The Spectacular Spider-Man #180
Utterly engrossing from cover to cover.
“He sounds like his father!”
I detest dream issues, and characters having extended hallucinogenic episodes. Because they rarely work. They usually come across as padding, not storytelling. This is the exception. This is top-tier storytelling that takes us inside the minds of these characters, and captures their turmoil. And the story moves forward as a consequence. Frequently without any distracting text to accompany the pitch-perfect artwork. This is glorious.
On Sale Date: July 23, 1991.
Total Paid Circulation: 207,533 (average: #171-182).
J.M. DeMatteis (3 of 28).
Sal Buscema (47 of 108).

The Eight Billion Year Funeral
Tumblr media
Quasar #26
Mixed bag. Most of it really good.
Quasar vs. Thanos.
Moondragon getting annoyed/angry because Quasar doesn’t love her back is perfectly in character. And it’s amusing to watch. All those Mourners showing up to stage Eon’s funeral is a fascinating/inventive idea, very much in keeping with the stories in this series. The battle with Thanos felt anti-climactic, but the cliffhanger was good.
