Tumblr media
here she is!

my sibling and I found her in the garden, against our front porch. we knew we couldn't let her stay there, so we caught her and brought her inside until we figured out what to do with her.
at first we thought that I'd kill her and keep her as a specimen in my bug collection, but the more I researched how to preserve black widows, the more I realized that I just...didn't want to do that.
so I decided to keep her as a pet! that way I can enjoy having her around, without her being a hazard out in the garden.

(left is the bottle we put her in when we first caught her; right is the bigger jar she's in now)
she's so cool! I love watching her wrap up her prey before eating it, I love watching her carefully walk around her habitat, I just...love everything about her!
as for safety, I don't ever handle her, or put myself in a position where that would happen by accident. I open her jar to give her fresh air and to feed her, but otherwise it stays closed, and I have no contact with her whatsoever.
if you'd like to learn more about keeping black widow spiders as pets, this video is a good one! you can tell that the guy who made it is just as excited about black widows as I am.
@freakattack replied to your post “Which one of these things do you think I'm lying...”:

I’m so bad at coming up with names for things but I wonder if there’s a word for when you sing or play with an ensemble and the fullness and quality and pureness of the sound just lifts and fills your soul and it’s like a sigh of relief

Hi there! I am grandly upset about various things that are happening right now (shocking I know) and am hoping to contact someone about it. But right now I'm a university student and I'm not sure if it's more effective to talk to my MPP at school (NDP b/c university town) or where I grew up (PC). Do you know what's more useful? Thanks!! (and thanks again for runing this blog it's fantastic)
You should contact the MPP where you currently live (or live most of the time) as they represent you and everyone else in that region. You could also contact that other MPP, but I’d give priority to where you live now.
Its also possible to contact your MPP plus Doug Ford and the Cabinet Ministers. So I would contact multiple people.
