I believe that IF Silver IS a descendent of Sonic/Shadow/Amy/anyone else, he's a descendent via adoption because the only Sonic character that I accept having kids is Vanilla.
honestly part of the reason im not a fan of the ideas of silver being a descendant of other characters we already know is because i just dont see why its necessary for them to be related ..? idk i just dont think anything that could be gained from him being shadows kid or sonics descendant or whatever is worth losing part of whats already compelling about silver and also making things super confusing. plus none of the pairings of already existing characters people have suggested as silvers bio parents make any sense, usually because its impossible from a timeline perspective but also because theyre always picking characters who would NOT have kids either in general or with the specific people theyre being paired with
#i also just kinda have a hard time imagining most sonic characters who arent already parents (so. most of them) wanting to be parents#it just does not feel right to me#i guess part of it could be an age thing . being a parent is an Adult thing and most sonic characters are not adults#so imagining them doings things that only adults do by in universe standards just feels strange and foreign to me#even though these scenarios would obviously take place a couple decades into the future#but also even when specifically thinking about it through the lens of ''would this character want to be a parent when theyre older''#the answer is usually no or idk#because there are a lot of characters where it just doesnt feel like it fits them?#sonic and rouge are a couple characters i can name off the top of my head who i know for sure would not have kids.#shadow im not so sure about either. yet he is the most common choice for silvers bio parent. pain#thing about shadow and silver is i think a timeline where shadow is actually around to meet little silver and is like#a mentor/older brother/guardian figure of sorts does kinda have potential to be interesting but i dont really want that to be made canon#but shadow straight up being his dad? idk man. not really into that. shadow being his biological dad? ABSOLUTELY not into that .#people having the present version of shadow whos a teenager barely older than silver being a dad to him?? weird as hell. no#asks#also part of what bugs me about the shadow as silvers dad stuff is people pretending its anything more than a baseless headcanon#like im not saying all headcanons have to have proof behind them but people act like the shadow as silvers dad thing#is an actual plausible theory that could be true and has tons of evidence? when it really doesnt ??#i feel the need to specify that im not trying to police what people do or aynthing just sharing my opinions

Sorry this took so long @aestheticallytiredandpathetic but I gave the #5 fix idea finished!! Im gonna have to write fluff after because DAMN—
There is a blood/injury and mentions of suicide warning, be warned!
Hope you enjoy!!
The day had started normally. Really it had, it was a nice day, light clouds scattered in the sky. Bakugo and the rest of the band were relaxing on the common areas couch when Denki pointed at the T.V.
It drew everyone's attention, Todoroki and Midoryia poking there heads over the couch and Kirishima plopped himself on the floor. Hawks and Tokoyami were shown on the screen, Hawks was laughing and patting Tokoyami's shoulder.
"We're gonna work on some people-skills, right Tsukuyomi?" Tokoyami nodded simply as a reporter shoved a microphone into his face. Tokoyami wasn't cut out for this. There was a loud scream and the two heros tensed, ready to fight.
"Heya Hawks!" Miruko landed beside Tokoyami, grinning. Hawks sighed and smiled easily. "What's up Miruko?" The reporters were talking, and Miruko shrugged. "Hate to spring this on you, but..." Miruko smirked.
Tokoyami let out a squawk as Miruko lifted him easily over one shoulder. "Gonna borrow your intern here for the day!" Without waiting for a response, she jumped away. Hawks was left gaping and Tokoyami was taken away. "Thanks, I'll bring him back later!" She called over her shoulder.
Kaminari laughed loudly, and Bakugo snorted. "Oh no you dont! Give Tsukuyomi back!" Hawks yelled, kicking off. Thus began the chase of a lifetime.
Tokoyami had no choice but to be dragged all over Kushu as Miruko tried to avoid Hawks. They almost matched in speed, which made things interesting. Miruko had lost grip on Tokoyami several times, and Hawks was barely able to catch him. Tokoyami managed to have a little fun though.
Miruko got her grip on the teen again as they soared through the sky. "We should be able to cut through here if we—" Miruko was cut off by the building next to them suddenly being destroyed. Something came crashing through, hitting into the pair.
"Holy shit—! Hang on, kid!" Miruko yelled as they were sent falling to the ground. Tokoyami clung onto Miruko's arm, and they smacked onto the roof and rolled. Tokoyami groaned in pain and looked up. A large nomu stood in front of them, cloaking them in shadow. There were many other smaller nomu with it.
Tokoyami got up on shaky legs and was ready to fight. Hawks must not be aware of this, or he'd be here. Miruko sprinted past him, and Tokoyami followed. With Dark Shadow's assistance, Tokoyami knocked nomu away and tried to stop the people from getting harmed. The large nomu appeared in front of him, and Tokoyami was sent flying with an aggressive swipe of its hand.
Miruko was next to him in seconds, helping him stand. "You good, kid?" Tokoyami shook his head to stop the world from spinning. He nodded and stood straighter. Miruko grinned ferally. "Let's kick some ass!" She went running, Tokoyami hot on her heels. The nomu was saying something, it seemed to be complaining. Hawks showed up, Endeavor and a news crew following.
"Sorry we're a little late." Hawks flew down and pat his interns shoulder. Tokoyami looked up gratefully. Hawks zipped forward into the fray. Tokoyami jumped forward, preparing to attack, when—
"Friend!" Tokoyami stopped and turned his head in the direction the nomu was looking. One of the weaker nomu was trapped under rubble. The nomu looked panicked, and struggled against Hawks, Miruko and Endeavor. It seemed worried.
Tokoyami skidded to a stop. The weaker nomu struggled, clearly in pain. Hawks let out a shout of pain and was knocked into Endeavor, and the two went flying. Miruko was shoved away, crashing into a wall with a yell.
The large nomu called out for its friend again. Tokoyami turned and ran forward, and carefully lifted the rubble. He was curious, but also knew how stupidly dangerous this was. The weaker nomu scrambled towards the larger one, and they exchanged headpats? The larger nomu stared suspiciously at Tokoyami.
Shigaraki and the strange Doctor stared as this child-soldier saved the enemy. "What a weirdo. Kill him." Shigaraki ordered bluntly, and the large nomu ran forward, intent on killing. "Wait! I want to know why the child did that!" The Doctor yelled. Shigaraki sighed. "Fine. Bring him home." He ordered.
The class was watching, worried. Tokoyami blinked and the nomu was in his face. "Wait!—" Hawks looked up at his interns face, and saw the pure fear. The nomu's hand came down. Yamomo gasped loudly and Jirou covered her mouth in shock.
Bakugo froze, and Kirishima went silent. The whole class stared in astonishment. Aziawa's eyes were wide, and he gripped his chair. "Tsukuyomi!" Hawks yelled, getting to his feet.
The nomu turned, and left. Hawks couldn't see his intern, all he saw has his hand, and blood dripped off from his fingertips. Hawks flew after them, cussing. "Give him back, you big bastard—!" The nomu turned and smacked Hawks with one arm, and Hawks went tumbling.
