CRAZY THEORY GUYS LISTEN TO IT
In all of Pathologic games Aspity says: "I have a hole under my heart." I was thinking about it recently and after listening some song I've got an idea.
The hole under her heart is a hole made by Polyhedron in the earth. She came from the earth, Kin respect her because she "speaks to them on her behalf", so her body is projection of it. Wounds or feelings she feels are repeated from the earth.
//According to this theory, a phrase "I feel like my skin is being pierced by needles" means the Town built on the earth or graves being digged because of the Plague? 🤔🤔🤔

a Pathologic tier list based on how good of an adult the characters are to Clara, a child
Tumblr media
this is based on P1, but the tier list site i was using only had the P2 models!
i was meant to have longer, more in-depth explanations, but then i got lazy 😅 so i just have some basic reasoning!
also i haven’t replayed the Changeling route in a few months, so i’m going off of memory!
Actually A Kind, Considerate Adult To A Stressed and Traumatized Child
Lara- Lara is hands down the best adult in this entire game. She’s kind, understanding, and patient with Clara. She never insults her, and even when Clara is being a bit snooty, she still treats her gently. She also literally has a line where she points out that Clara is a child struggling with an immense burden. She calls attention to the fact that she’s just a kid, which NOBODY ELSE DOES.
“Poor thing, I’m so sorry for you. I wouldn’t want to carry your burden.”
It can kinda be read as pity, but pity is better than the cruelty and ignorance to her situation most of the others give her.
Also she has the one voice like where she’s like, “Poor child, she’s so tired” in reference to Clara.
Lara stays winning fr fr
The Tragedians and Executors- Idk if these guys can count, but they’re here anyway. They’re always so nice to Clara, calling her little pet names and explaining stuff to her in a kind way. They talk to her like how adults talk to young children, which she is. And it’s wild how these bitches beat THE ENTIRETY OF THE WHOLE CAST, minus Lara.
A Good Adult
Oyun- I actually cannot believe this guy is this high.
Surprisingly, he’s actually pretty nice to Clara. If not nice, then very respectful. He treats her like a queen.
Rubin- He’s chill with her 👍 (if i remember correctly)
Yulia- Similar to Rubin, she’s chill toward Clara, minus, I think, one little offhand comment that’s kind of rude. But compared to what some of the bitches below say to her, it may as well be a compliment.
Decent But Has Their Moments
Artemy- So, I feel like Artemy is very neutral toward Clara. There is that part in the Changeling route where he sends her a letter where he threatens to kill her, BUT that only happens if you rat out his location to Daniil, so it’s not a set event that always happens.
He speaks to her very curtly, and you can get the sense that he’s probably annoyed by her presence, but he’s not outwardly verbally abusing her unlike others.
If this were a ranking based on P2 interactions, however, he would be WAY LOWER because jfc, he is SO MEAN to Clara.
Daniil- So, he was actually lower at first, but then I saw some really good posts talking about how he cares for Clara in his own way (giving her money, keeping her in the Stillwater, worrying over her)—even if they are a little unconventional.
However, that doesn’t erase the fact that he is still pretty awful to her at times. I mean, he literally threatens to kill her twice, one of which happened when he first met her.
I love the “Daniil is a reluctant father figure to Clara” so much, but I also don’t think he would be any higher than this.
Also, like Artemy, if this were for interactions in P2, he would absolutely be lower.
Neutral
Olgimsky- I think he and Clara talk exactly two (2) times, and both interactions are short and don’t really do anything for the story (if i remember correctly). Also I don’t think they give af about each other at all.
Bad Grief- Neutral. I could have put him higher, actually. He seemed actually kind of nice.
Eva- Same with Bad Grief. Her interaction with Clara wasn’t hostile at all.
Victor- I’ll be real with y’all- I don’t remember them talking 😭
Not A Good Adult
Maria- She’s my second favorite character in the whole game (just behind Clara ofc), but even I can’t deny how cruel she is to Clara. She is SO MEAN.
Aspity- I actually had no idea where to put her. At first, she was in the “decent” section, but that didn’t seem right. Then she was in “Neutral,” but that didn’t seem right, either. Finally, I just decided to put her here. Because, looking back on their interactions, they were pretty hostile.
I don’t think Aspity liked Clara. A lot of the things she said to Clara were either vaguely threatening or directly threatening.
Anna Angel- She was so rude to Clara in the Haruspex route when Clara came running to her house, crying, on Day 6. Also I remember her making shots at Clara often.
Georgiy- Literally threatened to kill Clara the moment he met her. Enough said.
Mark- I remember this bitch ass being snappy with her. Which is good enough for me.
Vlad Jr.- This dude isn’t necessarily mean, but I do remember him being weirdly fanatical toward Clara. He spoke to her like she wasn’t a child but rather someone to be idolized.
Peter- He also wasn’t rude, but I just felt very uncomfortable every time he talked to her. He didn’t speak to her like a child but rather an adult. And yeah, a lot of people did that, but he was just so creepy to me. He acted like she was a goddess or something. It really rubbed me the wrong way.
Block- This may be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I just can’t put this guy anywhere but here.
Yes, he was kind to her, but he also idolized her, which is just…Not Very Good. Also he fully tries to bring her to war?? If you say no when he first makes the offer, he literally ignores her and keeps going on about it which is a huge red flag.
Horrible Fucking Person
Andrey- I can’t stand this guy. Y’all don’t understand how deep my hatred for him goes. But this spot isn’t even a biased decision he is, SO CRUEL. The way he screams in Clara’s face when she went to his bar?? And yeah, he’s kinda right in some sense, she isn’t old enough to fully understand what she’s doing, but that is not her fault in any way. The blame should fall upon Katerina for making her run around indoctrinating people, not her. And he shouldn’t have yelled at a little girl, spewing insults at her, because at that point, his argument is meaningless when it directly attacks her.
He’s terrible. I hate him.
What The Fuck Is Wrong With You
Aglaya- Basically every word she spoke to Clara felt like a shotgun blast to the chest and had my jaw on the FLOOR. I was not expecting the sheer disgust and hatred she had toward this child.
As such, I have compiled a short list of some of the things she said to Clara:
1. Calls her a “dim, pathetic creature”
2. Calls her insane and deranged
3. Accuses her of having a split personality disorder and being schizophrenic
4. “Prohibits her from existing”
5. Says she has to leave the town or else she’ll have her executed
Among other stuff.
Obligatory “Awful Parents” Spot
The Saburovs- I could go on about how horrible these guys are. Not even just as people, but as parents, too.
The neglect, the exploitation, the abuse, the total disregard for Clara’s feelings when she comes back traumatized while carrying a severed head, the way she’s used to inaugurate people into a religion…
They are truly awful people, and they do not deserve Clara.

