One more shot
Summary:
“Another round?” Both glasses were filled before she could answer but, then again, she never had turned down a drink before. “What, you want us to know each other’s star signs and favourite colour?” She snarked, sitting on the bench.
Or, Nami and Zoro begin to make a habit of drinking shots and getting to know each other. Rating: T I'm still not sure if I'm going to post full fics on Tumblr, but I know some people follow me here instead of AO3, so I thought I'd share the link! You can find this fic here.

You’re Like Lightning In A Bottle.
ONE-SHOT.
Disclaimer: One piece and all it’s characters belong to Eiichiro Oda, I just like to write about them.
Rating: T
Author’s Note: so ive had awful writers block and i wrote this while trying to muscle through it, it’s basically an alternative version of the post time-skip scene where usopp meets up with nami for the first time
Summary: What if Zoro had ended up in the bar Nami was waiting in, and not Usopp?
AO3 link.
‘Fuck,’ he cursed to himself while glowering at the building that sat directly across the street from him, ‘Perona must have given him shit directions!’
For the better part of the last hour the pirate hunter had been wandering from grove to grove, searching for Shakky’s bar, and he was over it.
‘He’d just have to check in with her or Rayleigh later, in case more of the crew showed up. Right now, he was irritated and thirsty.’
Zoro pushed through a set of saloon doors, pausing the second that he laid eye on a woman seated at the bar counter with striking orange hair. ‘There was.. Something familiar about her...’
Stepping further into the building, he looked the redhead up and down, and spotted several shopping bags that were resting near her sandaled feet. Even though she wasn’t facing him, he felt like he knew her... Like he had a deep connection to her.
‘Orange hair.. A clear love for shopping.. And heeled sandals...’
His heart soared into his throat, and he began to unconsciously drift her way, an asteroid caught in the gravitational pull of a much larger planet.
‘Yeah... He definitely knew her.’
It cost him an almost concerning amount of effort to beat down the powerful urge he had to run and gather her in his arms. ‘Because, god - he’d missed her so fucking much. It was almost unbearable - but he was not about to embarrass himself by acting like that idiot cook.’
Though Zoro would have preferred to stay in the warm wake of nostalgia for a little longer, the sharp CLICK-CLICK of a gun being cocked to his left jerked his attention to the goofy man wielding it.
‘What in fresh hell..?’
Standing at a booth a few feet from the counter was a man dressed like Luffy, or at least, how Luffy dressed when the swordsman had first joined up, ‘...And were the clowns sitting with him supposed to be the other Straw Hats? Fucking idiots.’
It was a lucky thing that Zoro’s doppelganger wasn’t present, or he’d be sorely tempted to test out some of his new techniques on him. ‘He was almost disappointed not to have the excuse to get in a fight.’
“Nobody disrespects me!” The imposter Luffy shouted, recapturing the pirate hunter’s thoughts, but he was interrupted by the woman beside him who placed her hand on the barrel of the pistol.
Zoro took one look at her, snorted, and barely contained a cackle. ‘HAH! How the hell were people falling for this reindeer shit?’
“Let me handle this,” she took the gun and strutted towards the Straw Hat’s real navigator, sneering, “Har, har. You think you’re real cute, don’t you?” As she draped an arm over Nami’s shoulders, she leaned around her torso and pointed the weapon at her face.
On instinct, one of Zoro’s hands went to kitetsu’s hilt and he popped it loose with a flick of his thumb. The only thing that stopped him from acting was the cat burglar’s calm, bored expression despite there being a loaded weapon aimed right at her.
‘She looked like she had things under control.. But if that idiot redhead’s trigger finger even flinched, she was going to lose her entire hand.’
“I’ll make this super simple, okay?” Imposter Nami turned a sinister grin on his crew mate, “Either you come drink with captain Luffy, or you die,” she paused for a moment as if to let the message sink in, her grin stretching wider, “For your info, I have a bounty myself. I’m the Straw Hat’s navigator, Nami. You scared yet?”
‘All right, that was enough, he couldn’t stomach another second of this nonsense.’
The swordsman drew his weapon and swept across the floor in one quick, fluid motion. Coming to a stop behind both women, he lowered the katana between their heads, the deadly edge of his blade hovering very, very close to the imposter’s throat.
“Move,” he demanded, leveling the phony navigator with a violent eye that promised hell if she didn’t do exactly what he said. To emphasize how serious he was, his grip on the hilt flexed threateningly. When she didn’t respond, too frozen from a mixture of fear and shock from his sudden appearance, Zoro inched kitetsu so close that if she took too deep a breath - she’d slit her throat on it. “Don’t make me say it again.”
