31 Days Rammstein Challenge - Day 30: Favourite Ship

When someone asks me about what my favourite Rammstein ship is, my standard answer is friendship. For me, that's one of the things that make Rammstein so special. They have stuck together for not just the duration of the band, but from long before that.

The majority of the band members have played in Rammstein for more than half of their lives. Some of them have played together in bands for close to 40 years. And still, they seem to have enjoy each other's company and have fun together on stage.

To illustrate this, I have picked the five photos Richard Z. Kruspe posted on his Instagram last June, with the following captions (inspired by Placebo's song Pure Morning):

I've mentioned before that I haven't seen a lot of live content other than through gifs, so my pool to pick from isn't massive, but I'm going to go with Paul & Richard's last hug/smooch of the NA tour 2022.

Like the amount of love is unreal and the tightness of the hug makes me want to sob and the kiss is the gayest fucking thing I've ever seen and Reesh's face tears me apart to my most basic atoms and I can't stand it I can't stand them FUCK brb going to the bathroom to sob and throw up for ten full hours

30 day idol challenge - 13. holding hands

Title says it all (trying post again, because the previous didn't show up), gifs mostly by @mrsfitzgerald at one time or another

This is a pretty early one (post by freches-fruechtchen-blog ), when Rammstein used the small stage and bridge to and from, Richard usually tried to be the last walking back, but this time Paul didn't let him and they did a bit of "you go -no, you go - no, you go" ending with both of them holding hands and walking off together 🥰

in 2022 they were more used to walking to and from main stage, this time Paul waited especially so they could walk back together 🥰

Then there was the one (Nijmegen 2022, post by @mrsfitzgerald ) where Paul helped Richard get up after the final salut and they didn't want to let go, resulting in:

Coventry 2022 (post by @mrsfitzgerald ), again holding hands at the bows, not wanting to let go (this too ending in a hug 🥰)

We were very spoiled with the handholding in 2022, but it did happen before that on occassion, see this post by @mrsfitzgerald ) Paul grabbing Richard's arm (and a feel of his belly, while his hand was lingering there anyway 🥰)

a quick little nudge behind the guitars so no one would see

and grabbing hands in passing

which we saw again in 2019 (again a post by @mrsfitzgerald )

but my favorite one is this, from Barcelona 2019, when they were waving to the audience, when Richard's hand finds Paul's in mid air and grabs it, rewarded with a squeeze in return 🥰

Day 10 - favorite live photo

They have so many, I absolutely love Jens’ pictures and I think especially he has the ability to capture the band just the right way onstage. But instead of bombing almost every photo from their insta here, I’ll pick this one.

I love absolutely everything about this photo. Their smiles, the smoke, the lightning, the atmosphere. It’s in my top three R+ pictures ever taken, even tops the famous Paulchard kiss-pic(s). ❤️

DAY #15: 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

ugh this is gonna be hard for most without going back through their entire discography, but I'm gonna try me best here. I want to point out that I have always, since getting into rock and metal as a middle schooler, been deeply more prone to recognizing and remembering guitar work and obviously the vocals; it's not a conscious choice, it's just what my brain does, but it does make this a much more difficult question for every single thing besides guitar. So, I'll start with guitar!

(Cut here bc I'm sure this post is gonna be long and yucky formatting-wise)

So my mind could possibly change if I listened to everything again, however I am pretty fucking confident in that for guitar, it's "Mutter." More than anything else, it's that fucking refrain; it sounds entirely overflowing with wrenching pain and sorrow to me, and I cannot BELIEVE Reesh has said he wrote that shit for a wedding, like bitch it makes me want to cry without vocal assistance to set the vibe, holy fucking shit who died at that wedding??????????????? It will regularly give me goosebumps when I listen to the song.

Okay, second-easiest (I think, lol). For Flake's keyboard work, I'm a BIG fat lover of his performance in "Weit weg." I adore synthwave-style musical works, and this sound is just so classic and really does it for me. I think it also helps that I recently binged it for like, a full day for no reason other than it was stuck in my head real bad lmfao

All right, next one: bass. This is one of those more difficult ones, because I think like a great number of people, the bass is astronomically harder to single out in heavier music, unless it's basically the only thing playing (which we stan hard as fuck I wanna hear my Boy), and because of this, I took the time to listen to some bass covers of various tracks to have the sound singled out more, and now, I think I'm going with "Stripped." It's a head-bobber to me!

... aaaaand the hardest: drums. I want to scream from the fucking rooftops that this is no disrespect or disregard for Schneider, he is a vital member of the band that I adore, and drums are so instrumental in establishing the beat of songs, it's just that this is the one instrument that for some reason, my brain doesn't seem to latch onto and remember when I think of the song? It's completely indeliberate, I hear it and it just slides off my smooth-ass brain. 😭 I hate it because I love our dilf drummer so very much, so like this makes me feel so rude and as if I don't care for his part in the band, which couldn't be further from accurate; I reiterate, he's vital, as much as everyone else. All that being said, this is the instrument I am least confident about when picking a favorite, but like for Ollie, I visited a big chunk of songs that made me think "wait I think the drum performance is strong here," so take this one with the biggest grain of salt: I think I'm going with "Eifersucht." I like the fast pace of the drum in this one, and it's super rhythmic, and that's... all my non-drum-intellectual ass has got, lol. I'm that kid critiquing shit they don't know about right now.

Maybe some of you figured this post would be about the Ausländer kissing, but i'm going with something else.

Something imo much more intimate, something they have been doing for years now, that seems pleasantly comforting to them both, something they do even when the spotlight isn't on them..

But there is more. If Till was able to get down on his knees on stage to play puppy, there is notably a deeper meaning regarding the final salute. It's Till's initiative that the guys kneel down in front of us, the audience at the end of each show. And while all the guys do it, some of them don't appreciate it. Flake says about this : "I always scold Till when he is too kind. (Laughs) I don’t want to play in a band that begs for applause either. I find that disgusting, I have to break it. I also think the bowing at the end is stupid. These fans clap when they want to, so I don’t have to take an extra bow." (MetalHammer). I absolutely disagree with Flake on this because for me if Till gets down on his knees it's to show how grateful he is to us, that's his way of expressing what he feels without saying a word : he loves us.

Day 27: Favorite Pre-Rammstein Photo

A long, long time ago, I used to be in bands with some of my friends in high school. We were never successful; heck, we never played anywhere other than the basement that was our "practice space," but it was some of the most fun I ever had.

And for some reason, those feelings resurface whenever I see pictures of Feeling B. Something about those days always struck me as special.

Honorable mention goes to Richard and Till. I always forget that the members of Rammstein have lived together at different points in time, but I always found the evidence to be kind of cute.

Paul's editon

Say twelve - favorite stage outfit. Well, this is very hard, he had so many amazing outfits throughout Rammstein history.

Number one is and always will be his lederhosen outfit. Paul was born to wear it, and I bet he really enjoys it. He looks amazing in it, both on stage and in Dicke Titten video.

Ehm... Do I need to write anything? This outfit was a gift to everyone. And I am forever grateful for that.

Number three is his red shiny jumpsuit. He looked so stunning in it, especially when he unbuttoned it a bit and let his chest peak a bit. I was sad that he did not use it more last tour. Now, this outfit is in Rammstein shop and he will have a new stage outfit this year.