Need to rant about the Marble Nest because I just. I cannot get over it. It is everything to me. Every time I hear “Birdies... birdies... Gather ye here...” I want to eat door hinges and run up the walls and put myself in a blender
There’s something utterly tragic to me about the image of Daniil lying in bed delirious and feverish and dying while these children who care about this weird Capital doctor so much are trying to break his fevers like he taught them to, and it fucks me up even more considering when Spichka asks Daniil who looks after him when he’s sick Daniil just. Doesn’t answer him. And the narrator’s line (I love that they got Martin Cooke he absolutely ate and imo elevates the entire game) “a warm, dry hand seemed to have touched your forehead soothingly. It’s going to be all right” OH MY GOD I just. I can only wretch and sob about the fact that Daniil is being taken care of and at least for a moment he feels like it’s all going to be okay, exactly as he’s been saying throughout the beginning. Also when the narrator says “Somewhere, bells are chiming, softly. Bells are chiming around the marble nest. The bells, are chiming, softly.” Not only does Cooke’s delivery make me feral beyond words (particularly that last one where he whispers ‘softly’) but I mean. surely this is referring to Daniil hearing his own goddamn funeral bells which just SCREAMING CRYING BITING SCRATCHING COMMITTING UNSPEAKABLE ACTS.
Plus when Spichka warns Daniil against giving Shrew nuts because, as we learn, Shrew wants to let Daniil die. I unfortunately can’t find the exact quote but I believe Spichka says smth about how Shrew doesn’t think it’s right for Daniil to suffer as he is (there is blood in my mouth !!!!!). She clearly just wants Daniil to rest and not be in pain anymore; she thinks she can create a Focus so she can still talk to him. I’m also Highly Emotional about Spichka because he’s so adamant about Daniil continuing to live, even if it’s just in his fever dream, this poor kid just wants Daniil to keep going. These kids have known Daniil Bitchelor for all of ten days and they care about him so much !!!
I’m also hung up on everyone telling Daniil that he doesn’t know how to die properly, especially when Aspity likens him to a child covering his eyes because he doesn’t want to see the truth, which gets me too because it makes me think about how defeated and afraid Daniil probably is when he realizes what’s going on. I think it’s even more tragic in the sense that Daniil is dying having failed to meet Simon and save Thanatica, failed to prove death can be conquered, and couldn’t even protect the Town from the plague, either, and I can’t imagine Daniil would handle any of that well. I feel like he’d think everything—plague and all—was his fault, especially with the context of the Executor/Death saying, “Who was the murderer: a sickness that let no second go to waste—or you, who bothered not to hurry? I think it’s the latter.”
Also when Daniil does agree to die properly and the Executor tells Daniil “Give me your hand,” and Daniil can say “Here it is”,,,,,, Yes I am being dramatic but actually it makes me insane to imagine Daniil finally taking Death’s hand after fighting it for so many years. Even though I love this horrible little man with all my heart, I disagree with his whole “no more death” thing. I’m not going to like. Expound on my philosophy about death here aafnkgk but suffice it to say I like the idea of Daniil accepting that death is not something that can be defeated; though, I don’t think his idealism is useless or a negative trait, only that it has to be tempered with some realism.
So here is as good a point as any to scream about endings.
It's a cycle. A pause. Things will change. And the day starts anew.
That. Tjat second sentence is lodged in my cortex and it is not coming out I ougghh I love stories that repeat so much. And I’ve played the Marble Nest just. Too many times (and I’ll do it again) and I might be imagining it, because I’ve never seen anyone else talk about it, but every time I’ve gotten a different ending the game is a little different when I play it again. I find that extremely immersive if I’m not just gaslighting myself, because it puts the player in the same situation as Daniil, with things changing subtly; you get to accompany Daniil on his Fun Fever Delirium Death Adventure. On the one hand I think it’s a little painful that Daniil is going to just live in this delirium forever, but on the other one, I like how Daniil’s decision to repeat the day encapsulates continuing to fight for life, even if it seems hopeless or in vain.  It feels very “Do not go gentle into that good night / Rage, rage against the dying of the light"
And finally The transition is real, and the timeline continues. So does the entity I call myself.
I don’t want to get into meta too much, but. I kind of like this line knowing people have written/drawn/etc. endings to this nightmare where Artemy saves him with panacea (Magpie Crown’s “Conjunction of Spheres” animatic !!). All these different endings people have given Daniil’s story in general. This is silly but I like to think of it as yeah, The Powers That Be played a cruel game with you, but other people are kinder to you (or make you suffer more, depends on their persuasion). Your story keeps going, depending on who picks up the thread, you’re going to keep going.
Anyway everyone go watch CodexEntry’s video on the Marble Nest <3