Seemingly coming to her senses, the redhead shrieked and jolted backwards, stumbling over her own feet till she crashed onto her rear. Somewhere along the way to the floor she dropped the gun, which Zoro spotted near Nami’s bar stool. He planted his boot on the pistol and dragged it over while lowering kitetsu. No one spoke as the swordsman turned to address the man who dared to parade around as his captain.
“Hello, captain,” he grinned like a shark that had locked on to its next meal, “Long time no see, huh?”
While their exchange was the center of attention, a few patrons had begun to whisper amongst themselves about the identity of the man with green hair making such a big scene out of the interaction.
“...I think I’ve seen his face somewhere...” “...Did he say captain?...” “...Someone look for his wanted poster...” “...Swear I had one here...’
Papers rustling as they were sifted through followed as Zoro continued to leer at the group of thugs, swinging kitetsu up to rest the back of the blade across his shoulders, “You got anything to say to me, rubber boy?”
Soon the comments grew plenty and loud enough for the phony Straw Hats to hear snippets from the people sitting closest to them.
“...That’s Pirate Hunter Zoro I’m sure of it...” “...But he doesn’t have a scar in the picture...” “...I thought he was part of Straw Hat’s crew...” “...Is this a mutiny?...”
The sneer that he wore turned malevolent as he watched the color drain from each pretender’s face. ‘They must have finally figured out how bad they fucked up, strutting around and disgracing the Straw Hats’ name, disgracing Luffy’s name, the way they were.’
Zoro opened his mouth but just as he was about to threaten their lives the woman beside him rose and rounded her stool. She stood right in front of him as she grabbed his chin, tilting his head towards hers. “That’s enough, moss head,” the navigator said in a stern tone that mimicked her expression.
“Huh?” His hackles rose as he prepared to start an argument - but he faltered some when Nami’s glare turned severe. If they weren’t in public he might have cringed away from her.
“I said that’s enough,” she repeated herself, piercing all the way into his soul with the heat of her scowl, “Help me with my bags, we’re leaving.”
Zoro snorted, jerking his chin out of her grip and side-stepping away from her, “I’m not a pack mule, carry them your fucking self you lazy brat.”
The navigator scoffed and settled her hands onto her hips as she watched him sheath his sword, “You’ve got all those muscles, but you can’t carry a couple shopping bags?”
“Oh shut the hell up, Nami.”
“Zoro, would you just do it so we can leave?” Nami stepped up to the pirate hunter and traced her pointer finger down the length of his exposed sternum, leveling him with a needy expression, “...Please?”
For a reason he couldn’t fathom, he felt his face heat up.
‘Fuck, was he blushing?? Shit, what the hell!! What was wrong with him?? Two years ago he could hold his ground no problem,’ Zoro clenched his jaw as he fought himself from giving the redhead her way, ‘..But Nami was so close. And.. She looked so good... God, she smelled even better. Was she casting a spell on him?’
“.......“ He was silent for several seconds before he released a very displeased growl and bent over to gather all of her bags up in one hand.
“Good boy,” the navigator winked as she grabbed his free hand and towed him towards the exit the moment he’d straightened up, “Let’s go!”
“Quit fuckin’ treating me like a dog, Nami!” Her crew mate snarled as he followed after the cat burglar, vehemently trying to ignore the jolt that had rocketed up his arm and down his spine when she touched him. ‘What the fuck was that about? Why did he feel so nervous and giddy just because she was holding his hand?? Fuck.’
Not even two seconds after she dragged him through the bar doors, Zoro heard what sounded like a lightning bolt strike directly behind him, and spun around without letting go of Nami. The entire building was lit up with jagged, electric yellow beams, like there was a thunderstorm raging inside.
His jaw fell open but he didn’t notice. ‘How’d she do that?’ The pirate hunter followed her through the crowded walkway into an alley between two stores where they could lay low, absentmindedly hanging onto her fingers the whole time.
“Why are you such a drama queen?” The navigator heaved a heavy sigh once she was sure the coast was clear, turning a chastising stare on her crew mate.
“Who the hell are you calling a drama queen?!”
“You! You didn’t need to go and play knight in shining armor, I could have handled myself.”
‘Was she seriously trying to lecture him? Already??’ The pirate hunter crowded her up against the alley wall and pinned her hand right above her head so he could get in her face, “I wasn’t rescuing you, woman. I just got fed up watching that shitshow, and decided to put a stop to it.”
