making things how you like it is something bin takes pride in. whether it be one of his baked goods, morning coffee, how clothes are folded, how appliances are organized,,, although his love language is words of affirmation, his way of showing his appreciation for you is through acts of service, regardless of what you are to him.

kept promises make his head spin. the simple gesture of someone being able to process, then pursue, and remember. especially when it comes from you does it mean most to him. that one minor act can make his entire opinion of a person change.

choi yeonjun - call me by rangga jones

you know you can ask him anything and everything. he knows you strong, trust me, but he needs you to remember that you can call him, text him, go to his house if you ever feel lonely. you trusting him to take care of you is all he wants.

reminiscing on the past is an often occurrence with jjun. you know that yeonjun deep down is one of the softest, most affectionate people someone could ever meet. he loves talking about the things he loves about you, experiences you've had together, even stories of his life before you met him. if you're able to do this with him, he's ready to tie the knot.

listening and taking care of him. yeonjun gets in his head about everything. one small mistake can plague his mind for days on end, and he never knows what he wants someone to tell him. but somehow, your response is always the thing that lets him push it to the back of his head.

im sorry hes so perfect for this song-

quiet moments with him are moments he cherishes. small memories that stay in his mind until he's old. these moments can consist of late night talks between the two of you, afternoons in the kitchen making breakfast after waking up late, laying on the couch in the middle of the day, looking forward to a day of nothing,,,

showing him your comfortable with his presence. for beomgyu, his personality varies based on the people he's with. someone he doesn't know as well he might act more shy than someone he's known his whole life. for you to be able to show that side of you personality with him makes his world go round.

you getting along with people he loves, honestly i think he would combust. for him to be able to see you interacting kindly with his family, friends, and the members means so much to him. if he's being honest, he's not sure if he would be able to stay with you unless the people he loves liked you even the slightest bit. (it makes him especially happy when they come to him telling him how much they love you)

kang taehyun - by my side by junny

having no secrets from him, and vice versa. he knows you're always there for him if he has something to tell you. taehyun is a pretty mature person, so a secret that he finds important is rare. in doing this, its also a subtle way of telling you he trusts you with his heart.

taehyun is not the biggest fan of skinship, but he always wants you attached to his hip. no matter the place or time, he wants you close. whether that be through holding your hand, his arm around your shoulders, or his hand holding the small of your back. honestly, the members are a little jealous of you,,, but taehyun still loves cuddling you regardless.

the way time goes fast by with you is something that has always amazed tyun. how can a person possibly make him feel like an hour is ten minutes? later into your relationship, he realized that it was because your presence was enough to make him feel like he's floating.

huening kai - the green by chris james

the way he wants to be with you no matter yours or his mood is something that threw you off. at first you weren't sure how he would stay level headed with you, but you soon realized that it was because he loves you. he wants to spend time with you when you're mad, shy, tired, hungy, any mood. and even when he is in these moods he wants you by his side.

when he doubts himself, you're there like you always are. to comfort him, or just listen. whether it be because of work, or just life itself, he always feels like he can come to you and feel instantly better.

when he doesn't notice. to be perfectly honest, kai doesn't always notice things. this could be for mundane tasks as much as sometimes he would completely understand and see that he loves you, but won't say anything because he's already thinking about something else. when he does finally realize it, he thinks its as good thing that he was so causal it it. because for him, it means its true love.

“Make me,” Leo cackles over the phone, and you scowl playfully at your screen.

“I’m never calling you ever again.”

“What!” He gasps, offended by your snide remark. You chuckle, watching him roll his eyes on your screen with a grin.

“Look, it’s not my fault I happen to be irresistible.”

“Irresist-this,” You hold up your middle finger to your camera with a blank expression. Your lips quiver, threatening to curve into an entertained smirk at his slack jaw and parted lips as he looks at the screen incredulously.

“You have a special place in hell. I hope you know that.”

“But you’d follow me to the ends of the Earth, won’t you, babe?” You sit upright, frowning at your screen when he doesn’t respond, averting his gaze to look at his bedroom wall.

“Of course, mi amor! I’d never leave you there to rot by yourself….” Leo chuckles nervously. You flop back down into your bed with a sigh, deciding to mess with him as payback.

“I can’t believe you don’t love me anymore,” You groan, letting your hand fall to your side, the phone screen now facing your ceiling.

“Of course I love you! Just not to hell and back.”

You start to sniffle quietly, hiccuping slightly. You silently count down in your head.

5….4….3….2….1.

“I didn’t mean it, Corazón,” Leo sighs in defeat, rolling his eyes when you lift your phone back up to show your pleased grin and devious eyes.

“Gottem.” You state.

“You’re lucky I love you.”

“I know, I’m lucky to have the best boyfriend ever. He’s sweet, he’s kind, he’s a pain in the ass….” You list off, only to be interrupted by his scoff. You pause, narrowing your eyes as you look at him.

“What ass?”

