I can tell that I have evolved as a role player in my short year and a half to two years of writing. When I first started and for the longest time I loved doing the quick and fast chat style RP where we would respond with like a paragraph or so per response and it was so fast and full of life. But now I feel as though I have matured and am much more content doing a note style Rp than a chat one. What I mean is that I am much slower and methodical on how I respond to things. I'm not as full of life and energy as I was when I first started. The point here being that I am back to writing on here but I need time and patience from my partners. I always give my best quality but I do it at my pace, and those that can respect that have my love and I will write with them happily.

A misconception of Shizuo being a 'precious cinnamon roll' and ought to be protected despite his apparent flaws? (I remember seeing a post debunking that somewhere)

well, alrighty then. let’s break this down.

i wouldn’t call shizuo a ‘precious cinnamon roll,’ simply because that implies–in basic tumblr definition–someone who is pure, always kind and turning the other cheek and loves everyone no matter what. because it’s impossible for anyone to be a perfect cinnamon roll at all.

what i do know is shizuo suffers from extreme self-hate and it impacts his self-esteem horribly. he constantly beats himself up over his rages and the distance it puts between himself and other people. even believing to the point that he can’t love people because he will only harm them. and the knowledge he will never be loved because of that same reason.

i don’t believe he needs to be protected either, but i don’t think he needs to suffer more than he already does. as for his flaws…

i don’t know if i will get all of them, but i’ll be the first to admit that even with everything said thus far it doesn’t excuse shizuo. yes, he shows remorse for his actions and does his best to change them(whether they’re within his control or not)but regardless of effort he still has to take responsibility for and suffer the consequences of what he does.

he is willing to beat someone to near death regardless of gender/race/etc. he is also easily triggered by mentions of his brother due to his own self-imposed guilt(a byproduct of his lack of esteem and self-hate, but a flaw nonetheless). he tends to act impulsively and before thinking things through and resorts almost indefinitely to his fists to solve his problems despite how he professes to hate violence and blames other people for setting him off in the resulting cooldown.

these are all flaws. all of which i won’t hesitate to drag into the spotlight.

but, people also don’t leave shizuo be when he’s beginning to snap in the times we have seen him trying to hold his ground and not fly into rage. yes, he snaps over small things and i won’t hide that.

the issue is when people assume shizuo is the only one at fault all the time. he isn’t, but i will be the first to cast necessary blame on him when he does.

sorry if i sound defensive or like i’m not doing the meme ‘correctly,’ but i feel like the ask itself was pretty passive-aggressive and all-in-all trying to make me tear my muse down? like no? not happening.
