quenchion. will your requests be open again eventually or are they closed for good? some mysmes blogs have been shutting down so i’m just curious
Hey, thank you for asking!
This is something that I’ve been thinking about for quite a while, honestly. The conclusion I’ve come to: I don’t know. I do have a long answer if you aren’t satisfied with this short one though. It’s below this since I tried to put a “Keep reading” about 5 times but it wouldn’t go, so I’ll tag it as “long post”. It does get pretty, mmm, idk, “whiny”? “Bitchy”? But it’s something I’ve needed to say for a while so!
--------------------------------------------
I very obviously use this blog because it’s my main one (so replies/sending inboxes, I kinda have to use this blog) but as far as posting goes, it’s only every now and again.
I really love writing for Mysme and I’ll get bursts of inspiration every now and again and I’ll write a little drabble thing and post it! But because they never gain any traction and will get very little notes (sometimes it takes days to even get one) as opposed to my blogs (and the fandoms) prime a few years ago where likes would pop up faster than I could clear my notifs-- it’s disheartening and I makes me not want to write here anymore.
Like sure I do understand the fandom’s dying (if not already dead) and it is my fault for stepping back for my own mental health and therefore not keeping up with newer blogs/writing/things of the sort which caused people to leave (which they have every right to do so! and that’s their decision!), but as a writer, my only chance at getting (motivation among my irl life) and recognition is through reblogs and things like that. Lack of that makes it really difficult to want to keep writing if no ones gonna see it.
Requests drained me, absolutely. And I’m going to be completely honest here-- some of them were repetitive and impossible to write for and I couldn’t bring myself to do them. Especially near the end of it all, people started to be extremely fucking rude and treated me as though I were some sort of writing machine instead of a human being; I got a lot more rude messages behind the scenes about my slowing responses and dropping quality with complete disregard to my personal life and declining health. I tried too hard to write too quickly and stay relevant, so my quality dropped. People pretty much cancelled me over my personal opinions, because I wasn’t friends with the “right” people (which? cliques? in a fandom? that’s dumb, we’re all one clique so my friends shouldn’t matter to others) and because I wasn’t capable of churning out THEIR ideas for FREE and that’s fucking... disrespectful. It is, and it’s very hurtful. It’s the MAIN reason I haven’t accepted requests or really written anything Mysme related in god, what, a year? Two years? Trust me, I’m beyond thankful for those who stick around and reread my old stuff (even if I’m embarrassed by the quality!! because at the very beginning it was the first time I really wrote requests!! my quality is much better now and it’s all because I was able to work on it and grow by doing all those requests!) and I’m thankful for those who discovered my blog later on! I’m thankful for the recognition I have previously received and I’m thankful for all of my friends.
And I do want to make it clear, dear nonny, that I’m not looking to take my anger or anything out on you! You’ve simply given me a reason to sit down with my thoughts and explain it to the world. So, thank you. It’s something that’s been weighing on me for a very long time.
As far as requests go-- maybe I’ll open them up again at some point. Maybe I’ll take prompt requests instead to avoid things getting too redundant or boring! Maybe I’ll take some sort of AU ideas-- I do enjoy writing fantasy!au’s for BNHA after all, so maybe I’ll do something similar for Mysme! I’ve been focusing more on other fandoms that interest me (I have both a side blog for BNHA specifically, and a multifandom writing one where I’ve posted Fruits Basket, Persona 5, and Food Fantasy so far)-- because they’re written based on ideas I want to write, they come out quicker and I honestly don’t care about lack of notes there. But because there’s 6,000+ people on this blog, I think something I spent at least a day or two writing deserves more than about 4 notes and that’s probably my ego talking but at this point I do not care(tm) because as a content creator, I have previously explained, it is something that motivates us to go above and beyond for those reading.
All of the above factors are what stops me from taking requests on this blog. I’m sorry it was such a long answer (and I’m sorry it came off bitchy!), but it’s something that needed elaboration on my end because I do still get asked a lot and I do think about it on my own time as well.

Hi! I’m Kenzi Corinne
And I have a lot of art and stories I want to share with you!
That's a big reason why I want to start making weekly journals. Starting today, I’ll be posting a weekly recap of everything I’m working on and plan to work on. This includes the status of my web comic Folk Knight, my visual novel MuseStruck, and all the work I’m doing for upcoming conventions (I hope to see some of you there!)