“...Well, this was nice while it lasted.” You retort instantly, moving to lay on your side and stare at your boyfriend. Your eyes study every pixel of his face on your screen, Leo remaining passive. He’s used to this habit of yours now, even enjoying it and showing off sometimes while you stare.

“When we’re looking up dream apartments, in cities we’ve never heard of.”

“Are there any places you wanna visit when we’re older?” You ask absentmindedly. He hums in thought, fingers tapping his chin while his free hand props his phone up against a stack of comics on his bed so he can continue to see your face.

“Paris and Sydney.”

“Oh?” You raise a brow, curious about the reason behind his second chosen destination.

“Babe, they have this thing called a Tim-Tam Slam. A TIm. Tam. Slam. And they call flipflops, thongs. They are my people.” He explains enthusiastically, and your heart melts at his bright smile.

“Really? Even with all the bugs?”

“Relax, I got these babies. I’ll protect you, my damsel in distress.” He moves his phone to show you his katanas resting against the wall, plopping himself back down on his bed again.

“What about you?”

You answer easily. “South Korea and Santiago.”

“Why’s that?” He pipes up, looking at you with intrigue. This is the first he’s heard of your dream destination.

“Well, I wanna go to the amusement park in South Korea and eat my way through Santiago.” You reply with a chuckle at his awed expression.

“I can’t wait to move in with you,” Leo murmurs with a soft smile, adjusting his pillow so that it’d prop him up at a better angle for you to see him, “What did you think about the apartments I sent over that we can rent? I really like the third option.”

“You mean in…” You take a moment to double-check your messages, “Oslo?” It’s a place you’ve never heard of, much less known before he spammed you with various links for apartments.

“There’re Viking Ships. Not one, not two, but three.” He points out with unadulterated glee. “I can finally do what I’ve always dreamed of: Becoming a pirate.”

You bite your lip to stop the amused smile from forming. “Mmhm,” You nod, trying your best to be serious.

“Babe. I could be a ninja pirate.”

“What about pirate ninja? Oh, never mind. I see why you decided to go with ninja pirate.”

“Rolls off the tongue better.” He agrees with a solemn nod.

“My favourite things about us is when we argue and make up.”

“Remember our first date?” You’re surprised by his sudden question, nodding in response.

“How could I forget? You called me the McNugget to your Cheeseburger.” Laughter bubbles past your lips at the memory of Leo having dressed up in a suit and telling you to wear something formal. You chose to wear a sky-blue gown that reached your calves, along with white heels.

You ended up having your first date at a McDonald’s.

You found the entire ordeal amusing, especially when he had cooly said he’d take care of dessert, only to return with two Oreo McFlurries. That’s when you knew that you had fallen hard for him.

“It was the best date I’d ever been on.” You admit, your cheeks aching from the sweet smile on your lips.

“Was all part of the strategy and natural charm. I bet no other guy’s ever done that before, either.” Leo states smugly with a charming grin, having turned to lay on his back, though his head is still turned to look at you.

“I will admit, it worked.”

You hear him hum in agreement, glancing at the clock and realizing it’s now four A.M.

How long had you even been talking for?

You can see him struggling to keep his eyes open, choosing to stay quiet until he falls asleep. His small snores bring you comfort through your phone’s speaker. You continue staring at him until your eyelids grow heavy, gradually dozing off as well.

“When I wake up right next to you, I don’t feel like I’m lost anymore.”

You groan softly, scrunching your nose and burrowing deeper under your covers as the late morning sun chooses to ruin your peaceful sleep. You blink sleepily, making an effort to move your hand out from under the warm blankets to draw the curtains shut just a smidge.

You glance down at your phone, which had fallen during your sleep, the screen facing up and showing Leo, whose eyes are still closed, sleeping peacefully. You prop it back up, snuggling into the turtle plush he bought you and staring at the screen.

Your heart warms at the sight, watching his plastron rise and fall with each breath. You make a mental note to thank the inventor of the smartphone on Instagram. You’re oddly awake, content with staying in bed with your boyfriend (even if he isn’t physically beside you).

You reach out, brushing your thumb against the screen with a soft smile. The words are caught in your throat, but you have to say them. You lower your voice into a whisper so you don’t disturb his rest.

“I love you.”

Journal for Year 3 (Ng Zheng Yao) 23420

Week 1 (18th Aug)

spent my week promoting my latest single “For No Reason” on social media

Went out to film some videos to promote the single

Week 2 (25th Aug)

Edited some videos taken from my previous work trip to Tokyo

wrote a new song to perform for recital class

Week 3 (1st Sept)

Got invited to perform at Bras Basah mrt station for Hear65’s new initiative of playing local music in train stations.

Started brainstorming on my dissertation research proposal.

Week 4(8th Sept)

Posted an Instagram reel about a song called ‘Hostage’ that I was working on. It started to go viral on social media.

Took the upcoming Friday’s recital class as a chance to finish the song so I can plan to release it on the same month.

Week 5 (15 Sept)

Decided to record a solo guitar part for ‘Hostage’.