Pathologic Vampire The Masquerade AU bc apparently I'm not the only person in the middle of this venn diagram of fandoms
Artemy: Tzimisce, from a long line of Kolduns, though with little knowledge of sorcery himself. More capacity for Vicissitude than Isidor (his sire, obv) had, though mostly focused on Animalism and conventional Protean.
-Rubin: Was ghouled by Isidor, with the expectation that he would one day be embraced. Hence, there's some tension between him and his 'brother' Artemy, who was embraced, especially when it appears that Artemy killed diablerized? Isidor and ruined Rubin's chances. Since Isidor's death Clara has become his regnant.
Daniil: Tremere. He's an arrogant academic who the fuck else would embrace him. I also like to think he's got connections with the Ministry back in the capitol (snakes <3), and is only very begrudgingly operating under the Powers That Be Ivory Tower. He got in touch with Simon to hopefully learn Oblivion/Necromancy in a Know Thine Enemy type way as part of his quest for a greater understanding of death/undeath.
-The Kains: Hecata Family 100%, like they literally canonically have necromancy. Simon is the lowest gen, of course, with Georgiy and Nina being his childer (though Georgiy was only embraced shortly before Simon's "final death"). Nina, as well, embraced Maria, just before her own. Victor is just a ghoul, the poor guy, because his brothers still needed someone who could walk in the sun to actually run the town. Kaspar is still human, I think.
-The Stamatins: Twin Toreadors. Though they came to WoDToG as humans, their reputation preceded them and had already caught the attention of Farkhad, their future sire. Though it's thought he sired them both, in actuality Farkhad only embraced one of them, before being staked by the other- who was then embraced by their twin. Rumor has it that the two didn't just put Farkhad to final death, but that he was diablerized by the second childe. (Though no one has proven anything, and which twin would be the diablerist is anyone's guess.) They also both knew Daniil prior to his embrace.
Clara: Antitribu Malkavian. Crawled from the grave, in true shovel-head fashion, and took on the mantle of a saint to those lurking on the fringes of the WoDToG. Her madness manifests as her 'twin,' though in this au they are truly one and the same.
-The Humbles: All ghouled by Clara, with the exception of Katerina and Aspity. (In the Humbles ending her "sacrifices" are embraces to form a sabbat pack.) Katerina was already a Caitiff, though she was embraced by the Nosferatu? Gangrel? Rat Prophet, and not dealing with it very well. Aspity is her own mysterious thing (aka I can't make up my mind about her, but she's definitely not one of Clara's ghouls).
This is all ive got so far, though if anyone else has ideas/opinions id love to hear them. Also, though this has been lurking in my head for a while, the posting of it was spurred on by @cabbagege's awesome art and chatting w my friend @dykeferatu so im gonna @ both of you

Top 5 fave patho characters? Top 5 fav patho ships? Top 5 fave patho character designs? 🤔🤔😈😈[throws these questions at you and then bolts]
OH FUN, I love thinking about these things 😀
TOP FIVE PATHO CHARACTERS
I have a more extensive write-up on my top two that you can read here, but I can try to sum it up to the best of my ability
1. Artemy
BIG strong beautiful body
Tired sarcastic dad who can do a punch
Intelligent but humble about it
Goals and conflict I can understand
Tumblr media
2. Daniil
Poor little hiss hiss
Little freak of a man who is always freaking out, hot!
Byronic hero-esque, self-destructive dramatic bastard
Romanticizing his melancholic solitude
Shoots a gun real good and will throw hands
I do this to him
Tumblr media
This will be a bit of a long post, so more under the cut
3. Stickyson
I LOVE MY STICKYSON!!! He’s so earnest and smart and a rascal, love to see a kid with big aspirations and eager to help
I keep thinking as he grows up with his two dads, how funny it would be if he picks up the best and worst traits between the both of them, so he’d be very kind, and intelligent, but have a temper and a smart mouth
Love this kid, S-tier orphan
4. Rubin
IDK MAN, I JUST FIND RUBIN VERY FUNNY, just the way he holds grudges, how he thinks in straight lines, how he’s so bitter about being second-best, so to speak
I like him, stubborn thick-skull man who has beliefs and he’s going to stick to them, dammit
5. TO BE DETERMINED
My partner is still carving through Patho 2, so I’m still learning more about these versions of characters. All the kids are pretty funny in their own way, but Notkin and Khan are growing on me. I forgot to mention Aspity last time, but I enjoy her brand of vitriol
TOP FIVE PATHO SHIPS
1. I am not immune to Burda propaganda
Tumblr media
I got interested in Patho because I wondered offhand if ship art of these two healers existed, so I was already off to a fantastic start
I already had a tendency to favor pairings with opposite rival characters that work well together, so REALLY, I was no match, it was inevitable
2. That’s it, there’s no more 😞
I’m one of those annoying people that fixate on one pairing and won’t shut up about it, so that’s all you’ll get out of me
THOUGH, I am 100 percent open to other pairings of other characters if the reasoning behind it is compelling or interesting enough (I’ve seen Andrey & Grief, Andrey & Vlad Jr. and Rubin & Grief and those are fascinating from an outsiders perspective)
TOP FIVE PATHO CHARACTER DESIGNS
1. Patho 1 Rubin
Tumblr media
I LOVE PATHO 1 RUBIN DESIGN SO MUCH, THE LEATHER DADDY LOOK IS SO GOOD FOR HIM, and compared to his stoic, straightforward, no nonsense attitude, it’s just SO FUNNY
I have a theory that he would make a really good fashion model, but I’m waiting to have a proper doodle dump before I drop that on everyone
The Patho 2 redesign was such a nerf, I will never forgive them
2. Patho 2 Artemy
Tumblr media
I like his green smock! And I love the leather shoulder bits, the straps, the big kangaroo pouch, the thigh pouches, his hood and the fashionable boots
I enjoy coloring this outfit, it’s functional and not too much
3. Patho 2 Daniil
Tumblr media
This outfit inspires the urge to grab him by the scruff and shake him. Normally I’m a stickler for accuracy, but I refuse to draw his stupid asymmetrical coat collars. WHY TAKE THE MOST FASHIONBLE PART OF THE COAT AND DO IT LIKE THAT? I’m also not the biggest fan of his shoes, but I’m biased because I love drawing dress shoes. I do not enjoy coloring his outfit, the amount of layers I have to use is ridiculous
I do like the little half-cape thing though, that’s very fashionable, and his STUPID LIL SNAKE BELT BUCKLE
Tumblr media
I will say, the fact that his outfit is so extra and infuriating to some extent is perfect for the little hiss hiss, so quality design from me
4. Patho 2 Notkin
Tumblr media
I like his outfit a lot, there’s sort of a punk(?) quality to it
He very much crafted a look for himself with whatever he could get his hands on, and he made it work. I would wear this
5. Patho 1 Anna Angel
Tumblr media
WHAT AN OUTFIT, look at those gold and red accents and those thigh high boots, the DRAMA
This is so high fashion, I can easily see this on a modern runway
The Patho 2 redesign was also a disappointment I can’t forgive
6. I have to mention Patho 2 Andrey
Tumblr media
They fact they kept him mostly the same except they took his shirt off was such a bold design choice, I am 100 percent onboard with this
OKAY I’M DONE, I hope that answers some questions