“Sure, tough guy,” Nami smirked, though it was small, and slipped her fingers into the top of his haramaki, pulling him closer to her, “You weren’t trying to defend my honor?”
Zoro tried to convince himself that her touch didn’t shock him to the core with an overwhelming need to kiss her. ‘Fuck... Why did he feel like this? Was he sick? What the hell was coming over him?’ He closed some of the space between their faces, his eye tracing from her eyebrows down her nose to her mouth where they lingered.
“What honor does a thief like you have for me to defend?” His heart thumped unevenly as he spoke, fingers tensing and relaxing around the handles of the shopping bags he was still holding. ‘...He wanted to kiss her so fucking bad.’
“Are you saying I’m honorless?” The corner of her lips twitched up as she traced a finger beneath his jaw, lifting her chin a couple centimeters, “How rude, I guess you didn’t learn any manners in two years, hmm?”
“What did you expect?” Zoro chuckled quietly and moved in even closer, his eyelid falling halfway shut, “You think I’d turn into the love-cook just because I missed you?”
“Did you miss me, tiger?”
‘Shit.. He hadn’t meant to tell her that. If she knew how he felt about her she’d probably use it against him, but..’ His surroundings all seemed to blend together, and flow with his doubts to the back of his mind, ‘He had missed her a lot. He’d missed her so much that it made his chest and throat burn like he’d drank a pot of boiling water.’
“Maybe...” the swordsman murmured after his brief stint of silence, brushing the end of his nose against hers, “Did you miss me?”
Nami played with her crew mate’s earrings as his head tipped to the right, then cupped the side of his face in her palm, “Maybe.”
“Witch.” Zoro murmured close to lovingly as a short, breathy scoff escaped his throat. He smiled as he leaned the rest of the way in, and when he kissed her a current of electricity seemed to jump from her skin into his.
It fried every inch of his body from the top of his head, to the tips of his fingers and the ends of his toes. Kissing Nami was like kissing a lightning storm.. where even her taste electrocuted him. He was practically humming with all the energy that coursed through his nervous system.
'Shit.. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so alive.’ The swordsman broke away for a moment to steady his breathing and settle his cycloning thoughts, 'Hell, if he wasn't careful - There was a good chance he could get addicted to this woman. Or maybe he already was...’

A Very Merry Christmas!

Note: To aani_cos. My ZoNa secret santa for the ZoNa Holiday 2021 at @zonamievents. Hope you like it!
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone will have a blast celebrating Christmas and New Year!
Summary: The snow started to fall down softly on them as the temperature around them grew slightly colder. But the soft smile on their faces and their joined hands were enough to warm them both up.
Everything is white.
It was like they stepped inside one of those snow globes displayed in one of the store windows that Chopper was admiring earlier.
The town they were currently at is pretty laid-back. It was calm, quiet and just… white.
Everywhere. White.
Probably because it was the height of winter on this island.
It should’ve made the whole area plain… boring even. But somehow all that whiteness decorating anything and everything only gave the place a rather magical quality that wasn’t seen in any island before.
Zoro impatiently shifted his weight from one leg to the other, the soft crunch of snow under his boot reached his ears. He was standing in front of the store for a good half hour now… waiting. He let out a sigh and scratched his head in a frustrated manner.
The sound of a bell tinkling caught his attention as the door behind him opened. He swiveled around and was met by two of his crewmates—who both have bright smiles plastered on their faces.
“We’re done!” Nami announced as she took a step beside him.
Zoro noticed that there was a certain bounce in it… something that he usually sees whenever she bought something that made her really happy.
“And Zoro’s still here Chopper!” She gushed exaggeratedly. “He didn’t disappear nor did he get lost!”
A vein popped on his forehead at that.
“Wow!” Chopper was looking up at him in amazement. “It’s a miracle Nami!”
And another.
“I know right?” The navigator joshed, giving Zoro a wink before cheekily shoving the shopping bag she was holding at his direction.
Zoro just grabbed it from her without another word, an addition to the growing number of bags that he was already carrying.
“Chopper,” Nami sing-songed. “Just hand your shopping bag to Zoro. He’s our delegated hauler for the day and he is more than happy to help us.” The mapmaker instructed as she beamed a smile at him.
Zoro scowled at her. Yet he signaled to Chopper to give him the bag that he was holding.
Chopper blinked up at the swordsman, looking a little hesitant. The former bounty hunter crouched down and patted his head in an assuring manner before taking the bag from him.
“Thank you Zoro,” Chopper said shyly.
That actually made the green-haired man smile. “No worries Chopper.” Zoro then lifted him up and placed him on his shoulder.