"You won't get away with him! Let go!" Hawks attacked it again, harder this time. The nomu let out a roar and took a random piece of rubble, throwing it at Hawks. It hit his head, and he fell, wings flopping uselessely. Miruko caught him, and Endeavor shot forward. He didnt have much luck either.
Hawks sat up. "Tsukuyomi!" He called. Miruko stared at the large fresh blood stain splattered on the ground. "He's lost a lot of blood. Its probably coming from his head." She muttered, picking Hawks up. "Let's go. We've gotta call for backup." Hawks didn't budge. "Let's go, birdbrain." Hawks left.
The news feed cut off.
In his rage, Bakugo stood and set off explosions. Aziawa stood roughly and his chair toppled over. The class was startled by the loud noise. "Aziawa..." All Might started, worried. Aziawa didnt say anything. He left the room in a rush. Bakugo followed shortly.
Tokoyami woke up to someone poking him. He grimaces and shoved the hand back, and opens an eye. The man standing over him grins under his mask, and turns. "The kid is awake! About damn time too. I was getting bored." Tokoyami was confused.
"Twice, leave him alone. Remember last time you got too physical?" A voice called, and the man above shivered. "I thought those nomu were supposed to be nice to us?!" He said, stomping towards Tokoyami. He lifted him up by the cloak with one hand, staring into his eyes.
"Hey, kid. What'd you do to get the nomu on your side? Dont tell me!" Tokoyami blinked, everything was fuzzy. Tokoyami's voice came out muffled and slurred. "Dunno... what you mean..." His eyes drooped close. He was shook violently. "You're not allowed fall asleep yet! Shigaraki wants to talk!"
Tokoyami's eyes snapped open. He was definitely awake now. "Wha—?! Shigaraki? Wait–!" He was dragged forward. Twice dropped him onto the floor. There were bright lights, blinding him. Tokoyami squinted up at the figure in the corner, and the door slammed shut. The figure moved closer.
Tokoyami stared in fear. Standing over him was the most dangerous villain in Japan. He took off the hand constantly covering his face and glared down at him. "The Doctor wasnt bothered enough to come ask you this himself, so I'm here instead." His voice was like static grinding against a cheese grater, it was disgusting.
'This bitch needs to drink some water...' Dark Shadow commented from within. Tokoyami agreed. Shigaraki held onto the edge of Tokoyami's cloak with four fingers. "Do you know what my quirk is? If you dont, I'll gladly give you a demonstration." Tokoyami shivered as the last finger came down, leaving him in sweatpants and a t-shirt.
"Your hand is next if you dont give me an answer." Shigaraki threatened. Tokoyami swallowed and nodded. Shigaraki grinned. 'Ew, brush you teeth, and work on that smile... disgusting.' Dark Shadow crackled from inside. It took all of Tokoyami's resolve not to laugh as well.
Shigaraki bent down and huffed, his breath hitting Tokoyami's face. He almost gagged. 'I'm begging for someone to introduce him to toothpaste' Tokoyami pleaded, and Dark Shadow was already screaming his discomfort.
"How did you get that nomu to cooperate with you?" Shigaraki asked. Tokoyami blinked. "The nomu?" Shigaraki got back up and kicked Tokoyami's chest. He hit the ground and coughed. "Yeah, the nomu seems to be attached to you..." He hissed. "I dont know, I cant control what it does." Tokoyami reply is forced out as he tries to breathe.
"Why'd you save the other nomu then? You have to have a decent answer for that." Tokoyami looks up to find Shigaraki's cold glare baring into his soul. "It was in trouble." He answered simply. Shigaraki laughed, and the sound was horrible, it made Tokoyami wince.
"Yeah, like a hero would risk their life for the enemy." Shigaraki scoffed. "I dont know why I saved it. The other nomu was worried, and I acted on instinct." Tokoyami spoke truthfully. Shigaraki raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, sure." He said, and kicked Tokoyami's chest again.
Tokoyami wheezed as Shigaraki lifted him with four fingers. "Well, now that I have you here..." He grinned. "Another question." Tokoyami was prepared to answer another question about a nomu.
"How do you get into U.A?" Tokoyami froze. "What?" He asked, genuinely confused. Shigaraki growled and pushed him down, and Tokoyami hissed as his back collided hard with the ground again. "You heard me, brat. How do you get into U.A?"
Tokoyami scoffed. "I'm not telling you. What makes you think I'd tell you anything?" Tokoyami hoped he sounded less afraid than he felt. Shigaraki smiled again, and held something sharp in his hand. "Because of you dont tell me..." He said, digging the object into Tokoyami's shoulder.
Tokoyami cried out in pain. "This will be the least painful thing you feel. Understand?" Tokoyami glared up at the villain. "Do your worst. I'm not telling you anything." He shot back. It was a silent promise to himself, and to Shigaraki. He wasnt going to break.
Shigaraki sighed, and leaned into a speaker on the table. "Bring them in. Our guest is being uncooperative." Tokoyami swallowed his nerves as three people walked in. Twice, Toga and Spinner. Shigaraki sat on the table, grinning.
"Welcome. At our guest's request, do your worst." Tokoyami's eyes widened. Twice laughed and got to work, punching Tokoyami's face. Toga took her time pulling out a knife. Spinner shuffled a little awkwardly at first, but got into it after a minute.
Shigaraki laughed as Tokoyami started screaming in pain. This was his own fault, after all. Dabi stood waiting behind the door, huffing as the screams grew louder.
"No." Aziawa deadpanned, holding Bakugo and Midoryia down with his capture weapon. "But, sir! Tokoyami is in danger—" Shouji tried to reason, and ended up victim of Aziawa's weapon too. "I'm well aware. But you're still students, and some are targets of the league. Under no circumstances are any of you to engage with them. Understood?"
The class begrudgingly promised not to engage. "But what if we—?" Mina's arms was wrapped in capture weapon. "I understand your concerns." Aziawa repeats for the third time. "But it's a no. There will be a rescue team of pro heros sent out to get Tokoyami back. If I catch wind of you there so help me–"
Aziawa glared. "Shigaraki and the league's torture will be nothing compared to what I'll do." The class seemed to stop complaining so much after. He left them in All Might's hands and met with Hawks and the rest of the team.
"The class wont intervene. Hopefully." Hawks laughed, though it was forced. "Come on, we've got a bird to save." Endeavor scoffed. "I still don't understand how you found the place so fast." Hawks grinned up at him.
"I've always got a feather stuffed somewhere on my intern." Hawks said simply. Endeavor gaped at him. "What? I'm always prepared for these sorts of things." Aziawa rolled his eyes at Hawks's reply, and Miruko slapped his shoulder. "After the seventh or eighth time Hawks landed Tokoyami in hospital, he just sorta started doing it." She explained to the teacher.
Aziawa glared at Hawks. "I'm well aware that Hawks has the tendency to land my student in hospital." His glare was like ice. "For various reasons." He added coldly. Hawks shrugged. "Hey, I told you I'm not good at this 'having a kid' thing." He said defensively.
