Gabriele Marino on Corruption

Gabriele Marino, nato a Cefalù (PA) nel 1985, è Ricercatore (RtdA) part-time di Semiotica presso l'Università di Torino, dove insegna Semiotica delle culture musicali. Si occupa di musica, comunicazione online e teoria semiotica.

È membro di FACETS (gruppo di ricerca sui volti digitali finanziato da UE/ERC) e OLiNDiNUM (osservatorio linguistico sulla comunicazione digitale), è segretario dell'AISS-Associazione Italiana di Studi Semiotici e della sezione italiana della IASPM-International Association for the Study of Popular Music.

Ha insegnato semiotica del design presso lo IAAD di Torino e Bologna, lo IED di Milano, lo IUSVE di Mestre.

Ha scritto di musica per Sentireascoltare e Classic Rock, e di comunicazione per Doppiozero.

È cofondatore del seminario permanente #semioboomer trasmesso sui social della rivista "Lexia".

È autore di due monografie: "Britney canta Manson e altri capolavori" (Crac, 2011), sulla critica musicale, e "Frammenti di un disco incantato" (Aracne, 2020), sui generi musicali.

Raising the Dead Again is on indefinite hiatus.

We regret to say that @raisingthedeadagain will no longer be running for the time being. The official statement on RTDA’s twitter [link] from Jeremy Andre was:

“I hate to do this - but I’m putting RTDA on an indefinite hiatus. We’ll return eventually (probably do a whole redo of RTDA) in the future when there is lesss stressors on us than there are right now. RTDA has gone from a project that the cast enjoyed to a main source of anxiety for its creators, so I believe this is really for the best. When we get to remaking, or if we make a new podcast at some point in the future, you will all be updated! The cast just has been having issues and annoyance all around. We love you guys, and we’re really sorry we had to do this. Good luck all of you!“

As Aster Podcasting Network moves forward, we hope to add new shows to our family and make this network’s mission a reality with every new podcast!

Hello! What exactly is line stitching? Is it splicing lines spoken by people who didn’t read the lines into the same mic together? Asking because while I have experience, I don’t have much in the way of formal training, so I lack vocabulary.

(Lindsay: ) Hey! You are actually dead on with that, as that’s exactly what it is. As our cast is scattered literally across the entire world, none of them get to read their lines together, which leads to the need to “stitch” each line into the proper place. Splicing, but without having to use a plasma splicer. I entirely understand not having any formal training, as most of mine is also self taught.
