does love and care for her followers- as long as they're of use to her. They aren't considered expendable to her until they stop providing what she needs from them and she will fight to protect them up until that point

finally discovered a way to do shading that.....isn't completely awful?? im going a lil insane over this newfound power but shhh

Completely finished redesigning my old, edgy 12yo self insert and...I'm feeling some sort of way

like she is no longer me, she is officially 100% her own character, but...drawing her felt like coming home. lowkey getting that same feeling i did the split second i finished designing Josy where i went "ah fuck, im gonna obsess over this one aren't i?" except i already did that w/ her once

spent the last few days having intense brainworms for JDK and TNL, which was really good considering they were the story with the least amount of work and the story needing to most revamps respectively. might ramble a bit about the things ive figured out for them later 👀

#my original stories #os: jonas doesnt know #os: the nameless #went back and forth wrt how i wanted to fix TNL but i think ive mostly settled now #and JDK got 4 of my edgy 12yo ocs revamped and shoved into it #which helped me figure out A Lot of what i want the actual plot to be now #also i think its funny that most of my stories have 3 times as many 'good guys' as they do villains #but JDK now has 7 villains and only 3 good guys. also one of those good guys switches to the dark side so #idk it makes me laugh and it also makes it interesting compared to my usual plot styles #os: cardinal values

i have very few cishet ocs and i intended for apollo to be straight woman when i created her, and that lydia's crush on her was one-sided. but also now im like, wouldn't it be funny if apollo explicitly stated in the beginning of the story that she's straight and then i give her one of those "sure hope this doesn't awaken anything in me" moments w/ lydia (likely during a fight, given lyd is one of the good guys and pol is the main villain)and then it absolutely awakens something in her

actually wait no- thematically speaking it makes way more sense to swap Artemis & Apollo's species. ties up some loose ends i needed to fix with JDK's resolution and also like, i made specific changes to Succubi & Incubi so that they weren't a gendered thing. and all my Incubi get really fucky w/ their genders, but for some reason my Succubi are all still female? two birds, one stone n all, make Artie the succubus and Apollo the Incubus

i do think it's really funny that JDK as a project started out with Jonas as the main focus and everything else secondary, but then I put my repurposed old edgy OC i adored when I was 12 in it.......and now I'm just like "what if she gets to be super important too? What if she's just as integral to the story?" bc i have no self control

ya know, most of my villains are bad enough ppl that the intention is that they'll be killed off/otherwise gotten rid of indefinitely but like. Apollo(& by extension Lydia at the end) technically isn't that evil and i don't think she deserves to be flat-out murdered. and tbh the idea of those 2 being left to fuck off somewhere at the end of JDK really amuses me for some reason

randomly had JDK pop in my head again and while i still haven't nailed down the actual plot details, i got a couple more nice ideas? namely having to do w/ how i decided all 3 of the protagonists fall in love w/ the villain lady bc "wouldn't it be funny if they all went 'i can fix her' and then none of them succeeded?". bc i still think that's hilarious, but also.....might be interesting to make Lydia's arc be "i can fix her- oh no she made me worse"

i also got some more solid plans for Jonas Doesn't Know during the hurricane so;

Main Plot: Three people who have been cursed coming together to try and fix their respective problems.

-Jonas has no memory of how/when they were cursed, but they can never have a restful sleep again. They have constant nightmares of dying violently, and then those deaths keep nearly happening in the waking world too

-Lydia wanted to wish for her family to love her more than they loved her siblings. It backfired and she was cursed to completely lose her families love. She became a lycanthrope, something her family universally hated

-Hayes tried to wish to stop being scared of one particular thing and in turn was cursed to be afraid of everything