Found a day and sat down with my guitarist friend to write out a memorable guitar solo

Decided to take the week to prepare a press kit for the song. (Took press photos, do a write-up for the song and)

Ingested the song on time to be released on the 29th of September.

Week 6 (22 Sept)

Started working on my research proposal for my dissertation

was going back and forth with the type of dissertation I was going to write ( practise based or fully written)

Instagram reel about my single was going viral as the reel hits 100k likes

attended a talk hosted by LaSalle about music careers by Homeground Music.

Week 7 (29th Sept)

Recorded a reel of me showing the various inspirations behind my upcoming single ‘Hostage’

Went for a music work trip to Fukuoka on the 25th Sept.

attended a songwriting camp there

worked with a Japanese music producer and wrote 2 new singles.

Performed at a local club in Fukuoka.

New single ‘Hostage’ drops

Week 8 (6th October)

Came back to Singapore on the 1st of October

attended a Freelance 101 talk at Lasalle

Gave a talk at SIM about my music journey as an artist.

dropped an instrumental version of ‘Hostage’ on YouTube.

Week 9 (13th Oct)

Posted an open verse duet video for the release of ‘Hostage’

Started editing and posting videos taken from the Fukuoka trip to promote my latest single.

Started writing my research proposal.

Week 10 (20th Oct)

Latest single charted on Singapore’s charts at #52

Started working on the intro of my research proposal.

Week 11(27th Oct)

Came down and supported LAY YI’s EP launch. Performed as a feature on one of her songs called ‘Homebody’.

Helped out for backing vocals for Ryoko’s performance at the Esplanade Concourse.

Week 12th (3rd Nov)

Shot an Instagram reel of a collaboration with Philippino music artist Allison Shore and Rangga Jones at Homeground Studios

took the week to finish up a new song I was working on.

Week 13th (10th Nov)

Prepared for an upcoming festival show happening on the 18th of November

had to arrange and music direct a 30mins set with all my existing songs.

Did a Instagram ticket giveaway for the upcoming festival.

Week 14th (17th Nov)

Met my dissertation supervisor Natalie on Zoom to look through my current research proposal. Feedback was given that I needed a more detailed description of my methodology.

Week 15th ( 12th Jan)

Paid a visit to Spotify Singapore office to discuss more about my upcoming releases

Started preparing for another festival called Aliwal Arts festival which was happening on the 27th of January.

Week 16th (19th Jan)

Performed ‘Hostage’ for Open House at LaSalle.

Took the week to work on a demo I was writing.

Week 17th (26th Jan)

Went for a writing camp at GRYD studios and worked on some songwriting briefs.

Practised for my upcoming show on teh 27th of Jan

Week 18th (2nd Feb)

Finished writing a new song called “Die for you” during ensemble class.

Decided to release it on the 23rd of Feb

learnt a lot about mixing and mastering as this was the first time I tried doing it all by myself.

Week 19th (9th Feb)

Started shooting some videos to promote the upcoming track “Die For You” to garner some support online.

Started finalising my dissertation title

Week 20th (16th Feb)

Did up an arrangement for an upcoming performance at Cherry disco for a graduation party for Ngee Ann Poly.(It was challenging as I had to perform with just a backing track so I had to make the transition in between songs sound interesting)

Week 21st (23rd Feb)

Filmed a music video all the way at Sarimbum Scount Camp for ‘Hostage’

experience a lot of nature and also worked with a lot of passionate people on set.

Filmed a recorded set for SNS also known as Scratch n Shuffle. Managed to come up with an arrangement with a live band for my upcoming song “Die For You”.

Drop a new single called “Die For You”

Week 22 (1st March)

Posted the usual Instagram reels to promote my single.

however it did not worked as well as before(engagements were lower compared to ‘Hostage’

Week 23 (8th March)

Did up slides for my dissertation and attended Panel presentations.

Showed my slides and demo to Tim and James.

Tim and James mentioned that I need to do more research in terms of literary sources to back up my claims.

Week 4 (15th March)

Met my supervisor to clarify some questions in regards to my literary sources.

Prepared the backing track for a Charity show

started brainstorming on some major points I wanted to write about for my dissertation.

Week 25 (22nd March)

Performed for a Charity event with just backing track.

Managed to take what I’ve learned from the previous backing track performance I did at Cherry disco

Made the transitions more smooth between songs so there would be a seamless flow in the performance

Went to Samabloc Studios to work on a corporate gig. Helped with writing the melody for Hari Raya song.

Week 26 (29th March)

Got invited to radio station Kiss92 to promote my latest singles.

Hosted the Japanese producers who I’ve met previously last year for the songwriting camp in Fukuoka. Brought them around Singapore and even showed them art places like the Esplanade.

Week 27 (5th April)

Started working on my dissertation. Finished the intro and started on writing the main bulk of the paper.

Had a few practice sessions with my band to prepare for my final recital.

Week 28 (12th April)

Continued working on my dissertation.

Found some difficulty with wrapping up my points for the dissertation.

learned that I should have started the writing much earlier.