Chopper giggled as he got a much better view of his surroundings from where he was perched at. Nami had invited him to go shopping for the crew’s Christmas gifts. He was actually surprised to find out that she managed to rope Zoro into coming with them and helping them out. He couldn’t help but be in awe at how she was able to do that.
Only Nami can do that to one of their formidable fighters.
He really wonders how she does it. More so, because instead of the usual grumbling Zoro does whenever Nami succeeds in making him to do something that he doesn’t want to… he was surprisingly tolerant of the navigator’s shopping expedition.
And he also doesn’t look like he loathes the idea of being Nami’s pack-mule for the day.
Chopper initially volunteered to help carry Nami’s shopping bags but Zoro dismissed the offer with a slight wave of his hand.
That had the reindeer doctor wondering. Zoro was being… nice to Nami.
And Nami wasn’t berating him or talking his ears off like she usually does.
The two weren’t even trying to kill each other with glares or words the whole time they were wandering in town.
What is going on?
Chopper straightened up from his position and Zoro looked at him questioningly.
Zoro and Nami had a weird yet working dynamics that was kinda hard to understand.
Maybe it’s because… it’s Christmas time? And they both decided for a truce to celebrate the holiday spirit?
If that’s the case then this is really the wonderful time of the year!
He was giggling again as he shook his head at Zoro.
“What is it Chopper?”
“Nothing,” the small doctor smiled. “Ne, Zoro. Your ear is cold.”
“That’s because Nami is taking too long buying things.”
Nami—who was busy consulting the small notebook she pulled out from her coat pocket—swiftly turned towards them with a glare. “It’s not my fault you refuse to wear a knit caps or earmuffs!”
“Hnn...”
“I can’t have you freezing before we even finished shopping Zoro!” She complained as she stomped towards him. “You promised to help carry the stuff while I help you with your presents remember?”
“Forced is more like it.”
“Zoro you can borrow my scarf,” Chopper offered. “It’ll help warm you.”
“I’m alright Chopper.”
“Alright my ass,” Nami muttered as she rummaged through the bags Zoro is holding. She pulled out a beautiful midnight blue scarf, fixed him with a glare that promises nothing good for him if he didn’t let her have her way.
He silently conceded and let her wrap it around his neck, almost covering half of his face as Chopper watched them. Zoro didn’t bother protesting lest she decides to smother him with it instead.
Plus it actually felt nice. The scarf. Not the way Nami was wrapping it around his neck like a concerned girlfriend.
He inwardly winced at that thought.
He felt a weird twitch in his hand.
“There!” She announced, brushing his coat with her hands and straightening it. “You look pretty.”
“Shut up.”
She placed both of her hands on her hips. “We still need to finish our task today Zoro. I don’t want your ass turning into an icicle before we do!”
“Besides,” she continued. “We still need to buy your gifts for us! Don’t you want to give us something nice for a change? Everyone’s preparing something for everyone.”
Zoro grumbled something under his breath.
“How about saving your lives? That doesn’t count anymore?”
“You’re really that broke huh?”
“…”
Chopper watched their exchange with keen interest. Initially when he joined the crew, he thought they hated each other and was only being tolerant of each other’s presence because of Luffy.
But he realized that was not the case. They are just like that with each other. He come to understand that despite their heated exchanges, their callous words and sarcastic tones… they do care for each other.
Robin had said it before… sometimes words are not needed as action speaks louder.
Zoro is with Nami today, accompanying her as she did her shopping and going as far as carrying her bags for her. And knowing how the older lad prefers sleeping or training than a shopping trip to town… this is saying something to be honest.
And Nami was being absolutely tolerant of the swordsman. She didn’t nag him that much or got angry with him or even punched him like she usually does…
She even draped a scarf around his neck to keep him warm. A scarf he knows Nami had actually bought for Zoro as a gift.
The reindeer doctor felt warm and fuzzy all over. It was really nice to see his two friends who are always at odds with each other be nice to each other for a change.
What a very merry Christmas indeed!
Chopper fought back a giggle and Zoro threw a curious look his way again.
“What is it Chopper?”
“Nothing.”
“You keep on tittering. Is your stomach upset or something?”
“I’m ok Zoro it’s just…”
“Are you alright Chopper?” Nami asked, scrutinizing him. “Your face is kinda turning red. Are you cold?”
“No! No!” Chopper shook his head. “I’m just…”
Zoro and Nami exchanged concerned glances.
“I’m just happy that’s all!” He chirped. “It’s really a very merry Christmas!”
Zoro and Nami smiled at that. It wasn’t really a secret that they both have a soft spot for their youngest crewmate.