any thoughts on like older clara also i adore all your older kids designs you put so much love in your work i’d just die to have as rich of an artistic cannon as yours one day (´▽`ʃƪ )♡
okay hope u r having a real nice day bye ( ≧∇≦ )/ ♡
hiiii bestie i love to think about older clara ok so basically some kids i see as growing up to have like Actual Jobs (as you've seen in the Pots such as Notkin [whatever] Dandy [mail guy] Catnip [mail girl, butler, now she picks up boxes] Capella [mistress/diplomat/head of the Entreprise alongside her cringefail brother] and some i think like. stay ""technically"" unemployed, or what they do does not not bring riches or whatnot, they survive/live through their relationships, their bonds, through hobbies that can be used as bartering... typically, Grace stays the gravekeeper -> she is not paid, it is just an important ritualistic + spiritual + almost-religious place that she needs not be paid for because she'll be provided by others; i think murky fits that too like she once roamed the steppe, as an adult she also roams the steppe just longer + the herbs she gathers she can bring to burakh but like. not paid for this. like it's like the herb brides right they're not Employed. but they're not unemployed. they have something to do, they have a religious + spiritual + community-building place... right...
anyways all that ^ to say i think clara when she grows older fist in that category. just because she didn't get her way with the plague and the survival of the town doesn't mean she feels like god forsook her completely - i think she might have lost her faith for a while after the plague, but in the 5 years after that she regained her. she's anchored in the town, and when other girls/women bound to the mystical as she is have like... carried on living... in a town fundamentally changed, she can carry on living. wether or not she believes herself to be saintly still, i think she gravitates towards the sick, the dying, even the dead (i think her and grace hang out). i think she might hang out burakh's place to try to give her holy services to the sick and burakh would be like do Not. put your hands on my patients. you go to the corner and you can pray. i think she hangs out with the other kids [now grown] who simply by virtue of like. knowing how it is. kinda feed her and give her drinks. she's like a martyred saint having made vow of poverty and living through the good will of the people and everyone around is like "it's not that serious sister". she does prophecies and predictions, people might pay her in food... kind of like Aspity did in p2 of people coming to ask but they feel inclined to feed that poor girl... modern-day[not modern but you get it] prophetess

I just started the Changeling’s route the other day, and by day 3 we already get SO many delicious insights into the hearts of the Town’s women, especially Eva (but more on that in a minute).
first of all - damn, Lara, didn’t realize you had it in for Daniil so early on!
Tumblr media
and then of course we’ve already got Aspity simping for Artemy on just day 2
Tumblr media
but day 3 is where things get real juicy in regards to Eva’s feelings about the Bachelor. Yulia entertaining the idea of Daniil being a demon (maybe even an incubus??) was esp humorous, tho I have a feeling she’s being a bit coy - and jealous, even - here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then we get to this conversation... my god. we know she comes on strong to Danill in the Bachelor’s route, with him being half-oblivious to her advances, but the Changeling’s route really expounds on her complete devotion to him and his cause.
Tumblr media
Eva, you poor thing, he only has eyes for one dingy, blood-stained, grumpy, sleep-deprived surgeon (and also the Polyhedron a bit)