After this week, the blog entries will be a lot more digestible. But I feel, for this first one, I just need to lay everything out.
So, before the break, I just want to say my asks are open! Feel free to shoot me a question/comment about anything. (Fav ice cream, Hogwarts house, w/e!)
Later!
-Kenzi
Kenzi Blog: Week of 4/2/18
Oh, hey! I’m surprised you clicked “Keep reading.” I mean, I’m glad you did! Makes me feel less like I’m just shouting this to the void... heh ^_^;
Conventions:
Anyway, let’s just dive right in with the most time sensitive item I’ve been working on, convention prep. I’ve got three cons coming up in the next two months *sweats profusely* . This may not sound like a lot for you (or maybe it sounds like an insane “con crud” induced death wish haha) but I am equal parts super excited and super nervous about this! Upcoming cons are:
RavenCon, April 20-22 Williamsburg, VA
Tidewater Comicon, May 11-12 Virginia Beach
Animazement, May 25-27 Raleigh, NC
So I do my printing on my own printer. To save money this time, I’ve decided to try out a Refillable Ink Cartridge system. Which involves...... lots of syringes I guess? Haha, I think I accidentally ordered too many or something so now I just have an abundance of large needle syringes 0_0 (also note they’re a special kind for ink. not the pokey skin kind :P). Syringe Wolverine cosplay?
Tumblr media
Anyway, if any of you have tried out RIC or CISS in the past, I’d love to know how it did or didn’t work for you!
MuseStruck:
Okay, so before I talk about my current project, Folk Knight, I think I need to talk about MuseStruck (my other baby). So a couple years ago I suddenly got the urge to make a Visual Novel (gee, wonder where I got that idea... *side glances at Steam catalog* >_>). This VN had inspiration pulled from a lot of my favorite things including fantasy, mythology, classic literature, art, and anime.
Then a year ago, @cornpickerart and I started working on it... and quickly saw the project balloon to a size we weren’t ready for. We thought about cutting back ideas, some trimming was to the story’s benefit really. But then there were aspects that we couldn’t let go. Things that I felt were integral to the story or game experience that we wanted to make.
So. Here’s the thing. We just realized we needed to try smaller things first and work up to the type of gameplay we want to have in MuseStruck. Baby steps. That being said. MuseStruck isn’t dead. Far from it.
I draw characters from MuseStruck still all the time. Though I’ve told myself to not dedicate so much time to writing stories for it and instead put that time and energy into bettering my skills in both art and programming. Now I can say that when I do get back to MuseStruck (which I do have a plan for when that will happen, but I’ll save that for another journal) I know I’ll be more confident and prepared to tackle it! \(^o^)/
Tumblr media
(some sketches of MuseStruck characters that I’ve never posted... I have lots of files like this ^_^;)
Folk Knight:
And finally there is Folk Knight. If you made it this far then... wow. I think I might love you. Anyway, this is my current project that I am working on. I would say probably my time is split 50/50 with this and con stuff right now.
Originally I wanted it to be a web comic. Why a web comic? Well... it’s something I’ve done before. @cornpickerart and I ran a web comic back in high school that we stopped once we went of to different states and different colleges.
I wanted to tell a story that takes place in the MuseStruck universe but with a lot less overhead work and a shorter story altogether. So, Folk Knight was born! Well, so it was supposed be but then I realized something... I don’t want to do a web comic. Le gasp!!!
I actually read a ton of webcomics and enjoy the weekly experience and appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping them up. Seriously! It’s tough stuff! But after a few updates I realized that making the comic was taking a lot of time... and I wasn’t feeling it. Gosh that sounds whiny doesn’t it? I guess what I’m trying to say is, I figured out if I was going to put that much work into something, I want it to be something I want to do. And what I want to do is make a stinkin’ Visual Novel danggummit!
So that’s what brings us to the Folk Knight of now... a serial Visual Novel!
Tumblr media
So it’s kinda a combination of both. Baby steps remember? To keep the game making doable for me, I’ll be releasing the Folk Knight VN in chapters. Every chapter will be released free to play, just like the web comic would have been free to read.