“Merry Christmas Zoro. Nami.”
“Merry Christmas Chopper.” Nami tiptoed and gave his blue nose a peck. Zoro in turn, patted his head again.
“Let’s go and finished this,” Zoro suggested.  “How many more stores do we need go?”
“Ok,” Chopper agreed. “Oh! There is that bookstore that Robin mentioned last night.” He pointed towards the building a few feet away from them. He clambered down from Zoro’s shoulder, jumping halfway and changing into his walk point as he trotted toward the store excitedly.
“You should know, the next stores we’ll be going are all Chopper’s requests.” Nami threw Zoro a look that clearly says ‘go on and try to complain’. Because she knew he wouldn’t and couldn’t.
Zoro glanced at Chopper who was ahead of them. He nodded as Nami started walking towards where the reindeer is.
Then she stopped and turned her head to look back at him.
Zoro raised an eyebrow at her.
Nami gave him a smile. That smile.
That damn smile that never fails to make his stomach feel weird whenever he sees it. The one damn reason why he is here with her instead of back in their ship, sleeping.
His felt hand twitched again… for the umpteenth time. It had been doing that all day.
And he realized now why.
He was fighting the urge to reach out and hold her hand in his like a goddamn love-struck sap all this time.
He’d been wrestling with that impulse from the moment they left the Sunny to go shopping in town.
Suddenly Nami was in front of him, standing on tiptoes again, this time to plant a kiss on his cheek.
Zoro sputtered. His face immediately turning to red from embarrassment.
And Nami laughed out loud. She knows how he easily gets flustered when she does something like this out in the open and for all to see.
He’s still not used to displays of affection. Well… they did decide to be together just recently.
Plus, he did have a reputation to keep.
Still that won’t stop her from trying to break that ever-stoic exterior of his every now and then.
“Thanks for today Zoro,” Nami grinned. “Even though I know this is more because I promised to lend you some money for your gifts, free of interest of course!” She winked at him. “I guess you should consider that my gift to you.” With that she spun around to follow Chopper.
But not before giving him that smile again.
And he was lost.
He reached out and grasped her hand in his.
Nami stopped and looked back at him in surprise.
And Zoro watched her face slowly lit up.
It was the first time he had ever tried to hold her hand while they were outside.
And it was… exhilarating.
Her features softened as she stared at their hands then at his face. She gave it a squeeze, a silent gesture that she appreciated the effort he placed into it. And that if he wants to let go… she wouldn’t mind because she knows this is something new to him.
But he held on tighter, clasping her hand as if it was the most natural thing in the world as he tugged her slightly to head towards where Chopper is.
The snow started to fall down softly on them as the temperature around them grew slightly colder.
But the soft smile on their faces and their joined hands were enough to warm them both up.
-------------------------
Chopper watched the two figures walking towards him amidst the falling white snow.
He had reverted back to his original form when he witnessed what happened earlier.
Chopper giggled and blushed when he realized what was really going on between his two friends.
Oh what a very merry Christmas indeed!

I realised I only posted one zonami fic last year and I knew I had this knocking around somewhere almost complete. So I tidied it up. Hopefully it’ll motivate me to complete/start other pieces.
Summary: Zoro liked to nap in the sun and sometimes, Nami joined him. Rating: M
This can also be found on AO3 and FFN.
Enjoy!
She really should have noticed sooner.
Zoro slept in the sun. A lot.
Which wasn’t that ground breaking nor difficult considering they were out on the open sea and he liked to nap (a bit too much, in her opinion) but that wasn’t it.
It was that he moved around the ship throughout the day, chasing the sun and dodging shadows.
The reason she finally noticed was because when he’d finally got his act together and they got together, she’d sometimes join him. If she wasn’t lounging with Robin and had a spare moment where she just wanted to read, she’d sit next to him. It was peaceful and as long as it wasn’t too hot, the warm sun felt nice mixed along with a chilly breeze.
If he wasn’t in a deep sleep, he’d sometimes hear her approach and crack an eye in greeting but when he was, it was comical to see him wake up and do a double take at her presence.
But the most interesting thing was how, regardless of how deep asleep he was, he’d sooner or later realise when the sun had moved. If he was only resting his eyes, he’d notice within a few minutes before getting up and moving further down the ship to give himself as much time as possible before having to move again. If he was in a deep sleep, the longest she’d seen him go was ten minutes before waking and moving.
When she was with him, he’d nudge her gently, disturbing her from whatever she was reading to let her know they were moving. If she was deeply engrossed in whatever she was reading, she’d move with him to continue, but sometimes she used it as a timer. Spend some quiet time with him and when he moved, she’d go and do something else.