"That doesn't excuse the fact you landed my kid in hospital over thirty seven times this past year alone! I told you he couldn't have dairy, and the same day I get a call—" Aziawa was ranting, ready to recite every time he'd been called in for some stupid reason, but Endeavor cut him off.
"That's enough! Shigaraki isnt a patient man, and if we do not act now there may not be another chance to get the child stuck in a hospital again." The words struck a chord in the group. Hawks hadn't thought thay far ahead. They took him because they wanted him, right? They wouldnt kill him if he was useful.
Would they?
Aziawa huffed and started walking. "Let's hurry. And don't do anything illogical. Let's do things rationally." Miruko rolled a shoulder, hearing it crack. "Whatever, I'm gonna kick Shigaraki's musty face in!" Hawks laughed. "Yeah, you do that." Aziawa and Endeavor rolled their eyes in unison and lead the way.
"Their both like interns..." Endeavor commented as they walked. Aziawa nodded. "I love and hate that about them." He answered quietly. They walked the rest of the way in silence.
"Haven't you had enough yet?" Tokoyami slammed onto the ground again, crying out in pain. Twice was gearing up for another blow, and Toga had sufficiently taken a solid months worth of blood from him. He was exhausted, and he wanted to go home.
Tokoyami spat blood out, and tried to brace himself on shaking hands. "I'm not going to tell you anything." He spat, willing himself to stay upright. Shigaraki scoffed. "Fine, have it your way. Twice?"
"Already on it! I dont wanna punch the kid anymore!" Tokoyami heard the fist collide before he felt the pain. He was sent straight down, cursing. Toga stabbed his shoulder again, earning a loud shout. Spinner had a bat, and took a swing. Tokoyami fell back, utterly spent and sore.
Shigaraki tutted. "This is all so useless. We could get along so much better if you would hear me out." He said quietly, sitting untouched on the table. Tokoyami scoffed. "Forgive me of I don't feel like listening to a psycho who's been torturing me for the past hour!" He said, gaining confidence.
Shigaraki glared down at him. "You little–" Tokoyami flinched, prepared for the blow. It never came, instead, the door opened with a crash. "We've gotta go. Heros." Dabi said, glancing down at the teen. Shigaraki growled. "Fucking– you know what? Fine." He turned to Tokoyami. "Have the nomu that likes this brat so much take him." Shigaraki ordered.
Dabi didnt hesitate. "That's dangerous. And stupid." Shigaraki turned to him. "You got a better idea, hot stuff?" Dabi didnt respond. "I thought so. Twice, let the nomu out." Twice nodded enthusiastically, then shook his head. He left.
Tokoyami wasnt sure what to expect, but it wasnt this. The nomu came rushing in, smaking Dabi away. Tokoyami was picked up and the nomu growled at everyone else in the room. It looked down at Tokoyami. "Hurt?" It asked.
Tokoyami blinked. "I'm fine." He answered slowly. It was a lie, but he wasnt about to admit that the villains hurt him. "Lies." It growled, and took a swipe at the league. Spinner yelled as Shigaraki cursed and grabbed his arm, pulling him back. The nomu turned and ran through the wall. Tokoyami let out a shout of fear as they took to the skies, Tokoyami gripping onto the nomu's neck like a lifeline.
They flew through the sky, the beginning of the sunset light hitting Tokoyami's face. "Where are we going?!" He screamed over the wind. The nomu didnt look at him. "Safe." It said simply. Well, that didnt help. Tokoyami looked around, and gasped.
"Hawks?!"
Hawks had been looking up at the nomu as it zoomed overhead. He caught Tokoyami's eye. "Kid?! What are you—" Tokoyami cut him off. "Wait, Hawks! Help–" The nomu turned right suddenly, and Tokoyami almost went flying. Tokoyami was petrified, clinging onto the slimy and slippery skin, close to tears.
Whether that was from the pain or fear, he wasnt sure.
Hawks flew after them, Endeavor hot on his heels, literally and figuratively. Miruko came in as a close second, and Aziawa bright up the rear with the police. "Take care if the league." Aziawa called, running forward.
"Let Tsukuyomi go! Stupid—" Hawks yelled, and was surprised when it did. Tokoyami let out a screech of fear as he plummeted towards the ground at incredible speed. Hawks dived for him, and Miruko flew forward. "Got him!" She caught Tokoyami in her arms, and he clung tight, trembling.
"Great, now let's—Shit!!" Miruko was thrown off course as the nomu reached for them. Hawks panicked. This wasnt part of the plan. Endeavor grabbed Miruko's arm, and steered them to a rooftop. The nomu let out a roar as it knocked Miruko away, and Tokoyami smaked onto the ground hard, and he was left gasping.
Endeavor growled. A portal opened, and Spinner, Shigaraki and Dabi showed up. They looked ready to fight, but everyone was taken by surprise when the nomu swung wildly at them all. Hawks was thrown off balance, and the three villains were sent off the roof.
The nomu let out another shout and grabbed Endeavor's face, and slammed it into the concrete. Tokoyami was frozen and the nomu repeatedly slammed the number one heros head into the ground. "Wait! Stop it, let him go!" Tokoyami ran forward and grabbed at the nomu's arm, tugging with all his might.
The nomu turned, and Tokoyami choked as the nomu wrapped it's free hand around his neck. Endeavor was forgotten, left bleeding on the building. Tokoyami struggled, trying to get free. His windpipe was crushed, and he wheezed. His vision was blacking out around the edges, and everything was fuzzy.
Tokoyami clawed at the hand in fear. He couldn't breathe, he needed to get out, he begged for someone to help, he didnt want to die—
There was a snap.
Dabi heard and stared, wide-eyed. Shigaraki cursed as Tokoyami stopped struggling, falling limp in the nomu's hold. "Oh my god..." Spinner said, gripping the ledge he was clutching so tight his knuckles were a light green.
Hawks heard the sound and looked up. 'Please be a bone, any bone, don't be—' He saw his interns hand fall, useless. Miruko gasped loudly, hands shaking. Aziawa showed up, and saw his student hang lifeless. "Holy..." The words caught in his throat.
Hawks couldn't believe what he was looking at. "No, no no no no..." He ran forward, and the nomu dropped him. The nomu turned and ran. Shigaraki muttered something, and he and Spinner disappeared through the portal. Dabi didn't follow. He stared as Hawks caught his kid and held him gently.
Tokoyami's eyes were still open. Red and full of fear, staring up at the sky as it it had grown a pair of hands and flipped him off. Hawks stared at his students neck. It wasn't very obvious because of the red cloth, but it had definitely been broken. His interns chest didnt rise or fall, it stayed still and the tremors had stopped too.
Aziawa came over quietly. He stared at his students eyes for a moment before shutting them. Hawks shook, head buried in his kids shoulder. Miruko came over sluggishly. "I'm sorry..." She whispered, voice cracking. Hawks shook his head, refusing to believe it.
There was movement. Maybe...?