I was thinking about how Artemy and Notkin, two characters who both embody the idea of utopia through interpersonal connection and connection to the earth, both have mothers who died in childbirth, and then I realized--Pathologic is rife with dead moms. And that seems... pretty significant.
(Pathologic spoilers, discussions of childbirth/mortality under the cut.)
There are the long-time orphans, like Murky, Sticky and Grace; the characters with living fathers and dead mothers, like Capella and Khan; and then Taya Tycheek, whose father dies during the events of the game, but whose mother is (I believe) never mentioned. The only living matriarchs left in the town are Katerina Saburova, who is herself unable to have children, and Aspity--who, according to the Diurnal ending, was created specifically to replace Artemy’s own mother.
And this could be written up to generic video game dead mom syndrome, but it... doesn’t feel like it is? Part of it is just reflecting the reality of a rural area with high poverty rates and poor medical care in the early 1900s, but it also feels like a thematic tie to the fundamental plot of Mother Boddho’s injury. What’s happening on a macro scale, the bleeding out of the mother of the Kin and the steppe and the earth itself, is also happening on a micro scale with each of the individual characters.
And each ending returns Artemy to the circumstances of his birth and his mother’s death. Here is Mother Boddho, bleeding out as a result of pain inflicted upon her by her child, the town. A birth gone wrong. In the Nocturnal ending, he chooses the mother; the child (the town) dies, but the mother lives to create new life, and to foster the rest of her family. In the Diurnal ending, the mother dies, and with her, wonder and possibility and incredibly important connection to lineage. But the child lives, and has an opportunity to grow and change.
I wonder if that was a choice Isador was forced to make, when Artemy was born. Life, bought with blood. If so, I wonder if Artemy knew.

Things came back in that week he spent confined to a smaller space than his loft, Dankovsky administering medicines and twyrine so his remaining organs don’t crumble under their own weight. These things that came back were... at the time, inconsequential.
Memory one: His professor stopping him before class let out, and sincerely asking him if he needed someone to talk to, because his written response in a philosophy course was about how his body was a haunted house. And it was- it is.
Memory two: He danced Odette. The steps came back to him midway through the week and he, a fool, tried to stand and follow them while sweating and shaking. To his surprise, his feet remembered better than him- he slowly made his way through the hall of Daniil’s impromptu clinic.
Memory three: The end of the week. A peak in his highs memory. Turning on the brass and silver construct he had made for Andrey and him to sleep to- something to soothe their ten year old selves in their adult bodies. It sounded like wingbeats. It spun. It was a cylinder clockwork toy with a light at the center, golden and glowing. It cast the shadows of birds on the wall. It helped the insomnia.
And it wasn’t just memories that returned, it was the cognizance of time’s passage again, and how their lease at the old apartment had run out. It’s been two years. Their art is probably gone. The toy he made is likely gone with the rest of their passions, swallowed by Nina.
So he remembered, after a week’s time, that Aspity was burnt. And came to her with a barber’s razor he still had with him, and offered to cut her hair for her.
“For helping Grace,” he explains, stirring a ceramic pot of shaving soap with a thick brush.
He looked tired, and thin.
“Poor thing. I’m fair at this. Brother and I used to cut each other’s hair.”

It’s really fun to me that Classic!Daniil’s primary fault is his own self importance. Like, no matter how considerate you play him, AND THAT IS A CANON ROUTE OF CHARACTERISATION YOU CAN TAKE, Daniil’s own pride has him frequently act on incomplete information, thereby sowing distrust, all while he considers himself above the power plays of the ruling families only to get frequently roped into doing shit for them.
More often than not, Daniil being nice is him swallowing his pride, not talking down to people, not being self absorbed, more so than it is him lacking compassion. That’s the key characteristic that trips him up.
Like, Aspity’s genuinely right to derail him into suspecting Lara instead during the quest to discover who fucked up the water purifier because the dude is so self righteous that YEAH, he probably would’ve handed the poor guy off to be jailed for a mistake.
It’s the same self righteousness that has him always characterise and react to the plague as an almighty foe for him to defeat, rather than a humanitarian crisis obliterating the local population.

God I can't wait for people who've only played Patho 2 to get to the other two healers' routes and learn that Aspity truly is a mean ol' dirt lesbian. Artemy is literally the only person alive (heh), in the town that she respects in the slightest and even then its got a kinda "Aw, poor sweet dumb idiot bitch son boy" vibe to it. She straight up tells the other two protagonists how much she hates everything about them and gleefully asks Daniil to kill himself lol what a queen.