I’ve already begun the conversion of my Chapter 1 script into the Visual Novel format and am working with a few beta readers/players to help me work out the story flow and gameplay.
I’m hoping to get a Chapter 1 demo done by the end of April and Chapter 1 completed and released officially by May! I know it’s a tight deadline but I’m seriously pouring all my blood, sweat, and time into this now!
Next Week:
Ooooookay! We finally come to the end of it! What I plan to do this coming week. Well, let’s see... maybe I should just list it? I hope to...
Post some Folk Knight character designs  (get y’all introduced)
Finish two fantasy/horror paintings I’ve been working on
I have a backlog of BNHA fan art I should finish too...
Test out the new print system!
Aaand I think I should keep it at that. Don’t want to overdo it. If anyone’s still reading this, like I said, not every journal entry is gonna be a monster like this. I just... had a lot to get off my chest to get this journal thing rolling ^_^;
You are amazing and I wish you the best in all your creative endeavors!(seriously, you got something you’re working on you want to share, hit me up! I love hearing others stories or finding new comics to read, games to play!)

Hey hey hey, so I've seen your lack of Bokutoo art (or haikyuu art in general) and at first I was going to comment on it, but then I saw your art theft post and I hope that won't have too much influence on your haikyuu art? Of corse I'm gonna let you post whatever you'd like to post, I just miss it a lot y'know :0
Well. Okay, I’ve talked about this a lot but I understand people don’t just read all my answers and it’s totally my fault for procrastinating on that faq page so let me just go through this again in an as clear way as possible?
I haven’t stopped drawing for hq! As a matter of fact in the last week alone I have posted one, two and three things for that fandom for a total of five portraits and a three panels comic
That said I understand with the rhythm I update this blog you might think “well, that isn’t much at all, is it?”, which, again, is my fault because - even though when compared to most art blogs’ update schedules eight drawing in one week is more than enough - I’m the one who set the rhythm here
The “problem” with hq is that all my favorite characters are currently absent from the manga and there’s no anime airing, while at the same time my other main fandom (bnha) has both an interesting arc going on in the manga AND an anime season airing right now - I hope you’ll understand if my interest at the moment is mostly focused there, that’s a continuous stream of inspiration I have coming my way
To add to that some parts of the Haikyuu!! fandom are being unrespectful of what I post (this includes reposting, treating my stuff as if it were templates for their own art instead of ship/character specific content, honestly unrespectful comments and tags under a lot of my main ships posts and so on) which, you’ll excuse me, but dampens the joy I get from posting art a lot
Moreover, the creative side of the hq fandom is being, at least for what concerns the zones I frequent, pretty damn quiet lately, so I can’t say I get much inspiration from there either
I haven’t stopped and I can’t see in my foreseeable future myself stopping posting stuff for haikyuu!!, and all things considered I don’t think I’m posting too little for it either? Art and inspiration aren’t things I want to force, if I started I would stop finding drawing enjoyable really damn fast and I can’t let that happen - please be understanding, I first and foremost draw for myself, I can’t help it if sometimes I get stuck on one fandom or another
Anon said: Have you seen the latest chapter of haikyuu? I like how they are showing more Daishou. It’s fun to see his reactions and thoughts about nationals! And I will love to see him in your art style.
Anon, my friend!!! I have drawn Daishou in the past! As a matter of fact the last one was just after he appeared again in chapter 251! I love that snake boy a lot, seeing him there made me really really happy haha

SHE WAS AMAZING WASN’T SHE OH MY G O D !!!
Anon said:Kirishima and/or Bakugou being good at singing. And then gay happens.