Dark Shadow emerged, small and wispy. "I'm sorry I couldn't keep him safe..." The quirk said softly. "And I'm sorry I cant stay." Hawks looked up. Dark Shadow faded. "I'll tell Fumi you said hello! Maybe we can see you soon? After Fumi wakes up?" There wasnt an answer.
The last piece of Tokoyami disappeared, and the heros were left alone.
Hawks let out a dry sob. That was the only sound made for a long time.
Dabi left. He didnt say anything, but sat on a balcony and smoked. He took a long drag before looking up. "Sorry, bird brain..." Dabi said to no one. He took another drag and sighed.
Breaking the news was hard, and it took a while for things to go back to 'normal' but the class helped each other move on slowly. Hawks didnt last much longer, and the world lost two birds-heros.
When they reunited, they were happy. Albeit rocky at the start, but they got used to the whole 'we get to haunt people now' thing quickly. Hawks– Kiego had fun with his bird-bro in the afterlife, and that made death worth it.
Lordie if this didnt kill me—
Also I'm sorry for it rushing at the end! I wanted to get it out as quick as I could.
Hope you enjoyed this! Fluff is next because they need a break lmao—

Anytime I see the legion im picturing urs so now in a trial im like "fukn idiot loser babies" *pallet smacks*. Reading ur meta(is that the term??) on Julie just now I'm like. So mad for her!! Get them kids some therapy!! How could the adults in their lives let them get to such a shitty point.. >:( Also, another thought I had with Adiris. The buzzfeed video is more her holding a bunch of cats. Because the survivors are like herding cats. Chaos children they are (im looking at you meg.)
Hahdjsdk god what a mood. Every time I see an Anna I’m just like “!!! MOM?” And get a hatchet between the eyes rip. And yeah! Meta is right.
For real, for real. Julie and all the Legion kids had some real shit going on. Joey by far had the best home life and family, but even he had a bunch of struggles in school because his family didn’t have time or in many cases experience to help him study, and it was crowded and poor, and because he had no help most kids got, he got treated like he was stupider, and even when he had skills in other areas, everyone at school expected him to perform well at sports and not much else like that was fine & he was meant to be valuable exclusively as an athlete, when he much preferred and actually really liked things like shop and ceramics and building/making stuff. But most people treat trade classes like easy As dumb kids pick (back when shop was still a thing), and like it was a worthless skill, and like. That doesn’t sound as bad as like, being bounced through foster homes as Frank, but pain is relative, you know? Bad is just bad. And things grind on you. It was hard to be taught constantly he was only worth something as a skill he didn’t even really care about, and get treated like he was dumb just because he had less help built in to school than most kids there did. People don’t talk about this much but like, having parents or sibs who help with homework? It’s a huge factor. So is just having family who are college graduates (if you go to college), because first gen student means walking in blind & alone & accountable to no one but bills, and like, college is initially overwhelming with two parents with Masters who are helpful. Any time what you value about you and what you love doesn’t match up with what people who have more power than you tell you is valuable about you/should be your goal, it’s hard. Especially as a teen still trying to like hack out an identity. Overly enthusiastic and impulsive, and has been mocked and hurt and turned on for it, but can’t shut it off. Big heart, but the luck to stand up usually just in time to get laid flat again.
And then Susie, with the parents who don’t care for her or pay her much mind other than disappointed looks and an occasional snap or suggestion or urging to try something different that what she’s doing. Bullied for her sexuality, nervous, and in a small town in the late 90s, probably the only lesbian (at least that she’s aware of existing) in that entire like couple hundred people mountain town, and sort of unbearably alone and misunderstood and isolated feeling. God, feeling like there’s just no one like you are out there is one of the worst feelings, isn’t it? Buried in the things she knows people whisper about her and a thousand tiny microinteractions a day that drain her armor. Loves Julie, but is so isolated Julie is her entire world to an unhealthy, co-dependant, and worryingly usable/manipulatable and non-independent nature for Susie. Because she’s so desperate to keep her she’d do anything not to be alone. But the struggle to never be alone by chasing Julie’s shadow means there’s no time for Susie and her own hopes and dreams and choices and developing personhood. But the worst part is that she’s genuinely happy this way, trailing after the girl she loves, which makes it so hard for either of them to confront and stop even enough to just make it healthy again. But she’s built her whole identity on one person like a precarious janga tower that could fall any second if the wrong piece goes, and that can’t be sustained forever, and who is she when it does crumble?
Then you got Julie, hot, popular, ignored personality disorder, proud parents who want her to keep being ideal and their little princess, than can’t handle her as a teen when she’s not in the box they expected anymore and they can’t just live and be proud vicariously through her all the time. Hit puberty early & dated way too physically way too young with way too much older men. Hit on by teachers, by men three times her age in parking lots. Quickly taught it’s safer to say yes than no and sex and love are a battlefield where you use the other as a stepping stone & the trick is to manurver so you’re okay once it’s over and got something while it went on. Had fun being hot and physically developed young because she suddenly had admirers and people were nice, then realized way too late that it came with constantly being in danger and under pressure to keep performing sexiness, and there wasn’t a livable choice to back out and fail those expectations anymore & be okay in her social circles. Knows she’s not emotional or loving in the way her loved ones are distressed about it, but can’t tell why, and gives up trying to ‘fix it’ and just pretends she doesn’t care and leans into being the sexy bitch and the power that comes with it. Doesn’t even know who she is herself beneath any of the ways she lives anymore, maybe she just is the act, maybe that’s fine. Trusts no one and that’s fine it’s just smart. Caught between liking the power of sex and intelligence and coldness, and the emptiness of not really being somebody. Needs to be loved and idolised and eternally aware how much people would hate her for that if they knew it was the truth, so she just keeps it to herself and makes herself someone they have no choice but to love and adore, so it’ll all be okay. Caught between worried she is cold and unfeeling and selfish and proud, and liking the power that goes with that, and the lack of desire to change, and the fear she doesn’t know how to do it. So she mostly just doesn’t think about any of the turmoil anymore and lives Julie instead of being her.
Then you got Frank, tossed around a myriad of foster homes, stolen by the government from the only one he ever was loved in over race, abused in every way foster parents have learned to abuse the kids they were supposed to love, and convinced since he was a kid that he’s a bad seed and a monster at heart, until he leaned into the violence of that to protect himself when no one else did. Harsh and strong and a fighter, a survivor, lonely and a loner, too much past, no future, not much present. Angry, god, so angry, and nothing to do with it. No skills, or money, or future, or any of it. No love, no family. Just the things he taught himself to survive. Just a good liar, a good fighter, adaptable, fast, tactical, enduring. Knows how to pick locks and lift wallets and hoard food that is least likely to be noticed. How to vanish, how to look real scary and real big, how to get stabbed and get back up, and take a fall, and bide his time. How to find north. Which makes for a good what? A thug, a conman, a drug runner, a loan shark or a hitter or a bouncer maybe? A guard, a killer, a thief? No love, no ties, no one. And only a borrowed, angry, violent sense of self, and all the other versions that didn’t live to adulthood but aren’t quiet dead yet buried beneath it.