Oooookay. Welcome back. Posting about pathologic part 4 I think? Part 4. We just reached Act 4 too, so everything’s going according to schedule. This gaming session had some ups and downs. Ups: That good good lore, and a lot of quality time spent with my good pals Daniil  and Changeling and also Clara apparently, although she might not be my good pal after all, but w/e. Downs: FUuuuUUUUCKkkk we are so bad at video games, and also the kin folk have become A Lot, holy shit. Where to start.
Okay so this time the game wasn’t actually super stressful for me personally bc this time I kind of just handed off the controls to my sister every time shit got dangerous. She’s a lot better at video games than me. Shoutout @akpaley for keeping me from dying from stress in real life.
The drawback of this is that since she’s a lot better at video games she’s also a lot more willing to actually take risks rather than just running away from literally everything. Which I won’t deny, has gotten us a lot of much-needed money and resources but also.
WELCOME TO THE FUCKING DEATH SPIRAL PART OF THE GAME. I guess it had to happen eventually, right? Fuuuuuuuck us, do you have any fucking idea how much shit you have to redo when you’re randomly shanked by some dude every fifteen minutes? And they’re harder to fight every time we come back, apparently, and also our health is like permanently half gone? Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck why are there not more clocks.
Victor Kain, you were the one who made the clocks?? I could fucking kiss you. I owe you my life. Or like, six hundred of my lives. Hhh.
Okay, seriously though, the clock lore is actually kind of sick. Victor told us that they’re smaller versions of the cathedral, and we were like “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THaT’S WHerE wE RESET THE GaME IN THe PROLOGUE!!!!!!! METAPHYSICS!!!!!!!!!” The Kains are so cool.
(Maria Kaina got infected tho. Sorry, you. :( Although technically that happens later.)
Um, we gave the rest of our shmowder to Khan. We’re out now. We’ve been looking for more but haven’t found anything.
Also we made a random potion, and the plague showed up and was like “fuck you,” and I was like “damn, calm the hell down, you’re the one fucking killing people.”
Met with the Saburovs more. They were like “we have another suspect!” and I was like “yeah they probably don’t but w/e” and my sister was like “they’re in an infected land and we should probably save their lives” and I was like “why do we care about helping the Saburovs again, literally all they do is accuse random people of killing my dad, the Kains are obviously the best family, we should just be throwing in with them” and she was like “that’s not all they do, they also run the guards, you know those guys who patrol plague districts?” and I was like “okay fuck you’re right let’s visit them” and it turns out that that there was actually some super cool lore pertaining to the town’s mistresses. Also, god if they don’t have some cool reflections. I love everything about this town’s history.
Afterwards we randomly decided to visit Yulia for literally no reason, and she was like “I’m glad you’re here, I have a lot of super heavy important shit to discuss with you about the Inquisition that will be here tomorrow, it sure is convenient that you’re in my neighborhood for some reason even though I live in an incredibly inconvenient location?” Also she knows something about the nature of Artemy, Daniil, and Clara-or maybe the Changeling but she called her Clara? Oh yeah, Daniil was there too for some reason. Poor guy, I don’t think he’s okay. He cried on my shoulder a lot, he was endearingly open and earnest and for once I felt bad about the dialogue options wherein Artemy throws shade.
And then Clara happened to be standing outside literally right then? I wonder if that was going to be a big quest location and we just happened to arrive right before the game told us to go there anyway. I think that’s it actually. We’re so good, damn. Clara keeps pulling shit and then immediately trying to reconcile and asking for help. I really like her, but we really shouldn’t be trusting her right?
Oh Murky was also there and she set up a meeting between us and her “friend” and that night we went and Clara and Changeling were both there and I’m so confused???? What is her deal? But!! Changeling facilitated a deal between me and the plague! And Murky is now off the hit list!!!!!!!!!! Does this mean she’ll live? Anyway the plague started talking to us, and our infection rose a bit in an unhealable way, and, dumbasses that we were, said “wow this is probably all just the natural consequence of the bargain we made. Guess there’s literally nothing we can do to address this.” (Spoiler: That is not the case, the cost of the pact was literally just that we became infected and would have to cure it with fire before it killed us. We figured that out eventually, I promise.)
Fast forward to the next day after we finish the day’s entire fucking plotline, when we have done literally nothing so our infection’s increased a shit ton and it starts actually killing us. And since we only have like half our potential health bar from getting killed so much, we literally can’t survive long enough to treat it. We run around trying to cure ourselves and die like ten more times before we finally accept that we just have to go back in time to before the infection was this bad, try to get cured immediately, and redo the whole day. There’s a whole fucking skeleton out by the theatre by now btw. Fucking death spirals. This play session took a long fucking time okay?
Alright, flash backward again. After talking with Changeling, we visit Stakh because after rescuing him twice in a row he promised we could talk. We go to his house and he’s sleeping, or maybe just pretending to sleep, but either way Artemy has the absolute sweetest little monologue, just talking to him, and so much has happened but I can tell there’s still a lot of tenderness there between them even if it’s buried deep, and it’s just such a soft scene against such a harsh story.
Guess who’s dead by morning.
The next day Aglaya showed up and was like “see me immediately,” so obviously we visit Capella and then town hall first off. Daniil’s there, he bitches to me about Aglaya for a bit. So cute, we really are friends. I promise to help him with corpse duty bc Capella wanted me to visit Grace anyway. We talk to the official people at the official desks, one is collecting babies, one is giving me some lunch money as a very good reward for being a very good little surgeon, and one is telling me that actually money is illegal now but here are some free coupons that actually are too cheap to buy anything with.
Aglaya is the woman from the prologue! Hhhh things are really building to a point, aren’t they. I wonder how Yulia knows her. But damn, the whole village was out there waiting to meet with her weren’t they.
I made a deal with the rat prophet to clear some space in the graveyard so Grace would be okay. Dunno what will come of that. I’ve been seeing him everywhere lately though.
I met with Oyun and gave him my dad’s house. I met with Aspity and was like “did you kill Stakh” and she gave me some vague shit, and in general I am very upset at the kinfolk right now but I tried to save them anyway. Went to the termitary and did the whole termitary thing. Wow that sure is a place, right? God, have I ever mentioned how much I love all the screaming soundtracks  in this game.
Damn, Taya’s whole child queen vibe is unsettling.
The whole termitary is horrible, and what the kin folk have been put through is horrible, but their obsession with blood and strength legit terrifies me. I’ve spent all my time until now trying to convince everyone that they aren’t bad, and that they aren’t to blame for the disease, but now they want to kill? And they really really really want me to be a killer too. And the whole thing with Taya is creepy as fuck too, she’s just a kid. Anyway, we’re sending Vlad the older to them, I don’t know whether he or his son deserves to be torn apart more, but Changeling was really upset at the idea of Vlad the younger going there, so I guess we’re backing her. We run all around town making sure the right Olgimsky is going, and then we realize we actually have a few hours left so we take a hospital shift too! And then we die of disease like six times.
Okay, flash forward again, we’ve gone back, gotten some guy to molotov cocktail us, redone the entire termitary thing, saved the game on Vlad’s clock after sending him to his doom (sorry dude). That’s where we’re at currently.
(Only it’s not actually, we went back and spent like an hour going back and forth between the termitary and Oyun again trying to deal with their shit, and everyone was like “murder all dissenters :D” and I was like “what the fuck” and the day was almost over but then a dude stabbed us and we randomly died, and none of these places had clocks, so at that point we were basically like “yeah it’s after midnight, let’s just call it quits.”)
Anything else......oh, the warehouses are at risk again. Notkin and Sticky, what would I do if anything happened to them. I hope my medicines are good enough, I gave some to Bad Grief too but now all there really is to do is wait. :(
Oh, I once again have thoughts on how fucking theatrical is it that everything in the game is simultaneously literal and metaphorical, it’s gorgeous, and have I mentioned the costuming choices for the Orderlies and the Plague, hhhhhhhh, not to say anything nice about Mark fucking Immortell, but he knows what he’s doing with this thing. Listen if this post weren’t already way too long I would just gush about the theatrical elements again, but sadly it is too long.
Okay, that was our latest session! We’ll be back either very soon or in like three weeks.

