OOO WAIT WHATRE YOUR HCS FOR INTERN VANESSA i love her so bad

Please bare in mind none of my hcs are based in canon and few may contradict it! I care more about Vanessa than timelines or canon <3 a lot are about the initial strex takeover of desert bluffs which is something I think about daily!! Most of these include some other strex character because I can’t shut up!

Okie dokie so! Vanessa and Kevin were friends before strex, and when she started interning at the radio station they would just chat during the weather.

When strex starting it’s whole takeover shenanigans Vanessa was absolutely opposed to it and was part of some protests to try and get them out. She was quite severely injured from trying to stop them just as kevin was from putting himself in front of the radio station and after that they tried to help each other and stitch up any deep wounds. They were both against strex and didn’t back down or break until later.

During working for strex she played messenger pigeon for Lauren and Kevin (who I’ve decided used to be a lot more opposed to each in the first months of strex than we get introduced to them) and would go up to Lauren like “hi yeah so Kevin says fuck you, by the way” (Daniel also played messenger pigeon but mostly for Lauren, why? Because I said so that’s why)

She didn’t fully support strex even when working there but got on with the work to avoid the punishments for not doing so. She had pretty much given up with rebellions and had opted for self preservation as well as trying to keep co-workers she didn’t hate out of trouble.

She and Daniel are good friends and there isn’t much to this one I just decided it!

There’s a tape somewhere of her and Kevin before strex, you know, Magnus archives style (/ref, the tape Jon has from the surprise birthday if you have heard tma!) but she hid it away during the takeover and then she couldn’t find it again, but it’s there! Somewhere.

She was on good terms with basically the whole town pre-strex and during the initial protests she convinced many people to be against them (which ultimately failed as we know but shshsh).

She was outspoken and loud and she lost a big portion of her attitude when strex took over, mainly to avoid injury or getting her friends in trouble.

She was quite jarred by the changes in behaviour of everyone around her, it didn’t happen particularly fast thought and she had to watch her friends become work drones. She obviously worked for strex herself but the brainwashing hadn’t been as brutal on her. (Strex didn’t think it was necessary as she was willing to do the work without).

She’s definitely queer in some way I don’t make the rules I just make the rules.

Pre-strex she was pretty positive but not in a toxic positivity strex way, but in a positive nihilism way. She thought if nothing mattered than just have a bit of fun.

Definitely had an active tumblr account I’m just objectively correct on this one! Probably still kept it running during strex and posted shitposts about what happened in work hours. Url has nothing to do with her name is may just be some numbers or a key spam who knows! If you back far enough there’s one of those information posts about what strex was trying to do.

She didn’t hate Lauren as much as Kevin but she was pretty passive aggressive to her.

Strex tried to cut her a smile like with Kevin but they missed and she has a wound similar to Kevin’s but it’s above her mouth, like on her cheek. Goes pretty deep and didn’t have time to heal before she died.

Strex doesn’t hold funerals it deems them a distraction and not very productive. But Kevin and Daniel had a moment, they couldn’t bury her but they held what was effectively a funeral after work and swore to not tell on each other, Lauren attended too even though Kevin hated her guts and she wasn’t really friends with Vanessa. She was bothered in a very casual way, she said it was the polite thing to do. She didn’t tell either and they don’t know why (as she’d normally take the opportunity to snitch)

Saw a fic once where Vanessa was a ghost and stuck around and yeah I wholeheartedly accept that idea and it makes me less sad so yeah! Fuck it! Ghost Vanessa!