God, the opening line to the original lore for Darkness Among Us really was beautiful and memorable. The kind of first line you hope for. “Frank Morrison was ninteen, and had little to show for it.” Like, fuck. It’s so understated, and common, and painfully mundane, but that’s it, that’s his whole life. And how fucking painful that is. To be the end of teenagehood, stepping into adult life alone, and be able to be summed up in just eleven words, as a marker of your lived timespan up to now, and the annotation that you from all of it have gained almost nothing that could be worth any note. I fucking love that line. God. It’s so empty, and cruelly mundane and undramatic and unimportantly scored and marked, like it doesn’t even matter that he’s down nearly two decades of life with nothing worth taking into the next two.
Lord, all the Legion kids really do need help, and therapy, and like, one decent parental figure. Thank god for Jeff. He really is out here doing the real work. Love that man. TuT
And you’re right w Adiris lol. 🤣 It’s a mix of cats and dogs, magbe even. Some of them aren’t trouble, but oh, oh some most definitely are. Side note: I fkn just reallly love cats. Poor Adiris out here tryin her best, and I’m sure she does too.

Good Love {2jae} Chapter Two

In Youngjae’s eyes, Jaebum was the perfect alpha- handsome, protective, grounded, and took care of his small pack very well. But too bad Jaebum doesn’t think he’s the perfect omega- or any omega, for that matter.
or, the one where jaebum thinks a mate will just be a distraction rather than a blessing.
**one**two**three**
Youngjae began to slowly, but surely loosen up as his time at the party began. He and Mark had only been at the part for and hour or so, and Youngjae hadn’t seen a certain alpha yet. Alpha Jackson had greeted them at the door, like the good host that he is- but Youngjae had his eyes wide open looking for Jaebum.
He made his way to the alcohol, which he knew would be in the kitchen like any other party. But when Youngjae arrived at the assortment of alcohol, he had no idea whether he should start off with an easy beer, or go big and start with some soju. Youngjae decided he wanted to be sober when he saw Jaebum. He was determined to have Jaebum in his mouth by the end of the night.
He needed the memory of Mark in his mouth replaced.
The omega walked around aimlessly for awhile. He ran into his friend Baekhyun- who was actually one of his few male beta friends that he knew actively wanted to inhibit his omega side. It wasn’t uncommon but it wasn’t common either. That’s was the great part about the duality of male betas; although they couldn’t directly control whether they took a omegas or a regular betas biology, they had a great influence on it by the persons they surrounded themselves with. Youngjae was glad he didn’t have to make that choice for himself. He knew that as a beta pup he would’ve wanted to be a “normal” beta, but he wouldn’t trade being an omega for anything, now.
Baekhyun was also quite the character and there was never a dull or thoughtless moment. Youngjae blames that on him belonging to a huge pack and being surrounded by such huge personalities. But Youngjae would never know.
“Youngjae-yah! Darling, how are you?!” Baekhyun’s dragged out the last part in English and Youngjae couldn’t help but laugh at the beta.
Youngjae smiled, “I’m good, hyung. How’s your final year going?”
Baekhyun huffed. “Absolutely terrible- expected. But I’m coming back next year to study for what I actually came to this school to study. Wack, if you ask me,” Baekhyun sighed again and was silent for a moment. “School sucks. I’ll fuck the system one day.” Youngjae couldn’t help but cover his mouth as he giggled. The beta was dead serious.
Baekhyun noticed Youngjae’s laughter, even with his futile attempt to hide it. Baekhyun slapped his chest in playful frustration. “I’m serious. They really know how to exploit the young generation and our love for being smart. Everything is damn scam.”
“I know,” Youngjae grinned and pat Baekhyun’s shoulders. Youngjae wondered for a second if Baekhyun had seen Jaebum.
“Hyung, have you seen Jaebum-sunbae?”
The brunette faltered for a second, thinking over if he had seen the alpha. Youngjae internally sighed in relief that Baekhyun hadn’t questioned why. “No I haven’t.”
Youngjae nodded, neither happy or sad. Jaebum has to be somewhere around here. Youngjae shared a few more words with Baekhyun, then bid him farewell, continuing his search for a certain alpha.
After some more walking around, the omega was greeted by Bambam. They said a quick “hi” and exchanged “how are you”’s; Youngjae knew Bambam was the best person to ask if his lead alpha was here.
“Is your whole pack here?” he tried his best to sound nonchalant and smooth.
“Oh yeah,” Bambam suddenly remembered. “Even Jaebum-hyung is here and he, like, never goes to these things. But all his omegas are here so he couldn’t say no.”
Youngjae’s heart was warmed by that. How sweet and protective of Jaebum to drag himself somewhere to an environment he loathed just to watch his omegas. Ugh, that’s just too fucking sweet.
Youngjae nodded and laughed. “Yeah, he doesn’t seem like the party type.” Bambam agreed then excused himself to go get properly shit faced (ok he didn’t say those words exactly but that’s what was implied). Now the omega was once again left alone to his own devices. He sighed to himself in slight defeat. He’s been here for an hour and all he knew was that Jaebum is here but where is the prospect.
So, here he was- walking around the party aimlessly looking for Jaebum. Youngjae had also seen Jackson, again; but he was doing what he did best- being wild and sexy. Youngjae would’ve been lying to himself if he said he didn’t slick up little bit when Jackson ripped of his tank top and poured clear liquid all over himself.
Too many hot alphas, not enough Youngjae. Or maybe…
Youngjae walked back upstairs for only the second time that night. The first time, he was only looking to see if any light where one behind the closed doors and he needed to pee because consuming all this alcohol and soda to ease his nerves had to go somewhere. After he did finish his bathroom business, he checked the hallway before he went back down to the party. All of the doors he checked where off so he called it a dead end and went back down. This time, though he opened each and every door.
There were three doors on one side of the hallway and two on the other side he checked the side with three doors first. Two of them were rooms, both empty, and the middle door was a bathroom, which was also empty.
As Youngjae got closer to the door on the opposite side, and deepest into the hallway, he heard the bed creaking inside. He was silently hoping that he wasn’t about to walk in on two people properly going at it. He was really hoping that one of them wasn’t Jaebum. Youngjae choked at the thought.
The omega took a deep breath as his hand slowly reached for the doorknob. But he faltered slightly as he reached his hand out. His self confidence suddenly took a sharp spike down. What was he thinking that he could hook up with an alpha? Especially since they barely knew each other? Gosh, Youngjae felt so stupid. Jaebum was out of reach and always would be. Why would now be any different?
Youngjae pulled his hand back towards his body and took a step back from the door. He started to fidget with his flannel and shifted his weight back and forth on his feet. Youngjae felt stupid. He wished his confidence and easiness could’ve lasted a little bit longer before his inner demons caught up with his act and shut it down.
All he wanted was the alpha’s cock somewhere in or around him.
He stared at the door for a moment, the creaking had stopped a long time ago. Youngjae was still in his own thoughts, coming down from the determined, sexual High he just felt. And as he started to back away from the door, it suddenly swung open. It all felt slow motion. The breeze from the door swinging open and brushing Youngjae’s hair, the light blinding him compared to the contrast of the dark hallway, and the tall, broad shadow looking over him paired with a familiar minty scent.
