Internship Review
So far my internship with the Point Park Athletic Department has been a blast. These past few weeks I have been immersing myself in the world of athletics through the business side, social media, assisting game day operations, and many more. I have been specifically working with the Assistant Athletic Director and I have been doing many different things. I have assisted with statistics during competitions, I have been helping with social media updates, and I have been learning and experiencing what goes into a typical gameday at a university, and lastly I have been spending some time within the office accomplishing various tasks that include recruiting, and other office related affairs. I am about 3 weeks into the internship and I believe I have been gaining some quality on hand experience in the field I would love to work in one day!! I look forward to what this internship entails in the future, and I hope to continue the hands-on experience. I would like to get more into the administration of college athletics and get more behind-the-scenes looks at what goes on. :)

Mastery Assignment
My expectations for the Business Plan Development class were secular and dependent upon business plans and business models. I initially believed that the class was going to be about solving the many problems entrepreneurs face when starting their new careers as business owners. I also looked forward to learning how to defeat the curse of going into debt as a first-time business owner. I learned through doing research like target market, the competition, and marketing plan and sales strategies. I also did a S.W.O.T. analysis on my company that I will be starting called Action Showbiz Production Company.
My insight, skill, and outcome changed during the program because, of the in-depth analysis, I’ve learned how to do because of the instructions given by the course director Mr. Steven Burhoe. Also, the course content helped by reading different books and viewing different YouTube videos of entrepreneurs and the many implementations they used to become successful in the field of business. One video that stands out is Spanxx owner Sarah Blakely. https://medium.com/better-marketing/10-marketing-lessons-from-sara-blakely-6ad1a9ce1949 Sara explained the many obstacles she overcame by being innovative with her marketing plans.
What I learned from this class is it’s not just what you learn from the books but how your dedication to success could empower you as a businessperson by going above and beyond the call of duty to push yourself ahead of the competition. Research is key to having a great business. I also learned that , you can be successful by putting together great business plans to present to investors, because there are people that help you with capital but, if you have a mediocre business plan or no business plan, your company will fail to raise enough money to turn a profit in the first year and endure the first year of investments.
I will continue to educate myself on business plans, business models, and business analysis, so that I won’t lose my zeal for having my own successful business. I will also continue to work hard on building ideas to obtain enough capital to make my bossiness as successful as any other successful businesses.