Pls I want to hear some of that "cringe" patho dishonored au pls (in words if you can!)
i will try for you!! i admit i don’t really have much like “planned out” but i have some scattered Thoughts!!
the Usual Thing happens: artemy, a surgeon and an herbalist, returns home to help his father with the plague, his father was murdered just before he arrived, and so was simon kain (would the kains be an emperor family in this kind of au or would they just be City Rulers as usual? not sure yet), and artemy is now blamed for both murders, beat and stabbed half to death, and thrown in prison to be executed, and so begins artemy burakh’s No Good, Very Bad... Month
daniil dankovsky, local cryptid also known as The Outsider (though he resents that name) gives artemy void powers (blink, whirlwind, and bend time) which lets artemy escape the prison (not without having to kill a few guards on his way out but eh, guards are just cops so it’s fine. morally i mean, for artemy it sucks. poor guy keeps having to murder even though he doesn’t want to)
in the sewers during his escape, artemy meets a teenager called clara the changeling who says it’s important that he survives and offers her help. already in a bad place, artemy accepts and gets plague magic (rat swarm, darkvision, and possession).
in return he asks if she wants out of the sewers (”what are you even doing down here?!” “just hanging out.”) bc there are rats and rats are dangerous and she just stares at him dead in the eye as she jumps down among a swarm of rats (same one that he saw eat a whole grown guard a few minutes ago) but the rats just follow her like ducklings
after a few hours of navigating through the confusing sewers, artemy finally reaches the river by the edge of the city (would have to be the City-On-Gorkhon this time with lots of tall buildings. the stamatins must be very pleased) and he follows the shore, trying to remember the way to the warehouses, but collapses before he can reach it because of exhaustion and also his mostly untended wounds. can’t decide if it’s gonna be murky, sticky, or one of the Halves that finds him and helps him? would be nice if sticky tries to use his, albeit limited, medicinal knowledge which does end up being enough to get artemy back on his feet, at least for a while
after that i only know that artemy would meet both notkin’s gang and grief’s gang, who both ally themselves with him. in this au lara and grief are still on decent terms if only bc they both find they don’t like the current rulers (maybe block is affiliated with them now?) and then it’s not so bad that grief is playing against their laws
i’m thinking maybe stakh joins the overseers and there’s like. an actual confrontation between artemy and stakh where stakh really does try to kill artemy. like he doesn’t and they become friends again. without a daniil to calm him down i do think it’s possible stakh would try something like that, but i think it’s more out of self-destruction and his “resolve for resolve’s sake” way of thinking if that makes sense?
lots of apple basket gang interaction. yes i will use any excuse to have more apple basket gang. i also just really love the idea of lara and grief having a really close friendship so that would be part of it
georgiy “eugenics enthusiast” kain  and the vlads Will die. perhaps not by artemy’s hand directly but it will happen because i hate them and they deserve it
more of aspity. maybe just more of the Kin in general! i’m not sure what their role would be exactly but you know they would be up for overthrowing a fucking emperor of all things.
aspity when she first meets artemy: so you killed the emperor? artemy: i did n- aspity: nice. do you want to kill another? artemy: ... i mean. maybe??? i have a plague to stop and a murder to investigate but maybe???
is there a polyhedron in this? probably. not sure what role it would play but it Sure Would Be There
that’s about it that i’ve got so far tho!! thank you for the ask!

