Their Presents: An Editorial

Several hours before I began writing this, I was attending a small reunion for some of my closest friends. I realized, standing among them, that much of the world sees them as great heroes, when I have always known them as just… People. Living. Thriving. Healing. So, with their permissions, I give you a behind-the-scenes scoop to what Dumbledore’s Army does today.

Let us start with the hosts of the night.

Here we have Parvati and Lavender Patil-Brown, recently married. They finished their honeymoon travelling in India and Ireland.

Susan Bones, Ernie Macmillian, and Hannah Abbott have all been working on different projects within in the ministry. Ernie especially has become a sort of cover boy, since he loves photographs.

Cho Chang and Ginny Potter have both gone into the Quidditch realm, but meet every few weeks to practice against each other. Ginny has a one match lead currently.

Hermione Granger tries to visit the now Professor Longbottom every few weeks, just so they can catch up and discuss possible education reform (I think it’s boring, but they can talk for hours).

Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnegan recently became engaged, the pair simultaneously proposing at a Muggle sporting game called football. The date is to be set, but Seamus has already proclaimed that the two will be wearing veils with marriage robes. Dean has rejected the idea of setting them on fire, “For dramatic effect.”

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Lee Jordan meet at all of Ginny Potter’s matches, Lee and Ron often narrating satirically with Harry recording for Ginny to listen to later on.

Padma Patil, now a Healer, and George Weasley try to meet once a month so St. Mungo’s is well prepared for any joke mishaps coming out of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. The St. Mungo’s administration is incredibly grateful for it, apparently.

All the photographs were taken by Dennis Creevey, who now runs a wizard and muggle photography studio. He can make your pictures not move if you like!

And then there’s me, Anthony Goldstein, a writer for the Quibbler. It feels like all of us should have more glamorous lives, but no. We are all just living. Hopefully I’ve given you a fresher look at my friends’ lives. Not their pasts, but their presents.

The Eighth Years have graduated and are settling into life in the real world. Love continues to blossom, relationships are forged and challenged, and more opportunities to right the wrongs of the past arise.