That little bit of information explained a lot. Like how he was so much more tanned than the rest of them, even though they all spent time outside. Why he moved around the ship throughout the day. Before she’d thought he did it to be annoying with the number of times she’d heard Sanji swear at him as he tripped over his legs, not expecting him there… and okay fine, she’d seen him move his legs out just before Sanji was about to walk past, so some of it was on purpose. But that seemed more opportunity than actually planned.
Yet, without fail, every time he moved, he’d settle back in and stretch languidly in contentment, sun warming his skin as he closed his eye.
It reminded her of a cat.
A big, grouchy cat.
.
.
.
Nami hadn’t come into the library with the intention of looking for Zoro but she found him anyway when she entered to find her book on sea patterns. She hadn’t seen him for a few hours and she’d figured he was either in the crow’s nest or further down the ship as it was late afternoon. But this was where he was instead, stretched across the bench, legs crossed, arms behind his head and topless as the sun shone through the window.
She’d be a fool not to appreciate the sight for a moment when she could. The sun casted him in a golden glow, lightening his tan whilst casting a shadow against the lines of his stomach, further highlighting the groves of his muscles. Yet it had the opposite effect on his face; the light skimmed across his features, already softened by sleep and she liked the contrast.
He was handsome.
And he was laying right in front of her section of books. She grinned to herself.
She walked over normally, sandals clicking against the wooden floor in the quiet room as anything else would wake him up and she was pleased to see not even an ounce of consciousness on his face when she reached him. She leaned over, obstructing the sun and pretending to choose a book, finger skimming across the spines.
It didn’t take long; he wasn’t as asleep as he appeared.
“Oi, you’re blocking the sun, it’s warm,” he said, voice gruff from not speaking for a while and squinting at her.
“You’d also be warm if you put a top on,” she retaliated, eyes flicking down to his bare chest for a second.
“Too comfortable to move.”
“Convenient.” She selected the book she’d come in for but her previous plans of leaving the library with it were abandoned. “Now scooch, I want to sit there.”
His eye opened again. “There’s a whole bench free.”
“True, but this is the only spot in the sun.” She smiled down as him innocently, batting her eyelashes.
“Don’t be difficult on purpose,” he told her, voice turning exasperated.
“But it’s so fun.”
He grumbled, irritated but let his eye close again.
“I said it was fun but I really do want to sit there.”
He ignored her, pretending to be asleep.
“There’s space for the both of us, don’t be selfish,” voice taking on a whining edge that she knew he hated.
He laid there a little longer, like she’d go away if he did but when he cracked his eye to look at her after a moment, he huffed, sitting up. He looked like a ruffled cat, agitated as he crossed his arms, back now to the sun. She took her seat next to him, ignoring his sulking and enjoying the way the sun warmed the back of her arms.
She didn’t look at him as she said, “I didn’t say you had to sit up.” She patted her thigh, inviting him to lay back down.
“Oh.”
That pulled him out of his sulking as he laid down again, his head now pillowed on her thigh instead of his arms.
“Yeah, ‘oh’. No need for a temper tantrum.”
“Then say it in the first place!” He complained, although it didn’t match the way his face relaxed and his head nuzzled into the skin of her leg, getting comfortable.
“No thanks,” she chirped, placing the bookmark on her unoccupied side and opening the book to the last page she was on.
If he was going to say anything, it was put to bed when free her hand ran through his hair. Her hand carded through his hair, working from his forehead back until she reached her thigh. She did this a few times and he sighed in contentment, which was the closest she’d get to a compliment.
For someone who, to her disgust, didn’t wash as much as she’d like, his hair was surprisingly soft and she liked that it was a little longer after their two-years apart, there was more to play with.
His breathing evened out shortly after but she still continued, liking the way it felt under her fingers. She carded her fingers through his hair a few more times before randomly picking a section of hair and stroking from the root to the end of his hair, working methodically through, occasionally parting as she went. The only time she stopped was when she needed to change the page or when he’d turned in his sleep, mumbling something under his breath as he faced towards her stomach. It freed up the nape of his neck and she took full advantage of the untouched hair there.
When she finished her chapter, she used the small break to look at him again. She thought about her previous description of him, how he chased the sun, the warmth, like a cat. Except that didn’t quite fit him; he was too large, too intimidating, to be considered the same as a household cat. He was more like a lion or tiger.

Nami was tired today. She hadn’t slept well the night before and by mid-day, her eyes were stinging even with the two coffee’s she’d had in the morning.
