OXENFREE II: LOST SIGNALS SPOILERS AHEAD

Oxenfree II, like Oxenfree before it, has multiple endings, and a small detail from one particular ending has me asking a particular question. More [somewhat spoiler-y] details under the cut

If you've played through Oxenfree II at least once, then you know that you have a significant choice to make at the end, and this specifically discusses something from the ending where you choose Riley (as that's the only ending I've gotten so far, I've only played once bc I've been busy) to stay behind

Okay, cool. Now for my question: Is Charlie... trans?

Does this imply that Charlie recently trans-ed his gender? Or am I reading entirely too much into it?

In the Riley ending, you walk past a radio, and if you interact with it and tune it to 88.1, Maria gives you a shout out from Charlie and Violet, and she tells you to go get a free glass of OJ from Charlie's sister at the Pancake Mill. Her next line begins "She's--he's talking about Cynthia"

things that are (probably) true now that we have canon birthdates for the oxenfree characters

the events of the original oxenfree take place on june 4th, 2016. if taken into town, nona reveals that her birthday is in 3 days. since we now know that her birthday is june 7th, and that lost signals takes place 5 years afterwards in 2021, we finally know the exact day the first game happens. yay!

clarissa's birthday happens to fall on the same day that anna was killed. as maggie writes in adler letter 9, april 4th is the day in 1952 that she and anna tried to bring the sunken back.

last year, ren went to the movie theater and watched oppenheimer with nona (and clarissa) because she wanted to see it, even though he wanted to go see barbie, and it was his birthday that day.
