She really needed to stop getting herself into these messes. But, Lois decided, as she knocked out one of her attackers, she hadn’t exactly been expecting her dry cleaners to be a front- for what, she was still figuring out. All she had been doing was trying to get her jacket before they closed and got distracted by the suspicious noises coming from the back of the building. She investigated, only to come face to face with some very shady looking people who now wanted her dead for hearing more than she should’ve. It hadn’t exactly been in her evening plans. Jabbing her elbow into the gut of a man who had grabbed her from behind, she stepped on his foot, digging her heel into his toes, and got the separation she needed when he winced and stepped back, using the distance to take him out as well. But at the familiar sound of a gun cocking, she realized that her luck may have run out and there was no time to call for help. Before he could fire, he was taken down too, and so were his remaining friends, all of them tied together in a flash. Her hero turned out to be a woman dressed head to toe in black leather, a mask covering the top half of her face. She was shorter than Lois, petite with black hair and a smile that looked way too familiar. In fact her whole presence seemed to ring a bell, but Lois couldn’t place her.    “Are you okay?”

Yue Qingyuan goes into a Qi Deviation and loses his memories. As a way to try and recollect them, he went thru his belongings and found a couple dozen scrolls carefully stored away and found they are all love letters signed to someone named “Xiao Jiu”. He continues to write, hoping he’ll remember this person he loves so dearly.

Years pass, and almost all his memories have come back, except for the ones concerning Xiao Jiu. One of the other Peak Lords find the love letters and encouraged him to post them, saying that his beloved would definitely have to respond if he publicly professed his love. So he does, and he becomes very famous for it, but still, no response.

But he keeps writing, hoping one day his beloved will see the letters and write back. Even if its been seven years since he lost his memories, and three since he started publishing.

Then, two years later, he is at a sect leaders conference in one of the more provincial areas, and he happens across a strangely familiar little backwater town. He enters, looking around, and comes across the charred remains of a once magnificent mansion. He asks around, and he is told that it was once the home of the deceased local nobles- the Qiu.

Yue Qingyuan stares, silent. Then he asks what happened to the clan. His head hurts. The old lady sighs, shaking her head as she tells him the answer.

“You see, before the fire, the young Lord Qiu had been going crazy, screaming and losing his temper over every little thing. Some thought he was possessed, others said he was haunted... and some assumed that the ghost of his sister’s fiance had come for him. After all, the Lord was known to be protective of his sister, and the fiance died of mysterious circumstances.”

“Who was... the fiance?”

“Ah, some beggar the Qiu took off the streets and the Miss had become fond of. I think his name was Shen Jiu.”

YOOOOOO interesting premise that the reason SY was dragged into the SV world was bc of YQY’s desire to save his Xiao Jiu!!!!! and then SY confesses this and ugh my 79 heart is aching again??? Yknow, personally, the thing about 79 that really hurts is how toxic they both are to each other and their personalities enable that destruction so it’s like their story is always rotting from the core. But good god, imagine if they actually manage to veer from their typical attitude to one another - if YQY stops it with that silent guilt and actually talk to SJ, if SJ finally lends a hearing ear and an open heart that were destroyed back then, if they trust one another to be vulnerable with each other just once so they can fix things ahhhhhhhhh

Shen Twin AU: Part of Shen Jiu's backstory is that his brother Shen Yuan was killed before he escaped. YQY is the only one that knows SY existed because SJ won't walk about him. SY (The Reader) is mad at the wasted potential and when he transmigrates into the novel, he is put in as SY, SJ's younger brother. People find him and notice his resemblance to SJ. I'm seeing so much cute animal art for MDZS and SVSSS so i'm throwing this in. LBG transmigrates into a stray puppy in the modern verse. He gets adopted by SY. Cuddles, petting and so much fluff! I don't know why, but in a Mafia AU, I can see Shen Yuan as a doctor for the underground. Shen Jiu is his bodyguard (and his boss) so Shen Yuan can only treat those that his brother approves of. Luo Binghe is the exception. Shen Jiu already refused him, but Shen Yuan treated him anyway. And Luo Binghe never forgot about it. At the same time he knows that he needs to be stronger to be worthy of "Shizun". So he starts training to become the most powerful figure in the underground.