Despite that, the weather was too nice to go and lay down and her trees were calling. It’d been a while since they’d been tended to and there were a few stray branches that she wanted to snip off. Maybe add some fertiliser to the soil.
She’d barely started, not even one tree complete when she heard a voice call, “Nami.”
A very familiar, gravelly voice.
Peering around the tree’s, there was Zoro, arms and legs crossed, leaning against the opposite railing. He was almost halfway between the library door and Robin’s flower patch. She wasn’t quite sure how she’d missed him when she came up. It made sense though, the sun was high in the sky, Luffy and the others were rambunctious today that he’d get peace up here.
“I thought you were in the crow’s nest,” she told him, walking towards him.
“Probably later if nothing happens.”
He looked comfortable and with the heat bearing down on her, it only made her eyelids feel heavier. Oh screw it.
“Zoro, scooch,” she repeated her words from last week.
He looked gobsmacked before outraged as her words sunk in. “You’ve got to be kidding, the whole deck is in the sun! And you’re doing your trees,” he argued.
“No, I mean-” she pointed at his crossed arms, refusing to say what she actually wanted.
It was clear he still wasn’t quite sure what she wanted as he slowly unfolded his arms but soon figured it out when she sat herself on his crossed legs. It took a bit of adjusting to get comfortable and she refused to look him in the eye as she draped one of his arms over her legs. His other arm moving by itself to settle around her back. When she did finally look at him, his raised eyebrow made her feel defensive.
“What?” she asked with narrowed eyes.
“It’s not often you wanna nap with me.”
Whilst she may sit with him, it was far rarer that she actually napped with him. She could count it happening on her hand, regardless of them being together.
“Ah Zoro, you almost sound happy. You want to cuddle?” She teased.
He huffed, “Shh. Sleep.”
She ignored him, eyeing the shadow she casted over his chest. “I’m going to ruin your tan sat like this.”
“Don’t really care.”
“The fearsome Roronoa Zoro has tan lines from letting his girlfriend sleep on him.”
With a grin smug, he asked, “Fearsome, huh?”
She rolled her eyes. “That’s what you took from that sentence?”
He smiled, closing his eye and although she was warm and comfortable, and tired herself, as she still looked at his skin, she thought-
“Have you put lotion on?” She poked his cheek, as if that would tell her the answer.
“Huh?” His voice was just starting to sound exasperated as his eye opened again.
“To protect against the sun?” She said it in such a way you could also hear the silent ‘duh’. “I’m sure Chopper lectures you about this.”
He looked at her blankly.
“I’m going to be all young and you’re going to look like a walking leather wallet!” She flicked her hair over her shoulder. “People are going to wonder how you got so lucky to land a jackpot like me.”
“Plan on sticking around that long, do you?”
He was trying to embarrass her, trying to get a rise out of her. Not today. “You don’t?”
Thin ice, he had to tread carefully and she bit down her grin as she looked at him.
He looked weary, knowing it could end in being punched. “I didn’t say that,” he cautiously settled on.
She cooed, teasingly pinching his cheek, “That’s so cute Zoro, who knew you thought about the future.”
“I thought you were here to nap?” He snapped after having the tables turned on him.
“I am, but I’ll make sure you put on lotion next time.”
She settled, head tucked into the crook of his neck and arms gathered in front of her, one hand on his chest. When he hummed in acknowledgement, she felt the vibration rattling through the skin of her palm.
They lapsed into silence and she was almost asleep when his hand found its way into her hair, idlily playing with her hair. It was almost like he was repaying her from the other week. She melted against him and if she could purr, she would. His hand was warm and when his fingers touched her scalp, little sparks shot down her back.
Normally she’d want to check the cleanliness of his hands before letting them anywhere near her hair but now… now…
She couldn’t focus or think of anything else other than how good it was. She leaned in, trying to get closer and gasped when he parted her hair. He did it again in a different spot before the pads of his fingers massaged her scalp and her hair would be greasy so much quicker because of this but she didn’t care. Not when it felt so good.
When his hand stopped dead, she groaned. “No Zoro, don’t stop,” she whined, trying to push her head into his hand and urge him to continue.
“Then stop wiggling.”
She hadn’t even realised she had been. “But it feels good.”
“Yeah?” He asked, voice low and it was a tone that sent shivers down her back. She knew that tone well.
When she looked up, his gaze was already trained on her. She leaned up closer again but this time, not to get his hand to move but to kiss him and he met her halfway
And oh. That was why he wanted her to stop wiggling.
“So much for napping together.”