“Jaebum-sunbae.” Youngjae bowed out of habit, his eyes wide and shocked like a deer in headlights. He didn’t really have a reason to feel flustered. Or maybe he did.
It was a fact that he’s been looking for the alpha all night with the intent to choke on his dick.
“Youngjae? What are you doing up here?” Jaebum stepped towards the omega. Youngjae noticed the concerned look on his face and internally swooned. How fucking sweet, alpha.
“I, um… I-”
“Are you okay? You don’t look so good.” The alpha bent down to catch eye contact with Youngjae. Youngjae cowered away and bowed again. He wanted sink into the floor and forget he even existed.
“I’m sorry.” He didn’t know why, but Youngjae just felt this urge to apologize to Jaebum.
Jaebum looked Youngjae up and down. In his mind, he was worried Youngjae was in a “vulnerable” state. It’s not that he was personally interested in the young omega, but the good alpha in Jaebum couldn’t fathom the possibilities that could happen to Youngjae in whatever not-normal-state he was in. And he, technically, now knew the omega personally. If anything were to happen to him after their current interaction, Jaebum knew he wouldn’t be able to live with himself.
“No, you’re good. You don’t need to apologize. I just tho-” Jaebum stopped himself when he realized that Youngjae was zoned out and ready to make a beeline down the stairs. He sighed and rubbed Youngjae’s shoulder. “Do you want to come in for a bit? Just to rest.”
Youngjae looked up at Jaebum. Was this his chance? Youngjae wasn’t feeling so confident at the moment, but the opportunity was sitting right there. He knew he would never get chance like this again- plus, he wouldn’t want to regret not going in the future.
Youngjae nodded his head. Jaebum moved aside for him to enter.
The room was average size with a Queen sized bed centered against the wall to Youngjae’s right. Perfect, he thought. He walked over and sat down on it, the bed audibly creaking.
That explained that.
Jaebum awkwardly sat down next to him. The television was playing some variety show with English subtitles. Youngjae was slightly confused by this because he had never seen Jaebum in his English class or around the foreign language building( and Youngjae spent most of his time there so he would know).
“Are you learning English?”
Jaebum shook his head. “Jackson speaks it. But he doesn’t use it as much as he wants to, so he reads it instead.”
Youngjae nodded and let out a quiet “oh”. Then suddenly it was silent, only broken by the animated laugh track of the TV.
Gosh, this was so awkward. In Youngjae’s mind, this whole situation went completely different- but, instead, here he was suffocating in the alpha’s refreshing, spearmint scent.
Youngjae’s brain started to go on overdrive thinking about a smooth way to spice up his and Jaebum’s… situation.
Ding.
“You have a pack right?”
Jaebum looked at Youngjae curiously. He wasn’t weirded out or anything, but he sure wasn’t expecting Youngjae to ask that question.
“Uhm… yea. I do.” Jaebum started to think  of every worst case scenario that could involve his pack and Youngjae’s sudden interest. “Did any of them bother you?”
Youngjae’s eyes widened, “Oh no,” he smiled reassuringly. “I was just wondering…”
“Wondering what?”
“What are your numbers?” Youngjae already knew his numbers. Two alphas, two omegas, and one beta.
Jaebum took a moment to count in his head. He looked up at the ceiling with the cutest focused face Youngjae had ever seen. Jaebum squinted his eyes and let out a breath that almost sounded like a moan (which would be on repeat in Youngjae’s mind forever). After a couple seconds, Jaebum recited the figures.
“Two alphas, one beta, two omegas.” Youngjae nodded with an impressed frown  on his face. “That’s a good number for our age- some might say too much.”
“Yea, I know,” Jaebum scoffed. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Jaebum smiled. He gazed at the ceiling once again, and Youngjae was staring once again. “Besides, it’s not as big as Junmyeon’s.” Youngjae smiles at that. Junmyeon has the largest pack by far. He graduated some years ago, but a lot of his pack still did. He was basically a legend at their school and a meme.
“Do you have a pack? You and Mark?” Jaebum snapped Youngjae out of his thoughts.
“No.”
“Have you ever been in one besides your parents?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
To say Jaebum was surprised was an understatement. He surely thought that as attractive and available Youngjae was, that either Mark or another alpha would’ve laid claim on him. Or maybe because he was always with Mark, that others steered clear of him.  Jaebum wondered if they do it on purpose or if  Youngjae really didn’t even realize.
“Jaebum-sunbae?” The younger spoke up. Jaebum hummed in acknowledgment. “I have two questions for you.”
Jaebum nodded for him to continue.
“Could I just call you hyung? Sunbae makes me feel like you’re, like, an elder elder.”
The alpha laughed at Youngjae’s explanation. Jaebum thought fora moment. He and Youngjae were co-workers and attended the same school for almost   three years. They hadn’t talked much, but Jaebum knew they would be a lot more in the future. It didn’t matter to Jaebum, but, from what little he heard from Bambam, Youngjae liked the whole formalities system. “I don’t see why not.”
Youngjae let out a small sigh of relief. He had reached and finished the first stage of his master plan: become more casual with Jaebum. If he wanted to be looking up at Jaebum from his knees, through his own hooded eyelashes, Youngjae knew he needed to get a move on. Maybe he could play the “alpha help me my heat is near and I trust you” Card. Wait.
Ding.
“I know the omegas in your pack,” Youngjae couldn’t waste any more time. His groove was very slowly coming back the more comfortable he got with the alpha. “Neither of them ever have your scent when they come back from heat.” Youngjae paused to see Jaebum’s face. Jaebum was completely emotionless and patient waiting for Youngjae to finish his statement.
“Why? Do they only depend on the other alphas and beta?”
Jaebum quickly and smoothly replied with a firm, “Yes. I don’t help them with heats.”
Youngjae was slightly confused on how he had gotten Jaebum to trust him so easily and he open about talking about his packs. Lead alphas(or any pack member) usually don’t talk about inner workings and private matters of their pack if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.
“Is there any reason why?” Youngjae realize how comfortable that question was  for someone who was virtually a stranger.
“I’m sorry if that’s too personal a question.” Youngjae corrected himself.
“No, I don’t mind. I trust that you won’t blabber your mouth to the whole world,” Jaebum was looking straight forward but swung his head towards Youngjae and looked him in the eyes. “You don’t seem like that type.”
Then what type is Youngjae? “Oh.”
The omega felt slightly self-conscious at the moment, again. All he wanted to do was suck Jaebum off, but instead, that evil voice in his mind was telling him that “Jaebum has a type and you’re not it”.
“Yea,” Jaebum broke the awkwardness. “It just a choice I made.” Jaebum sounded like there was more to it than just a decision, but Youngjae would save that type of prodding for another time.
“If you don’t mind me asking…” Youngjae pondered for second if he should ask this question. He might as well. “Who helps you with your ruts?”
