hi!! the pundit!jenson/driver!seb idea has me obsessed, i cannot stop thinking about it *crying emoji* i need to know everything!!

i don’t wanna give too much of the plot away but ofc!!!!!

i already mentioned that jenson was never an f1 driver but he still tried!! he raced all the way up to 2000 (right before he entered f1) and had to stop

so officially the story will take place in 2012, the year after seb’s first championship

it’s jenson’s first year actually covering f1 though! sticking to motogp and the lower levels like formula renault for comfort reasons

he’s still friends w mark and i mention pretty early on that mark is the person who persuaded him to come to f1

pundit!jenson obviously still has a lot of knowledge about the sport first hand, especially what it’s liking growing up surrounded by it and not quite making it to the top

for those reasons his insight seems to make him more likeable than other pundits/reporters bc of experience

and we’ve all seen jenson, who doesn’t love his cheekiness and humour in interviews

bc of his personality and connection w mark he gets close to the main members of the grid, or at least familiar w them

im kinda new to f1 so i can’t guarantee that the terminology will be any accurate but here’s what will be: jenson still comes up w the britney nickname lol

(he means it affectionately)

okay now about sebson

obviously jenson’s heard about him before bc of mark’s complaining and you know, him winning a championship

but they’ve never actually met and bc of jenson’s slight aversion to the sport before the story takes place, he didn’t know what he looked like

but they meet and jenson doesn’t realize but he’s immediately entranced

seb can keep up w his humour and man what’s more important than that

they don’t interact too much in the beginning

but you know, seb enjoys jenson’s interviews along w the rest of the paddock so they get pretty comfortable w each other

uhhh then plot happens (dm me and i can tell you lol)

also most of the story will be from jenson’s pov

some side plots!!!!

after they become friends, seb will watch jenson’s interviews just to hear his voice

mark had a karting bday party that year and invited some of the grid— jenson beat half of them

(the reason that jenson stopped racing isn’t public knowledge so they kinda just thought it was bc he was bad lol)

the media starts including jenson when talking about the grid out of habit (at least when they’re talking about non-racing related topics)

jenson parties w mark and fernando the most (bc ofc he would) but never drinks too much (ooc but related to plot lol!)

uhh yeah i can’t think of anything else rn and i don’t wanna share too much publicly but yeah!!!!

The impact of a water bottle hitting his head and then being placed in front of him is Mark’s way of bringing attention to his return. “Drink up,” he says. No explanation is needed beyond that. Mark’s way of showing Jenson he cares is like this. No big gestures that would be picked up by the public, open for anyone to see. Jenson gets it, it makes Mark uncomfortable. But man does he like making Mark uncomfortable. “Aww for little old me? You do care!” Jenson makes a show of placing his hand over his heart, receiving another smack on the head, “Jeez, mate. No need to be so violent. You could’ve given me a concussion.” “Maybe it’ll make you smarter,” Jenson decides against pointing out that the opposite would be more likely to happen, just throwing a grin at Seb and rolling his eyes. He then promptly cracks the seal and chugs half of the bottle.

who falls first and who falls harder

question about engineer!jenson au

am i correct understanding jenson falls first and harder?

for some reason i can always see jenson falling first and harder— he just gives off that vibe

but for pundit!jenson au, jenson falls first, but seb def falls harder and not in a naive way, he falls for jenson the more and more he learns about him

for engineer!seb au, obv jenson falls harder, but i think they both kinda fell at the same time

seb found jenson’s stupidity endearing and jenson fell for seb’s beauty bc young seb was gorgeous

and then they meet again after their first meeting and both of them fell into each other’s orbit naturally and fell as the season progressed

but yeah jenson just loves w his entire heart and soul

seb does too, but i find it easier to write from jenson’s pov so ill have to explore seb’s pov to figure it out. we’ll see how my mind works in the future lol

i’ve been writing that it takes place in 2011! but honestly i’m trying to keep the timeline kinda vague just bc i don’t want to include too many real life details haha

oh 2011 season is such an interesting time to write about!

like the real 2011 season ended with jenson being second in the championship, being the only other driver with a mathematical chance at winning going to the japan gp, i think. wild time

so i think many real life details will not even be needed without jenson on the grid. im loving your fic already bcz the buttefly effect is insane, its going to be so fun to read

also quite a few great drives from seb in this season so jenson commenting all that will certainly be one hell of a read

ahh i’m happy that you’re interested! lots of great personalities to include in the 2011 season so i’ll have to see how many i can slip in haha

i think one of the best things about the wag!aus is how much you can experiment with actual race outcomes in these setups

take pundit!jenson

who drove for all those teams jense did instead of him? were they more successful than him? less? the same? who won in hungary in 2006? who won the championship in 2009? was it seb who was the runner-up? did he become the youngest champion a year early? who's runner-up instead of jenson in 2011, is it mark? who wins all those races that seb almost won if not for jenson (like canada 2011)? there's so much to do here!!!