“We’d be asleep right now if you would’ve stopped wiggling.”
“Then don’t play with my hair, you started this.”
“Stop talking.”
Before she could scold him for being rude, his lips were back on hers, demanding and she matched his pace, like that would make her point she was so rudely interrupted from. His hand dropped from the crown of her head to the base of her neck, his other moving from her legs up until he cupped her breast, rubbing her nipple through her bikini top with the pad of his thumb. She gasped and their kiss stuttered to a stop when he wouldn’t let up.
“Maybe we should move this somewhere private.”
He moved his kisses to her jaw with the interruption. “This won’t take long and then we can nap.”
“The crew,” she uttered out, trying to contain a whimper when his hand slipped underneath her bikini top.
“I’ll hear them coming from a mile away, they’re hardly quiet,” he assured, fingers moving with experience and she squirmed, thighs rubbing together.
“Fine, but let’s be quick about this.” She tried to sound put out, like he’d convinced her but it was hard to do when she was already panting.
“Huh,” he said, almost to himself and ignoring what she said, his hand stilled, “I never thought you could tan.”
She followed his gaze until she saw a patch of uncovered skin from where her bikini top had shifted and although subtle, there was a feint line. “You’re a bad influence.”
He smirked, almost like that was an achievement and kissed her again. She tilted her head to find the right angle and their lips slotted together. For someone that carried a sword in his mouth, his lips were never chapped. She slipped her tongue between his lips and his soon joined her.
“I miss the days you used to wear skirts, would’ve made this a lot easier.”
“Stop you’re whining and get to work,” she whispered and instead of being annoyed, he smirked when he opened her jeans one handed, with practised ease.
There wasn’t time for teasing and their position certainly didn’t allow for it, she was very aware that someone could come up there any minute. He was too when his middle finger slipped between her lips and whilst they hadn’t done much, she was wet. Maybe it was the thrill of getting caught, which she blamed Zoro entirely for turning her into a pervert.
His finger stroked between her lips, spreading the wetness and she let out a shaky breath which turned into a sharp gasp when his finger circled the bundle of nerves at the top. Her legs widened, trying to make space for him, to get him closer and she was too lost in the sensation of his fingers on her to feel embarrassed about her position.
“Zoro,” she moaned far too loudly.
“Feel good?”
He didn’t wait for her to respond as he kissed her instead, swallowing her pants and using them to spur him on. He teased along the folds a few more times until he started to find a rhythm.
After being together for a while now, he knew what he was doing to get her to orgasm and to get her to a good one. As they were doing this on the sly, he focused on the bundle of nerves, slowly circling with the pad of his finger. It started gentle but as the he was building speed, he applied more pressure, not taking his finger off for even a second.
They were both too focused on other things to kiss properly now but she still pressed them into his neck sporadically, both because of how good he was making her feel but also to try and contain the sounds that were falling from her mouth. There was also part of her that liked how safe she felt, liked being this close to him whilst he was making her see stars.
Her hand tightened on his shoulder as the pressure in her stomach was building and she could hear herself in a mixture of moans and calling Zoro’s name. She trusted that if the crew were close by, he’d have quietened her. Her back arched as the wave came crashing over her and his finger didn’t stop until she moaned weakly, trying to close her legs.
She sat there, curled into him and when she finally managed to open her eyes again, he was looking down at her fondly. It wasn’t a look many were lucky to see on his face and it made her feel warm. He leaned down to press a kiss onto her forehead and she hummed.
“You okay?” He asked, comfortingly stroking the outside of her thigh.
“More than okay,” she assured, still soaking in the last wisps of her orgasm.
With her head on his shoulder, she looked up at him. “What do you want?” She purred, hand smoothing over his pec, only for her fingers to play with the puckered skin of his scar.
“Later,” he said, arms tightening around her as he settled again.
“Really?” She could still feel him pressing into her backside.
“Too messy and I don’t want to move.”
She could relate, she thought as her thighs rubbed together. Then again, it was nothing compared to the mess he’d make and she could somewhat ignore it. Especially as she felt her muscles go lax from the warmth of the sun.
He yawned one more time before his head tilted back to rest against the railing. She stretched in contentment, the sun warm on her skin and her head settled back into the crook of his neck. The sounds of the crew’s natter in the distance and soft waves hitting the ship lulled her into a dreamless sleep.
Maybe they were both like cats.

Sometimes, all I want to do is talk about how attractive Zoro is and write about nothing with these two… and okay fine, I wanted them to cuddle damn it.
As always, please excuse any mistakes.
Thanks for reading.