Jaebum sported a small smirk on his face. He was looking at his feet, in thought about how he should answer that question. The answer was simple, but Youngjae was an aquatinted omega that has never been in his own pack. That fact alone wavered Jaebum’s response.
“It’s complicated.”
Youngjae let out an audible sigh in disbelief. That phrase was so corny and overused and down right unacceptable. He wanted to slap Jaebum across the face for underestimating his ability to understand “complicated” situations.
Youngjae just wanted to suck his dick.
“Do you even touch any of your pack members in that way?” The alpha laughed at Youngjae’s wording for the second time that night.
“I have. Never in heats or ruts, though.”
“Why?”
“They don’t interest me.”
Youngjae was slightly taken back by the alphas response. Of course, he didn’t know what to expect exactly, but it just sounded cold coming from a lead alpha. Jaebum recognized the shocked look on Youngjae’s face and patted his shoulder with a knowing look.
“I told you. It’s different.”
The omega was still in a small state of confusion, and with the lovely alphas hands caressing his shoulder, he suddenly could feel the lust demon from earlier poking at his conscious. It’s now or never.
“Jaebum-hyung.”
“Yes.” Jaebum’s hand was still on his shoulder, but more on his back, now.
“Can I do you a favor?”
The alpha tilted his head. “What favor?”
“We don’t have to ever talk about it or do it again, but I’m gonna be honest; you are like super pretty and that’s really messing with me. And I’m usually not this straightforward, but, goodness gracious, all I can think about right now is how ‘wow, Jaebum-hyung probably goes through his ruts with all this pent up frustration and no way to release it properly’ and honestly? It makes me want to suck your cock and just, dammit, give you a good time. I’m not easy and I wanna save my first helping with a heat for my future mate, but Jaebum-hyung, you’re just so tempting. You are the perfect alpha and you sat here and and just confessed to me that you’re basically a virgin like me and, just, wow. That’s so hot but intimidating but comforting at the same time. It only adds to reasons why I am just really so pliable to fall on my knees and just go to town right now. Gosh I sound like such a slut.”
By the time Youngjae finished his little rant in which he basically confessed his feelings, he was fiddling with his flannel and looking intensely at his thighs. Jaebum’s hand had moved to his middle back in a comforting fashion- but that didn’t comfort Youngjae at all. It irked the omega how he wasn’t getting a reaction.
Say something, hyung. Anything.
The omega was scared to look into Jaebum’s eyes, scared that he just ruined any chance of getting some. But he did it anyway, and Jaebum was the greatest person in the world.
Alpha Jaebum had an almost emotionless expression, but Youngjae, being the psycho weirdo he is, was looking dead straight into Jaebum’s eyes, searching for a sign anywhere. Jaebum was completely silent and just staring right back at Youngjae. Each moment felt like an eternity and he was slowly going insane from Jaebum’s silence.
“I don’t know how to take that.”
Youngjae internally rolled his eyes. He wanted to snap back with a “just lay back and fucking take it, that’s how” but he didn’t wanna ruin this moment with Jaebum. He swallowed dryly and took a deep breath.
“Hyung, can I…can I please, just, do this one favor. Just this one time.”
Jaebum thought for a second. He wasn’t one for random hook ups and doing just anything with anyone (obviously). He wasn’t feeling particularly horny or turned on tonight, nor did he plan to. Youngjae was a beautiful omega who was healthy and willing with a purpose. Jaebum didn’t want to take advantage of that. Especially when he had his own omegas -and demons- that he needed to tend to. Jaebum took an oath within himself at that moment that he couldn’t pursue Youngjae in anyway until his issues with his own omegas was sorted and set.
“I’m sorry, Youngjae,” Jaebum rubbed his back, hoping to ease this rejection. This omega wasn’t a longtime friend, but an alpha rejection hurt either way- even if it really didn’t matter. “I can’t- I have things deeper that make your request unable to be granted.”
Youngjae’s pride was hurt. He stretched out all four of his limbs to admit to his fucking biggest alpha crush in the whole wide world that he was willing and ready to suck him off. He pushed all those negatives thoughts and doubts to the back of his mind and went for it. He fought with himself all day and night whether this party was really worth coming to, and Jaebum made it so. He beat himself up since the minute he spotted this house that he wasn’t worth it but went up those stairs anyways, found Jaebum, offered his being to the alpha- only to be told “no”.
Youngjae was heated.
The omegas breathing became ragged a he sat there. He couldn’t believe the audacity. Youngjae pushes Jaebum’s arm away from him and hastily stood up. He didn’t look at Jaebum at all. He kept his gaze on the floor in front of him as he stood there.
“Youngjae-ah. Please don’t mistake me: I’m-you- you’re a beautiful omega and I wouldn’t hesitate to entertain some fun- but I have things that go deeper. I ca-“
“Shut up, alpha.”
Youngjae had venom and anger coursing through his veins. He could feel his claws digging into hand, his fist were clenched hard. In the back of his mind, he knew it  was slightly unreasonable to be this upset at Jaebum. They had only personally knew each other for a couple days, and Youngjae was already dropping to his knees for the alpha. He knew that him being rejected is slightly his fault for letting his lust get the best of him but he still had the courage to do it. In his current state, it only made sense to him that Jaebum had accepted his offer. But he didn't and Youngjae was mad, hurt, and ready to scream.
“I don’t care what you have to say. I’m hurt. Don’t speak about this ever again. We never met. I never came up here or to this party. You’ve embarrassed me, alpha.” Youngjae looked Jaebum straight in his eyes. Jaebum didn’t know what to do. He felt disrespected by Youngjae mocking his status, but he knew he had nothing else to be angry about. Jaebum knew the power of his words; but the extent of his power? That he didn't know.
Jaebum opened his mouth to speak, but Youngjae put his hand up to stop him. He stalked towards the door through the tense silence. He could hear the blood rushing through his body and his heart thumping hard and fast. Youngjae would go home, shift, and have a good run all by himself.
But, before he left, with the last little bit of confidence he had that wasn’t already crushed by the alpha, he left him with another thought.
“And, also, alpha: I hope you realize that this wasn’t a spur of the moment offer.”
It had been two days since the whole Jaebum fiasco and Youngjae had been in a terrible mood since.
He was grumpy and mean and, according to Mark, a total bitch almost in heat. Youngjae punched the beta hard on his shoulder Saturday morning when he had said that. Mark’s guess was that Youngjae was, indeed, going into heat and his irritably levels were off the charts this time around.on
But it was dismissed because Youngjae’s heat wasn’t due for another month or so. But his heats have always been irregular and inconsistent.
The two of them spent all Saturday morning doing absolutely nothing. Mark’s hangover wasn’t as bad as he expected, and Youngjae’s had been sweated out in his run. So they spent all day just playing some of their favorite video games, surrounded by sweets. Youngjae didn’t like to eat sweet junk food, but he blamed that on Mark’s definite around-the-corner heat.of them
Now it was Sunday, and Youngjae’s attitude still hadn’t let up. The beta was getting progressively annoyed with how the omega was just being plain mean towards him for no reason. Mark didn’t have any clues as to what could’ve set Youngjae off into some kind of tempered child-like persona, but he needed to find out and fix it. He has taken care of the ball of sunshine since before they barely presented and he’d be damned if he didn’t do it now, even if he was tempted to just curse the younger out whenever he snapped at him.
