might sound weird to say as a person with a couple ocs who have Big Horrible Event(s) in their backstories or as a person who has like 3 ocs total bc he sucks at writing and as a person who hopes their ocs arent too Boring with [the thing im about to mention] but the thing about writing [characters] and [people] is that like.

any little thing a person experiences can take up their whole existence... its actually something "fun" to experience as i meet new ppl and do more things. My friend had something happen that she'll be talking about forever. I had several things happen last year that ill never stop talking about, some of which other ppl think werent that bad actually. In the same way I'll forever remember about the way my sister accidentally insulted me almost 10 years ago, it's really interesting and Fun to find and assign smaller things like that to characters...its really Real. some people's dealbreakers are other people's solvable problems etc etc

I think i'm at the point where the only bg3 character that I actually dislike is Mizora (used to hate Lae'zel and think Shadowheart and Wyll were boring, have seen the light since)

And even her i think i could come to like if the game actually gave her some proper shit?? Or the community? She sucks and is horrible to a character i really like but then again, so are Cazador and Gortash and i love them

Would probably feel differently if we had Cazador seductively holding Astarion on the main fucking promo poster. Or if we could never properly tell him to fuck off. Or if he found a way to slime himself into the camp and stand right next to Astarion and try to fuck you just to fuck with the camp's relationships. And then never get any real shit for it!!

YEA LETS GO EX-FRAMING DEPARTMENT they never even got around to teaching me production it was all wrapping and taking orders :/ Idk how it is at other shops but we only had 3 people working the whole frame shop. One person did ALL the frame assembly and us other two handled everything else. Was absolutely not worth $11/hr. man fuck retail. FUCK Design Hub too, if I may

#id come in for my like 4 hour shift and would have to run + close shop which included wrapping #wrapping storing calling for all orders done plus get all yhe frames lined plus unpack and clean up all the new frames coming in all by #all by the end of the night PLUS frame shop had to clean the bathrooms every night #plus actually running the front desk and taking orders and sometimes ppl would take hours picking matts that would cut into the time i had #to have everything else finished PLUS if i for some reason had everything done on time theyd make me run sales floor too #it was insane all the stuff they had me learn for such shit pay like. and #never work michales but never do it around the holidays more important #you will never escape the glitter #all that and my framing manager never got around to teaching me how to assemble a frame. #at least it was nice to hide in the frame shop so i wasnt talking to customers 24/7 but still #customers treat you so horribly like i was sweeping once and this lady comes up to me like saying the bathroom was disgusting right #and i get it. it was always disgusting. but we did clean it every night. anyway its hard when you cant just tell people that 1. #1 we clean them every night so if theres a huge mess in it most likely it was another shopper who pissed on the floor just cuz. #and 2 they only give us a mop and some pine sol to clean the whole 2 bathrooms every night. dont blame me blame michals lol #everything else was just so stupid #i wanna know how many framing department ppl everyone else had because we had 2 part time and 1 full time and i was only there a few months

not to be political but I've seen a lot of people saying that those who call Israel an apartheid don't know what they're talking about and um. As someone who has studied South African apartheid as well as grown up in a Jewish community. This claim has more merit than you think

How would one find work at a library when they just...aren't qualified or don't have the relevant experience? I'd love to work at one but I don't have a relevant degree or experience in the field (mostly because they keep rejecting my applications and then ghosting me). I know if given the opportunity I could learn how to do the various jobs at a library, I just have trouble getting into the field without a degree.

people ask me this quite a bit and I really don't know what to say because I don't have an MLIS and neither do most of my coworkers. only like 1/10th of our employees have it honestly. I only have an associates degree in mathematics. and honestly, I'm really sorry to say, the only other way to get your foot in the door really is to volunteer. I volunteered at the library that I now work for A LOT as a teenager so I was able to use the librarians I got to know as references when I started applying to library jobs, and I was able to speak to my experiences working within the library

basically the only other thing is starting at the absolute bottom of the totem poll, which I also did even with my volunteer experience. this is usually going to be a library page position. pages are generally the lowest paid, most manual labor job because they reshelve returned books. so it's a lot of lifting and pushing tens or hundreds of pounds of books around all day

unfortunately there's nothing else I can really tell you, there's not really a magic key to working here. volunteering and having a clean record (like, don't apply if you have a bunch of fines on your account) are really the only ways to get ahead at all. even having an MLIS isn't gonna help you much these days without having any experience like that

#also this isnt to be mean to people who have it but library degrees are like waaaay overhyped and largely exist as a class barrier #because in order to get one you have to waste at least 4 years getting a completely irrelevant degree then be able to afford 2 more yrs #i kinda wouldnt recommend getting one til youve worked in an actual library for a while first to give some perspective #and id only do it if you have a specific library position in mind #please do not waste your time and money getting a degree just because you want to work in a library #you need to know what exactly you want to aim for because positions are few and far between #also one last little secret: working at a library reallllllly fucking sucks in A LOT of ways #i love what we do and i love my coworkers but i fucking hate my job lmao #MANY libraries across the country (including mine) are controlled by boards made up of local wealthy business people #and all of the higher ups are extraordinarily out of touch #pay is exceedingly low and it is A LOT of very hard work. its not sitting around reading all day #you have to deal with the public in ways that i promise you no amount of retail experience could ever prepare you for #which is why you have to really really want it. so many people quit within a couple years