or take engineer!seb

who drives for red bull instead of seb? are they successful? did mark bring red bull their first victory? did mark win more races? did mark win a championship? who won in 2010? does jenson win in 2011? does fernando finally win his third championship in 2012? there's so much to theorize here!!

yes it’s so interesting and fun to theorize about what might’ve happened!

for the pundit!jenson au i actually haven’t decided about whether ill write someone to just take jenson’s place or whether just take him out, move everyone up the standings, and place someone else at the bottom lol

but for championships, seb still wins his first one in 2010, barricello wins in 2009 for brawn, so that year is still legendary (just without jenson 🥲). for the rest, i guess you’ll have to wait and see 🤪

for the engineer!seb au, man this would be so fun to write. for red bull, maybe mark does win at least one championship, or maybe there’s another child prodigy that takes seb’s place, preventing mark from winning even in this au. or maybe (if we’re in a world without homophobia, why not be free of sexism as well) maybe britta is red bull’s driver, or even susie, setting records and beating everyone on track

oh yeah all of the mechanics are invested. bets are placed (britta wins the bet)

she nails it down to the day, jensons first mechanic is the closest one, getting the week right. mark and david will tell off jenson for making them lose at least five times in the next two years

maybe she can be jenson’s engineer? or kimi’s pr manager— anywhere where she has to interact w seb daily. they’re def work-besties. britta has to deal w seb’s complaining and pining for sure

britta and seb being work besties is something that can be so important to me. she's not jensons pr so whatever is happening there is not her circus, but these are her monkeys so poor woman goes through a lot

i think jenson— he’ll be too fed up with “hiding” his feelings (but he’s not really hiding them from anyone) and will just flat out say it

seb will be flustered and not even realize jenson’s being serious (he thinks it’s a joke) and but jenson’s whole face is red bc he’s blushing too much and sebs like — oh. this is really happening

if seb were to break first i think it would be an accident. he fears too much about the implications that it could have on their jobs (he’s the brain of the relationship obviously)

after revealing his feelings he doesn’t run, just covers his face w his hands bc he’s embarrassed

and he’s trying to stutter out apologies through his hands and it’s muffled and this is the first time jenson has seen seb lose his composure

jenson gently pries sebs hands away from his face and he’s just staring with the biggest heart eyes ever bc he finds the blush on seb so adorable

and he’s forgetting to talk but seb has shut up too and is looking up at jenson, a little scared, but he sees the way he’s staring and has a little bit of hope

if its 2010, then seb during the season is like 22-23 (my baby remains a progidy, even if he is not driving, and made it to the f1 engineering team when he's literally a baby! we love to see it!!), jenson is 30 so yeah, this could be fun

then, if its 2009, then kimi obviously didnt retire after 2009 (which was a very slay thing to do, he went off to do rallying and was frankly an icon) and fernando didnt take his seat. does this mean ferrari pushed massa out three years early?.. hmm, scandalous

sebson au but jenson is a former driver turned pundit and seb is team principal turned f1 director or fia president

ooooh this is so interesting bc it can take so many different approaches

1.

jenson and seb didn’t really have any interactions as they were both in their first jobs, knowing of each other but not working directly w each other

2.

seb lowkey hated jenson as a driver bc he was always in competition w seb’s drivers & team

or 3.

jenson WAS seb’s driver for a bit (and jenson didn’t really know how to act w his team principle being sm younger than him) they would’ve been awkward coworkers at best in the beginning

then maybe as time goes on, you know, seb gets promoted, jenson retires, etc etc

and jenson makes a comeback after a few years away from the sport as a pundit

he has great insight and seb can’t deny that he’s a great addition to the core media employees

if seb knew him before, he can’t say he’s surprised, but he may be surprised at how he isn’t as annoyed at jenson anymore

if seb didn’t know him before, he’s definitely intrigued by jenson— how does he understand this sport to a degree much more profound that many of the people working here for so long??

hmm i’m not sure how their first meeting would go either…

potentially smt like jenson has a one-on-one interview w him bc of a rule change (that benefits the less rich teams) and seb is fully expecting the interviewer to make fun of his authority, or to think his idea is stupid