“Youngjae-ah?” Mark knocked on Youngjae’s door. It was almost noon and he hadn’t come out yet. Usually they would got to the market early and get groceries for the week; but Youngjae had been MIA all morning.
Mark didn’t hear anything from inside, so he invited himself in and walked into Youngjae’s small room.
The omega was buried under his covers, only his light brown hair being visible. He was curled into a ball towards the wall and he just looked so cute. Mark smiled wide at the sight. He wasn’t attracted to Youngjae in that way, but it was hard to ignore how attractive and cute the omega is.
Mark walked over and sat on the edge of Youngjae’s bed, lightly shaking him awake. Youngjae stirred a little bit, the white comforter falling of his face. He looked so angelic like a model right now, Mark could cry at the sight. Youngjae should seriously considered a career in modeling.
“Youngjae?” Mark called again, this time the omegas eyes slowly squinted open at his voice. “We need to talk. Like, asap.”
Youngjae heard and understood him. He nodded and let out a yawn. He slowly sat up, his bones cracking from being in the uncomfortable position. He yawned again, stretching his arms and cracking his neck. Mark gave him a small smile when Youngjae looked at him. “What did you want to talk about?”
“You’ve been grumpier lately. Is something wrong? Did I do something?” Mark looked at Youngjae, trying to convey that he wasn’t coming from a negative place but rather a supportive, worried one.
Youngjae shook his head. “No, you didn’t do anything.”
“Then what’s wrong?”
Youngjae huffed and his shoulders slumped forwards. He knew he would have to tell Mark eventually what a shit show Friday night was, but he didn’t think it would be right here, right now, right when he woke up. He hoped to have a chance to age another forty years before he had to talk about it.
He huffed again, rubbed his eyes, and looked straight at his hands. They were playing with the comforters threading, trying to distract Youngjae’s mind from his stress. He breathed again before he spoke. “I saw Jaebum-sunbae at the party Friday. It was a total disaster and I hate that there feels like there’s no coming back from it. It sucks, hyung. I made a fool of myself. I- I just...”
Mark stayed silent, taking in what Youngjae revealed. He knew Jaebum would be at the party and he knew Youngjae would see him, maybe, at some point and Mark knew that it could go either good or bad.
He prayed that it would’ve turned out good. Obviously he didn’t pray hard enough.
“Don’t think like that. It’s not the end of the world because of a bad first hangout.” Mark encouraged. Youngjae only cut his eyes at Mark for the corny line he just delivered.
“He rejected me.” Youngjae ripped the bandage off.
“Was it serious, or was it over spilled milk?”
“It was serious. It hurt my pride, confidence, everything...”
“Well that definitely changes things.” Mark thinks out loud. The omega only shrugged. He was over it all.
“I’ve never felt so… so crushed before. I know any rejection from an alpha hurts, it’s only natural. But… you know: Jaebum is different for me.” The omega tried to explain further.
“What did you offer?”
Youngjae froze at that question. How did he tell his best friend, brother that he was offering to gag on an alpha’s dick? Just how was he supposed to do that? The answer?
Not at all.
“Something a little more not like something I would do.” Youngjae explained. Mark looked at him, silently telling him to elaborate more. Youngjae sighed. He guessed he would have to tell Mark after all.
“I offered to… to, uhm, you know… just blow him or whatever.” Youngjae slowly hesitated. It’s not that he was embarrassed about offering a blowjob because, hell, the last real cock he had in his mouth was Mark’s- and that was two years ago. He and Mark knew everything about each other, so it wasn’t that actual offer he was shy about- more so, it was the person.
The one person he could absolutely not handle rejection from.
“Really?” Mark leaned back. He blinked his at Youngjae, making sure what he just said was real and not his mind jumbling up words. “You really stood there and just… said ‘hey, jaebum, let get down in my knees for you’ just like that?” Youngjae nodded his head, trying to force back the grin from Mark’s words.
Mark didn’t know what to do or say. Obviously, the alpha told the omega “no” and that hurt the omega. But, then Mark remembered how faulty Youngjae felt prior to even entering the house. He knew Youngjae’s biggest weakness was that he didn’t handle rejection well from anyone, let alone the alpha he’s been pining for for his whole entire college life. Mark knew that Youngjae must’ve fought hard with himself to be that bold and, basically, confess his feelings to the alpha. Mark understood now why Youngjae would be so upset with the world. He must’ve felt like he was a fool and all the gods were laughing at him.
Mark cleared his throat. “I know that it must’ve been huge for you, but don’t be mad at everyone else because of Jaebum’s rejection.”
Youngjae only glanced at the beta.
“Do you think… do you think there’s no chance anymore?” Youngjae wish he could forget and move on from the alpha, oh he so wishes he could. But, no matter how much he wanted to, Jaebum has always been at the forefront of his mind and had continued to be the last two days.
“What did he say when the whole thing went down?”
Youngjae told mark the whole scenario, from beginning to end with all the details. Mark didn’t interrupt at all; he kept all his thoughts to himself and just let Youngjae talk. The only reaction Mark gave was his facial expressions, which didn’t change much if not at all- and Youngjae was internally grateful for that. He was judging and criticizing himself enough, and even though Mark isn’t the type to judge (especially Youngjae), he was still grateful for Mark just staying quiet.
When Youngjae had finished explaining, Mark understood the situation even more. “… So, do you think that it’s impossible for me to come back from that? I know it was disrespectful of me to mock him like that and childish for me to walk out but I was just so mad, hyung.”
“I would be to,” Mark agreed. “But I think you should talk to him tomorrow.”
Youngjae let out a sigh of disagreement. He was happy the beta gave him some hope (even if his yes or no didn’t matter), but Youngjae wasn’t that naïve. Jaebum probably hated him. Youngjae was a foolish, stupid omega. Jaebum deserves better. “I don’t think I can.”
“And why not?”
“Not only do I just feel some type of way but I disres-“
“That doesn’t matter. Every alpha knows the power of their rejection over an omega, especially one that’s interested in them. He knows this. He’ll forgive you.” Mark had grabbed Youngjae’s shoulders, forcing him to look Mark in the eyes. They were sitting across from each other, so it was hard to avoid in the first place. But Youngjae was a master at avoiding eye contact.
“Please don’t sulk anymore. Please talk to him tomorrow before his shifts starts and get it over with,” Mark paused. Youngjae furrowed his eyebrows at him. “And be nice… understand him just as you want him to understand you.”
Mark was such a grandma. Youngjae loved it.
“Okay. I’ll try,” Youngjae smiled. He started to grow tired of all the sappy talk. “Let’s go out for breakfast.”
Mark almost got whiplash at Youngjae’s mood change. He could’ve pondered it and talked some more, but he hadn’t eaten breakfast yet and a nice American brunch sounded so good right now.
“Alright. Let’s go.”
