What made you start writing?

OH BOY are y’all ready for an origin story 💀💀

I have written stories for like as long as I can remember. Like I have notebooks from elementary school with stories written in the margins.

I started writing fic when I was a junior in high school even though I didn’t realize it was actually fic until later? It was a baseball fic with Rick Porcello (iykyk) and every once in awhile when I hate my writing, I force myself to read it because it reminds me that I have come so far in my craft.

I have this habit of writing and rewriting stories like six times and I no kidding, have written 6 versions of the original fic I wrote and that consumed me from ages 16-19.

Then I got married to a man in the military and moved 1000 miles. A month later, he was set to go to training far away and the day before, a tragedy struck that definitely could've been my husband and I just couldn't get the what-ifs out of my mind so I just wrote through it through an Ian Kinsler fic.

Cue the writing and rewriting of that fic lol

And then my son was born and I was in the deep depths of PPD and PPA and I used fic writing as a way to cope -- both as something productive to do and as a means to find a community. And I'm not even kidding a bit when I say fic saved my life through this period.

And in the 3 years since, I've written some, mostly read some A++ work but most importantly I've made so many amazing friends through fic so yeah, that's the sparknotes version of what made me write fic!