gonna be predictable and ask your Eva Yan takes
For this meme:
I love talking about Eva! ^^ Thank you so much!
How I feel about this character: I love her so much! Especially in Patho Classic and the Bachelor Route she is so amazing! I love how they manage to subvert tropes with her and she is such a nice and compelling character while not being only nice girl and having her own motives and worldview and I live for it!
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Eva/Andrey: I mean this one is kind of a no-brainer: I still love the “We need someone who is deaf and dumb but don’t worry, I know a man!” It’s just so funny and affectionate and they are a really nice and lively combination. Andrey sure could use someone who appreciates people and can talk him out of things, but Andrey is also very lively and headstrong and caring. It’s cute! Eva/Yulia: I talked already about this one right here. But they are so tender and loving and also tragic as hell. The way they can benefit from each others worldview is nice and their whole idea on the self and self-sacrifice specifically really intriguing. Also Eva’s description of Yulia is the cutest thing ever and I adore them! Eva/Lara: They are both very selfless and caring but so different in their approach. It feels even more like two different worlds clashing than with Yulia, because Lara is less theoretical and more about practical care, while Eva kind of represents the opposite. But they’re both looking for their own path in life and haven’t found it yet and I think that could lead to some really interesting development. Also both could use someone caring about them in a way they’re not used to.  Eva/Aspity: Oh yes, this one would need some fucking work in both games! But that’s exactly what make it appealing for me, it could be an amazing slowburn with a lot of communication, changing worldviews and subtle interaction. Eva/Maria: Okay, for this one we really need to think, that Maria definitely didn’t convince Eva to commit suicide. (Or invent a really convoluted, tragic and sympathetic reason, like genuinely thinking that it would preserve her soul while her odds of dying are really huge or something. But mainly... yeah, let’s cut that one out.) This time they share their worldview and differ in action and it could be a really interesting couple by dynamic alone. Having someone nice and dear to Maria is cool and contrasting Eva’s worldview with her love for the also more sketchy side is fun (and definitely accurate.) And there is some really nice atmosphere to be found here.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I would have to go With Eva+Daniil. Sorry, Daniil is absolutely gay in my book, but they still have an interesting dynamic and I do believe that they care about each other. Also it’s just very tragic, which makes it extra fun by default. I love that Eva is kind of projecting and also caring about the Bachelor but also doing her own thing? And I also love the mix of caring and not really getting Eva and dismissing a lot of her thoughts. It’s a struggle between them but an interesting one and one, that I think could clearly be sorted out, if times wouldn’t be this dire and stressful. They would make for really cute best friends and I can see them trusting and talking openly with each other.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Sometimes Eva is portrayed either only as nice girl or afraid girl in the canon and I find that a bit bothersome. But I wouldn’t call that exactly unpopular and I only see it in fic specifically and not that often in discussion. I sometimes feel like people play up her being lost a lot? Like, she still has her own ideas about the world and can be pretty headstrong and scheming and I love that about her! She is the one who considers fleeing the town for example and is pretty adamant about it. She’s not really a passive character, at least in the Bachelor route of Patho Classic. But that too I wouldn’t call unpopular. Just some small thoughts that I don’t see a lot and I’m actually not sure how people think about that.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I am one of the few people who think it’s really cool, that we cannot prevent her suicide. I am still a bit confused why it doesn’t happen in any other route though. (To have another bound member to potentially be ill?), but maybe I missed something there. (Here is an idiot playing the game blind and not getting all of the side quests.)  I mean, in Patho 2 I would just love to have more interactions with her at all! The way she is in there is not very defined and... a bit sketchy to say the least and I while being a bit anxious I really would love to learn more about Eva’s concept in Patho 2, because I think we only caught glimpses and not all of them are bad (I love the dream sequence and how she explains the most detail). I hope we will get a bit closer to her depiction in Patho Classic in the sense, that we do not only see her afraid and/or appropriating other cultures... Not the best look and I hope they add more to her or work something out there.
My OTP: That’s a hard decision between Eva/Yulia and Eva/Andrey. Both are very different and very compelling... I guess Eva/Andrey takes it for me, but only because I need something more fluffy once in a while, but it’s a really close one.
My OT3: I don’t have a lot of OT3... But polyamorous relationships sure fit Eva.. I could see Eva/Lara/Yulia and I’m trying to sort out if Eva/Andrey/Maria could work out. Sadly I think poor Andrey would just get thrown around by the ladies, so Eva/Lara/Yulia it is!

ok, here i am with the hellscape that was pathologic 2 day 4, which happened twice
so initially, i’m standing in the broken heart pub, next to the clock, waiting for the sun to come up so that things can get moving again (and i can stop starving)
once dawn arrives, i head over to the town hall, demoralised at the steady increase of my hunger and exhaustion
i arrive and save again (an important plot point which i will be grateful for later) before chatting to dankovsky and the woman who asked me if i had a baby, which i most certainly didn’t
i then went to speak to the man who is running the fund and he gave me my things, which may have been the single most momentous moment of relief i had felt ever: i had food!!! which meant i could sleep!!
so, day four proceeds, i do menial tasks, i get toyed around by saburov, i pretty concisely doom notkin, i have a dilemma about what i should do with the potentially infected water barrels, i sabotage myself by trying to cure a patient in the theatre, thereby preventing myself from fully administering painkillers and completing the day’s fund task, the usual downhill ride into despair once more
at some point during this, nearing the end of the day, after being pursued to aspity’s hospice by four angry men and having sky-high levels of hunger and exhaustion, i die while trying to enter the factory (poor murky was outside)
so this version of day four is bad and i am very much angry while i have a chat with one of the stagehands at the theatre about a rat of all things
thus i believed that going back to the last point at which i felt safe was the best plan of action
cue next scene in which the haruspex tries again to survive day four

Aspity: I wonder, are female Inquisitors allowed to sleep with men? I can't help imagining how she looks stripped of cover. Is she just as self-assured? I sure would respect anyone who could tame her.
*
Aspity: Go ahead and interrogate Lara the angel. As for me, I'm done here! I'm hungry myself. It's a pity that I won't see you drive the poor poor sufferer into a corner. Oh how I hate this tender dove type! If only I could sink my teeth into her slender white neck! (...)  Somehow she stocked up on water in advance, if only for a few people... Somehow she avoided having an isolation ward in her very house... So many coincidences, wouldn't you agree? But oh how naïve she looks, how tender the voice, how inviting the little vein on the neck...
all the local bitches, huh sahba