BOI ANON I have drawn these boys singing to each other a whole lot already (like here or here) at this point I would assume you guys were fed up with it hahaha (… can’t say I won’t ever have them sing to each other again, though)
Anon said:DADZAWA IS SO REAL! But I’m actually so amused because Izuku is basically Ron Swanson with his “I can do what I want” permit except Aizawa wrote and signed the permit
No no anon it’s even better because Aizawa wasn’t like “you can do what you want” he was like “you can do only what I tell you you can do and it just so happens that I’m deciding that you can do exactly what you want to do but it’s still my decison” it was amazing lmao I love Aizawa so much poor man
Anon said:friendo, whats your opinion on the traitor kaminari theory? it breaks my heart but it has a good backbone to it?? like in the new chapter, theres a character that looks like kaminari’s dad/uncle/older family member and im worried for my electric baby
I still don’t think Kaminari is the traitor - as a matter of fact, I still don’t think the traitor is any of the kids. If that’s how it’ll turn out to be I’ll be sad about it, for sure, but right now I really, really don’t believe it. It’s true that the Kaminari-is-the-traitor theory is very cleverly worded and super convincing, but a lot of the things in it are really stretched out as far as I’m concerned
ie, taking the weird faces Horikoshi makes him make in the sketches and using them as proof that he’s got a double face? Too far out for me; his original design being that of a villain? Deku’s original design was villain-ish too, no one is calling him a traitor; taking the expression he made when Aizawa told him he could go to the camp and making it sound like he didn’t want to go? Might be believable as long as you don’t take into account the fact that he had just had a conversation with Midoriya in which he told him it was impossible Aizawa would let them go and that Midoriya was just being too optimistic, the “what the actual fuck is this” expression makes a lot more sense in that context; the fact that he makes clever quotes and uses a complex vocabulary used to say that he’s pretending to be stupid is unfair towards the very real possibility of him just not liking studying or thinking things through analytically but otherwise enjoying reading and being fairly intelligent in his own way?? - in the theory it’s also mentioned that it’s weird how during USJ he was worried about an electricity villain overcharging him as if that’s not perfectly normal, having an electricity quirk obviously doesn’t stop him from suffering overcharges, and later during the end of term exam they say it’s “weird” he refused to go all out with his qurik from the start, again, as if that weren’t a perfectly sensible decision in that context (you have to keep in mind that Kaminari is also studying to become an hero, him going “wait a second, maybe keeping on going stupid and putting myself out of commission every time I fight isn’t the right choice” is perfectly in line with him growing up and learning)
Now I don’t have the post open in front of me and it’s been a while since I’ve read it, but most of the theory as far as I get it is based on the idea that Kaminari can’t be lazy and an airhead and might talk without thinking now and again (the Stain comment), but at the same time be clever in his own ways, which just isn’t convincing for me. It’s taking this character’s three dimensionality and making it a plot-hole, why would you want to do that
(on a similar note, the Kirishima-is-the-traitor theory doesn’t convince me for the same kind of reason, it’s all based on the idea that he can’t just genuinely like Bakugou for who he is without having second reasons for it, which is just unfair and cuts too much off the personality of a really good, well written character)
As far as the new villain guy goes, I understand why most of the fandom might be weary and linking him to Kaminari, but we don’t know his color scheme nor his quirk and the pattern on his hair isn’t even a lightning bolt - Horikoshi has had to make up unique designs for a whole damn lot of characters, the fact that one random guy might have something similar to Kaminari isn’t really enough to make him his dad (again, it might turn out to be true, but in my opinion it’s still too early to make theories about it). Also, this guy is from the Eight Precepts. Weren’t you all trying to link Kaminari to the League of Villains? Isn’t the traitor supposedly tied with the League? How many people is this boy working for even
By the way, during the USJ attack the villains had informations they couldn’t have gotten from any of the kids aside from Midoriya (the “they told me All Might was getting weaker” comment) and tbh that’s enough for me to not believe any of the student is behind the informations leak, but all of this is just my opinion
Anon said:Your thoughts on mob psycho 100??
LOVE IT  one of the best anime I’ve watched lately, without any doubts
Anon said: Being a bokuroo artist? More like drawing art but every time someone says brOTP, you get steadily more annoyed, lol - love your art, btw; you have a really cute and fluffy style
Yyyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhh… sadly you kind of grow used to it but it is incredibly annoying and one of the reasons why I’ve been drawing it less, t b h
Anon said:I love the concept of the bakubowl because unlike with other characters where everyone’s like “omf they’re so cute!!” the bakubowl is just “why is he like this. why do we ALL like him for this ffs”
WELP I don’t ship Bakugou with everyone so I can’t say I’m fond of the idea as a whole, and the ships I do ship Bakugou in are with the people that actually do like him for whatever reason (lmao), but I can understand why you’d find it a fresh take on the concept!
Anon said:Ily your art gives me life
AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! *O*
